At its base form, it is simply a release on the subconscious limits that the body places on itself, but with the growth of the user it becomes possible to instantaneously draw out power beyond the standard limits. Like a sort of metaphysical circulatory system, the body itself is turned into a circuit that runs this harmonized magical energy through it at increasing speeds, amplifying physical capabilities in line with the number of pulses that can be achieved at any given time. A very common form of magic that is essentially standard-issue among human soldiers, and the most common means through which humans become able to match monsters in combat. Rahak

Name: Rahak

Gender: Male

Appearance:
A green-skinned, four foot tall, ugly piece of work. Despite this, he's surprisingly somewhat handsome: strong cheekbones, and a jawline that could cut diamonds; a wide, sharp-toothed grin; and a powerful, upright posture.

Personality:
Bold and overwhelmingly confident, Rahak never hesitates to take action. Although he has a "leave-it-to-me" attitude when it comes to working, he's just as quick to rely on others if he doesn't understand something. Rahak is not much of a thinker, often just deciding things based on his intuition or feelings. He has a chivalrous mindset, refusing to sneak or attack the defenseless.

Past Life History:
Derek Donman was a local governor who sought to reform his hometown. Extremely active during his term, he pushed to improve the living conditions and education system. He became a local legend after personally re-educating several of the gangs in the town, a few of the members actually becoming model citizens afterwards. Hospitalized after running into a building to rescue its occupants from a roaring blaze, Derek's life was unfortunately cut short.

Gift:
Despite not being the smoothest of talkers, Rahak is incredibly charismatic, his appearance alone instilling confidence in others. Of course, he's still quite ugly to other races, but he can be somewhat charming.

He laughs with a "Gyah ha ha!".

Rekzild

Name: Rekzild

Gender: Male

Appearance: He is a goblin, with all the ’gorgeous’ physical qualities that such a creature would have. In other words a four foot tall, horrendous looking and sickly green critter.

Personality: Rekzild is not a social butterfly, or perhaps moth given the appearance of his race, he would rather find himself in the company of the books he has collected than with other Goblins. The chitter-chatter of mundane conversation bores him, though there are a couple Goblins he doesn’t mind dropping by. As mentioned he is a collector of books, and while he can currently only read those written in the Goblin tongue he does have some written by humans that he hopes to read one day. He has a rudimentary moral compass, but there are few things he won’t resort to if needed to obtain a new book. In addition he attends the major gatherings of the village for the sole purpose of writing down the oral stories told, helping him grow his collection. While protective of his books he does let the other Goblins read them, so long as they stay within his line of sight.

(Of course most of this will only apply once he has started his collection. He naturally won’t have one at the start since he will be a newborn.)

Past Life History: Ryan Kurhajetz was an average everyday librarian. There really wasn’t anything special about him. He had a wife he loved dearly, two kids that he adored and a nice little house. He was the perfect picture of a run of the mill guy. The one thing that made him “stick” out was his memory, which was excellent. It helped greatly with his job, he could return every book to its proper place without issue. He lived until the ripe old age of 67 before passing away in his sleep just a week after his wife.

Gift: Enhanced Memory- At the start Rekzild simply has an excellent memory, rarely forgetting a face or voice etc etc. One advantage of this will be allowing him to recall the oral stories if he can’t write them down fast enough. The first step of development after the initial stage will lead to an eidetic memory.

Name: Kluuto

Gender: Female

Appearance: Has a more pointed pair of ears than your ordinary goblins. Sharper, narrower eyes as well. Also looks grumpy and haughty most of the time.

Personality: Just like how she looked when she was a human, and how she looks now as a goblin, she has a haughty and stand-offish attitude to her. She had a sharp gaze and she rarely smiled in front of others. Only when she was doing her own thing alone when you could usually find her smirking to herself. She also had a strong sense of justice. She would refuse to bend her own moral code to achieve her goals. She also hated losing.

Past Life History: She used to be a high school student before all of this happened, and she was pretty much the epitome of an honor student. She even became the student council president as a result. She was pretty indeed, but she was also infamous for being quite nagging to the other students, particularly those she deemed lazy and/or irresponsible. She also had a war of sorts with the anime club in their school who wanted to put in all sorts of manga and light novels into the school library. As a literary lover herself, she couldn't stand that such low quality works in the library, especially since she used to be the librarian before becoming the student council president. Thanks to that however, she was quite familiar with all the reincarnation light novels that was getting popular at the time. Quite an irony that she ended up becoming a main character of one.

Gift: The ability of language comprehension. Thanks to her fondness and capability of reading difficult books when she was still human, she now had an affinity for learning languages. For now, she has some understanding of the human language.

Other: She particularly hated those reincarnation story protagonists who would receive a powerful ability right off the bat and then proceed to lord it over to the rest of the world, especially when they acted immorally with it.

Name: Iris

Gender: Female

Appearance: Her mouth contains considerably more molars than would be expected for a goblin and she had bucked front teeth that look like they would be more at home on a squirrel. Her eyes and hair are both hazel in coloration. She has a tendency to carry around plants of in a rainbow of colors to sate her habit. Other than that, she is your average ugly wee green level 1 encounter.

Personality: A rather adventurous individual, her eagerness to explore and find more ingredients for her craft lead to a degree of recklessness and wanderlust that are both rather unsafe in this kind of world. She is also rather easily distracted in that department, wandering of from work to look at some new flower, which she will promptly try to eat and then perhaps harvest more off. These desires are somewhat driven by altruism though, as she wants to use her Gift to help others whenever possible in order to show it’s, and as a result her, worth to them because she is not exactly a skilled in the more standard goblin occupations.

She is rather cheerful when she gets to utilize her gift and gets frustrated when not, which leads to her almost constantly chewing on some plant or other. She prefers to be working with plants, be this making potions or lacing arrows with night shade, or doing thing using the fruits of her labors. If there is fighting to be done she initially favors ambush tactics, sitting motionless in foliage waiting for the perfect time to strike with a poisoned dagger or arrow.

Past Life History: She was a botanist who worked primarily in finding any uses for newly discovered and existing plants as well as being tangentially involved in various genetic modification experiments. She had the somewhat odd tendency to eat small amounts of what she was working with and had learned to identify them by taste, a somewhat eccentric but now useful skill.

Gift: plant appraisal. By consuming plant matter she can intuit what the plant might useful for by having a vague understanding of it's properties based on the taste.

Well, more like three and half, and slightly paler than other goblins. Can't argue with the last one, though.
Personality
Kreshakin loves his Gift. Adores it. If he can afford to, he'll spend all of his time dozens of feet above his fellows. He also has an intense enjoyment of competition. The two traits combined lead him to challenge himself to the best of his abilities, aiming to exceed his allies and beat whatever nature can throw at him. The desire to outdo absolutely everything can be obnoxious to put up with, but for the most part it's just a lot of fun.
As you might be expecting by now, Kreshakin is an all-play, no-work kind of goblin. When not doing whatever he wants to be doing, he is lazy and not worth much in whatever goal is being worked towards. Basically, he does a complete turnaround. He dislikes responsibility, and it's very difficult to get him to do something, if he's decided he doesn't want to do it.
Past life history
Kevin Ralston was a twenty-something extreme sportsman when the world ended. His family had been incredibly rich, but unlike them he was never content with sitting around, sipping expensive wines all day. Taking advantage of the immense amount of money he had access to, he spent his time travelling the world, doing the craziest things he could image (mostly extreme sports, that kind of thing) and posting YouTube videos of them. That was the other thing he really loved: being able to communicate with a community of like-minded people. Of course, there were always jerks, and morons, but for the most part it was a lot of fun. It barely matters though, that's all over now.
Gift
An amazing climber, Kreshakin's skill lies in climbing the unclimable, and climbing the climable in record time. Of course, he takes this too far, but that's just who he is.

Strenk the Goblin

Appearance:
You're a green-skinned, four foot tall, ugly piece of work. Other then that, his only real distinguishing feature are his eyes. Rather than the normal goblin color, his iris’ are a bright, blood-like red.

Personality:
The best way to describe Strenk is sociable. Admittedly he may come off as awkward or odd, but it’s the effort that really counts, right? He just wants to meet and interact with as many people as possible and make his voice heard. Additionally, Strenk isn’t big on arguments turning physical. If he can, he’d much rather talk things out and make friends. Of course while he realizes that he can't talk his way out of everything and will stand his ground if necessary, he won't be happy about it.

Past Life History:
Pre-death, Steven Ikerson, was a audio engineer for a fairly large film production company. He did just about everything audio related, from recording to editing, though his real specialty was Foley work. He had an entire studio built just for sound effect creation, and with it could create just about any sound imaginable. While it didn’t lead to him building a fortune, he loved what he did and that was enough for him. By the time of his death, his name was in the credits of a vast number of films, shows, and various other types of media.

Gift:
Mimicry
The ability to hear and then mimic sounds that are heard, be it spoken word, animal sounds, or just the sound of rocks banging together. Being that it’s so weak at this time, this ability is limited to the small range that a newborn goblin has and is far from precise.

Strenk really enjoys sweet things, such as candies. Not just eating them, but savoring them.

Redd

Name: Redd

Gender: Male

Appearance: A red-skinned, four foot tall, ugly piece of work.

Personality: Redd is a hedonist. He has no grand ambition in life other than to appease the constant chase of new pleasures for him to enjoy. In particular, he considers himself a connoisseur of blood. He is not above partaking any particular blood if he needs to make use of his gift, however he is on a search for the most delicious blood, sometimes taking to mixing different type of blood and adding extra ingredients. He is willing to share his creations, and isn't shy about his less than normal palate.

Past Life History: Redd previous life was that of a humble, and slightly less crazy than his current form, butcher. He died at the age of 34, due to blood lose caused by a wound created by one of the machine he used to help him butcher animals.

Gift: When Redd touches blood, or has ingested the blood of a creature within 24, he is able to know the species of the source of the blood. Redd is immune to blood-born pathogens and poisons.

Hot Gobbo 4.0

Name: Lyminia

Gender: Female

Appearance: Eh, it could be said that Lyminia has some "highly attractive" features than the average female Goblin, which is very distinct among Goblins and Goblin females. That does not mean she is attractive by the standards of any other creatures, though, so to enough other creatures she is probably still that ugly, four foot, green-skinned piece of work everyone else in the stupid tribe is.

Personality: When looking for a Goblin who works hard at what they put their mind to do and has a solid sense of determination, then Lyiminia is the goblin for you. If you are looking for someone to be the nanny or "mature adult" to help the "screw-ups" within a given group she is a part of, then do not bother trying to get her to do so unless she feels it interferes with her survival (and/or the survival of those others she places value on).
An admirer of hard work and respecter of effort, she is not much of a fan of the "idiot kids who are all play and no work". Lyminia has some interest the earth and rocks below her feet, though this just happens to be an interest she has in this incarnation. She can be reliable and a good ally, but if you go off and do a lot of stupid things that endanger everyone she might just treat you like a "cold bitch" of some sort or let you die. Harsh, but that's how she is on the outside. She has a softer side somewhere inside of her, but is not one to let it out unless around someone she really care for.

Past Life History:
In her past life, Lyminia was born the bog-standard daughter named "Lyra" to a couple of pretty average parents in an entirely mundane world. She watched a lot of dinosaur movies, became a bit of a tomboy, and grew up with the desire to become an archaeologist. But instead of getting her dream job, she got a Geology Major, picked up a hobby collecting all sorts of rocks and rare earths, and worked as an intern for a company. This eventually scaled up to her being able to do work in the field for the next several decades, which led to her gathering samples around volcanoes, and most notably dealing with many studies related to lava. This itself eventually led to her sad death after one day falling down a hill into a lava flow in Hawaii after a co-worker surprised her on purpose as part of a prank, where she was pretty much cooked alive and died very quickly. Tragic.

Gift:
Master of Molten Magma- A Gift that, depending on how she evolves and eventually uses this, would eventually allow her to manipulate magma with her will alone as well as create it from other earthen substances. Has a side effect of granting her a rather potent resistance to heat and fire, as well as naturally granting her Earth and Fire affinities by possessing this.

Obviously, though, this power is at a basic low Goblin level at the beginning. As such, it is not even at this level of allowing her to do all of these things yet. At the beginning as a Goblin, she merely gains a "Moderate Fire Affinity" as well as a "Minor Resistance to Heat and Flames" as well.

Other: She has a personal passing fancy for precious jewels, so if she gets one somehow she will probably keep it unless she is in desperate need for cash. I wonder if this would factor in if she became a dragon of some kind down the line though. *shrugs* Who knows?

Eek the Goblin

Appearance: A green-skinned, four-foot tall, ugly piece of work with dark blue eyes. That’s about it.

Personality:
Eek, as the sound of her name would imply, is naturally scared of just about anything that seems intimidating and sudden. Paranoid and cautious, this goblin likes works slowly as to startle herself or anyone around her. That being said, Eek prefers a comfortable and quiet environment free of hazards or anything that would otherwise scare her. On a more positive note, when she is bright and is a quick learner, able to grasp concepts fairly quickly despite her cautious and paranoid nature. Furthermore, she likes to create things with her hands, loving to craft and other things along those lines. She also, when nervous, plays with her fingers by intertwining them, cracking them, or other things.

Past Life History:
Elizabeth Woods, a tool and die maker, was as equally paranoid and cautious as the newborn version of her is, of course Eek only knows of the crafting part. Elizabeth died when she got into a car accident on her way from her job. It was a collision with a semi-truck that sped on a red light and she happened to be in the way, that's about it.

Gift:
Eek has a natural affinity for crafting things, working with her hands seems to be one of the best things she can do albeit currently her creations would be crude and not very durable. However, she is bound to get better in time.

Name:Deks

Gender: Male

Appearance: He's a green-skinned, four foot tall, ugly piece of work. His limbs are a bit thinner than the usual goblin's, though.

Personality: Deks thinks of the other goblins as simple things, the only things about them that are noteworthy are the actions they take. Otherwise, he simply disregards anything and everything about his peers. Sure, he may act civil, if he feels like it, but he truly doesn't care about his fellow goblins. He has made an entertaining "what-if game" for himself, where he randomly chooses a goblin and thinks about how they'd react to different things. Sometimes it is "what if that goblin fought someone," or maybe it is "what if that goblin got lost in the forest."

He usually spends his time with the "what-if game," but when he is not doing that, he is making simple contraptions that serve no purpose. Maybe he will put a board on a log to make a see-saw, or make a pulley with a tree branch and a rope. Doing so little else, though, has made him "socially-inept.

Past Life History: Dexter was a scientist, and a rather well known one at that. Sure, he was no Albert Einstein or Thomas Edison, but he had a noteworthy resume filled with his designs. His childhood was spent mostly in the low-class part of a somewhat large town, where he would try to get simple pieces of machinery from whatever may be laying around. When he went to college, he took classes on mechanics, data sciences, robotics, and other such subjects. His best invention, once he graduated college and got hired, was a machine called the IDTM, or the Instantaneous Data Transfer Machine. The machine transported information faster than anything else, which helped simplify the process of obtaining information from space. With the money made from NASA, who had bought his invention, he was able to live out the rest of his life comfortably doing what he loved.

Gift: As mentioned in the personality category, Deks has an inclination to invent things. He can only invent things using concepts he understands and has seen. When he sees new technology, so long as it is not too advanced for him, he can understand and apply the concepts the machine utilizes. Of course, this skill is extremely limited at the beginning, due to limited exposure to technology.

Appearance: Four foot tall, ugly piece of work...Actually, she's a bit smaller than most other goblins. Standing just around 3'5. Definitely not the tallest. Eyes are a bright blue color however though, and seem oddly luminous. She has no other distinguishing features.

Personality:
To say Silana's a bit of a...mystery would be an understatement. As far as her outward personality goes, she could be described as a very calm, level headed individual. She doesn't speak much, and often views others with a deadpan neutral expression. She'd rather spend more time reading books and time doing other things rather than conversing with others. That's not saying she's unfriendly, if spoken too, she'll respond - though usually in the most taciturn manner possible, and would help her fellow goblins if she can. She does tend to like being by herself though and constant interruptions tend to grate on her nerves.

She tends to work tirelessly towards her goals and ambitions, whatever they may be. While she is friendly, and overall amicable to those she allies herself with...if something so happens to be in her path on her way to one of said goals may the gods have mercy because she'll not give you any. Ruthless, merciless, and absolutely would not mind doing horrific things to those that are her enemies. A Sadist through and through - she takes great enjoyment in seeing her foes squirm. She likes being in control, and absolutely loathes being told what to do most of the time.

Past Life History:
Silana's past is a bit of...well, an odd one. Born into a heavily religious family, she was brought up heavily on such things. Religion, schooling, etc. Things such as those - and she was a very religious person growing up. At least, she tried to be despite her natural skepticism. She attended heavily religious schools, and until halfway through college she kept those values. Slowly though, she started to lose such moral principals. Perhaps simply because she grew tired of it, or her more scientific and academic pursuits caused her to question her own religious principals.

Whatever the case, she started looking for something else and quickly took a shine to some more...alternative religious practices. Wicca - even satanism, and she even explored the small religious resurgence of the Hellenistic and Norse deities. She could never really decide on one exact religion to stick with, but regardless she developed a love for some more occult practices.

She died quietly one day, no one is quite sure why but there is evidence she was attempting to try some magic ritual either believing it would work or just for giggles.

Simply put, Silana has a predisposition towards magics that simply cause things to decay and rot. Of course, she currently has no skill with any of this whatsoever, and she will have to learn of it first. She can use other magic if she learns it, but any spells dealing with the above would be found easier to cast, as well as more potent, even if only slightly.
