Both posters detail how to find your way to the town that both factions call home. So it appears you have found two very distinct organizations and a new place to go. As to why you go and what faction you end up joining is your story to tell in time.

Introduction

Hello, this is an idea that me and my friend have been working on for awhile. If this takes off like I hope it does then it will be my first time being a GM. Not to worry though, my friend who will be Co-GMing has done this a few times, so I'm sure it will run smoothly. This roleplay should be very fun and I hope you can tell your friends and we will all have a lot of fun! Skill System

Okay so for our skill system we will give new characters 3 points to put into skills of their choice. This is NOT a table top game we just want to have an effective limiting system because some players will take things too far. What you will do is while making your character, you will put points beside the skills.
EXAMPLE: Fire Magic = 1

Physical Skills

Slashing: This affects weapons such as Swords, Axes, and Kamas. Your average knightly weapons will fall here.
(This increases your capabilities with slashing weapons like the ones listed above.)

Piercing: This will deal with weapons such as Spears, Daggers, Rapier. Your typical rogue weapons or people ripper throughers will be here.
(This increases your capabilities with piercing weapons.)

Bludgeoning: This will affect weapons such as Hammers, Maces, and Clubs. You ever wanna smash someone to a bloody powder? Then put skill points here.
(You get it by now, yeah?.)

Two Handed: This will affect your big weapons such as Great Swords, Pole-arms, And War-Hammers.
(This allows you to wield two-handed versions of the weapons listed above.)

Unarmed: You ever want to kill a man with your bare fist? Well now you can!
(This allows you to fight bare-handed as hard as someone with a sword would.)

Archery: You ever wanna kill a man and leave something in his head his family will never forget? Ta-Da!
(This increases your capabilities with ranged weapons such as bows.)

Throwing: You ever wanna throw your knife in between someone's eyes because they are rude??? Do it.
(This increases your capabilities with throwing weapons.)

Shield: You ever wanna get in someone's face and give them a concussion? Say no more!
(This allows you to use a shield as well as increases how well you use them. 1 rank for light shields, 2 for heavy shields, and 3 for tower shields.)

Armor: You wanna not have to dodge everything? Then look here!
(This allows you to move in armor without penalty. 1 rank for light armor such as leather, 2 for medium such as chain, and 3 for heavy such as plate.)

Stealth: Ever want to sleep with some man's wife and live? Put points here!
(This increases your abilities in being silent and staying hidden from view.)

Trapping: You ever wanna set a trap and go ham on some poor man's leg?
(This allows you to create traps to surprise your foes. Better ranks equal more complex traps.)

Beast-Taming: Your dog a bad ass? Yeah he is.
(This allows you to train animal companions for battle.)

Magical Skills

Light Magic: You an eye doctor wanting to make some side money? Blind your friend and foes alike.
(This allows you to use light to blind, heal, and manipulate.)

Shadow Magic: Ever want to sleep with a mans wife and get caught, but play hide and seek?
(This allows you to use shadows to hide and form illusions.)

Fire Magic: Ever want to roast your enemy like I roast marshmallows? #HINT# I burn them and throw flaming marshmallows at peoples roofs.
(This allows you to use fire for obvious reasons.)

Water Magic: Ever want to drown a man a mile away from the lake?
(This allows you to use water in the same way as fire plus some healing.)

Earth Magic: You ever want to literally break a man? No more needed here.
(Just like fire but with more umph.)

Air Magic: Ever want to make a mans dream of flying come true you upstanding citizen you.
(This allows you to use air in the same way as water)

Blood Magic: You ever want to cut yourself to cut everybody else?
(This allows you to use spilled blood, including your own, to form weapons, shields, and any other solid object that you would waste blood for.)

Animal Magic: Is your dog a bad ass? Yeah. Are you also a bad ass?
(This allows you to take on the form of animals, gain their abilities, summon swarms, and use suggestion to try and make animals do your bidding.)

Ice Magic: Ever want to kill a man by saying "chill out"?
(Like water but frozen. It can still heal if you want it too.)

Metal Magic: Ever want to take penetrate to the next level?
(Similar to earth but less moldable although sharper)

Lightning Magic: Snap Crackle POP Fizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Nature Magic: Ever vine whip a man to submission?
(This allows you to control plants in order to whip a man into submission)

As you put ranks into a magical skill, you will gain spells tied to that element. You are allowed to create your own spells and effects written like the example below. Yes, we will have a mana system so that your mage does not go around slinging fireballs at everyone who stares at him funny. You do not create the mana cost, me or my Co-GM will tell you the cost because once again No Fireballs at random strangers you murderer you.

Below is a template that will explain how many spells of each level that you will have based of your ranks, if you put ranks in multiple magical skills than you gain spells from each one.

Aspect-Less

Aspect-less are mages that have no elemental ties. They have no strengths but also no weaknesses. Aspect-less must put all of their ranks into being an Aspect-less since their magic is always growing and any straying off the path will lead to their magic overwhelming them and eventually killing them.

As said in the CS, most fantasy races will be allowed. From things like Elves and Dwarves to Dragonborn (Like DnD not Skyrim) and Tieflings. There aren't many races we would say no to, as long as they are humanoid.

Well I have 2 potnetial races I'd play in mind. Dragon-kin, which are humanoid dragons with the whole wings and tails shtick. Another is essentially a naga, serpentine body, four arms, but much more bestial. I honestly don't know what it would be called aside from leviathan.

When it comes to the Dragon-kin, I'd much prefer if you went with Dragonborn. It's the same concept but without wings. As for the leviathan, I have to say no to that. It's simply to monstrous.

My Hider

Alder looks a bit younger than this but general features are right, his armor is actually just a fair bit of leather armor that has the bright red and gold marks of his homeland. He has many scars from his days of battle but the most prominent is a long scar that goes from his clavicle to just below his ear.
Faction: Fions Light
Personality: Alder is a simple man, he understands strength and loyalty and has no patience for deceit, any attempt at such has been met with an axe. He usually has no problem being kind although he tends to show it through fierce motivation, he wants the best for you whether you like it or not.

Equipment: A set of leather armor adorned in red and gold colored baubles from home, a large great axe carried across the back.
Backstory: In his homeland, Alder was seen as a warrior, strong and fearless, he stood against the threats that stood against them and he stood like a tree. That is of course until the threat was already within, renegade mages, they destroyed everything they could, a quiet strike in the night, women and children, anyone unlucky enough to be caught in the flames. It was all that Alder and the other warriors could do to stop them, but in the end, the damage was done. Many of his kinsmen left to find safety with other clans, but Alder, seeing a poster, chose vengeance above all else and left to find Fion's light and face the mages that dared to attack his people.

Kaze stands at an impressive eight feet tall exactly with rippling muscle that doesn't show how strong he truly is or just how heavy the partial giant is. The 'plates' running from his chin, neck, chest, stomach, and underside of his tail are a deep and dark purple. The rest of his scales are a jet black, so dark that it has blue undertones. His teeth, claws, and horns however are all a pure white. The eyes stand out just like the horns, a glowing crimson with slit pupils.

Faction: Arcane Bastion
Personality: Kaze is more of a reactor than an initiator. Preferring to just observe unless actively provoked or unless he feels something is incredibly wrong. Example would be someone on the verge of getting murdered. When he's not observing he's a very blunt being, getting right to the point and discarding flowery language. He also has a very short fuse and it gets to rather...extreme, levels. Which is why he tries to keep his distance from things, so it doesn't piss him off and then he breaks it.

Equipment:

• Weapons: His body is his weapon honestly. Namely claws, teeth, and the tail trailing behind him.
• Armor: Leather Plating: Thick 'plates' of leather cover key points of his body. Namely chest, belly, and groin. The rest is light and flexible leather pieces. Compliments his natural scale hide.
• Clothing: A simple loincloth is all he wears aside from his armor.

Backstory: Firmly believing the past is the past he has no reason to give out what he has done. Which tends to get anyone he's around to think he has done bad deeds. He just has the mindset that the past made him who he is today. Today is all that matters, followed shortly by tomorrow. But he does let others know why he decided to join the faction he did. It's because the mages are being unjustly accused, all of them lumped together with the bad apples.

If Fion's Light truly wanted peace they wouldn't have started a war with the magi. "Aside from fear this war has no point on their end." Is what he always says. Fear of what they don't understand. Which he was on the receiving end quite often given his bestial appearance. If he doesn't fight for the mages today, who will fight for him and his kind tomorrow?

I'm interested. Although a few questions though. About a topic called the undead. So I have two characters in mind, a mage and a swordman. The swordman is pretty hard to fit in here, since although he is humanoid, he is dead, and brought back to life in a form of a skeleton. So he is pretty mixed between the two factions (I wonder how you see him, but I don't think he will be accepted. I don't have expectation for that). The second character is a mage that manipulates dark magic, or necromancy. That I think is more susceptable here, but I don't see dark magic as a skill, so I wonder if it is also accepted.

The skeleton would definitely be a problem for both parties. As for the Necromancer, we decided to take an elemental approach to magic. All types of magic will fight into one element or another if not multiples. Necromancy would be a part of shadow magic.
