This rp would take place in a mythical world similar to modern day with some key exceptions such as the presence of magic, daemons, higher deities, and a few advancements in technology. And to be quite honest, I’m not good at pitching an idea in a paragraph or two, so please check out the sections I’ve made to explain the world and the story that would play out! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
*Looking for committed roleplayers that will be willing to help form the story with me
Setting The world of Unitatis is comprised of three continents: Fortitudo, Temperantia, and Iustitia. The northeastern land of Fortitudo possesses a powerful crystal, which was gifted by the gods in antiquity to the reigning Elisium dynasty. Temperantia, located in the south, is made up of islands and has been annexed by the Iustitian empire, which lies to the west and benefits from its advanced technology. The province of Sapientia is under Iustitia's control, but maintains some autonomy due to the presence of the oracle, a priestess who has the power to fight a plague that turns people and animals into vicious daemons. Watching over Unitatis are the divine beings that can appear in the mortal realm, usually as colossal and powerful beings known as the Deorum. For hundreds of years Fortitudo and Iustitia have been at war. While many lands have been lost to the empire, the Fortitudan capital of Somnium remains untouched due to the Murus, a barrier maintained by the king and the crystal's magic. Peace talks have begun in hopes of bringing an end to the conflict, one of the conditions being a marriage of Prince Adam and Lady Eliana, the oracle.
For the most part, the story will focus around our heroes venturing around the world during this time of war in hopes of finding a way to turn the tide back in their favor. There will be side stories that mix into the main plot as well, such as the curious existence of daemons in the world. I also have a general idea of where I would like the story to go, but I would greatly like for participants to actively give ideas and help form the story along with me. We’re all participating, so it would be more fun to make a story we’re all happy to be a part of.
Unitatis According to the legends of the human population, Unitatis was created by a race of beings that descended from a higher plane. The deorum formed a key part in this creation process. The mysterious beings retreated from the world, while the deorum would remain - in future years, they would become recognized as a race of their own, with their own language and agendas, and a wish to protect the natural world.
Fortitudo The Kingdom of Fortitudo is a powerful nation in the world of Unitatis. It contains Fortitudo's Crystal within its capital, Somnium. It is ruled by the Elisium bloodline that is sworn to protect the Crystal and, one day, hopefully learn to wield its power. Fortitudo is a highly advanced and culturally intact. Fortitudo prospers thanks to the presence of its Crystal. This magical artifact alienates the kingdom from the rest of the world, which has fallen under Iustitia's control. Fortitudo’s Crystal is kept safe from those who would seek to steal it by King Leon Elisium, who ages rapidly because he must use his magic along with the Crystal to maintain the Murus barrier around Somnium. King Leon is widowed with a single son as his heir; Adam.
.Somnium - The capital of the kingdom of Fortitudo and is known as the "Royal City." Somnium hosts Fortitudo's seat of power, and it contains a large Crystal within its walls. A modern metropolis stacked with skyscrapers, the Royal City contains lush areas but is surrounded by a wasteland. The city's seat of power is at the Citadel, from where the Murus barrier that protects the city is projected from, and where the royal family lives.
Temperantia An island or archipelago spanning nation, Temperantia is to the southeast of the Fortitudan Continent. Its most prominent city is Mutare, a city on water navigated via waterways. It is part of the Iustitian Empire, but has its own government.
.Mutare – The capital of Temperantia, surrounded by water, and being characterized by waterfalls and canals. Mutare is known to be one of the cities closest tied to nature while maintaining the status of a city. Bit is also known to be one of the few places in the world where magic is widely practiced and utilized in everyday life.
Iustitia The Empire of Iustitia has achieved world domination bar the Kingdom of Fortitudo that has defended itself with the Crystal's power. Sapientia has limited autonomy from Iustitia due to Lady Eliana, said to have the blood of the oracle and has the power to commune with the gods. Iustitia is technologically superior and more advanced than most nations of the world. Automobiles originate from Iustitia, even though the cars made in Fortitudo are seemingly more advanced.
.Sapientia - A province under Iusticia's control. The homeland of Eliana Botanica, it maintains some level of autonomy thanks to Eliana's status as an Oracle. Sapientia is a lush, green, mountainous area abundant in castle-like structures. The region is known to have many rare types of plants and flowers.
Our Heroes' Story Adam Elisium, a powerful mage due to his lineage, travels to the capital city of Temperentia, where he is to meet his childhood friend, Lady Eliana. During the trip, he learns the Iustitian empire has attacked his home, the City of Somnium, killed his father as well as stolen the sacred crystal. Together with his friends and assigned protectors, Adam seeks out members of the Royal Guard who may have survived to aid them in the battles to come. Little does he know that this will take him and his friends on an adventure all across Unitatis with many battles to come.
I would be playing Adam Elisium as well as some other NPC’s that would come and go throughout the rp. I am looking for 3 other characters (1 character per participant, and then NPC’s later down the line depending) to be his close friends and assigned protectors. Each character would, of course, have their own unique set of skills, whether it be magic, weaponry, etc. I really don’t have any restrictions when it comes to magic or weapons, although just keep it realistic to an extent. AKA the character cannot be indestructible/invincible. On top of their strengths, the characters should have very notable flaws and weaknesses. For example, though Adam Elisium is a powerful mage who is capable of powerful spells and a large variety of them. That being said, he has very minimal physical combat skills, and his cockiness often leads to openings and, essentially, dumb mistakes. (I will be putting up a CS for this character soon, just touching up some things).
Name: Adam Elisium
Gender: Male
Age: 21
Appearance: Adam is a young man standing at 5’10”, lean and fit with azure eyes and wavy dark brown hair. He can often be seen wearing a red long sleeved shirt that sports his family crest in black on the left side of his chest as well as black cargo shorts and black high-topped shoes when it comes to combat and travel, preferring to keep his outfit simple and light (the large pockets of his shorts making it easy to store gemstones as well as access them). Other times, though, he can be seen in more formal attire. He often wear a white button down shirt under a brown vest and a large red jacket. He also wears black dress pants and formal dress shoes with it, and on occasion he will wear a red tie with the rest of his formal attire.
Likes: Sweets, books, teasing his friends
Dislikes: Technology/appliances in general, bugs
Personality: Adam is a perceptive, serious, resourceful, and very competitive person. Though he is widely known as a prim and proper honorable prince, it is a front he puts up in order to prevent others from prying into his life. In private, he is notably loud, shrewd, stingy, and bossy, but usually means well for those he cares about. His manner of speech is often hostile and dismissive of other people, but deep down he has a caring, big-brotherly disposition. Her tendency of making trivial mistakes at the worst possible moment is a hereditary curse. Though he really is a lot nicer than he seems, he claims to always make his decisions based on cold, rational logic in the end. Despite claiming that he would do anything in order to win, no matter how underhanded, he has a deeply rooted sense of honor.
Background: Adam is the son of King Leon, the Prince of Fortitudo and thus heir to the Elisium line. His mother, Queen Vera, died when he was an infant. At a very young age, Adam studied under mentor after mentor, practicing magic and studying day in and day out. It certainly was not the sort of life a child wanted to live, but at the same time, Adam felt a strong desire to uphold his family’s expectations and become a string and powerful mage. It was because of this that he snuck out one night to attempt slaying a daemon in secret. Adam wanted to prove his prowess as a mage, feeling underestimated by his teachers and father. Needless to say, this did not go over well, ultimately resulting in his serious injury and his father and his assistants coming to his age. The injuries he had taken were very serious, weak and frail from the daemonic toxins he had received. In the end, King Leon felt the best decision was to send his son to the country of Sapientia in order to get the treatment he needed. Adam spent a few months in Sapientia recovering, befriending the young Princess Eliana. He learned about the crystal of Fortitudo and how his father is its sworn protector from Eliana. She told Adam all sorts of prophecies of events to come, though he took them as mere stories at the time. Their time was cut short, though, when the Iustitian Empire invaded Sapientia. Adam barely escaped with the young Noctis. *How Adam met his friends goes here* Now at age 21, Adam, as the heir to the Lucian throne, sets forth from his homeland to formalize the union of states with Lady Eliana of the imperial province of Sapientia.
Weapons/Tools: .Casting Stones – gemstones imbued with magical energy used in order to cast powerful spells and magical techniques
.Dagger – a small dagger used for close combat, something Adam only uses at dire situations and has no other choice but to use it
Magic/Abilities: Adam his a highly skilled mage, able to use several types of elemental magic and other abilities.
.Fire – [Strong] Adam is able to use powerful fire attack spells, often using it to fire fireball projectiles at his enemies. He is also very skilled in combining fire spells with dark spells to make even more powerful attacks.
.Earth – [Moderate] Adam is able to use earth magic in several useful ways such as sensory of observation of the surrounding area, obtaining gemstones, and sometimes tracking through means of small gemstone golems. He can, however, further his abilities with earth magic through combination of light and dark spells. (See Light/Aether and Dark/Void for more explanation)
.Wind – [Weak] Adam has very little handle on wind magic, being too loose and free of a magic style for him to learn easily. He can occasionally manage a powerful gust of wind, but not much more than that.
.Lightning - [High-Moderate] Adam uses lightning magic to send forth fast, powerful projectiles to strike his opponent.
.Water/Ice - [Low-Moderate] Adam is able to use rather basic water magic to perform basic attacks and slow down his opponents through freezing spells. He is also able to perform basic healing spells through combination of water and aether magic, though he has only ever been able to heal minor injuries.
.Light/Aether – [Weak] Adam is able to perform weak binding spells using light magic, and can create a sort of flash bomb as well. However, this is the extent to his handle on light/aether magic without using it in combination with other types of magic, such as healing with water magic to tend to minor wounds or defensively with earth magic to create magical crystalline barriers and walls.
.Dark/Void – [Strong] Adam is highly skilled in dark/void magic, becoming familiar with curses and support magic to make his other spells stronger. He often uses it in combination with fire spells to deliver devastating blows, and occasionally uses it to create sudden golem appendages to deliver powerful blows (done in practice, never in actual battle). Adam can also use this type of magic to perform Blink; an ability that allows the user to “teleport” in a sense a short distance to avoid attacks. Though Adam is highly skilled in this type of magic, this does become strenuous after a long period of time and depletes his energy.
Other Items: The Coronam - A black, four-seat convertible with an interior made of dark leather. It is a vehicle on loan from King Leon for Adam and his friends to travel with.

Side Character's
Name: Eliana Botanica
Gender: Female
Age: 24
Appearance: Despite being a young woman in her twenties, Eliana has the appearance of a 14 year old girl. She has big, bright, blue eyes that seem to look right into one’s very being. She has long blonde, wavy hair with two braids in the back that reaches down to her ankles. Her attire consists of a long white robe-like dress that looks similar to a stola, with loose short sleeves over her shoulders that are secured by a round fibula, and a long blue ribbon tied under her bust.
Likes: Flowers, dogs
Dislikes: Unnecessary conflict
Personality: Eliana is a strong-willed woman who talks about her hopes and dreams, acting on her own initiative. She focuses on the future and works to prevent the world from plunging into complete darkness. Befitting of her duties as Oracle, Eliana possesses unparalleled compassion towards. Eliana and Adam are childhood friends, but their status as nobility often making their relationship more complicated. She is said to be the presence that supports Adam’s for him to fulfill his destiny.
Background: Eliana was once royalty of Sapientia and were close allies with the Royal Family of Fortitudo. She and Prince Adam of Fortitudo are childhood friends, and the memories they share are cherished by both. The two spent time together following Adam's near-death experience, when an eleven-year-old Eliana kept him company while he was recuperating. During this time, Eliana told Adam about the Crystal of Fortitudo and how his lineage had been chosen by the gods to expel the plague of darkness from the world. Though the eight-year-old Adam did not understand what it meant, he promised Eliana he would do it. Iustitia invaded Sapientia and killed many officials of the Royal Family of Sapientia, including Eliana's mother, Queen Silvia, who also had the blood of the Oracle. While fleeing from Iustitian forces with Leon, Adam, and Jitka, Eliana chose to stay behind to be with her remaining family and Sapientia was surrendered to Iustitia's control. Eliana was held in captivity, so it is implied she had a rough childhood. When Eliana was sixteen, she took on the official role of Oracle, though her abilities had only developed two years prior, marking her as the youngest Oracle in history under supervision from the empire. It was then that she would decide to begin traveling the lands to heal those who needed her powers.
Weapons/Tools: Ceremonial Spear - The traditional weapon of the Oracles' bloodline.
Magic/Abilities: .The Blood of the Oracle - The Oracle is a person charged with maintaining the stability of Unitatis by cleansing the world and communing with its gods. Deorum are intelligent immortal creatures that have their own agendas, and speak a unique language only understood by those touched by them. Oracles inherit their abilities through their family bloodline, and they use them to halt the plague on the world that brings about the birth of daemons. Legend has it the deorum Virtus descended from the stars and picked the first Oracle from the land of Sapientia. He bestowed the Oracle's powers of divination and healing upon her and gave her his spear. The Oracles of the Botanica dynasty became the royal family of the kingdom of Sapientia, and they remain very popular among the people of Unitatis.
.Elemantal Magic – Eliana is very skilled in the arts of water, wind, and aether magic, mostly using her magic to heal and protect rather than offensively. It is most likely that her affinity for magic is derived from the blood of the Oracle.
.Ever Youthful - For reasons unknown, when a member of the Botanicafamily will appear to stop aging, maintaining the appearance of when their abilities take form as an Oracle.

Things to Keep in Mind
Technology would be on par with modern day technology (ie cars, guns, cellphones, etc.), with the exception of airships, robotic and mech-like technology, and some weapon and military equipment advancements.
Said to be physical manifestations of the stars' power, deorum are hinted to be connected to the world's creation. They are intelligent immortal creatures that have their own agendas and speak a unique language only understood by those touched by gods. Indifferent to human affairs, deorum behavior cannot be interpreted because their thought patterns transcend the comprehension of mankind. The deorum are depicted as humanoid in ancient paintings and texts, the physical bodies in which they appear to mortals vary, however. The deorum are said to slumber in Unitatis, such as Terra, but also appear to exist in another realm. The deorum are the only beings known to be able to exist in both the mortal realm and in a realm that has only ever been told as the "Realm of the Six." The only time the deorum have ever been known to aid mankind was for one man; the “king chosen by the heaven,” the original king of Fortitudo.
Terra – The goddess of the earth and land, is said to have caught a crystalline meteorite when it fell to Unitatis in ancient times from the heavens. She is said to sleep while carrying the land on her back.
Caelus – The god of storms and knowledge, said to have gifted man with the power to learn magical arts. He is said to look down upon humanity from the heavens.
Volturnus – The god of the sea and waters, is said to have little affection toward mortals. He is said to take out his wrath on the mortal world when not pleased by his “subjects.”
Suadela – The goddess of beauty and snow, is said to be the messenger of the heavens. She has a great affection toward humanity and is depicted to care for humanity similarly to a mother.
Virtus – The god of war and virtue, is said to have fought alongside the “king chosen by the heavens.” He is said to be the king of the deorum.
Cacus – The god of fire and wrath, is known as the Wicked among the deorum. He is said to have betrayed his own kind and does as he pleases.
Magic is a mysterious force in Unitatis, but it is also one that is heavily studied and used. There are not many that have the abilities to use it, but those who do can use their skills to study and master all sorts of magic and spells. In the end, though, a great deal of mages will fall into a specific “class” or “types.” It is rare for a mage to be able to decide their own type of magic style, for most magic and the kinds that one can use depends on the person’s nature themselves. In a sense, the study chooses the student, not the other way around.
Magic Types .Elemental – Elemental magic, in most studies, is considered the fundamental breakdown of all magic. Most studies can break all magic into at least four key elements; air, earth, fire, and water. There are several other studies that will often focus on a fifth element, different depending on which type of magic you study (spirit, void, aether, etc). This Fifth Element differs from the four fundamental elements that are derived from nature and instead is found within the mage themselves and requires the use of their own magical energy. It is important to note that none of these studies are better than the other, and at the same time, none of them are more correct or incorrect in their studies. Magic is a very fluid force that exists in all sorts of places and can be used in a variety of ways.
-Air/Wind – This type of magic focuses on the key fundamental element of wind, using it in the form of power gusts of wind, or even focusing it into razor sharp gales. Of all the elements, wind magic is considered to be the most “free spirited,” making mastery of it difficult to those with a more serious or rigid nature.
-Earth – This type of magic focuses on the key fundamental element of earth, used in all sorts of uses ranging from defensive and architectural styles, though it has been known to be used in both offensive and healing styles as well. Earth is the “level headed” element, often easily studied by those with a more stable and serious natures.
-Fire – This type of magic focuses on the key fundamental element of fire, often used more in offensive styles than anything else. Fire is the “passionate” element, often easily studied by those with emotional or irrational natures.
-Lightning – This element has been to consider to be a used of both wind and fire magic, though in some studies it considered to be its own fifth element, independent of nature. It focuses of the use of lightning in offensive magic, often used in studies of battle magic. Depending on the mages style, it can be both summoned or generated from raw magical energy, being the key reason why it is a mystery whether it can truly be considered a Fifth Element or not.
-Water – This type of magic focuses on the key fundamental element of water, used in a range of offensive as well as defensive styles. Water is considered to be a very “fluid” element that can be used by many types of natures, making it both easy and difficult to learn depending on the student.
-Aether/Light – The Fifth element of light that is often used in healing styles as well as dispelling Daemons, curses, and other dark forces. Being a Fifth element, it has no true nature it can be used by, and the reasoning for mastery is unknown.
-Void/Dark – The Fifth Element that is often used in offensive on destructive styles. Being a Fifth element, it has no true nature it can be used by, and the reasoning for mastery is unknown.
.Sound Magic – A magic style that uses sound waves as a basis of their spells, often used by those with a higher affinity to wind magic. This type of magic is often utilized in offensive or ailing styles, though sometimes used in hypnotic ways.
.Summoning Magic – This type of magic focuses on the use of magic to summon weapons, tools, or (though it is not as common) living creatures. More times than not, this style of magic relies heavily on a Fifth Element affinity, usually Void/Dark.
.Time Magic – This is a fickle type of magic, often used with an affinity to a Fifth Element, to manipulate the flow of time whether it be speeding up, slowing down, of bringing it to a halt. This magic is often uses to speed up one’s reflexes and movements, or even slowing them down on a target. This is an extremely rare type of magic, and though use of helping accelerate one’s reflexes is relatively common, the affect can only last for a few moments.
Common Mage Classes .Bard – A magical style that focuses on the use of sound in its spells, which can be used through voice, instruments, tools, etc.
.Black Mage - A study of magic that specializes in the use of elemental magic in an offensive style. Often, Black Mages will study several teachings in order to get a grasp on multiple elemental styles as well as a handle on multiple types of Fifth Elements. However, it is extremely rare to master all, let alone more than one Fifth Elemental teaching, which is why most Black Mages are considered to be “users of many, masters of none.”
. Artillery Mage – A study of magic used to summon weapons/tools at will, most mages either specializing in the summoning of a certain type of weapon or learning a small range of varying types.
.Augmenter – A study of magic that uses magical energy to enhance physical strength, speed, and other aspects to enable the user an edge in physical combat. If skilled enough, the user may even be able use other types of magic to enhance their attacks (ex. Using elemental magic or other types of magic to perform things such as strikes of fire or electricity), though most turn to this use when having a low affinity for the key fundamentals of magic.
.Summoner – A study where the user calls upon servants to offer aid or fight alongside/for the mage. This is a very difficult study of magic to master, and can be used in a variety of ways depending on the user. Similarly to Artillery Mages, Summoner’s often specializing in summonings of a certain type or learning a small range of varying types of summonings.
.White Mage – A study of magic that specializes in the use of elemental magic in a defensive style. Similarly to Black Mages, White Mages will often study several teachings in order to get a grasp on multiple elemental styles as well as a handle on multiple types of Fifth Elements. White Mages also specialize in healing spells as well.
*Magic styles are not limited to what I have above, these are merely what I could think of at the moment and will probably be added upon throughout time. If you have more to add or something you would like to discuss or question, feel free to ask!
Daemons are beings that thrive in the dark, and are damaged by light. They lurk in old ruins and caves, and emerge out in the open at night. If they are out when the sun rises, black mist begins to emit from their bodies as they take damage from sunlight. Daemons are thus also repelled by the bright lights of inhabited areas, and even the strongest headlights of cars, so long as they are the right brand. Outside of daemons, there are also some monsters and beasts that commonly appear at both day and night, though most are not nearly as dangerous and savage as daemons.
That's perfectly fine! I figured anything from swords to guns would be perfectly fine.I have a rough CS made up for my character if you want an idea of how to make the CS.

@SaberClass4242I feel you should give all of those magical elements their own section. I get some idea of what they do from Adam's CS, but a full explanation would be welcome.
In the mean time, is all magic elemental? If so, if one was going to conjure or summon an inanimate object, like, say, a sword, what element would that fall under?
@Fisticuffs There are a few things that can happen, depending on which set of laws of physics you are basing the summoning/conjuration on: the physical laws or the magical laws.
In the physical laws, mass is conserved. Therefore, the sword can either be created using nearby matter(manipulation/creation) or summoned(transported from one location to the other).
Creating the sword via manipulation can work by drawing out the carbon and/or other metals from the surroundings and condensing them into a single mass. The "Creation" method would likely use Earth magic, but may require background knowledge on the periodic elements.
Summoning the sword will likely be more difficult, as it would require the sword to be broken down into energy, transferred, and rearranged into its previous state without any loss; the existence of magic will likely help in achieving this. Alternatively: the distance between point A, where the object currently is, and point B, where the object is being summoned to, can be shortened by manipulating space until the points meet, making the transfer instant. The "Transference" method likely uses Aether magic, as it can manipulate pure energy(like light)and move it along a path. The "Blink" method likely uses Void magic, as it requires space itself to be manipulated. Both are(in my opinion) significantly more difficult to achieve than the "Creation" method.
If we assume that summoning/conjuration follows magic's laws, then the sword "does not exist"; mana does not have matter, and is merely used to imitate the properties of matter.
Therefore, in order to use the "Conjuration" method, one must have an exact understanding of the properties of the object being summoned; living creatures are much harder to summon, as the ego is not so easily imitated. ----- Mana exists in two states, "Law" and "Chaos". Mana in the Law state is usually bound to physical objects(gems, people, etc), and will often cause atmospheric mana to shift towards Law. As a result, beings with sensitivity towards changes in mana can detect when a presence with a high Law characteristics(in other words, objects with large amounts of stored mana) are nearby. Atmospheric mana will always be in the Chaos state. However, there are exceptions to these rules that result in certain phenomenon.
In order to cast magic, Law mana inside the body must be agitated into the Chaos state. The Chaos mana is then expelled from the body, centered around a Law "core". However, the Law mana that makes up the core is unstable due to not being bound to anything physical, and thus the "image" of the spell becomes necessary for the magic to travel any significant distance. One's ability to visualize the core often determines their aptitude towards certain types of magic.
(Summoning is unique in that summoned objects or creatures are separate from the image of the caster--they themselves are the concept used to shape the mana. Summoned creatures' self-conscious existences are similar to that of the Deorum--concepts with egos, albeit less powerful.)
Normally it is impossible to bind Chaos mana to an object. However, there are two exceptions:
By engraving certain symbols on an object, it is given increased Law characteristics that forcibly anchors Chaos mana to it. The symbols also provides "imagery" to the mana, similarly to how reading a description can invoke an image in one's mind. Should any of the symbols be damaged, the stored mana will explode(Summoning circles must be perfect, or else the summoning will fail).
The existence of monsters are the second exception to the rule. Chaos mana will shift violently while confined to a vessel; if the vessel is living, the mana will cause rapid growth, creating a monster. For this reason, engraving symbols onto a living being is considered a forbidden magic. -----
