Star Wars: Scav’s

"It is a period of civil war.
Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire.
In response an example was made out of the planet of Alderaan, revealing the Empire’s ultimate weapon; The DEATH STAR.
Uncertainty, outrage and panic engulfs the galaxy as a notorious scavenging crew sees an opportunity for profit in these dire times…”

A GR-75 Transport comes into view while it is rounding an asteroid. Instead of a regular transport this GR-75 has a part of the lower hull removed to make room for a modest hangar bay from which a number of smaller spaceships set about towards a huge asteroid field. (In full Rogue One style text appears in the lower left corner of the screen: “The Graveyard (Remains of Alderaan), Core Worlds.”

Hi, I was thinking of doing a game as a mercenary/scavenger crew operating from a heavily modified GR-75. Within there there is at least a quadjumper and a few smaller vessels of your choice (AKA your ships). The crew consist of a few scavengers and other mercenary crew that come in handy whenever the Empire or other scavengers are in the same area. As specialists in the higher risk asset relocation of the scavenging trade the recent destruction of Alderaan has drawn the crew in hopes of quick credits.
I haven’t decided yet on the character sheet for this yet. One part of me is fond of giving you a simplified Edge of the Empire (EotE) roleplaying game sheet so that I can have some rolls here and there behind the scenes (the cool thing about it is that the dice are a narrative mechanic, rather than in D&D). Otherwise I would make a regular sheet. A core principle I do want to take from said roleplaying game is that, you can get some extra starting XP (or just character investment) by stating “obligations” you have. This might be the fact that your character sends a portion of the credits he or she earns to relatives, it might be a bounty on your head, a spice addiction or whatever, but they all follow the basic rule that they are not beneficial to your character, but hopefully beneficial to the roleplay you seek to gain.

For an EotE game I was thinking of the following:

Though the EotE would have no direct implications we can also just do a regular format with character description, skills, history etc. (which would also be included)
So just let me know if you are interested and if so, if you are willing to make a EotE sheet or not, don’t worry about min/maxing, I only throw the dice for story twists!

I'm interested! I've had some folks at the local gaming store trying to get me into Age of Rebellion; is that a similar system? Otherwise I'm new to this format.

Count me in!

@Basarin Good to hear. The system is exactly the same, but the obligation mechanic in here is switched for something else. But again, the system is only for me to make it narratively more random ^^

I'm brand new to these systems in general; I just picked up Age of Rebellion, but I could definitely use advice starting out. Thanks!

I am absolutely interested in this RP, and I like the idea of using the EotE mechanics for random narratives! One question though; would we be able to play Force-sensitive characters, provided they don't know about their potential at first, and it manifests mainly in random events around them?

(Also, I've never actually used EotE before, so I might be a bit slow to pick it up.)

@Korkoa Yes you may play a force-sensative, as long as it does not become a huge powerplay as opposed to the other players. This indeed means that I rather have no full blown jedi. Jedi in hiding who try to keep their powers a secret even from their fellow scavengers is ok though and so is your concept.

As for the system: The way I envision it is that the players only make a character sheet using Edge of the Empire rules, after that my creativity gets boosted by using the dice following the character sheets made. The impact on roleplay will be hardly appearent for the player. Just a means to aid me and make character creation a bit different.

@Basarin@Korkoa Are you ok with me waiting for a few days if this Roleplay picks up steam, after that, if there isnt much more interest, I might scale things down a bit so we are the crew of a smaller vessel with fewer NPC's needed to make it viable. Might be a bit impatient by posting this now, but its just passion ^^.

This is a bump at the same time :p

I am used to 5E D&D - but I would love to play in this. My lore is not very much up to date - so I will play an uninformed person, and ask many questions to aid me if possible - beyond that google is my friend. Should we use your character sheet as a base from which to work?

@Zetsuko Good to hear you are a bit interested, anything I can do to increase that interest?
Don't worry about the EotE part, thats only behind the curtain on my watch, you'll roleplay as normal safe for the bit of character creation.

@Almosegosum Basically it starts off during episode 4: A New Hope, after Alderaan was destroyed, There might trickle in some Rogue one stuff as well (spoiling anything for anyone than?) so don't worry about the lore. As for the Character sheet, yeah you can use that as a guideline, but if you have any additions or remarks, feel free.

I'll get the OOC up soon!

@Almosegosum I Like it very much! We have a doctor ladies and gentlemen. Quite essential. I will make a few additions/changes (nothing major) for the OOC in one of the comming days. Glad to see you enthusiastic. If you feel like it, you can choose to 'decorate' a cargo module for medical purposes and put it under a 'your quarters' tab or something the like. furthermore, but this will also end up in the OOC sheet:

What would you like to get out of this roleplay with your character? Answer it either in a hider so that other players neednt see, or just PM me if you have a great idea that you think is better kept a surprise for the others. This neednt be detailed, just a general sense of things.

I'll try to have a character sheet ready soon, but with family over time's going to be a bit sparse!

I'm fairly interested. The only thing that would confuse me is the sta. Wha'ts average? what's high? What's considered terrible? I'd just need the scale to be okay with the stats.

@Basarin@Korkoa@Zetsuko@Almosegosum@cunfuzzler@cunfuzzler@Caster

The OOC is up, hopefully this changes those 'A bit interested' 'mildly interested' or 'somewhat interested' into full blown joiners :p

roleplayerguild.com/topics/157655-star..

As for @Caster The OOC explains it as well now, but generally speaking
1 is below average
2 is average
3 is good
4 is Great
5 is ludacris amounts of specialization into a certain field.
