@Aristo Not enough evidence, I imagine. You can't convict without that.

Religious fanatics (and other oppressive groups) are surprisingly good at fabricating evidence if there is a distinct lack of it. Don't like it? Well now you're on trial too for siding with a known heretic. You probably also consorted with demons, desecrated a gravestone, and used a Ouija board together, too!

Unless fair trials are a thing in this world and the church's power is limited...

I was going to mention that I don't see too many fair trials happening in medieval settings, considering legalism has been extremely biased in both fantasy and historically during these times.

How does he plan on convincing the emperor himself to take him along?

I should mention that Gareth isn't out to further his name through selfish motivation. It's more like: "I don't like what my family has become, I want it to represent something else and actually benefit the world while doing it."

@AristoFair point. He's a fairly well-loved storyteller in his home region, and it's possible he's been heard of. Having a storyteller bard along is useful, though. Someone needs to recount the epic tale once they vanquish the plague or its source!

Alternatively, he could find the leader of this evil force and seduce him/her/it to the side of good.

I mean, that's the point of a bard, right?

Oh my gooodness the OOC gets away from me 0-0
We will still accept ICs, yes there is a militant side to the church, but the Imperial City doesn't necessarily acknowledge it because it's one of those "We're not looking, so we don't see" things.
The names of the Goddesses are Iara (the good one) and Jirys (bad one).
Basically the way religion works for these people is that Iara and Jirys were the ones to create Caradia, they set it up and said this is our land, they took care of the people that were placed there and were their sort of mediators to the true higher powers (though the humans don't remember anymore that those true higher powers are the original dragons). They represent that standing together Caradia is unstoppable, but when the infighting starts (as it always does with twin sisters), they fall apart. They created shapeshifters and other similar creatures because they're tricky and sometimes devious twins.

And no. not truly everyone is out to further their names, and they know that, but as mentioned in his bio, he doesn't trust people a whole lot, so it's easier to assume that.

Gotcha; so there's a duality dynamic to their belief. But that said, why would anyone acknowledge the 'evil' goddess at all? Why not just revere the 'good' one? Unless it's not so much 'evil,' as it is sith-like passion.

It's one of those "We Praise Iara!" when everything's going great, but "Screw Jirys!" when things are going bad

So, looking at the two bards, they're pretty similar in function and attitude and all. That's not bad, necessarily, but I do have another character who is a bit more dour and certainly less bardly. I can submit his CS instead if that'd make for a more balanced story.

@Tybalt Capulet welp, we have sword king, sword girl, sword guy, bow girl, bard girl, magic boy, snake girl, insane guy.

We do appear to have a lack of sneaky guy/girls, but idk if anyone who hasn't made a sheet yet wants to do that

@vietmyke I'm conflicted between a sword-and-shield guy and a sneaky guy, actually.
