@Noxx

If he couldn't scratch you with that attack he's got no chance and nothing left, also any chance of capture just shot out the roof so he would be aiming to kill now.
Anyway I'm resigning him from the battle by God-modding that bolt that flung off.

That aside, I'm amazed by the incompetence of every hunter in the tavern. And out of ALL OF THEM, only the scholar noticed she was a witch. I mean, at one point in your hunter career you gotta develop a sixth sense for that kinda stuff.

I'm rather appalled by seeing that power levels are forcedly driven to the levels necessary to enable a witch to easily escape an entire tavern full of hunters.

And, by the way, I also have to assume that Jared is death or on his way of halfway dying right now, because he has been the one sitting next to the counter where the majority of things happened. So he was exposed to...
  • A tornado which would have prevented him from escaping into the main hall, if not sucking him right in like it did with the windows.
  • A countless amount of highly accelerated glass shards and wooden shrapnels emanating from windows burst inside and other things shooting around.
  • Strange railgun experiments right in front of him. Okay he doesn't wear a pacemaker so electromagnetic interference won't bother him, but I'm wondering where this net did find all the place necessary to go on its superfast journey down first and then way up again. Also I don't want to be his ears.
  • An earthen wall shooting out of the floor to protect the witch which was lying right behind this counter. Now that thing has to go somewhere as well, so has the floor and all the other wooden stuff it had to break through.

In a timespan that obviously was short enough to not make it possible to react, given how short it normally takes bullets and other things to fly around.

Congrats. And please don't tell me something like 'you've put your character into a bad place so you had to expect this to happen.'.

But hey, would have been rather pointless to go out for a hunt having to face such enemies anyway...

So... character remake #3 or what...

@Noxx just a few things about your post. The tavern does have a warded root/meat cellar so it isn't on the earth hence she couldn't make a dirt tomb

And tbh, she is having wayyy to easy of a time. This is a hunters tavern, there are measures in place that stop witches from being powerful in there. Almost dead in the water tbh.

This is stuff I was kinda hoping to save for ic stuff, but I wasn't expecting a witch to come so soon.

Witches paradise was created as a safe haven for hunters who has pissed off very powerful monsters because every deserves the right to a pieceful nights sleep. The wood is seasoned with all the herbs that weaken witches, most of the chairs have silver bits. It is a fortress really that takes planning to infiltrate, if hunters would storm the castle and hope for the best, they would die.

Sam does not have home field advantage, she is weakend and she has pisses off a bunch of powerful and influenctal people in a roleplay where characters that do that die in a rp where your permission is not 100% needed to kill characters, idk if that was made clear to you or not.

@Bishop To be fair, Abby cleared the tavern out when the gnome attack started. The people in there are few (technically only 6 people are in there ) and three of those people just walked in. All the good hunters are still outside.

Bravo.

I'm not going to be that guy, but I am amazed at Samantha's extraordinary reaction times, level of power, and complete an utter disregard of every hun- sorry, I mean the 5 other hunters in the tavern, who are mostly comprised of PCs that have a high level of experience. And she's only 19?

Astounding.

If I sound like an asshole, that is completely and totally intentional. The amount of Arena-built-irritation I'm having right now is enough to blow up a building. No offense to Noxx, but I have a very hard time believing that Sam is capable of what she just did unless she's secretly a ninja.

Edit: After only a few minutes, I instantly regretted posting this. I'm going to keep it posted for the sake of recording my stupidity, but my views were not meant to be as vitriolic as portrayed.

That being said, I still stand by the view that what Sam had just did was utterly ridiculous. Dramatically, thematically, and logically.

@Xiro Zean Make that five hunters by now, since like I said, I have to assume that mine is out of action, quite likely indefinitely. Unless I'm allowed to god-mod my way out of this mess.

Draco just did a thing. Not sure if it was a good thing yet, but it was a thing none the less.

Now out of all the people, that one would not be wise. Draco is a hunter, an odd one, but still. He has managed to wrangle up a couple of friends who would keep him from harm as well as from harming others. All in all, decidedly not an enemy.

Actually, there is a question I'm interested in asking that's important for lore reasons...

Can holy water effect a nihilist?

After all, the concept of holy and unholy requires a degree of belief that there is such a thing as holy or unholy to begin with... and if you believe in nothing at all then there is no such thing as holy or unholy; All that is being thrown on you is water that some idiot wearing a stupid hat for reasons he doesn't know spoke words at that were written (and no doubt altered with time and translation) thousands of years ago by other humans for their own reasons so all that's going to happen is that it will make you wet.

Holy anything points to a small form of light/natural magic, where as Witches and demons use vast amounts of dark magic so coming into contact with it can be varying levels of painful... Okay that was a bunch of bs, I don't actually know. That's a question for El.

In swoops the Libby to be the bad guy... Again. >.<

@Noxx:
The information has been reviewed and I have to agree with the others. The reaction time is way too fast and way too accurate to be plausible. Avoiding every attack completely? Your post is worded in a way to make it sound like the opportunity to get hurt was present when in reality it never came close and that is unacceptable. You cannot continuously have the most powerful guy in the room walking around unhurt. Even Mirai would have a tough time in this situation and she's among the Master levels we have. This is not the first time we are mentioning it either, which means this is your final warning. If you cannot dial it back with, at the very least, a real injury here and there... then your characters will be seen as no more than a distraction to the plot and will be asked to be removed.

Should you have asked, we might have set up a deal where Sam wouldn't have been killed but instead captured and interrogated but you purposefully set up an encounter for violence without the misfortune of getting hurt yourself. Sam is not that powerful, plain and simple. Up to you how to proceed now that two responses have already been made in regards to your actions. 1)The fight ends here and we can talk about the capture of Samantha. 2)The fight continues and she gets hurt (because let's face it... this is a room of, now 5 since Ky is easing up, hunters and one ex-hunter fully capable of handling their own against a witch.

[@Everyone]:

I believed this to be common sense, but I shall say it anyway. Battles in RPs are a very tricky thing. They require the full trust of your partners not to make decisions that will ruin the experience. That means not always swinging in a way where the other cannot escape, realizing when/where injury is unavoidable (and responding with how to lessen the injury not how to avoid it), and most of all communication with the partners. The GMs have a lot of things to focus on and cannot be expected to monitor every detail of every fight, which means we are trusting you guys to make judgement calls. Please make the right ones.

@Bright_Ops @WeepingLiberty

I would have to assume the single nihilist's belief isn't enough to counter the vast majority of the world.
I mean he wouldn't know if it's been blessed or not, it's not just a psychosomatic reaction.
And thats assuming religion is a matter of belief and there isn't actually divine magic in this world, in wich case it just becomes 'magic water'.

Oh and I never used holy water in the attack, I know subsequent posts assumed I did but I never saw it in the 'things to use against witches'

Do I look as if I had much of a choice given the unvarnished amount of... stretching the boundaries like a piece of worn-out, well-chewed bubble gum... having been unfolded in this tavern ?
