Ondorro Spiders

Details: The Ondorro Spider nuisance has been going on long enough. A small hunting village located deep within the forest has been completely wiped out, leaving nothing but webs too thick to walk through. Through years of being left alone in the depths of the forests, they have bread to an unmanageable number. Any hunter wishing to take them on will need to have the utmost bravery to walk into this death trap.

The spiders themselves range in size from small dinner plates to as large small hounds. Their venom will cause instantaneous paralysis, so it is highly encouraged that you do not hunt alone and bring ample anti-paralysis potions. They are stronger than they may seem, though a sword wielded by a strong arm is capable of piercing their exoskeleton.

Werewolf of Silchester

Details: There have been multiple reports of a beast werewolf lurking in and around Silchester at nights. The villagers have been on edge lately and haven't been able to leave their homes after sundown. No one knows where it came from or who it may be. There have only been a few attacks on villagers so far, none of them have survived. You will have to ask around the town if you want to find out more.

Reminder that Werewolves are notoriously hard to kill. They must be beheaded, eviscerated or completely destroyed to kill them completely. If possible, bring the head back as proof of your deeds.

Ogre Attacks in the Crossroads

Details: Travelers have reported a particularly brave ogre has been making it's way down the Durot Mountains and has been killing entire caravans and picking through their goods. There have been three confirmed attacks so far, with a handful of suspected attacks. Travelers in the area have noted a significant amount of debris from other carts, as well as bits and pieces of bodies. This has caused a halt in goods coming to and from Rothenburg to the other cities of Belvoir. The crossroads are very important to our kingdom's economy and they must be safe for passage.

Take note that ogres are not to be taken lightly, despite their general lack of intelligence. They are very strong and have incredibly thick skin that cannot be pierced with normal weapons. The best ways to defeat an ogre is to outmaneuver it, as they are generally fairly slow, or catch it while it's asleep. They're eyes and groins are their only weak points while their skulls can also be bashed in with significant force.

The World of Belvoir

Belvoir is a bustling Kingdom with many cities, towns and farmlands. The capital city of Rothenburg is where the King resides along with his trusted advisers. Upon first glance, Rothenburg seems like a typical medieval city but closer observations reveal its many dark secrets. Things have always been mildly dangerous for the average peasant but recently, things have gotten much more deadly. New monsters have begun popping up, frequently attacking villagers and noblemen alike. They don't just attack outside the city walls any longer, now they have begun stalking prey inside the city.

That is where the new Hunters Guild is coming in to play. The King has sent word around for any exceptional man or woman to help protect the Kingdom's innocent people. The word has been spread quietly, only those of the utmost skill and reputation have gotten invitations. Due to the nature of the job, the King and his royal council wish to keep it quiet, exterminating the dangers that roam the Kingdom without drawing the attention of the common-folk.

On top of the frequent monster attacks, there is a number of corruption, secrets and affairs that happen behind the scenes in the noble houses. Everyone knows that the Three Families are powerful, but just how powerful? Who really runs the Kingdom?

World Info

Here are some basic details about the world the roleplay will be taking place in. There is a lot of info here so don't feel obligated to read it all right away. You may skim it to get an idea of how things work and I would recommend reading most of it before starting, but it is not required.

Rules

These rules should mostly be common sense: don't start any trouble and we should be fine.

1. Be courteous to other players, don't provoke or get into fights in the ooc.
2. Listen to the GM and any mods that may make requests
3. Either send your CS to me for approval before posting in the character tab or post it in the OOC page for approval.
4. Try to keep your posts interesting. A paragraph or two is preferred but creativity is more important than length. Make sure you put some thought into it before you post.
5. No overpowered characters, godmodding, controlling other characters without the owners permission, etc.
6. I'm not going to limit the number of characters you can play. It's up to you to decide how many you can handle.
7. This is an 18+ roleplay so fighting, gore, romance is accepted, just follow the Guild's rules with how far you take it.
8. Please try to be fairly active. Try to post in the IC or OOC at least once every few days, if not more.
9. Just use common sense and have fun!

Discord Channel

Feel free to use the Discord Channel for discussions with each other. Plot, talk about character developement, or just to chat.

Application

Please send your character sheet to me or post it in ooc for me to approve before posting it to the character tab.

The only creatures available for humans to become are lycans and vampires. While I would allow someone to turn into a wendigo, note that once a human transforms, they don't turn back. They also lose a lot of their humanity and become more animalistic. If you are going to play as a creature, we may need to work together to make sure the story of your character has to match some of the unknown background of the story.

I also encourage multiple characters, if you are able, as I want a variety of characters. I don't want all hunters or all monsters, I want some civilians to get stuck in the midst of the fighting and politics. I highly encourage any drama in the roleplay as long as it doesn't spill over into the OOC. Story drama = Fun and interesting. Real Life Drama = Something No One Needs.

@Nymeria: my human character! I may make a hunter and/or monster later on ~

Name: Alys Harris

Age: 20

Appearance:

Occupation/Status: Peasant

Strengths:
1. Resilient: she has survived through a rough childhood and will do anything to stay alive.
2. Agile: she is fast and can make quick movements without losing her balance.
3. Good with a bow and arrow: stemming from growing up on the edge of the woods, was taught by her father for hunting purposes.
4. Knowledge of nature: stemming from growing up on the edge of the woods, picked up knowledge from her parents on useful herbs and edible plants.

Weaknesses:
1. Fear of the forest: stemming from the death of her father. She avoids going in there unless she absolutely has to.
2. Lacks physical strength: she's a frail woman due to not having a proper diet.
3. Bad at hand-to-hand combat: has never been taught to fight and lacks the brute strength.
4. Small stature: weak to close-up attacks.

Personality: Alys is a kind and hard-working young woman. She is sociable as it's vital for her survival for people to like her. Whenever she's not working, she helps those less fortunate, especially doting on the poor and homeless children she encounters.

History: Alys was born into a poor family. Her parents struggled getting by on their meager wages, which is why after they accidentally got pregnant with Alys, they were careful to not have any more children. They lived in a home barely big enough for the three of them in Rothenburg, on the outskirts of the forest. As a child, she loved playing in the forest; looking for animals and attempting to climb trees were her favorite pastimes. One night, she ventured out into the forest with her father to collect more wood for kindling, as the nights began to grow colder. Driven for the need of better wood, her father went much deeper into the woods than he should have. Alys was instructed to wait for him and she did, collecting little twigs as she waited for his return. However, her father never came back. The following morning, her mother came looking for the both of them and found Alys frightened to death. She was freezing and was curled up under her pile of twigs and some leaves. Her father was never found. The only thing Alys could recount from the night is hearing a piercing scream. It is theorized that her father was attacked by a hungry giant bear. She was only eight at the time. After the trauma her and her mother experienced, they moved around, trying to get away from the forest and avoid continuing to live outside the outer wall. They ended up in the slums where little Alys helped her mother in any work they could find. About eight years later, her mother died from illness and she was left to fend for herself. Thankfully for Alys, she was a decently attractive and willing woman, and people liked this about her. She tended to be tipped well at whatever odd and/or small task she was given. As of now, Alys wanders throughout the city, looking for the best opportunities.

@Drakey Yeah I forgot to edit that out. I fixed it, there is no nephew, that was just leftover from an idea I had forever ago that I forgot to get rid of.

But you're good to post in the character tab.

To Everyone: We can start soon, though I think we need a few more characters to fill things out.

Okay so I said I was gonna work on something vampiric, and I still kinda want to, but I also want to recycle this guy maybe. Here's the first iteration of the converted CS (hence the formatting won't be 1:1 but all the requisite info is still there):

@Nymeria Some questions on some of the creatures for better clarification to determine my final interest.

  • Though there is mention of fire, no mention is made of sunlight as a vampiric weakness. Am I correct in assuming this means that these more closely resemble the original vampire myths that didn't care about the time of day?
  • What inspired you to use the wendigo, a myth of the Native Tribes of the Great Lakes, in a European medieval fantasy setting? I also see that these wendigo are greatly inspired by Until Dawn.
  • All your example images of witches are female, in line with modern popular depiction. Are all witches female? Historically, the term used to be gender neutral.
  • How well known is it that these magical creatures exist? Is it common knowledge, or are their people who scoff at the idea of men that become wolves and the living dead? There was a public stampede of ogres at one point, but large strong humanoids could be categorized as natural creatures I think, while the more "outlandish" beasts could be less acceptable, but I don't think it's indicated anywhere how well known they are to be a fact.

@ProPro Correct, vampires have no weakness to sunlight in this world.

I know they technically don't fit with the traditional setting, but I have watched through playthroughs of Until Dawn and thought Wendigo's were very interesting and possibly terrifying creatures to be involved with all the others.

I suppose there could be male witches but they are mostly female. At least the four main, most powerful witches are female. But I have nothing against male witches.

It is common knowledge that magic creatures exist. That being said, all the details about them are not common knowledge. The hunters would most likely understand the difference between old wives tales and what is really effective against each creature, but the common folk don't necessarily know the difference. There are rumors about ways to repel creatures that the common folk pass around that are not effective, but it helps them feel like they're doing something to keep themselves safe.

So, essentially, not everyone knows a lot about each creature, but they mostly all believe in their existence.

@Nymeria Ah, I see. So then my idea of a character couldn't work here. I was thinking of a thief that stole a real elite hunter's invitation to the guild who decided to go anyway because, "Hell, I'll make some easy money conning these idiots that think magic monsters exis-OHSHITOHSHITOHSHITTHAT'SAREALWEREWOLF!"

I'll see if I can think of a different sort of character that speaks to me, but don't let me hold up getting the game started if I don't throw out a CS immediately.

@ProPro Hahaha, I like that idea XD

The only way I would think that would work, though, is if they grew up somewhere far off where these creatures were considered a myth. It would be hard for them to go anywhere else without finding out they were real. So yeah, it's up to you if you want to try to make it work but let me know if you have any other questions.
