The year is 2025. Heroes such as Spiderman [Miles Morales] and Ms. Marvel [Kamala Khan] are getting grey and entering their 40's. Many heroes of their generation have already retired such as Nova [Sam Alexander], and Wolverine [X-23] is among the staff at the Xavier Institute. A new generation of heroes has already started hitting the scene with reports of a new Spider-person, among other things on the Daily Bugle jumbo-tron in Times Square. The world was recently devastated as Steve Rogers, the original Capt. America, passed away in his old age. His successor, Sam Wilson [aka the Falcon], retired from his honorary position as Capt. America shortly after and turned the shield back over to the government. However, nobody was prepared for the return of [insert villains]. How will the new generation of heroes manage? Team-ups? A new super-team? Allies will be made and lines will be drawn. Legacies must continue, heroes and villains reborn... or the future is lost.

This RP gives players an opportunity to continue legacies or build their own within the vastness of the Marvel U in a sandbox style role-play. Since folks like to play around with genderbending concepts and the like, it fits completely with the tone. You can recreate an Avenger, or an X-Man, take one of the F4 for a spin, skies the limit. Compacting the Marvel timeline a little and setting it only eight years in the future was more or less to put some age on the current Marvel NOW era. Though this will be a sandbox style RP, where players are responsible for their own character arcs, there will be key events happening that will effect the entire RP and eventually a team of some kind will need to come together to stop a mutual threat, or at the very least an alliance.

I'm also going to be one of those people who insists this is a High Casual RP. I'm not exactly looking for Advanced level length posts, I just don't want to have to assist everyone with their own individual stories because that isn't what a sandbox style RP is about. Two or three players could be working on their own thing in the game while I'm mimicking a battle like Hulk vs Thing with another player in the background. Depending on how far fetched the concept is, don't expect everything to be accepted. We're working off of a compacted timeline similar to the New52 DC Comics timeline. Basically the younger Avengers and heroes in general have began retiring within the last 2 years and this is the first time [insert villains] have made contact with Earth since the 'Classic Marvel' era. An older version of Miles or Kamala might gather a team of us to fight the currently unknown enemy, but other than that I don't want too many more mentor characters running around.

As far as a generational timeline, here's what I've got:

Golden Age Marvel: 1940 - 1959

Capt. America was created in 1941 during WWII to help defend against the Axis Powers. Soon after the Invaders would be formed along with Prince Namor and the android Human Torch. In 1945, in his final battle with the Red Skull, Capt. America was frozen in ice and lost for decades. Other Golden Age heroes would remain active off and on until around 1959.

'Classic' Marvel: 1980 - 1999

In 1981 Capt. America was found by SHIELD during a time when a group of heroes was gathered to assist Thor in taking down his evil brother Loki. Some time after Reed Richards managed to open a rift to the Negative Zone with cosmic radiation and tech that gave himself and three other individuals powers. The same year, 16 year old Peter Parker became the Amazing Spiderman. The Xavier Institute was opened August of 1984. Most of the heroes would remain active up through the year 2000...

Modern Marvel: 2000 - 2010

After nearly two decades of fighting the good fight again, Capt. America passes the shield down to his friend and ally, the Falcon. The former girlfriend of Thor lifted the Asgardian hammer and now wields the power of Mjolnir. The Amazing Spiderman was taken back when a new younger Spiderman named Miles hit the scene wearing webs. And Tony Stark was shown up by a 17 year old Riri Williams who was already about to graduate MIT Tech and built her own Ironman like suit.

Marvel REBORN: 2025

If Miles [Spiderman], Ms. Marvel [Kamala], Wolverine [X-23], and Nova [Sam] were around 16 years old in 2000, they're in their early 40's now. If Falcap was in his 40's during 'Modern Marvel' then now he'd be close to 60-65 same as the rest of the 'Classic Marvel' era. Heroes need replaced. Sons and daughters of 'Modern Marvel' characters can be created. Completely unrelated characters can take up the mantle of another hero similar to Riri Williams and X-23 replacing Tony Stark and Wolverine. Grandchildren of 'Classic Marvel' can be created. I'd even accept one or two time displaced heroes. Legacies must be REBORN...

Spiderman can be another young man again now that Miles is retiring, hell even a Spider-Girl could take his place. While I'd be open to accepting new takes on Spiderman and the Punisher [1st or 2nd string heroes], I'd be much more willing to accept changes in the 3rd and 4th stringers that everybody is less familiar with like a new Iron Fist, Dr. Strange, or Invisible Girl. Black Panther for example could be an 18 year old foreign exchange student from Wakanda, Wolverine could be a 15 year old male clone of Logan and a new student at the Xavier Institute, or the Wasp could be an insectoid again...

I'll be making a new take on the Thing who's gonna be a geokinetic that can move stone similar to DC's Terra [just without flying] who will also be able to form an armored stone suit.

So does anybody else have any ideas for Marvel 'the Next Generation'?!? Do you wanna boldly go there? I'm looking to recruit at least 6-9 players for this one!

Alias - Lanuae ( it is read Lanue and it means Teleport in latin )

Powers - Alexis can teleport, or transfer matter (beings/objects, including themselves) or energy from one point to another without traversing the physical space between them.
Weaknesses - Each time she uses her powers, a small dizziness overtakes her which gradually evolves into a headache and then a coma if she teleports too far. The farther she teleports, the stronger the dizziness/headache. Teleporting objects is harder than teleporting herself and 'thus the dizziness/headache installs faster into her.
Personality - Loyal, Wayward ( she likes to travel and never stay in the same place too much ), Cold-heartened
Experience - 6 months

She retained her human form ( opposite to Nightcrawler ) but gained his powers ( well...Nightcrawler only had the power to teleport himself without any dizziness/headaches etc. so she gained the power to teleport objects or other people but also gained the dizziness etc )

BRIEF Bio: Leroy was your average pathetic corporate scientist. He went to work coming up with brilliant ideas; his superior took all the credit. He was working on a stolen sample of the Hyde formula. He created numerous versions that he turned over to his superior. She used them on kidnapped homeless people. Each homeless person was turned into grotesque monstrosities and were killed, their corpses were destroyed. Eventually Leroy found out he used the latest version on himself. He didn’t know what it would do to him; he certainly would never have guessed what did happen. He was turned into a female with superhuman abilities. She confronts Leroy’s boss and is surrounded by security using her new powers she defeats them all and snaps the boss’ neck. After initiating an evacuation order she builds a bomb from the chemicals in the various labs. The bombs were placed in key places around the foundation and on various floors to ensure that the building’s destruction would not hurt anyone outside. Just before the explosion she walks out of there.

Key Differences: Not a grotesque monster, doesn’t lose intelligence, not a bad guy/gal

Sample Story Arcs:
Ms. Hyde could take decide she doesn’t want to share anymore and attempts to take over permanently
Leroy’s former employer could come looking to collect what is rightfully theirs, namely the formula coursing through his veins and Ms. Hyde.

Hi @The Kid Lantern I really love this idea, yet by looking back into my post you will find that I have devolved back into a low casual writing limitation. I use to be an advanced but have fallen from that drastically. I was wondering if you would be willing to let me jump in and really push myself to keep up with you guys. This will mean I probably won't write often (Also do to work) but I will do my best and learn quickly.

@manapool1 Part of the reason this RP is gonna be sandbox style is so that we can develop our characters at our own pace and not have to worry about holding somebody else back. All I really ask is for an IC post once about every week or so and to let us know you're alive in the OOC every so often.

Nightcrawler could teleport more than himself, he just had to be touching it. He quite literally used his power to take a half robotic man apart piece at a time, teleporting with different limbs and such.

Maybe she could at least have his pointy ears?

@Ashevelendar There are other teleporters in Marvel. Ariel, the Vanisher, Lily Cheney, Blink, Doorman.... to name a very few.

@The Kid Lantern I was considering possibly doing a vigilante version of the Green Goblin or possibly an eternal with similar powers to Hyperion (but most likely not quite as powerful).

Richard Tyke A.K.A. Dropout // WIP

Name - Richard Tyke

Alias - Dropout

Age - 24

Powers -

• Super Strength: Not as dramatic as most examples, Dropout can still nonetheless kill a man in a single punch and has been noted on at least one occasion to have ripped apart an armored vehicle to reach a target.
• Enhanced Durability: Much like his strength Dropout's durability isn't all that impressive, his skin comparable to a kevlar vest worn by most police officers. However it should be said that his bones are nearly unbreakable, needing metahuman strength or armor piercing rounds to get through.
• Healing Factor: Lesser in strength compared to the likes of Wolverine or Deadpool, the healing ability of Dropout is still a highly valuable boon. Bullet wounds can take upwards to three days to heal, while major wounds like burns or large slashes can take a week or more before he is combat ready.
• Enhanced Reflexes: The only comparably outstanding power in his repertoire, Dropout reflexes and processing ability are such that he sees the world slower than most other people. With his strength he is able to snap his muscles incredibly fast, moving at great speeds to meet with nearly any threat and besting most in hand-to-hand combat through sheer speed, while his durability and healing factor keeps personal damage done to a minimum.

Weaknesses -
While making him nearly unbeatable to normal people, Dropout's skill set and equipment lack the appropriate stopping power for more powerful foes. In addition, while very cunning and in tune with his instincts, Dropout isn't the brightest bulb in the set and tends to just walk into danger without much of a plan. Finally the guy is poor as hell, living out in an abandoned warehouse surviving on whatever money he can scrounge up from his targets and is a habitual chainsmoker.

Personality - A quiet guy by nature, doesn't say much unless he really needs to and never speaks while "on the hunt". He is nonetheless determined to do what he sees as his job of cleaning the streets in a more permanent manner and is unflinching in the few morals he has in completing that goal.

Experience - 2 years

Appearance - Brown haired, green eyed, and fair skinned, Dropout is a fairly plain looking individual unlikely to turn any heads. He is perfectly average, with only his well developed musculature and garishly colored clothing being any real identifying marks. He is 6'1 and 200lbs with no tattoos, piercings, or scars to identify him with.

BRIEF Bio -

Key Differences - Dropout is a composite character from several mediums, with Punisher being the only real relevant one to this medium. He is similar in that they share their lethal view of justice, but that's about it. Dropout is a mutant with none of Frank Castle's resources, forced to make due with whatever is around to do his business. On top of this he is forced to only really attack the bottom rung of crime as he has no way of digging for information besides interrogating the bottom of the barrel thugs of the local crime bosses, who don't even know all that much themselves. Beyond that Dropout is... well a dropout from the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning, a mutant who went on the run who really enjoys CQC a little too much.

Sample Story Arcs -
1). Gets in trouble with the law with his brutal form of vigilante justice, fights other heroes while trying to stay free.
2). Joins forces with someone new taking up the "Punisher" mantle, or becoming the apprentice of an aged Punisher.
3). X-Men catch wind of what he's doing and comes to stop him and/or convince him to come back.

Supporting Characters -
Crime Bosses, a new Kingpin perhaps.
Police.
Other more Lawful Good heroes.

Notes -
Wields a vast array of melee weapons due to their cheapness and availability, along with the rush he gets when he pastes some badguy.

I'm planning on playing Dropout as someone who deeply enjoys doing what he does, but is fully aware that what he does is inherently wrong because it's pretty messed up just walking into a gang spot armed with a meat cleaver and leaving with a lot of new stains. I'm not sure yet on how this will play out, he'll either climb out of this rabbit hole he's found himself in or he'll just keep going until he becomes exactly what he set out to fight.

@Pathfinder I just read what you wrote. A really nice character.
I'm planning on making my character similar to what you've done. Meaning that she's an ex-con, a criminal ( Punisher style if you wanna call it like that ) but she only kills bad guys but she kills for pleasure more than for justice's sake.

Your char and mine could make a hell of a team together. My opinion at least. How does that sound to you? :)

I'm down to clown with that, that's kinda my dudes schtick more or less for now. Kinda think like... Dexter, he has impulses to hurt people but knows it's wrong. So he channels it in the only positive way he knows how, by crunching criminal skulls.
