As for how he'd meet your character, I was thinking stow away or something?

Is it innately required we fill a role on the crew of some sort? Not really a fan of hamfisting something like "plays guitar" onto a character for the sake of archetypes.

Just for clarification, do you want a large range of ages or do you not care if there's a bunch of young adults or something?

If it matters, my doctor will probably be 19.

@ZapdosI would prefer a good range of ages myself, like the Strawhats have. I'd feel like I was in a YA novel if I was sailing around with a bunch of fifteen/sixteen year old's. :P

Nineteen is good, though, for your character.

@Blackstripe I honestly was aiming for 17 to 19 years old. Wasn't gonna use a super young kid as a pirate. Wouldn't fit with what is currently in my head.

@alexfangtalonAgain, that age range isn't bad. 17 - 19 is perfectly fine.

Just keep in mind guys, One Piece is kind of unique among Shonen for having most of its characters be adults, rather than little brats running around screaming "BELIEVE IT!" or whatever. :3

I just thought the idea of a pre-teen mad scientist was amusing, really. Speaking of... Admittedly the background's a bit of a mess and probably needs some fixing up but hopefully it gives a good general idea of what I'm aiming for here. ^^;

  • Super-Genius: A prodigy when it comes to science and engineering, Taimi is capable of producing almost unbelievable results even with limited or unconventional materials. She has little problem grasping new scientific concepts and can easily read through complicated manuals, blueprints and documents that many would assume would be far above a girl of her age, and it doesn't take her very long to figure out how to use newly encountered machines and technology.
  • Shipwright: Maintaining and repairing ships are things Taimi would find incredibly easy, especially since she seems to like drawing up wild designs for the ship of her dreams in her spare time. Now if only she had the time, money and materials to make it happen...
  • M-A-R-K: Mechanical Assisted 'Recking Kit! Due to her age and size, Taimi isn't exactly well suited towards going toe-to-toe with enemies (even those without superpowers bestowed by magical fruits), Taimi has modified a reclaimed barrel to not only keep her safe when a fight breaks out but to also help her carry heavy loads and work on larger projects. In essence, it is just a barrel filled with levers and buttons, and sporting a set of bolted-on arms and legs (Taimi keeps meaning to install a canopy, but for now her head just pokes out the top). Whilst she's constantly coming up with ideas on how to improve M-A-R-K, for the time being the only "weapons" it possesses are the arms, which (as one would expect from a mecha, even a rather small one such as this) are exceptionally strong and allow her to not only lug about heavy materials but punch enemies really hard. The speed and maneuverability still require a bit of work, however, as the current M-A-R-K is rather slow and ponderous.
• Background: To Taimi, the likes of Gold Roger, Monkey D. Luffy and Blackbeard are little more than tales she read about in books. She was simply born too late to witness such titans of piracy herself, to a mother who unfortunately passed away early in her life and a father who went a bit... Eccentric afterwards. Driven mad by grief, the formerly esteemed scientist Daedalus Taitale lost himself in his work, his experiments and designs becoming crazier and more extreme with each passing year. Despite his growing insanity, however, he still cared deeply for his daughter, who only saw his peculiarities as something endearing even as he was kindly asked to move his lab to a somewhat more remote island. Unfortunately, this only led to his experiments growing even more absurd, eventually resulting in a freak accident ending his life and leaving Taimi all alone with just her father's books and notes and the occasional travellers from the nearby larger island he'd been exiled from. And like father, like daughter, she went a bit... Eccentric. She'd always shown understanding beyond her age for her father's work, but something about the madness made it so much easier to work with. And in her mind, new, more ambitious and brilliant ideas began to spin themselves into being, ones that if she had the proper funding for would no doubt completely change the world and show everyone who called her father a madman how wrong they were. But of course, there weren't many ways for a pre-teen girl to acquire the necessary funds, and so her mind turned to piracy. After all, pirates were all like that Luffy guy she'd heard about, and he seemed pretty cool, right? And if the legends were true and the One Piece really existed, that would provide more than enough treasure to fund her dream project...

And because I am dumb and forgot the mention it in my last post, this is basically a good example of what M-A-R-K's basic structure is like. Or, y'know, Lagann, but yeah.

Reading your profile and all that she can do, she reminds me of how Dr. Vegapunk was described as a kid during Franky's side story during Marineford, and it doesn't get much cooler than sailing around with Kid Vegapunk!

That being said, everyone else, this will be the ONLY kid on the crew. While it's unique and cool for one person to do it, if everyone did it, it would not only diminish one of the things that makes Taimi interesting, it would also start feeling ridiculous in a bad way.

@Rin Your character reminds me of the one barrel/treasure chest guy who shows up really early in the One Piece story and also Franky (because of the mechanical aspects). She's very interesting, I look forward to seeing her in the roleplay.

@PrewigaSorry, I missed your post. I'll tell you the ones who would be common knowledge.

Basically, the original Big Mom, Beast and Blackbeard pirates have been replaced. There are new Yonko in their place, with the Red Hair pirates being the only one from the older generation to remain.

The new Yonko are: The Barto World Pirates (ruling from their massive, Strawhat themed amusement park in the New World), The Kid Pirates, known for their psychotic rampages and even more unstable Captain, and the new Big Mom pirates under Smoothie.

I'm currently juggling between character concepts. Just wanted to know if a former experiment would be plausible? He'd have animal genes spliced into him, so he'd have animalistic traits. Still deciding on what animal.

Asura, a Mink wouldn't be encountered until Paradise at least, more than likely. I don't imagine one being in the Cardinal Blues, where they would be viewed as a monster like Chopper was (and Drum Island was in Paradise!).
