It was the early morning, and our young scientist and soon-to-be trainer is sleeping. It is his birthday, and he is sound asleep, slowly starting to wake up from the sunlight signalling the day to come. His homemade vintage alarm clock goes off at 7:00, making a strange extremely loud pulsing beep that is heard throughout the neighborhood. He jolts out of bed, both from anticipation and the startling fear from his very loud alarm clock, as he bangs his head off the ceiling after jumping out of bed. He presses a button on the top gently, which causes the ear piercing sound to shut off, with a soft -click- and a whirring of mechanisms. "Oh bloody 'ell, why did I make my bloody clock so loud! My ears are bleeding! But no matter, for it is the day I have been waiting for all year! Today is the day I get my first Pokemon and begin my journey! For honor!" He says brightly, giving mild profanity in his typical proper English accent after banging his head, brimming with excitement as his birthday is today. He quickly but carefully fixes his bed and tidies his room before bolting downstairs into the kitchen, where a sphere shaped object lies in the center of the table, with his father sitting at the one side with a mug of tea and a few English muffins. "Well, good morning Birthday Boy! Glad to see you up so early, that alarm clock of yours scared the Christ out of me." He says, giving a bit of a chuckle. "Go get something to eat and we can proceed with your birthday" he continues, taking a sip of his tea as Steven goes to make his breakfast. "Of course Father! Glad to see you're 'ome to celebrate my birthday! I am rather sorry my alarm clock startled you, I guess I made a mistake with the speaker." He says, giving a slight smile as he makes his breakfast, and a cup of tea.
--10 minutes later, after breakfast.--
Steven sits down in the living room, waiting for his father, freshly dressed in a classy looking brown suit with a golden bowtie. Soon enough, his father appears in the doorway, dressed in a typical lab-coat with a slight futuristic design, holding a silver Pokeball decorated with futuristic looking glowing blue symbols and a neon green ring where the two halves are connected. He is beaming, and puts it on his son's lap. Steven looks very exited, and smiles broadly. "Oh, thank you so much! This is what I have always dreamed of, my own pokemon! This is absolutely lovely, nothing could get better!" He says, opening the Pokeball and looking at the young Vulpix. Oh, how he thought nothing could go wrong little did he know, a few days later he would encounter an event that would change him, forever...
{Flashback to the accident.} --5 months, 3 weeks, 5 days before start of journey.--
A television starts up, starting with crackling, but turning into a news channel, with the island's most popular news station tuning on. A young woman stands outside what seems to be the wreckage of an aircraft, which is burning with bright fire as what appears to be fuel leaks from the side, which burns with strange green flames. A young man, very injured, with an equally injured Vulpix lying next to him, are taken out of the wreckage by stretcher. The woman begins to speak.
"It was a cacophony of pain and flames... He was exploring another place, outside of his hometown, when a horrible accident happened... The son of the professor of a relatively large city witnessed an evil team bent on world domination have a failure with one of their aircraft... The simple act of an engineer forgetting to tighten a bolt on the frame caused the frame to break when it was airborne... It crashed to the ground, the crumpled frame along with many innocent creatures crashed into poor Steven... He was crippled, and for around 18 months, he will be unable to function properly, unless he has a very complicated and expensive operation done on his body to save him... This has been totally generic news broadcasting, signing out."
