I feel like an idiot for not seeing it as a trip line. Considering these are flying predators I'd assumed it was a snare to snap the Roc's neck once it tries to swiftly bank up from a failed divebomb on the Bait. I guess considering the size of a Roc a trip line makes some sense and it would only take a solid impact to it's wings to throw off a bird's flight.

Oh well. The Bait in Leblanc cares not if the rope works or not. She's gonna make some scrimshaw out of their severed talons either way.

Yes, I know they aren't whale's teeth and don't count. Fight me >:3

Yeah that'd work even less haha!

EDIT: Decided to post anyway. Felt the character would have done this immediately despite any arguments otherwise. Sorry if I was too hasty.

Couple questions: from where the assumed position that Leblanc would be, is there a good spot to get an angle on a swooping bird past the rope to cover Leblanc?

Do you want Regina to cap the Roc Esther fought or miss? Probably gonna have her get injured regardless of the result.

Well, the church is the best place for her to get a shot at any target, regardless of Leblanc's position. Other than that, she can always get into one of the other buildings around the square, but this will likely mean that she'll have a limited field of vision, thus less reaction when everything goes off.

As for the second question, that's mostly to your discretion. I really would like to avoid making OOC suggestions of the players' actions if possible. Especially when we can adapt to both circumstances. If it's an important matter, we may do it, otherwise, whatever happens, happens, for good or ill. That's the best part of RPing, after all.

Sheesh, Leblanc isn't going to be much of s predator if all her prey are fantasizing about walking into her lair of their own volition. It's just not sporting!

Akright. I'm used to less freedom as I had other gms determine that kind of thing for me. Thanks for clarifying. I'll post once at least a couple others have to give them a chance to do things.

Guess Regina is just gonna have to make this plan suck less!

@Hammerman

Speaking of making the plan suck less, is Esther able to use the power of the wind to speed up the Roc and funnel it, forcing it to hit the rope or even making the rope plan not neccessary?

I believe Esther's earliest post showed the rocks are on par if not superior to her in terms of wind control, so it would at the very least spook them from the trap if they didn't dispel or turn it to their advantage.

It is one of those things that have to be timed right honestly. It'd have to be done when the Roc is already on its speedy run. If done correctly, even if the Roc attempts to slow its momentum down it'd still hit the rope if not the ground. And slowing down would present itself an easier target.

Though there is also the issue of Leblanc potentially getting smashed but she'll be fine!

I know this will come off as negative, but criticism is the fuel for change. And I am not saying to change this fight, but to keep in mind for future encounters:

This fight is really poorly designed. Our team does not have the tools to handle large, flying creatures. This could be a good thing. If the rocs were to show a weakness in the team, except the rocs pose very little threat. And not in the sense that they are the main characters and this is a minor encounter, but in universe, rocs aren't that scary. Sure, for a regular villager, a giant eagle is pretty scary, but for military-trained students, who can easily duck and dodge their attacks, there isn't much that they can really do.

Honestly, Regina plan probably would be better. Why do we have to kill them? They attacked us, but as far as I am concerned, they are just territorial beasts and that their presence and their attacking are particularly normal and natural.

I don't think we ever said to kill the Rocs. In one of my posts I mentioned that they were being spoked by something. It's just that it was better to stick to one plan as opposed to wasting more time arguing another among the cadets.

I get your point, thanks for the input.

Nevertheless, there are some misconceptions Oh that argument. I'm at college now, so I cannot explain in details. I'll do it once I'm back home or tomorrow, at most.

I do not think the fight itself was poorly designed bit it did hit the cadets' weakness hard. Main reason why I made Regina the way she is is because there was a lack of ranged capability so that could have made up for that since she is literally the ranged glass cannon.

I will say though that the princess's plan from a regular military standpoint wouldn't ever have been a Plan A due to its chances of failing outright to be extremely high without supplement of some kind and even has a greater risk if injury than Regina's. However, this is also based on anime so all of that can be overlooked and even explained in some form.

I will say though that in any military RP I get the most enjoyment from when plans go wrong and the characters figure out how to deal with it. But that's just personal taste. That's my two cents.
