Kaneko Yuri

Yuri day was going so slowly, it was almost physically painful - it felt like she was itching all over. She'd hoped that cutting classes and hitting the arcades would alleviate some of the boredom, but in the end it was pointless; as she thought, the only way to scratch this itch was a fight. She couldn't think of anything else that would do it. Sadly, it was the middle of the day, and delinquents, the fun ones at least, didn't come out until evening hit. She could always start a ruckus in a local slum, but that felt like too much trouble, even for her - the people there had long memories, and though they were usually sportsmanlike about getting the crap beaten out of them, if it was uncalled for, they would prove to be vindictive and petty - she knew this for a fact.

No delinquents, no slum dwellers, no bikers gangs out at the moment. So, all that was left were Negari.

The thought sent an excited shiver down her spine. It had scarcely been three months since her inception as a magical girl, but more and more she was beginning to enjoy her 'duty' - being able to fight Negari was probably the best thing to ever happen to her. The entire sensation was just too different from fighting person to be any comparison. The demons always took different forms, always had something up their sleeve.

More importantly, there was absolutely no hesitation. The black spawn would, and could, take every chance to kill her. There was no reservations, no moral compunctions about ending her with the next blow - they wanted her dead, and she could respond in kind.

Every move could be her last. A single mistake could cost her life. And all the while, if she survived, she would become stronger and stronger.

She didn't think she'd ever get enough of it!

If there was one downside to this whole magical girl deal, however, it was . . .

"P-please stick to the patrol route I outlined for you Yuri!"

A distraught looking fairy floated next to her, wafting around what looked like a map of the city. Yuri sighed, and continued walking, phone in hand. It wasn't as though she didn't understand, she really did. She had a duty to keep the city safe from Negari, and she had nothing against Frudie wanting her to be a model magical girl - the fairy had a right, she was the one responsible for her becoming one in the first place - but something as mundane and regimental as patrolling was just not her thing.

More to the point, the word patrolling implied another thing, that wherever she went was a part of her territory. A bit earlier, she had gotten into a rather heated . . . debate with a neighboring magical girl. She was unaware that, apparently, some magical girls declared certain areas as their territory for some reason or the other. It certainly made combating Negari over a large area efficient when each girl knew who or if someone could respond, but for someone like her who was unaware of such things and frankly just didn't care, well, it was a constant cause of conflict.

In any case, her fairy partner insisted on following a planned-out route to patrol, as well as a bunch of other troublesome activities all so that she could be a 'model magical girl'.

"Aah, come on Frudie-chibi, it's my day off, cut me some slack!" she whined halfheartedly. They've done this song and dance a dozen times before.

Frudie replied with the expected answer. "That's what you said yesterday. And the day before that. Also, you're supposed to be at school right now!"

"Ah yeah, forgot 'bout that!"
The fairy gave a long-suffering sigh. Yuri had no intention to take this seriously, that much was clear. Still, it wouldn't hurt her to just go on a patrol every once in awhile! Just to make it apparent that she was doing her duty as a magical girl and not skiving off doing who knows what with her abilities!

Except that was exactly what she was doing. Frudie sighed as her partner stopped walking to take a seat.

"Good signal here."

The two of them were no on top of a signal tower. Why they were here, Frudie had no idea - she couldn't even recall how they got here!

"Anyway, no need for a patrol right now. Looks like we got a Negari attack near Yamashita," she said, staring at her phone. Social media was a one hell of a blessing for things like this. A grin slowly made it's way across her face.

Just the thing she needed to scratch that itch . . .

. . . is what she thought at the time. By the time they got there, it looked like a bunch of magical girls had already responded. Their opponent was one huge Negari. Powerful, but dimwitted and with some cooperation, not really much of a threat. The thing was practically done for. Observing them from atop a nearby building, she had a good vantage point to view the battle.

Ugh, she wished she got here earlier. Much as she wanted to dive in and join the fun, there wasn't actually much left to do.

Well, she did watch the other Magical Girls at work. Observing her fellows in battle was always interesting for her. She's gotten into a few scuffles with them in the short span of time she's been one, but never a serious fight - Frudie insisted more than anything else that she not get into a fight with another Magical Girl. The times it looked like it that line might actually be crossed, the poor fairy would break down into tears and cling to her like no tomorrow, and that kind of display killed off any chance of her actually enjoying the fight.

Back to the battle with the Negari, the girls were chipping away at it, one chunk at a time. As expected, lack of any form of strategic planning offset the things huge size. Eventually, it was overwhelmed through the girls teamwork. She gave them a respectful smile from a distance. It was a good fight, even if it didn't really get her blood-boiling; it was pretty cool to watch them give it their all. Judging from how worn out they were, they had really pushed themselves. The purple haired girl looked just about ready to keel over too.

She was just about to get up and leave when her instincts screamed at her. Her head whipped back, and suddenly dozens of Negari flooded the streets. Her eyes narrowed as she watched them spread everywhere, their destructive instincts calling out to them as they attacked nearby civilians.

She grinned. It looked like she would get to have her fun after all.

"Frudie-chibi," she motioned, and the fairy nodded in understanding as she prepared to enter her 'Magical Girl Mode'. As power flooded through her, her clothes dissolved only to be replaced in an instant with her signature kimono and geta. Her hair shone brilliant gold, and like a comet crashing from the heavens, Magical Girl Golden Flower descended!

Her first landing ended up killing two Negari on the spot. She found that relative to their size, they were fairly weak, pretty much the run-of-the mill Negari. The only problem was how many of them there were.

"Well, whatever," she thought offhandedly. She'd do what she could. Things like crowd control were out of her hands.

Through the chaos of the street, she was acutely aware that the magical girls from earlier were being surrounded. She had no idea how well they'd fare to being swarmed, but she was aware that they were fresh from a fight. What's more, she could see one of them crying. With a 'tch', she shot towards them.

Golden Flower bulldozed her way through several Negari who had yet to react to her presence, tossing them or smashing their heads in with incredible strength, until she landed in front of Aigis. Inhaling deeply, she planted a foot in front of one Negari, and kicked with enough force to sending it flying with several others.

She gripped the purple-haired Magical Girl by the collar, lifting her towards her face.

"What the hell do you think you're doing? This is no time for tears, understand!?" she yelled, glaring angrily at the other girl.

Kuroe stepped through the sky, letting her eyes wander the city below. It was strange that she hadn't come across anyone else patrolling, as if they were all elsewhere. Then something sent a cold shiver up her spine.

"Hey, Listen!"

She flinched and glared at Fid with a frown. The small fairy increased her distance from her partner and held up her hands. Kuroe shook her head.

"Yeah, I got it. And you've been playing that game way too much."

Fid nodded and pointed off to their right.

"Over there, looks like a fight!"

"Yeah, We might as well head over there."

She picked up the pace before throwing herself into a leap and drawing her Marker. Things below looked to be getting tense.

All at once the clouds gathered and piled up before spilling over. As if a limit had been reached a torrent of rain poured forth. All at once it seemed the earth had been split open as a peal of thunder announced the arrival of a bolt of lightening that sounded as it it might split the earth in two.

Clouds gathered above the negari with a brief column of rain. With a crash of overwhelming light and sound a pair of them already stunned by Golden Flower were obliterated by a bolt of lightning that turned them into pieces that steamed in the after math of the rain. Kuroe touched down a second later, jogging a few steps and breathing a little heavily in the aftermath of the spell.

Out of the frying pan... Midori looked on in horror as the Negari crawled out of its own corpse, and even worse, brought friends along. There must have been twenty of them, at least. Sure, they didn't look dangerous individually, but if the bees sting the bear enough...

She needed a plan of action, and the choice was obvious. If she faced the big Negari again with her mana drained, she'd be a pulp in seconds, so she turned on the horde of minions. She spun her staff at one of the drill-like creatures, smacking it in the flank, then the back of the head, and finally finished it off with a strike from above that crushed its skull. Then, she saw Aegis in trouble. "Hang on, Aegis! I'm coming for you!"

Hoshi Nakajima

A dozen or two paces ahead, one of the fastest students of East Umitori High School that hadn't been gobbled up by their star-studded track team, ironically, had been standing stock-still.

Yamashita.

You'll need to find a safe spot for those... her wise fairy companion mused, having already recognized the sound of the alert notification.

There was an alert in Yamashita. When her smartphone had buzzed her, it'd taken a fair bit of limber handwork, holdsmanship, and proprioceptive dexterity to manage to get the screen to a visible position while also not dropping anything. Neither was an easy task on its own...

But the latter became twice as rough when she realized that Yamashita meant just a mere hop, skip, and jump from her own home.

Kyotaro!

Physically, she may not have done any dropping, but metaphorically, well... Every task was all but forgotten in the face of this new development, suffice to say. Hoshi was still something of a neophyte, sure, but she was nothing if not zealously devoted both to the cause and her cousin-turned-brother figure. So, when the sanctity of both came under threat...

Her leisurely walk turned into a brisk trot.

Soon a jog.

Sooner a run.

I'm not letting it get anywhere near him!

Sooner still, a full-on dash.

Tendou! she mentally barked. We're heading in!

Masako Imagawa

Masako stopped her patrol immediately upon feeling that pulse. The sensation that indicated her towards Yamashita. "Did you feel that too, Lutin?"

"Indeed. It seems we finally have a destination." Lutin was almost excited, though more out of a desire to at least make the day productive. Wasting no time, Masako charged ahead on Chantilly in search of the source of the beacon. Upon arriving on the scene, Masako took in the sight of the hordes of Negari pouring into the street, along with the larger Negari forming in the midst of it all. With so many foul creatures abound, one could say it was like the gates of hell had opened.

"How horrib-"

"C'est magnifique!" Masako cut her fairy off mid sentence in her excitement. "I had been hoping to find something to slay today, and my patience has been rewarded with a veritable medley of Negari. This is going to be absolutely glorious!" With that, she spurred Chantilly right into the midst of the Negari. Lutin could only shake her head in disbelief. Every few moments, she was reminded of how vainglorious her partner was. Getting stuck right in, Masako's spear immediately found a resting place in the head of a dinosaur like Negari. It did not rest their for long, as she easily pulled it free as she continued her charge and swung it with wild abandon at the other Negari in her path. Those that did not meet their end on the tip of her spear were either knocked aside by the force of her advance or trampled under Chantilly's hooves. A spidery Negari attempted to assault Chantilly's legs, only to find itself unable to grip on due to her speed and was flung clear. Masako continued to plow through the crowd until she emerged at a seeming break in the Negari numbers. It seemed she had found herself among other Magical Girls fighting the hordes. However, any initial pleasure at being among friendly company evaporated as she spied one of them acting in an almost menacing way to another.

"Excusez-moi, but what on earth is going on?" She asked the muscular girl that gripped the other by collar. She had not been here to see the cause of this display, and in her ignorance, it almost looked as though she was the reason this other girl seemed to be brought to tears. Masako could only hope there was a good explanation for what she was doing.

Victory was achieved. The Negari slowly started to return to that black, primordial ooze that all Negari seemed to composed of, dripping into an extremely large puddle. The other girls seemed pretty happy, not to mention she met the FREAKING RIPPER!! Wait until the guys on the forums hear about this! Ogata seemed a little sour, probably because she hated so much mana being used at once. The again, it was just a single Negari, and she still had 80% of her mana left! All in all, she was pretty mana-efficient considering she only restrained the Negari during the fight. Shiina quickly dismissed the thought, however - Why would she need to worry about her mana? She planned to say good bye soon and head home for the night, but before she could utter out the phrase, the puddle seemed to... move.

Before she could react, it quickly began to reform itself, thin and vestigial legs sprouting out of the liquid to drag it's torso out. Immediately, Shiina slammed two of her ribbons onto the gel and spread them as wide as she could, trying to keep the thing from tearing itself out and attacking them. Immediately afterwards, she started to attack the legs with the third ribbon, trying to make them lose their grip and escape slower. It was only after managing to take down two legs that she realized how many Negari had truly appeared - There had to be at least dozens... Luckily, Ripper was able to take care of the smaller Negari with ease, simply slamming into them with her knife to kill them. It wasn't until she noticed that there were others near Ripper that she realized... Holy shit, those are civilians!

Shiina immediately stopped attacking the legs, sending ribbon number three closer to the group. It wasn't until she was halfawy there that she realized it - She was only able to make it halfway... Shiina proceeded to jog her way over to the group, allowing the 1st and 2nd ribbon to stretch to their maximum lengths before she stopped. All the Negari seemded occupied trying to attck Ripper and Aegis, so Shiina sent out her 3rd ribbon, and saw that she was just barely able to reach them. Relief spread through her, only to be sucked away when she saw two of the dinosaur looking Negari bite into Aegis' shoulder. The scream she elicited was worse than anything she ever heard - it was a human scream, not a Negari's. She sent debris flying in different directions, before kicking one of the Negari coming towards her with her foot, sending it flying. The third ribbon raced over to her only to be beaten - A blond woman wearing a red kimono that Shiina wasn't focusing on picked her up by the collar, before yelling something about not crying. What the hell did she expect! Aegis was bleeding super hard!

Shiina gently wrapped the ribbon around the small girl and moving her next to Shiina, then the red-haired school girl, before finally grabbing Aegis as well, who was still being held onto by the red kimono chick. Shiina angrily yelled.

"Don't yell at my friend! And let go of her before she bleeds out!"

Shiina quickly realized she wasn't paying attention to the larger Negari, and slammed her ribbons down once to make sure it was easier to restrain. At least Midori seemed to be trying to help Aegis, Shiina watching as she raced over to help. As a dinosaur Negari raced over to Shiina and the civilians, she briefly took ribbon 2 and smacked the dinosaur, before moving it back to restrain the large Negari. To her horror, one of the legs had managed to start pushing again, and all the Negari's eyes were on her. She had all her ribbons busy, and if a Negari attacked her right now, she could die... Shiina simply resorted to praying, hoping that her third ribbon would be free soon so she could knock out some of the big Negari's legs and protect the civilians and injured Aegis. Remembering her, Aegis called out.

"Aegis-Chan! Are you hurt bad!? Holy crap that's more blood than I thought... J-just stay with me, I'll make sure you don't get hurt anymore!"

Her voice was quivering as she said this. Shiina was actually terrified. There were more Negari here, on this street, than all the other Negari she had fought since becoming a magical girl. Hell, most of them were tougher than any Negari she had faced before as well. All Shiina could do was what she did best - put on a brave face, pretend everything would be alright, and try her hardest to make it work. She moved the young girl behind her, and did her best to move the third ribbon to her as quickly as possible. Shiina was so worried, she didn't even register the pulse of energy that exuded from Rippers direction, the energy of a beacon being established. All she needed was the third ribbon... Then she would wrap them all up and move them on top of a building or somewhere that was safe... Shiina barely saw the white haired woman clad in armor, simply happy to have extra help taking our these Negari.

"Oh, Aihara-san," replied Katsura Hyoukyo, class representative of East Umitori High School's Class 3-G, as she turned to face her underclasswoman with a smile. "I'm currently planning on returning home. Is there something you need of me?"

Her enquiry was a polite one, and she patiently waited for a response from the younger girl. It would be necessary however, to delay her pursuit of the observed foes in Yamashita for the time being if she wanted to ensure that her alibi as a magical girl remained as sealed as the lips of a skilled espionage agent under heavy interrogation. Her lack of presence would hopefully not prove to be too detrimental; she trusted in the skills of most of the local girls, and depending on the number that arrived to the fight, they would be able to handle any threat with little difficulty. Returning home also allowed her to drop off unnecessary items before entering combat, as well as giving her a chance to provide Kanaria's requested food.

Ha, you totally remembered, boss!

It would, quite fortunately for her wallet, not be a regular occurrence, especially as it would only sate her fae companion's desires rather than provide many tangible benefits. Purchasing so many of the 'sausage things', as Kanaria described them as, without appearing to consume them would also appear suspicious.

Oi, it'll be totally fine! I just want to grow big with this stuff!

Only certain parts will grow big.

Oi!

Her attentions returned to Yuu, awaiting an answer.

"Oh, Aihara-san. I'm currently planning on returning home. Is there something you need of me?"

Katsura had answered Yuu with utmost politeness. Yuu's nervousness had been slightly diverted, and she felt at ease now. Unfortunately, she wasn't that much of an empath, and she did not sense Kat's sense of urgency. As a result, she had decided to break the ice with some extended dialogue.

"Uh, oh, yeah, hi Kat! I was just walking home, and I apparently had trouble finding my way back! The weather sure is beautiful. In fact, I just went fishing yesterday! Although I wasn't-"

Just then, Yuu's cellphone began to buzz. She grabbed it anxiously and typed in her password with unrelenting speed. The notification had come from the app she had used to track Negari. The number of the vile monsters had increased significantly. Yuu shuddered upon seeing this, and the plastic bag holding the food she had bought fell from her grasp. It would be easy for her to transform right into a magical girl and fly to the scene, but she was in front of one of her classmates at the moment. In fact, she was not just a classmate of hers, but she was the class representative. Despite fearing her, she also held her in high regard. She wouldn't want to shock her with a secret of hers, not just yet.

Hey! That hurt!

Just stay hidden there! Nobody should see you!

Yuu scrambled to pick up the plastic bag. She began to pant moderately. Had Alex not taken the initiative to hide herself, her cover would have been blown. Yuu stared at the plastic bag in shock for a brief moment, then looked up at Katsura.

"Well, I have somewhere to go. Have a safe trip!"

After forcing a smile, she walked into an alleyway that would hide her from Katsura's eager view.

Then she ran.

She had to think

So much had happened at once. The magical girl from before, the Ripper, had obliterated the Negari around her in seconds... but there were so many... She felt her hand gripping the little girl's hand tightly as her eyes feel open the largest of them, the second form of the crab-like creature that had appeared first. It had an orbular body, covered in orange eyes that appeared to constantly look one way or the other, and it was supported on a set of seven spindly legs. The front of its body seemed to have a large cross-shaped slit in it. And there were so many other magical girls... but so many more Negari. They'd just gotten done with a fight, and... and one of the girls was bleeding. They were largely new magical girls from what Akane could recall, and they were all worn out... and she was useless. How could she help? She could try and get the little girl to safety, but what if more magical girls got hurt trying to keep them safe? What if she couldn't keep the little girl safe? What if... what if...

The slit on the front of the large Negari opened, revealing a huge orange eye... and a dark purple light building at the center of it with a low howling sound that steadily began to rise in volume.

"... R-run away, fast, I'll... I'll..."

She didn't know what she was going to do, but she had to get that little girl out of here, right?

"O-o-onee-san...?" the girl asked, looking up at her. What could she do? What could she-

"Hi there! Do you want me to ignite your heart so you can become a magical girl?! We're a little short on time with all those Negari, so please answer quickly!"

Akane stared. Was... was that fairy... was that fairy talking to her!?

After that, everything was a blur. Kyōka stumbled backward as more Negari came on, only to be stopped by... Who? A girl she didn't recognize had appeared out of nowhere and pulverized her assailants, but just when she thought she was safe, her rescuer grabbed her by the collar and began screaming in her face. Her mind was spinning too fast to fully comprehend what was being said, but before she knew it, Pink-senpai was there too, along with another new arrival. There were so many Magical Girls all of a sudden... what was going on? She vaguely remembered that the white-haired girl had done something just before she was knocked to the ground... Had she been calling for help? Then... in that case... were they safe?

"Your assistance is much appreciated, Miss Pink!" Her fairy's voice rang in her ears as Ariel fluttered down in front of her. "Don't worry about us. I'm healing Aegis' wound as we speak. It's bloody, but it's not very deep. Aegis, don't worry, alright? We'll leave this one to the professionals. Just take the bystanders and get as far away from here as you can!"

Suddenly, the pain she'd felt began to fade, and feeling returned to her arm. She looked down to see the bloody gash left in her shoulder closing up. Everything was alright. She wasn't going to die. She just... just had to get away from here...

"A-ah... right! She nodded, hastily scrambling backward - although as she did so, she shot a glance back at those who were still fighting. They... they could handle this, right? If only... If only she'd had a little more energy left, then she might have been able to do something... But the memory of her earlier pain was quick to snap her out of these delusions of heroism. No, right now, she definitely would only just be in the way. Ariel was right... She needed to get everyone out of here while all the new arrivals had the Negari occupied.

Um, excuse me! Please come with me! I'll take you to where it's safer!"

The Ripper

With the girl now in--relatively--safe hands once she realised what was going on and joined the fight, Noriko was freed up to stop focusing on defensive action and fully display why she had been given such an alarming epithet. Lacking a predefined goal, the knife-wielding girl simply moved with the flow of Negari, slicing at the oh-so obvious weak points and leaving a trail of sliced up foes.

This was her strength, the bonus for lacking any of the fancy abilities that so many others demonstrated. The only fatigue or limit on her fighting capabilities were physical exhaustion and that was a long, long time when put next to anyone who could burn through all their reserves in a single bout of fighting. Perhaps fittingly, she ended up close enough to Kyouka to get an idea of what one of the newly arrived magical girls was doing.

She hated people like that, who wouldn't work with others properly.

"Don't tell me what to do Ripper," she growled, even as she ignored the other girls. Off to the side, she could see the crying girl up and healed, trying to get civilians out of the crossfire.

Che. If that girl had the time to cry, then she could have spent that time doing something else! All these girls coming to Aegis defense pissed her off. She was a magical girl like they were, wasn't she? If she's off the side fucking crying then she's useless! Was everyone going to give her a free pass just because-?

Whatever, she didn't have to explain herself to them.

With a yell, Golden Flower rejoined the fight, fists swinging in a flurry as she sent Negari after Negari into the ground. Hers was the complete antithesis of The Ripper's fighting style; there was no graceful weaving through the Negari, no carefully precise strikes in the perfect places. Instead, she left herself as open as possible, an impossibly tempting target that drew foes towards her - at their peril. Once they came close enough for her fists to reach, the Negari became prey, and she smashed through their defenses like paper. Like a juggernaut she tore through the ones that came close to her, while paying for it with minuscule scratches and bruises that began to cover her body.

These were small fry, however, and she couldn't be stuck dealing with them forever, not when there was an even better prize in front of her.

The large Negari was being restrained well and nice by that magical girl with ribbons. Her she liked, even if she did come to the defense of that wimp. Her ribbons were getting work all over the place, not to mention that Spider had all eyes on her because of that - apparently being stuck in a web was no fun when you aren't the one who made it. From the way her voice wavered it was pretty obvious she was terrified but she stood her ground anyway.

"Right, that's how it's done!" she complemented her, even as she ran past her towards the large Negari, jumping and slamming down on one of it's legs with both feet with a massive drop kick.

"Let me have some fun with this one yeah? You go on deal with the other rabble," she told the ribbon girl, jotting a thumb to the civilians.

From a tactical view point, Golden Flower made sense. With her and other magical girls around, Shiina's talents were put to better use with helping evacuation efforts. Personally, however, she kind of just wanted to solo the damn huge thing.

Okay, the civilian's been taken care of. Still need my mana to recharge... The last word in that thought gave Midori an idea. A deranged, desperate idea, but an idea nonetheless. She thwacked down another minor Negari, looking for what she needed. There we go! In the chaos of the earlier fight, a power line had been knocked down, and it was still sparking like mad. Midori made a dash for it and held it up to her chest, wincing in anticipation of the agony she was about to endure.

The electricity surged through her body, which converted it to raw power. She held the line as long as she could, filling herself with more magic than she ever had before. Finally discarding it, she bellowed, "Electric Explosion!" A massive blast of electricity arced out from her body, incinerating half a dozen small Negari in a single blow.

"Nice thinking, Midori," Megumi called out, evidently impressed with her charge's creativity.

In spite of her situation, Akane started to shake, eyes wide. This had to be a dream, right? A fairy was offering to... to... she was staring at her with expectation like that, and... and... Akane shook her head. This was amazing and... and... it was amazing but she had to do something. There was that high pitched whine from big Negari as its main weapon charged....!

"... A... a magical girl..." for a few moments, Akane starred dully, the shock of her situation and the offer overwhelming. She had begun to think she didn't have the potential, that no-one would ever make that offer to her. But as a magical girl... she wouldn't be so useless. As a magical girl, she could help people and protect her sempai! As a magical girl... she'd live her dream!

"Yes!"

"Alright!" the fairy seemed equally excited, but then frowned and paused for a moment. "Ummm..."

She took a book out of a bag at her side and quickly flipped through it. "Which one was... oh, right!"

Her smile returning, she pointed two fingers squarely at Akane's chest.

"Heart... Blazing!"

A brilliant light ignited in Akane's chest, and she looked down at it with wide eyes. This was really happening, this was... this was... she was really becoming a magical girl! After all those years, since she was little dreaming of this moment...!

Almost immediately, fire washed over her body, which was a rather frightening surprise until she realized that it wasn't actually burning her. Instead, it seemed to be a pleasant heat, a light radiating around her body as the warmth washed through her... and took her clothes with it when it left. This... this was part of being a magical girl, right? Then why did it feel so embarrassing?! But before she could cover herself, a second torrent of fire, this one seemingly more intense, bathed her entire body in heat again. This time, it seemed to contract around her body, forming... this was her magical girl outfit, wasn't it!? Red and gold, some frills, one arm covered in armor...! Gauntlets formed on her hands, armor on her legs... and... why did it feel a little weird on her head and just above her butt?

Fire shot out of her right hand, before twisting and solidifying into a huge, thick sword. And yet it didn't feel like it weighed a thing...!

Her grip tightened, and she looked up.

She... she had to do something!

The scream from the huge Negari built to its highest point, even as the numbers of the smaller Negari dwindled to nothing. Even though it was bound, it could still attack... with a screech, the thick, purple beam erupted forwards...!

And hit a wall. Or rather, a sword.

Akane had done the first thing that had come to mind, and that was get in the way and swing her sword. Her arms were on fire almost instantly as she exerted more strength then she ever had before, but the beam had stopped! She'd stopped it!

"Grrrr.... raaaaaah!"

With a shout of effort, she managed to force the beam upward, sending it tearing into the sky until it vanished entirely from view.

"M... Magical Girl Dragonblade!" Akane cried, raising her sword to the ready. She... she could do this! She deflected the laser, so she can help, right?! "This dragon's flames burn with justice!"

If it had been anything but magical girls, Akane would have thought that sounded cheesy.
