[OOC] Titans Beyond

It always begins with a Robin. After discovering the truth about his lineage and who his older brother really was, Matt Mcginnis became the new Robin and soon set out to create his own Titans team like Robins of the past. However, it was for all of the wrong reasons. When approaching his older brother at his apartment, Matt showed Terry his new suit. Terry insisted his brother stayed out of the superheroics, claiming it took more than good DNA. The last words out of his mouth would seal his brother's fate... "It would take a team of five or six of you to even take me on and stand a chance..." So Matt had a plan now: to find other young wannabe heroes, preferably with metahuman powers or some strange DNA of their own, and to unite against common threats. The latest Robin would go on to recruit five other heroes and their first mission was to prove themselves to the current Batman. Matt had no chance of taking on his more experienced brother, but when the other young heroes joined the fight it was a little more even playing field. Terry still took them all down, it just wasn't as easy as he thought.

After meeting with his team on a few occasions both in and out of school, a dark time came in the form of the villain Inque. Paid by another enemy who knew the secret identity of Batman, she killed Matt McGinnis before his career had even really began. When Terry found his brother lying lifeless on the floor of the makeshift HQ in an old rundown late 19th century arcade he lost it. He lashed out at the young heroes as if it was their fault in some way. None of them were even around when Inque showed up....

Batman would go on to take down Inque as well as her employer, Paxton Powers... aka the son of Blight and current CEO of Wayne/Powers Industries. After Batman took a few days to cool his head, upon Bruce's request, Terry contacted the young heroes who made up his brother's team. To honor him, Terry took it upon himself to train these new Titans.

One month later, while serving a sentence at Iron Heights, Paxton seemingly got into an accident that left him with metahuman powers of his own. His first target... the pet project of Batman: the Titans.

GM Notes - 7/30/17 - No posts in the IC in over a week with nobody saying anything in the OOC for nearly a week as well. This one's dead in the water.

The Batman Beyond concept has always been a favorite of mine since the show debuted back when I was in high school. I loved the black and red suit, the futuristic backdrop, villains like Shriek and Spellbinder, and the Justice League Unlimited of the same future. This RP is intended to be tied to not just the cartoon series but the three comics volumes that were each different in their own unique ways. So you may think you know everything, but for this RP you don't know squat! Our first mission will have us going to war with Paxton Powers after he escapes prison. Did I say 'war'? Yeah... he'll have an army... but I'm not saying how. His new metahuman power will be revealed in-game and then it's no holds barred. From there we'll come into contact with a few rogue Splicers and what seems to be the returned leader of the Chimera Institute: Dr. Abel Cuvier.

My hope for this RP is for each arc to feel like two or three episodes of a cartoon series. Nothing too graphic, but still a dark PG-13 tone LOL. I'm shooting for the IC opener to be finished by Friday or early Saturday depending on my babysitter's schedule. Also, I might as well mention this now... *supposedly, fingers crossed* I'll be getting called back to work [at a recycling plant] after the 4th of July so my schedule may get hectic for a minute while I adjust to working again. Who's ready to start some form of discussion to get this OOC going?

Is everybody okay with the Wonder Twins having powers slightly altered? They're new interpretations, however we thought of them as new potential avatars of the Red [like Animal Man] and the Green [like Swamp Thing]. R2 and I should have our CS's finished soon, I promise!

And what about villains in the Beyond future? Who's your favorites? Who would you like to see reinterpreted?

Don't worry though bud, that was me for a long time. We're here for ya if you ever have questions.
Anywho, honestly, batman beyond had some pretty awesome villains and storylines. But one of my favorites, at least too three, is probably Shriek. One of my favorite episodes after all was "Babel" which featured Shriek. I thought it was great overall.

I think the first order of business should be to figure out what our starting point is. As has already been laid down we joined Matt's proposition of a new Titans hero team, two weeks later he died and we fell under the mentorship of his older brother the second Batman.

That's all set in stone in addition to a few details about our HQ. However what we don't have laid out is the character based stuff. Having known each other for around two and a half months what do we know about each of the other Titans, love/hate/indifference relationships etc. Then the more logistical stuff like where do we live and what do we do as part of our civilian identities.

For instance Gloria has been living in one of the under districts of Neo Gotham that more resembles the old city which the land of skyscrapers was build on top of. She's been bunking in an abandoned gym. Now given the accessibility and efficiency of public transit in Neo Gotham combined with the fact that our HQ is in a 19th century building she could conceivably keep living there, alternatively she could be living in the HQ or be set up with some sort of apartment owned by the Wayne-Powers.

That's just an example. Our CSes focused very heavily on the important events of our past and our activity as heroes. They sort of skip over the day to day functionings of our character's lives, do we have jobs, are we in school. That sort of thing. I think that's more or less what we need to figure out before we begin. Just so we have a solid foundation for the starting point of the RP.

As far as knowledge shared between Gloria and the rest of the team about her past. They believe her name is Catherine Walker and if anyone bothered to inquire in the last two months she would have told them that her parents weren't tolerant of meta humans whatever the cause of their power and that she lost her home when her abilities developed. Her time after that she's a little evasive about but anyone could pretty much gather that she lived fairly rough on the streets of Gotham and did what she had to to keep breathing.

Well I'm good to jump right into the action soon as it begins. Just because details don't exist on the CS doesn't mean I haven't already plotted them in my head. In other words...

@ProProi think it's more about the discussion of what our characters know about each other.
I mean I agree with @Prince of Seraphs in we should get some of these things laid out. Especially since we have some time to do it before the ic post goes up.

Like, Jonathan is definitely in high school. He's most active in hero duty during the night. He doesn't live at the HQ. he lives at Diggle in Blüdhaven, though he does have a family home in Star City that he hasn't visited in about 6-7 years now. He went back often during his short run wth depression. Not like that really just goes away but he copes much better now.

He probably wouldn't have told anybody his identity. He wouldn't have lied he probably would have just said he wasn't ready to give that information yet. He likes tinkering now and probably would have helped in fixing up the HQ if he was allowed.

He'd probably answer any simple questions that don't allude to his identity. His if it was how he got up to the hero games he'd tell some story about looking up to heroes of the past like Green Arrow and Arsenal and deciding to follow in their footsteps.

He would tell them he lives in Blüdhaven but not where to avoid them piecing together who he lives with and who he is. He might ask questions, no interrogation, but like out of general curiosity and genuine care for his now and future teammates. Chalk his mistrust and misinformation up to lessons learned from his dearly departed mother.

And the layout of the HQ and the resources it has would be nice too. I think the only things we know about it so far are that it's underneath (or maybe just inside) a retro arcade, it has a statue of Matt as Robin and Melanie Walker's Ten of Clubs player card is displayed somewhere inside.

We can add a section for relationships into the CS's if you guys want. Where we stand now as teammates. We've only been a team for about a month and a half. 6-7 weeks. Anybody who may have went to Hamilton High might've known Matt or the twins before the dropped out.

I'll get to work on a layout of HQ.

* Bruce Wayne is funding the team but also on the verge of dying. With Paxton Powers in jail the ownership of Wayne/Powers falls on the stockholders and Terry McGinnis' shoulders, as Bruce Wayne gave Terry his remaining shares of the company.

Also would it be possible for you to make CSes for Matt and Terry, essentially for any and all information that diverges from the cartoon's continuity cause a chunk of that seems to be lumped into the Wonder Twins CS.

Two weeks later when Matt McGinnis was killed the boys were back to square one. That was until Batman returned and said he was putting the team back together. He told the twins Matt was his brother, and how he had to do it to honor him.

It's not like the Speed Force is a well researched scientific exploit, and it's too bad there isn't an entire museum dedicated to its chosen conduits. :P Once her whole life became slow motion and it began taking weeks to walk to the grocery store, she had plenty of time to figure that out. What with her powers manifesting as a whole.

I meant the specifics. Her experience crossed with a superficial amount of superhero knowledge and a couple google searches would be enough to figure out she's linked to the Speed Force in some manner. I meant the circumstances of being exposed to the Speed Force after being kidnapped by Thawne during a time displaced battle with the Flash.
