The scientist have found a way to blend human and animal DNA. The government has agreed to fund this experiment. The question was where to get volunteers. After much discussion it is agreed to offer the option to young criminals as away to avoid jail and turn their lives around. As one of these young criminals you will have to learn to control your animal instincts and learn to change at will. If you survive the training you will became a soldier defending the United States. The teens are kept an apartment complex that was built underground. This was to keep the project hidden until the teens had control of their animals and were trained. It was understood that the teens would do exactly what they were told or they would be destroyed. They would be tested and educated. It was hoped that they could become the soldiers of the future saving others. They would do the missions deemed too dangerous for ordinary soldiers.

To sum it up right quick, Gavin lived a pretty damn typical life. He was born and raised on 13 Skirving Street in Glasgow, Scotland, to a pair of Scottish parents. He speaks with a distinctly Scottish accent. His family moved to a moderately affluent neighborhood in America, and he had a relatively normal adolescence. After graduation from high school, he ended up pretty strapped for cash. After hearing about some sort of medical program that offered a pretty chunky sum of cash, he shrugged and said "Why not?"

And that's how that went. He woke up with bulging, uncomfortable mandibles in his mouth, and clicking, iridescent wings on his back. So that threw a wrench into his college experience.

Only after he staggered away from his hospital bed, muscles atrophied by months of inactivity, did he discover that his parents had died a few days before his augmentation began. As yet, he does not know how. He's now a horrified, traumatized mess, trying to deal with both the unexpected fusion of his DNA and the unexpected death of both his parents.

Name: Rebecca Cornswell (Becca for short)

Rebecca has medium length black hair, tangled from years on the street. Her brown eyes are soft, she's thin, and her clothes are messy.
Age: 15
Bio: Becca has had a tough life. Her mother died at childbirth, and her father was abusive to her. Eventually, at the age of 10, she'd had enough of her home life. She ran away, fleeing from her home and never looked back. Her father didn't even care to look for her.

She's been on the streets of Brooklyn ever since, surviving by hiding and begging food where she could. Even stealing from time to time. Eventually however, she was caught. Instead of being sent away however, she was offered a chance to do a job. It promised food, and a better life. She accepted without question.

Becca had no idea what was in store for her. Painful and inhuman experiments, changing her not on the outside but the inside. She still appears entirely as she did before. However, she still had gained something to serve. The girl that was born to hide, could now blend in at will, changing the colour of her skin and the items on her to match her surroundings.

The ultimate thief.

Name: Noelle
Age: 17
Bio: Growing up in a not so good foster home Noelle learned that she could stay away for a month before people would note her missing. She was fed well but her foster siblings got into fights a lot and she had been hurt more than once from just being there. She started staying away as often as she could and made some friends on the streets. She was part of a gang for a bit, the reason the leader let her off was because she was getting more daring with stealing and didn't want his gang to be too affected. They are still friends but she loves money a bit too much. She eventually got interested in what a scientist was "selling" (mean that as an ad) and was on board. She doesn't fully remember what happened but her personality changed a bit afterwards. She learned that her hearing was too well and at times would have to cover them if things got too loud for her but other than that she could pin point items or people really well if she closed her eyes and focused. She also discovered tiny wings that couldn't help her fly. She started to wear jackets after that to cover the wings which she admired in private.

@KatherinWinter If it's just after he wakes up, I have two questions.

1: How long does this kind of augmentation surgery take?
2: If it's long enough for parents to be informed of an absence in a character stated to be in college, how are nutrients inserted into the body?

@Lemons good questions. The idea was to use people that wouldn't be missed. But I will answer your question.
1. I would imagine that the blending would take 2 or 3 months.
2. Probably the same way doctors get nutrients into coma patients.

Appearance

Luke is lean and lanky, standing tall at 6’3 with wiry muscles. He sports a blond mohawk, sharp features, and his once green eyes, both iris and sclera, are now pitch black due to his recently added animal genetics. The inside of his mouth with the exception of his teeth but including his now forked tongue is also black like the dreaded Black Mamba. He has a pair of retractable fangs that extend from his canine teeth which are capable of injecting a powerful and lethal toxin. Much like the snake, Luke, is quick, agile, and able to strike with deadly precision.

Age: 16

Bio: Luke never knew either of his parents, he can only assume he was both unplanned and unwanted as he was left in the parking lot of a hospital in New Orleans as an infant. What followed was a string of increasingly terrible foster homes and group homes until he had enough of it and decided to take his chances, at the age of twelve, on the streets. He’d been mostly taking care of himself his whole life anyhow, already fairly skilled in the arts of pick pocketing and shoplifting he did alright for himself on the streets. He made himself a few friends, lived in a few punk squats, and stole what he needed. He ended up interested in graffiti and managed to build himself a reputation as an artist, made a bit of money selling drugs before moving up to stealing cars. Luke never cared to stay in any one place for too long so every now and then he would steal a crappy old car and drive until it broke down somewhere new. He ended up in a new city one night where a man offered him an absurd amount of money to be a subject in some medical experiment, which he quickly excepted.
