"Adventurers: Individually, and collectively, fumbling our way through existence."
Word of Ellenara's deeds have faded into legend, passed down through oral tradition until finally enscrawled upon still-ancient text. These folk tales tell of an elven woman born of the earth itself, who was fueled by a desire to learn, Terra's champion. Long before her coming of age, a spiritual guide in the form of an owl told her of her destiny, that she was born to rekindle the Flame of Gaia, but also that her destiny would come sooner than it was meant to be. A sorcerer king, maddened by his own power, sook to siphon the power of this primordial flame to use as a weapon to scorch the earth along with his enemies. The Champion would have to accept, or her world would soon be only barren cinders.
As she trekked through the underworld en route to the Flame, she searched for some sort of weapon to use against the enchanter. After barely scraping by some of the underworld's many horrors, she discovered that upon a ruined altar deep beneath the earth was a dusty tome entangled in the vines of a giant plant-like guardian. After making a deal with the guardian where she offered to give it access to sunlight, she was allowed to observe the wellspring of knowledge that the grimoire had to offer.
Now prepared to face the danger, the Champion set out with renewed confidence. It was soon that she entered a vast cavern of molten rock, with a passageway of untouched, almost cool stone leading to the heart of the underworld. There, she found Gaia's Flame, alongside the mad wizard. The battle was long and hard-fought, but ended when she harnessed the Flame itself to smite him. Afterward, she took his body and delivered it to the Flame as kindling, righting the damage that he had caused. In the form of a dove, she returned to her village as a sign of peace, and lived onward as each beast of the realm to observe and recount lore as it unfolded.
