Sometimes, life is like the second season of Friday Night Lights, you gotta push through and hope there's better stuff ahead.
Hollywoo is where stars are born, a shining beacon of fame and fortune. From the ground, the sky is a lush garden of twinkling lights. However, between every star lies an expanse of empty space. Dark matter. Pure nothingness. For each star that finds its place in Hollywoo’s ranks, there’s a hundred times as much dark matter; the common person, whose name will be lost to history. You hear story after story about an average joe, just like you, making it big and shining bright for all to see. Can that really happen, though? Can dark matter form into a star?
Salty Dog Apartments is a building that is easily overlooked. It’s small and dingy with an atmosphere that makes you think you could get stabbed at any moment. The landlady chain-smokes through her work day and doesn’t care what her tenants do as long as it doesn’t cost her anything.
This is where you live. You wouldn’t have chosen this place, but you couldn’t afford to stay anywhere else. Some time ago, you packed up your entire life and moved to Hollywoo because you wanted to shine just as bright as the stars in the sky. But starting over is hard, and making it in entertainment is even harder. You’re not alone, though. The other residents of the Salty Dog seem to be in the same boat as you. They’re all Hollywoo hopefuls faced with the harsh reality of life behind the curtain. The dirty, seedy apartment building has become a haven for aspiring stars.
As far as anyone is concerned, you’re all nothing. But when enough nothings come together, do they have a chance to become something?

This will be a character-driven RP about the interactions and relationships of all the characters. Basically, a soap opera. There will be limited spaces for Salty Dog residents, but you’re free to create characters who don’t live there. Agents, established celebrities, other Hollywoo hopefuls, drug dealers, the world is your oyster!
It takes place in the universe of the Netflix show BoJack Horseman. The world in that show isn’t incredibly different from the real world, so you don’t need to be a fan of the show to participate. I highly suggest checking out the show if you have Netflix, though. Not for the sake of the RP, just because it’s really good and I love it. If you can’t or don’t want to watch it, you can check out the wiki to find out anything you’re confused or unsure about. Or just ask me. I know more about this show than anyone besides the creators ever should.
The RP takes place after the end of Season Four, so…
THIS IS A SPOILER WARNING.
I call this stuff important, but not all of it is. I’m probably going way more in-depth than I need to SORRY. You can skim if you want.
