She learned it from the books she read on the institute. Pretty much self-taught. She learned it just because she wanted to make her spider bomb idea a reality. She spent months making a normal-sized spider bomb (about the size of a dog) before she could really get how the parts and materials really combined together, thus allowing her to manifest the miniature version.

Sounds reasonable?

  • Name: Clarabelle Halloway
  • Age: 16
  • Gender: Female
  • Personality: Clarabelle is often seen as creepy or strange. She is quiet and frequently alone, talking to her dolls. She surrounds herself with the dolls she creates, utilizing them for a variety of purposes. Her voice betrays little emotion, and she often has nearly no expression on her face. Indeed, it's rare to see her smile at all. Few people can claim to have seen such a thing. She rarely speaks to others at all, and comes across as cold and emotionless. However, the reasoning behind her behavior is in fact due to a loneliness spawned by her own unapproachable attitude. Her tendency to eerily stare, smile worryingly when discussing sharp objects and what her dolls can use them for, and the eerie threats she tends to dispense during fights have not helped her make friends, but she also fears attempting to approach others in general. For all her apparently eerie behavior and actions, she quite simply fears rejection. Clarabelle's dolls cannot reject her, and therefore she surrounds herself in them, coming off as antisocial and cold due to her fear of others. It's easier to reject others then to be rejected herself, after all. Unfortunately due to her extremely lonely nature, Clarabelle is also liable to become clingy and overprotective of anyone who doesn't reject her, as she has no idea how to handle having relationships with other humans aside from having a fear of losing them. At the same time, she is likely to exhibit intense loyalty to anyone who actually manages to become her friend.

In combat, Clarabelle usually maintains expressionless nature. However, she actually quite enjoys utilizing her dolls in a fight, and as such it can actually bring a smile to her lips. In these circumstances, Clarabelle somewhat embraces her eerie reputation and often makes disconcerting comments. She is, in actuality, quite an intelligent strategist and highly capable of manipulating multiple dolls independently in order to meet success in battle.

Clarabelle deeply enjoys fairy tales and nursery rhymes, and dresses her dolls as different characters from her favorite stories.
  • Backstory: When Clarabelle was very young, she fell deathly ill. Her family, the incredibly rich Halloway family, was desperate to find a cure. But there was little they could do until enough research was conducted. As such, Clarabelle spent much of her childhood confined to a bed in her room, unable to leave and barely able to walk. The illness stunted her growth and sapped the color from her skin and hair, leaving her pale and with pure white hair. She was never able to leave her room even on her better days, and as such she was never able to interact with others as a child. Eventually, with extensive treatment and recovery, Clarabelle was cured. But she had spent years of her life locked away with little to no human interaction, surrounded by soft toys and dolls. When she was let out back into the real world, she had no idea how to interact with others. Her weak attempts to make friends were met with confusion and rejection, and she was labeled strange and creepy. Clarabelle was unable to understand how to interact with others, and this lack of understanding lead to her growing fear of rejection for reasons she was unable to understand. More and more, she locked herself away and interacted only with her dolls. Her eerie behavior became even more apparent, especially after her ability to control and manipulate her energy was discovered. Her created dolls became her only friends. After all, they couldn't reject her.

Now, at the academy, things haven't changed much at all for Clarabelle. She still surrounds herself in her dolls.
  • Appearance: Delicate and doll-like, as fragile-looking as the things she creates, and yet somehow eerie. She is very small and frail, the size of a child.
  • Equipment: Clarabelle carries a variety of doll-sized dresses, and a pair of scissors. She also equips her dolls with a variety of sharp objects, such as knives and lances. She wants to get some form of explosive to place inside of her dolls as well.
  • Abilities: Clarabelle is actually quite competent with needlework, and can multitask rather effortlessly, using dolls to perform multiple tasks simultaneously. However, she is very poor at food preparation. Clarabelle is also very physically frail and unable to stand up against any blows to her body, due to her past illness. However, she is an excellent strategist and very willing to set up nasty traps to deceive her foe.
  • Channeller category: Architect
  • Description of power: Garten der Leeran Jungfrauen - Clarabelle can create and control dolls, manufacturing their components utilizing her energy and, usually, manually assembling them. She can generate them fully assembled but claims she feels less attachment to dolls created in that manner. The dolls are not particularly durable on their own, but are armed with various sharp objects and are capable of flight. She can control their slightest movements independently, and they are all under her total command. She stores dolls inside her skirt and sleeves as well for rapid deployment.
  • Names/descriptions of moves:
    • Leere Jungfrauen - Clarabelle's basic ability to create dolls.
    • Hohle Seele: A copy of Clarabelle herself, a life-sized doll as identical to the real thing as she is capable of. Her intent, at least, is to use it as a decoy, and stock the interior with explosives in order to be used as a trap.
    • Großes Mädchen aus Stahl: A huge doll wielding an enormous lance. Far more durable and strong then the other dolls, standing a little over six meters in height. A very dangerous enemy, Clarabelle rides upon its shoulder when in combat. In appearance, the Grand Maiden resembles Alice from the famed fairytale, with long, flowing blonde hair and blue and white clothing.
  • Character theme song: Hartmann's ... Doll... Using... Girl?
  • Other: N/A

I also have a more direct attacker in mind maybe.

Oh hey, something important I really should've mentioned in the OP but completely forgot to: since this RP is meant to play on a lot of shounen tropes and cliches, I'm mostly looking for characters that are the typical types of characters you see in shounen anime. Here's a quote from my IntCheck thread that puts it pretty well:

This RP will specifically be playing on shounen anime cliches and tropes, as well as just anime tropes in general, so I'm looking for characters that intentionally play up the shounen character stereotypes. Y'know what I'm talking about: the firey, determined, naive airhead protagonist (Goku, Luffy, Naruto, Ichigo), the edgy, angsty, naturally talented rival (Vegeta, Sasuke, Hiei), the smart, supportive and motherly but also easily angered female character (Bulma, Sakura, Nami, Keiko), etc. If you can't really think of any character stereotypes that's perfectly fine, as long as your character is vibrant, fun and would fit in a shounen anime then they'll be welcome. You can even just base your character off of your favorite existing shounen character if you really want, as long as they're not a complete ripoff obviously. Speaking of ripoffs, there will also be a lot of things that I'll be taking pretty much directly from some shounen anime (Hunter X Hunter and Naruto are the ones I'll be taking the most from, but there's a lot of stuff from other shows as well)

I should probably put this in the rules section

Very important question.

Does the United States exist? Or does the roleplay take place in an other world?

The RP exists in the real life modern day world, completely the same as it is in reality in every way (except for the fact that channellers also happen to exist, obviously)

This suggestion raises a pertinent question:

If guns are fair game, we'd kinda have to justify having characters being able to react to bullets, otherwise every fight, no matter the power the guns are up against, would look like this:

In order to make guns even remotely balanced, characters would either need bullet-level durability, or bullet-time speed, both of which give the characters abilities beyond what their channeled ability calls for. It would also lead to a power spike that starts taking us in the direction of Dragon Ball Z absurdity. Realistically speaking, even a crude musket trumps just about everything on here 10/10 besides perhaps super-armor if he knows how to turn his skin into metal.

Hmmm, this is a good point. This is actually a thought I've had in the back of my mind for a while now, and I'm not entirely sure how to handle it TBH. I was thinking about just banning the idea of having guns at all, but I know there are a few players who want to use guns, so I don't know

Just to clarify here, Clarabelle's dolls have weapons and explosives with them, right? That means she must know how to forge weapons and make explosives naturally beforehand if she's going to manifest them in battle, since that's how an architect works. So I assume she is to learn about them in the school? I imagine learning to manifest the giant doll is also going to be done at the school. It should be harder to manifest abnormally-sized objects.

@Yuuta@tipssyCalibrator
That's another good point. It's similar to my character's bombs. Anyone not capable of enhancing their defense will just die easily to one explosion, or at least suffer a major wound. Except even the most basic guns have incredible speed that would be hard to dodge by someone who doesn't have enhanced speed.

This is why I'm thinking of eventually expanding my character's architect ability to include making "status buff" potions. But that's already borderline magic as there's no medicine that can harden your skin or make you faster.

@tipssyCalibrator Might I suggest something akin to Ki blasts instead of literal guns? They get their projectile pew-pews, but they don't have the firmly established speed and lethality that bullets do. Because, how fast even is Ki, right? It'd still be fast, do a bunch of ouchie damage, but it's not an insta-win for most fights. Hell, you could even let them have a gun construct for the aesthetic if they want to help them "channel their ki into concentrated blasts" or whatever justification. But, it's ultimately your call.

It absolute fairness, a lot of action anime in general allows for the characters, at least the physical fighters, to be able to counter guns in some fashion.

Most of the time this isn't escalated beyond that even if it does imply other things.

... I hope that came out coherently, I'm all over the place tonight. ^^;

@Hammerman: She doesn't know how to make Grand Maiden yet, no.

As for the weapons, she arms them largely with kitchen knives and other easily obtainable implements. The lances are the only thing she makes herself.

Grand Maiden will just come with a lance when she learns how to make her.

The explosives she can't make herself and wants to actually obtain to load her dolls with them.

I can agree with making channeler's basic physical abilities to be somewhat superhuman, even though they're not augmenters. Let's just say all channelers can employ augmenter, wavecaster, and architect abilities, only if it isn't what they're talented at, their skill is the respective branch would be minimum. So we have a baseline minimum augmenter, which is superhuman. Basic wavecaster is just shooting vanilla ki blasts, and basic architect will be manifesting something small and simple, like pebbles.

The only thing I would say about your character is that they seem a bit similar to my character Akiko in a couple ways, and I'd prefer to not have too much overlap with the characters. There are definitely more differences than similarities though, so I'll allow it. Accepted

I think the thing to do right now will just be to PM Shadow and talk to him about the guns, and just put a hold on any other character with guns for now

So, her current knowledge is just making the dolls themselves while she had to get their equipment. Yeah, sounds reasonable.

If she wants to, she can learn how to make explosives from Freyja if she wants to. Dunno who the blacksmith would be though.

Oh! My apologies! I have read much into the characters too much yet, I was mostly getting the general gist based off of personality and powers, hadn't read really the back stories. I could go back and tweak mine up a bit if you'd like.
