Welcome to NYC
What's left of it is not pretty. Unlike most of the north east, New York was not decimated by Texas, its central government fell apart due to political infighting, and New York City became a free for all for all the lawlessness in the state. A vicious warlord called the Jersey Devil came in like a mob boss and ran the city for a short while before gangs from all over europe started to invade and tipped the balance of power out of any one organisation's hands. But NYC was still a fairly robust city, and a few goveners believe society still has a chance. Putting together all the money they can muster, they have hired 5 pilots from around the globe, each assigned a borough to represent, to come together and 'clean up' the city altogether, so that New York can finally be liberated. This is the story of the New York 5.
The World Overview
Sky warriors is set in a post apocalypic Earth where a dangerous American war of the states set the entire world in turmoil around 2105 A.D. The war was so devastating that the entire world essenttially had to 'start again' with civilisation. Soon most resources, cultures and gorvernments simply melted away. The notable thing about this massive war is that it was fought almost entirely in the air, but after almost a century of vicious world wide air battles most military technology was gone, and the nations lacked the resources to keep building more, also many great military engineers were executed and the knowledge and skill to build aircraft began to fade away. But hidden deep in undiscovered bunkers from the 20th century lies prototypes of war time aircraft, specifically from the 1920s 1940s and 1990s, the aerial dogfight was reborn and the fighter pilot entered a new era........
Global Conflicts
War records arent entirely reliable as there is very litte regulation and accurate record keeping in the post apocalyptic world. But it is widely recognised that the global conflicts started around 2090 when the state of Texas wanted independence from the rest of the U.S. to become an independent military state. Somewhere in that demand they began a war with Nevada, while the rest of the U.S. stayed
out of it. This was until Canada became involved to directly challenge Texas (now branded the Lone Star Land). Then United states turned into a bit of a frenzy as many states began forming their own coalitions and entire north american continent erupted into civil war. During the next century many countries, states and nations were absolutely destroyed and many able fighter pilots began starting their own factions, crews and criminal gangs. All around the rest of the world many former nations began to split off and form independent military organisations. The word as many knew it was essentially over. There was only chaos, crime and conflict now.
Breakdown Of the Rules
1. GM is God, GM is law, argue with me and you'll be no more.
2. Commitment is important I need you engaged and posting regularly, if anything comes up where you need to drop out or not post for a while LET ME KNOW PM or say something in the OOC it only takes 5 seconds.
3. When in Combat with enemy aircraft, the battles will be conducted like 'Arena' style combat so no Auto Hitting, you can only fire your weapons at the enemy but you cant hit or damage them unless the GM reacts to the attack as them being hit. For example you can say 'Tommy fired his machine gun at the bandit's wing' but not 'Tommy riddled the opponent with bullets and the bandit exploded' until After the enemy (GM) has confirmed the hit/damage. BUT as the GM I can occasionally auto hit you, if I feel the battle calls for it or if I think you cant realistically dodge the attack that my enemy aircraft are making.
4. Because of different posting speeds, I'll need to sometimes puppet you guys mainly just to keep the plot moving, I try to do this as little as possible and mainly to hurry on past basic travelling or flavour text interactions. But if you aren't posting then prepare to be puppeted and maybe even Shot down in the next encounter.
5. One of our players brought up a good point and I thought I'd cover this here, this is an unrealist future arcade video game like fighting pilot game. Air craft specs and hyper realistic flying physics take a backseat for 'the rule of cool' and 'flashy starfox' manouvers. Not to say this is a FREE level Roleplay its still high casual-low advanced. But the game mechanics put in by the class system are governing the style of gameplay 'at least for fights' that we have such as the dueling system and damage boosts etc. Ive done this to make the game more accessible and fun and I've allowed use of ALL types of warplanes 1910s-1970 to compete on the same level for aesthetic purposes, its the rule of fun. But the RP is mainly about the story and the interaction of the pilots working as a team and surviving.
