Battle Of Dragonrage Pass

~@Eisenhorn~

"Typical, a fight breaks out, and the buzzards arive. Curious, that they would be here at just the right time though..."
Jerod Staudinger

"Ummm, they were here the entire time. This is... was a meeting between the Dwarves and the entire League after all." Prince Alfonse corrected you. "Although, King Joshua and his elite soldiers and lieutenants are usually present during meetings like these. Yet, he is not here and all we have are these Varjan rank-and-file as representatives which has never happened before."

"But now is not the time to speculate. Let's go!"

Alfonse and the others began to battle the Varjans and it was time you did as well. Your first opponent was a Varjan Warrior with an axe. He made the first swing which was easily evaded but he followed it with a hefty punch which sent you to the ground. He raised his axe high to finish you off but you were still conscious enough to evade it. He grunts in annoyance as he charged you again, his axe in poised to swing.

Now was the time for a counterattack.

Jerod Staudinger

"Quibble over details later indeed, let us go about our grim business." It was growing increasingly plain that the Varjans were up to something, but that was neither here nor there for now. Joining the assault against the Varjans, he moved to intercept the Warrior that brandished an axe in a vaugely menacing way in his direction. Jerod smirked, rapier in hand as he ducked the first swing, ducking right into an uppercut which sent him reeling. Finding his footing unsound in the impact, he was on his back as the Warrior tried and bring the axe down to a swift end. Rolling to his side, he was on his feet and distance reset as the snarling Warrior raised in a swing. Too telegraphed, far too telegraphed, and Jerod acted as the Warrior charged forward. The sellsword lunged forward, deftly fast, intercepting the man well before he would have been prepared with a precise thrust for the throat. This time he minded his footing though, because the mass of a Warrior moving forward wouldn't stop just because his throat had been pierced, and he would have to move on a moment's notice.

Ferrian

Ferrian watched as everything unfolded. Kazador didn't feel the need to actually join them because... well, the Dwarves never backed down from a fight. The Manakete decided to follow them as they retreated - the Royals agreeing that they should do it. Honestly, Ferrian didn't even like the idea of doing anything - let alone fighting. Did he not simply wish for a simple nap? The white haired Manakete couldn't help but grumble. Unlike the others, he didn't need to particularly do anything. They were all here for the peace meeting, he was just an innocent bystander who thought that maybe setting up camp here might have been a good idea. It definitely wasn't, since the peace meeting was happening, but it wasn't like he knew that it was going to happen at that point in time. He was looking forward to leaving this place and putting all this behind him.

However, as they neared the area, someone was blocking their path. A Varjan by the name of... Gnazgraz? He let out a sigh. Varjans, always looking for a fight. That was when an Archanean regiment was nearing them. That was when Anna said that they should split up. Ferrian thought it was a good idea, and knew that he had no choice but to aid them for now. "Varjans are always so bloodthirsty aren't they?" He muttered. He always had a strong distaste for them. He'd like to end this quickly. "I apologize in advance for my... rather flashy fighting style." He told them before his forearm began to glow - or to be more accurate, his arm guard. The Dragonstone began to glow violently and enveloped him in a bright light. In a moment after, a dark white dragon appeared in his position and let out a fireball towards the Varjans. It was time to scatter them.
General Luna

Luna looked at Kazador and then nodded. "Naga guide you." She muttered, motioning her right hand that was like a sort of prayer for warriors before they plunge themselves into war. She knew that Kazador didn't believe in Naga as they had different Gods and Goddesses, but she hoped that the thought would not be lost in him. She moved to leave with the others with her left hand on the hilt of her sword to be prepared to unsheathe it when the time comes. Luna stopped with the others when they encountered a Varjan Captain by the name of Gnazgraz. She never did like Varjans, as speaking with them usually led to brawls or duels or... well, considering their nature, it should be clear what the others are. Unsheating her sword, she was prepared to fight but then heard voices from the back.

An Archanean Paladin ordered a charge on them because they aided Kazador. Dwarves were protecting them, but as Prince Jarde said, they weren't going to last forever. Something seemed to snap in Luna. She turned to Jerod and said, "Like you said, I was planning to pull a rank. Now... well, let's just say they have betrayed what we have come here for." Their punishment was obvious. Luna turned around and then calmly walked towards them. With her shield ready and her right hand wielding the sword, she approached them with silent fury. She knew these people, but she didn't much care for that now.

"Am I truly the one who should be branded a traitor?" There were no reasons as she quickly jumped into the fray with the other royals who were assigned to aid the Dwarves.

Battle Of Dragonrage Pass

~@Eisenhorn~

You successfully pierce the Varjan Warrior's throat, stopping his charge. His grip on his axe loosened, the weapon falling from his hand. He, too, also fell. Dead from the well-placed thrust.

But then a fist sent you to the ground again. You had another opponent but it was probably someone you did not expect. "Die! Die for Varjo!" Gnazgraz yelled as tried to drive his spiky sword upon you. You manage to block it in time, locking both your swords. However, Gnazgraz's might was proving superior and his blade's tip was nearing your chest each second. It was time to--

*BOOM*

You saw a fireball head towards the Varjans. Gnazgraz's attention shifted away from you to look upon the commotion, giving you the perfect opportunity to retaliate and move into a more favorable position.

~@Polaris North (FRN)~

Your fireball managed to blow a portion of the Varjan ranks. Everyone in the battle took a moment to notice your transformation before resuming battle.

Suddenly you feel a sting upon your hindleg. Apparently a Varjan Warrior has stuck his two-handed axe into you. Other Varjans have begun to do the same, hitting you with their weapons in a clear attempt to bring you down. Their weapons were not suited to take out dragons but the larger weapons were able to pierce your scales. Despite having ineffective weapons, the Varjans continued hacking away with you and your natural armor could only hold them for so long.

You needed to do something before you are overwhelmed.

~@Polaris North (LNA)~

The last of the Dwarves were killed and thus, you and your other allies were the only one holding off the Archaneans. Despite being outnumbered, your group was adept at fighting and managed to hold off the Soldiers. However, there was many of them and they were not going to break until their Paladin leader was still alive.

You then spot the red-ribboned girl ride her pegasus into the air before diving towards the Paladin. "EMMA!" The dark mage woman screamed. It was clear that her plan was to bypass the Soldiers and head directly to the Paladin, likely planning ot take him out to end the fight immediately. "Emma! What are you doing?!" The woman yelled again before her attention was fully occupied by an attacking Soldier.

The Paladin was ready, however, and with one, powerful swing of his sword, he knocked the girl named Emma from her pegasus. His horse then raised its forelegs and aimed its hooves at the grounded Emma who was too shocked to move.

You needed to do something but what can you do with the distance between you and Emma? Perhaps you could make use of the Soldiers' spears?

~@Zaphander~

Things went rather unfortunate as you made your way through the encampment in Dragonrage Pass. Things were pretty peaceful a moment ago but with a sudden explosion and some shouts of treachery, the entire encampment was up in arms. Regardless of your reasons being there, you were now caught up in the fighting between man and Dwarf.

You make it through the fighting and burning and found yourself a whole regiment of Archanean Soldiers fighting someone. You could not see who they were fighting though since you approached them from behind. What you could see, however, was an Archanean Paladin about to crush a helpless girl beneath his horse's hooves.

Will you intervene? And get yourself involved in this mess?

Jerod Staudinger

Felling an armored warrior with well placed thrust to the joints in the armor was always a satisfying endeavor, proved the validity of his general lack of armor despite being in the field of battle constantly. Of course, another sucker punch reminded him that Varjans had no concept of fair play, which suited him fine as he spotted that the offender wasn't some random warrior, but the mouthy, loud gladiator fellow. His name wasn't worth remembering, which was a greater insult then death for someone who made their living by gladiatorial combat, if one was honest. Catching that barbed sword against his own, he tested the man's strength and, unsurprisingly, it was a losing contest for the Elibean sellsword. It was about time to fight to his strengths rather than his...

That thought was cut off by the hurtling sound and explosion of a fireball, and a quick glance confirmed that a dragon had joined the fray on their side. Or it was just attacking the most obvious targets, burn that bridge later. Using the distraction that was made, the fool Gladiator taking his eyes off the foe, he turned his blade to the side, putting the Varjan's sword arm between Jerod and the other sword and aiming a swift kick upwards at the gladiator's family jewels, kicking up to avoid the armor on the man's waist. Rather than waste anymore time with low blows, he rolled back and onto his feet, off hand catching a handful of loose dirt and dust off the ground while he took a low stance, blade's tip pointed at the Gladiator and making an off hand remark in regards to his rather irksome ranting on about death. "Die for Varjo, mmh? By all means then, savage, lead by example!"

"Oh hells hell hells!"

Danica was just minding her own business when she ended up in the middle of some warzone. The next time she saw that merchant, she was going to get her money back for this "Lucky Charm" he sold to her. Granted she haggled it to a tenth of the price he was asking for, but it still didn't work. Right now Danica wanted to get out of this place: she had no idea who was fighting who, and if she drew a weapon here she was liable to get attacked by everyone at once. She Danica ran, avoiding stray magic and arrows. Fortunately it doesn't seem like anyone was after her in particular so she could easily make a clean escape.

However before she could she saw something that made her stop. Another woman who looked defenseless, about to be trampled underneath a warhorse. Danica acted fast, dashing over to the woman and dragging her aside. Taking the shield out from underneath her full-body cloak, Danica raised it up ready to intercept any attacks. But she knew she was going to be outnumbered and while that normally didn't bother her, she couldn't fight and protect this girl at the same time.

"We have to go. Can you run?"

Ferrian

It seemed that making himself a bigger target wasn't really ideal, but when he saw that his companions were at least able to reach the Gnazgraz. Feeling the sting from the attacks of the Varjans, who were ill-equipped against him but still did damage with their sheer brute force, he decided he had to do something instead of just sitting around.

Spinning which caused his tail to make knock the Varjans back, his wings spread out and then he took off for the sky. Now out of reach from their melee weapons, he knew he had to look out for archers, mages, and whatever those Dwarves had. After all, a dragon isn't exactly something you would deem 'friendly' in a battlefield. He eyed Jerod who was facing off with the Varjan General. It would be better if no one bothered that certain battle which would cause Jerod to lose focus, now wouldn't it?

Looking back down at the Varjan squad, he let out a fire breath upon them before flying forward, circling back and unleashing yet another. He had to keep on moving lest he be hit.
General Luna

Luna watched as the last of the Dwarves were cut down by Archanean blades - and the festering anger she had boiled over. While she easily got angry, that didn't necessarily mean she got reckless. Swiping upwards with her sword, effectively rendering one of the soldiers incapacitated, she moved on to throw her hand axe towards another who had been preparing to strike against one of her allies. Running towards that area, she grabbed hold of her hand axe and then prepared to throw it again when she suddenly saw the Pegasus Rider from before - Emma - dive down towards the Paladin with her companion screaming at her.

But the Paladin was more prepared as he managed to knock Emma off her pegasus and his horse was prepared to stomp down. Luna rolled towards one of the spears from the dead soldiers and then released it towards the Paladin. Thankfully, someone had protected Emma from being crushed under the weight of the horse, but they wouldn't last too long. Hopefully that spear would go right through the Paladin, and seeing as how he was distracted by the two girls, maybe he wouldn't even notice the flying spear.

Rionach

A sidelong glance flew to Ferrian as he commented on the nature of humans. And you're not? Come to think of it, the young man did look a little strange. Either way, no time could be spared at the moment for such considerations. Every adrenaline-filled second spent waiting to skedaddle increased the likeliness of taking a full helping of iron to the guts. Rionach's look turned aghast when Luna suggested that Kazador joined them. “If they come with, we'll be targeted!” she said through gritted teeth, in a low but urgent voice. She really did not want to antagonize the dwarves in any way, especially since they'd been so accommodating, but the fact remained that her best chances did not include them. An attack made the next moment by an Archanean soldier illustrated her point. Thankfully, Kazador defended himself, and then elected to fight with his own crew. A brief sigh of relief escaped Rionach's lips, though it turned to annoyance as the overdressed sellsword spoke down on her. If the situation weren't so chaotic she might have talked back, but for now she zeroed in on the royals siblings of Askr, who were ready to depart. Given the chance to flee by the troop of dwarves, the bunch of misfits made tracks.

Their path to safety ended up bringing them face-to-face with another melee. Even Rionach, with her lack of battlefield experience, could identify the Varjans. With the suggestion of a detour on her lips, the spearwoman turned to look for another route, only to spot another regiment hot on her group's heels. The words they called out made Rionach's blood curdle, part of it from anger for General Luna's shortsighted invitation of vengeance. Before anything could happen, the merchant of all people offered a makeshift battle plan, splitting the forces like a seasoned tactician. Of course, Anna's scheme left out the majority of people present, leaving them to decide for themselves. As dangerous as it would be to turn her back on armored barbarians, Rionach liked her odds against the sword-wielding Archanean soldiers better, since her spear afforded her an advantage—besides, if the Paladin were to change his pursuit into a cavalry charge to disrupt her team's ranks, they'd need a spear to stave it off. That much, Rionach knew from her many hours spent chatting up veterans of war in pubs and inns. Rionach nodded, committed to the idea. If her choice ever came into question, self-defense would be her excuse, though with any luck she would never need answer for this fighting.

As she hefted her spear and faced the incoming Archaneans with a battle-ready stance, she became aware of fighting behind her and a flash of light. The sound of raging fire followed suit, but as curious as she was, Rionach could not afford to split her attention. Isolated as they were, the dwarves had no choice but to fight to the bitter end, and as the last fell the enemy advanced once again, fresh blood splattered across their weapons. Two approached her, one a few feet in front of the other. Take the initiative. Element of surprise. Clenching her teeth, Rionach planted her weapon's butt in the ground, pulled, and then jumped. Her spear's shaft bent before straightening with a snap, sending its wielder up and forward in a flip. In the heat of the moment she couldn't think of anything more articulate than “Rrragh!” as she slammed her weapon down during the end of her vault, aimed at the head of the first soldier. With a halberd such a move might have been deadly, but with a spear it wouldn't do much more than stun him, though that meant a quick kick to his chest would keep him indisposed for a moment. That meant, however, that Rionach was still gathering her balance by the time the second soldier reached her. She aimed a thrust at Rionach's torso, which the highlander attempted to parry by knocking it to the side, but her desperate attempt to defend meant a likely miss. Hell! Is this it?!

From the direction of Luna, axe flew into the other woman from the side, cutting into her studded-leather spaulder and dangling there. The impact and subsequent wait shocked the soldier enough to give Rionach the chance she needed. Holding her spear sideways with both hands, Rionach rammed into her opponent, toppling her over. From there, a thrust to the unprotected thigh should render her down for the count. Luna appeared to retrieve her axe, but the next moment the pegasus rider from earlier made a play at the enemy leader only to be stuffed by a single attack. Rionach jumped back, feeling overwhelmed from too much happening at once as well as the arrival of additional soldiers. As another two swordsmen approached her, testing her extended guard with swipes meant to knock her speartip aside, she found herself driven back toward the wall of the pass. Jabs could ward them off, but any committed thrust would give the other soldier a chance to get into close range, bring the fight -and Rionach's life- to a quick end. The soldiers seemed to know it, while Rionach herself had no clue how to deal with this without the element of surprise.

Sordan

Sneaking around the flanks, keeping to the shadows, he witnessed the battle raging around him as he snuck from shadow to shadow, leaving unsuspecting enemies dead as he moved around to find a meaningful way he can turn the tide of battle. His job was assassination, fighting and killing the lynchpin of the enemy army and then slipping away. With his old, battered Killing Edge drawn he snuck between the shadows of the tents and trees and various terrain, looking for what may or may not be the enemy leader. If he can't get to them, he could at least spot them and rejoin with the others to inform them of this information.

For now he peeked out from the shadows, trying to find the one calling the shots. The battle seemed to be going so-so, but with this many enemies, it could be difficult or take too long to win without proper tactics. The Askran nobles were already jumping into action, so it was unlikely their side would fall so soon.

Battle Of Dragonrage Pass

~@Eisenhorn~

Gnazgraz was caught off-guard from your manuever and dropped his weapons when you kicked him in the crotch, allowing you to move away and assume a more favorable position. The Varjan Warlord replied with an angry cry and a daring manuever. He grabbed hold of your blade with an iron-like grip and pulled you towards him. He then seized your neck and lifted you up with his free hand before completely holding you above his head.

With another cry, Gnazgraz hurled you towards the Varjan group. There, you were surrounded and alone amongst bloodthirsty warriors. There was no escaping from their blades and axes short of a miracle. A miracle did indeed come for a dragon in the air breathed balls of fire upon the Varjans, giving a certain Askrian Prince an opportunity to come to your aid. "Hey! Are you alright?!" Alfonse called to you, fighting off any Varjan Warrior who tried to stop him.

"Here." The royal handed you his Silver Sword. It appeared that you have lost your rapier whilst you went flying across the battlefield. "Get Gnazgraz. I'll clear a way for you." And with that, Alfonse began fighting the Varjans armed with only his shield. Though, he was doing a pretty good job at it.

Gnazgraz was a bit of distance from you, fighting more stragglers from the encampment with his new weapon: A Steel Lance. Alfonse and the others have been distracting the Varjans to allow you a straight path at him.

~@Polaris North (FRN)~

Your presence in the sky caught the attention of many but that did little to dissuade anyone from fighting further.

The fire you breathed further broke apart the Varjans. However, their leader lived still and so their line held and kept fighting off anyone who tried to pass through them. At the very least, you gave your allies below a space to breath and recollect themselves.

However, your domination over the sky was soon challenged. Projectiles of all kinds were being hurled towards you. There were too many to evade and so you took some hits while you flew. While some were mere arrows that bounced off you harmlessly, others were of higher quality and managed to break off some of your scales. Some were plain magic and that bypassed your natural defenses. Staying in the air any further invited danger to your life but was the ground any safer?

~@Sho Minazuki~

Your group of misfits appeared to be split fighting two groups of enemies at once. On one side, Prince Jarde and some others were fighting a regiment of Archanean Soldiers led by a Paladin. On the other side, Prince Alfonse and his sister along with others fought the Varjan Warriors led by a gladiator-looking warrior who was keen on blocking anyone trying to leave the chaos.

The Archanean Paladin was about to crush the pegasus-riding girl beneath his horse's hooves but it looked like others were coming to her rescue and deal with the horseman. Still, Archanean Paladins were not easy to defeat. They lead on the frontlines after all and that meant that they tended to be better fighters than those they lead. He was just knocked off his horse by a narrowly-avoided spear so he was more vulnerable now.

Meanwhile, over at the Varjan side of the fight, things were more desperate. While Prince Alfonse and the others were doing pretty well for themselves, you could see that they were having difficulty in their fights. Unsurprising considering Varjan Warriors were clad in thick armor and wielded well-forged weapons as well as being Varjans, a people who knew war and violence since birth. You spot their leader in the middle of dealing with stragglers trying to escape, reveling in the bloodshed he was causing.

~@Polaris North (LNA)~

The spear you threw did not hit its mark. It was evaded, in fact, but the evasion cost the Paladin his height advantage by riding his horse.

You see the Soldiers form a small line that stood between their Paladin superior and Emma and her white-clothed protector. You see Emma charge and fight the Soldiers in order to open up the Paladin to attack, the attacker clearly being the white-clothed woman. However, you know Paladins were no pushovers when it came to fighting and you have no idea about the woman's combat prowess. Also, Emma appeared to be a good fighter considering how she was able to hold off five Soldiers but they were still five Soldiers and Emma was but alone.

No one appeared to be paying attention to you right now so you were free to assist either of the two.

~@Zaphander~

"We have to go. Can you run?"
Danica

"Yeah, yeah. I can." The girl replied. "The question is, can we?"

The Paladin did not appreciate your timely rescue and was about to swing his Silver Sword when a spear thrown his way caught his attention. He barely evaded it with a sudden turn and that made him fall off his horse. His Soldiers were quick to put themselves between him and you, putting their lives on the line to protect their superior.

"It's a long story but we're trying to take down the Paladin so we could escape. And this is our chance!" The pegasus girl told you, giving you a short gist of what she was trying to do. "I'll take on the Soldiers while you deal with the Paladin, okay? Let's go!" She said before charging ahead. Despite her petite figure, she did fight off the Soldiers protecting the Paladin and allowing the opportunity to strike the latter unimpeded.

You spot the Paladin getting up using his sword. He saw you too and he and readied himself for a fight.

~@Lugubrious~

Your predicament with the two swordsmen was solved quite readily when one of them was attacked by a Prince Jarde. The royal wielded a Steel Lance and with the element of surprise, he managed to get your attackers away from you, relieving you from your dangerous position as well as giving you a moment to recompose yourself.

However, the two swordsmen were not done but at least this time you had someone to fight with you. A royal of Elibe no less. "Nice to see a fellow lance user." Prince Jarde remarked as he stood beside you, his own lance at the ready. "Get one and I'll get the other. What do you say?"

Sighing Danica glanced around as the girl seemed eager to fight. At least she didn't seem completely helpless, just had a moment of weakness. This was good; Danica wouldn't have to worry about taking care of her now. And while she didn't want to get involved in this battle she knew it was just a matter of time before the war had dragged her into the fighting, one way or another. At least now she could have a clear conscious that she got involved to save someone, not just to kill people. As the pegesus rider went off to fight the soldiers Danica was left to duel the paladin. She knew he was going to be a tough opponent but she wasn't a weakling either. So she moved towards him, dancing around any soldier who tried to get an attack on her.

From her cloak came two rapid blue slashes. The first was a strike to the eyes, just to get him to raise his blade or move to avoid getting cut. The second slash looked like it was going to be another strike for the head, but it was actually a feint; he true target was his sword hand, and she intended to disarm or possibly even cut his hand off, though she knew his armor may foil the strike. All the while Danica never stood still. Even if none of her blows were decisive she focused mostly on avoiding his while throwing light attacks to chip away at his stamina. She couldn't afford to go toe-to-toe with this guy so her attacks would be fast but light; she'll whittle him down soon enough.

"I'll gladly accept your surrender if you tell your men to stand down and let us pass!"

It appears there were two fronts to this fight, a difficult situation regardless of strength. So it seems his priority would be to even the flow of battle first, and then he can think about going after victory conditions. Both fronts led by royalty, it appears that of the two, the fight against the Varjans was expectedly tough, the thick armor made it tricky for his Killing Edge to make a killing stroke, but against their footsoldiers his speed still made up for it, the problem was going to be their leader.

Breaking into a rapid sprint, he made his way to the Varjan leader, most of the soldiers he ran into maybe only saw the wind before being struck down, seeing him only for a mere moment. A few times his strike did not kill immediately, so he had to double up and swing twice, but these beefier Varjan warriors still fell to him from his sheer speed.

His aim was to make it to the Varjan leader quickly, before he can realize someone was coming, and immediately obtain an advantage in any ensuing duel by landing the first strike.

As soon as he was a few blades within reach, his sprint turned into a dash as he went to sweep past, trying to strike his wrists or arm in order to make it more difficult for him to fight. A Varjan warrior was no concern to him as far as running and evading went, but their blows were nothing to scoff at.

Jerod Staudinger

Much to Jerod's annoyance, the Gladiator was throwing brute force tactic after brute force tactic his way, even recovering from a swift, very unsportsmanlike kick in rather rapid fashion that gave him little time to even retaliate. The hand on his throat, and blade that had pulled him close, did not last long before he was thrown, landing among the Varjan Warriors. Going for his rapier, he already found the damned thing had been lost, or stolen, after he was thrown. While he had no intent of dying on his ass, the dragon's fire breathing once again created an opening, the Prince Alfonse quickly rushing to his side and hauling him to his feet and asking after his health. "I still breath, Princeling, and that Gladiator owes me a new blade." The venom in his voice was clear, and if were in slightly better preparedness, he'd have already poisoned his blade before engaging the Varjan leader.

Cocking an eyebrow at the Silver Sword thrust into his hands, Jerod was about to question the Prince's plan to fight with a shield, only to see him storm ahead and start working the shield like a weapon. "...Fine, even if Silver isn't my usual style." No sense wasting breath, or time, the sellsword took off at a swift run, dirt freeing itself from his coat while he ran forward. He was moving low and fast, taking full advantage of the path given to him as he eyed another approaching and making their own assault on the Gladiator. Going for his arms and wrists, not a terrible idea, and he would take advantage of the opening made. Keeping an eye for the lance, or attempts to strike or grapple him again, he lunged low, aiming to slip the tip of the Silver Sword right below the ribs and upwards, aiming to avoid the ribcage entirely instead of attempt to match brute force with more force of his own.

Battle Of Dragonrage Pass

~@Eisenhorn, @Sho Minazuki~

Sordan's quick and clean dispatching of Varjan Warriors did not go unnoticed by Gnazgraz. The Varjan Warlord readied with his Steel Lance tight in his grip.

When Sordan made the first strikes, Gnazgraz was ready to block and parry them. Alas for the Warlord, he had not seen Jerod coming for him also and was taken by surprise. His defense faltered and both Jerod and Sordan hit his wrists and arms, forcing him to drop his weapon. Jerod then finished him off with a thrust from a Silver Sword into his ribs.

Life left the Varjan Warlord as he fell unto his back. Gnazgraz the Gladiator was no more.

The Varjan Warriors around all looked at awe. Their mighty leader was felled. They thought him invincible, unbreakable. Their shock was taken advantage of. Prince Alfonse and the others along with some stragglers renewed their fighting vigor and soon, some of the Varjan Warriors have begun to rout and run. The line was broken.

Meanwhile, the Archaneans chasing the group were also routing with their Paladin leader nowhere to be seen. Presumably dead considering the Soldiers were running.

"This is our chance! Come on! LET'S GO!" Anna yelled at the top of her lungs so all her allies could hear her.

~@Zaphander~

"I'll gladly accept your surrender if you tell your men to stand down and let us pass!"
Danica

The Paladin, despite being disarmed from your attacks, bellowed. "NEVER!"

He charged once more but you were ready to dance around him and continued whittling him down. However, there was no need for that for a bolt to the throat ended the Paladin threat for you. Looking over, you see a large Dwarf with a crossbow. It was clear that it was he who shot your opponent and he only nodded to you before running off. You have no idea why a Dwarf would help you but perhaps that was a question for another time considering the present.

The Archanean Soldiers noticed that their leader was gone. Dread and fear filled them and their ranks faltered. Soon enough, the Soldiers began routing and running, ending their threat to... whoever they were attacking.

"This is our chance! Come on! LET'S GO!" You hear the woman you recognize as the renowned merchant Anna yell at the top of her lungs.

You see a good number of people run past a broken line of Varjan Warriors. You went with them since it was your objective to escape the battle anyway.

~@Eisenhorn, @Sho Minazuki, @Zaphander~

The group ran as fast as they could until the sounds of battle could no longer be heard. They had succeeded in escaping from the chaotic battle.

Entering a nearby forest, they settled in a clearing that had a convenient stream to drink from and clean. "Well now... I have to admit in all my travels, I never expected something like that." The dark mage woman said. "Also, Emma! What were you thinking just charging in like that?! You could've been seriously hurt?" She scolded the pegasus rider.

"Eheehee... I'm sorry, Shade." The girl named Emma sheepishly laughed. "I thought I could take out the Paladin with a surprise attack." She explained. "But hey, it's all right. This kind, brave woman over here saved me." She motioned to Danica. "Hey thanks by the way."

It was then that Prince Jarde rose. "No doubt this would reverberate all across Arcadia. War would officially be declared between the League and the Dwarven Kingdoms." He spoke, referring to the battle earlier. "As the prince of Elibe, I cannot let this happen. Elibean, no, innocent lives will be lost in this war." The prince declared. "I don't know about you guys but I'm going to Elibe and try to explain that this battle was but a misunderstanding and not an act of aggression. Hopefully my parents will listen and try to spread the message across the Council Of Royals."

"I shall do that as well." Prince Alfonse stood up. "Me and Sharena will return to Askr and explain to the Zenith Union what had happened so that they do not go to war under false pretenses." He then looked at Jarde. "With both of us being princes, I am confident we can sway the entire League from declaring war against the Dwarves and plunging Arcadia into bloodshed."

"Let's hope the Dwarves are in a talking mood after that." Princess Sharena then spoke. "Not to mention Varjo."

"A misunderstanding huh?" The dark mage named Shade repeated Jarde's words. "It's obvious that whatever caused that battle was not the Dwarves betraying the League or vice-versa. Someone instigated that in order for the League and for the Dwarves to war against each other. But who could wish such a thing?" Shade explained. "The Terrors? Undead? Are they even capable of that?"

"Sounds like someone needs to embark on an adventure to find out." Emma suggested. "We'll probably start in Valentia or Archanea. I bet it's those stupid Varjans though."

"What about us, hon?" Jake asked, sitting beside the merchant. A comforting smile upon his face.

"...I'll do what I do best, I guess." Anna replied. "Run around Arcadia, sell stuff. I bet I could make a killing selling weapons and potions under these tensions." She explained weakly.

"You're such a bad liar." Jake remarked but after a raised eyebrow from the merchant, he added. "...Under stress."

"What about you, guys?" Prince Jarde then asked those remaining. "We are going our separate ways. I'm not sure if you've any business to do but you are welcome to come with us."

"Or us." Prince Alfonse stood beside his sister Sharena.

"Or us." Emma stood up with Shade beside her.

"Or us." Anna and Jake stood up. "Although, I'm serious about us running around Arcadia okay?"

It was time to choose. But this choice must not be taken lightly for there may be no turning back from the chosen path.

Dancing and swiping at the knight, Danica was about to go for the final blow when a bolt shot into the paladin's neck. he fell to the ground dead as Dancia turned to face her new enemy, but instead she saw a dwarf who simply nodded to her and ran. She gave the dwarf an inquisitive scowl before he ran off. The rest of the paladin's soldiers quickly lose moral and were routed, giving Danica time to flee. However the only safe was to go was where many other soldiers, presumable enemies of her current enemies, where fleeing towards. She'd hope that saving that Pegasus rider would provide her some protection.

Eventually Danica arrived to a clearing where things were considerably calmer. She put her sword away and tighten the cloak around her body. Though these people seemed thankful, she still had to be wary around these strangers. Last thing she wanted was to get entrapped in some royal scheme. Which... She ultimately was. Apparently these people were princes and princesses of the different powers in the world, or at least influential people associated with them. Danica had no idea what she got herself into. The girl she saved, Emma, at least thanked Danica so she knew she was safe for now. But now she needed to decide who to go with. Danica didn't know any of these people but admittedly, she knew a time like this was bound to happen. War was brewing and if Danica didn't fight, she'd get swallowed by the chaos. And that's not how she operated.

Walking up to Emma, Danica pulled her hood down and flicked her hair out from her cloak. She gave the reckless girl a smirk. "I guess I'll stick with you. You'll need me to watch your back after all." Danica turned to the others and bowed her head. "My name is Danica, a simple dancer trying to make a living in these trying times. Though I suppose I'll be more useful as a soldier for now."

Ferrian

Ferrian knew better than to stay in the air for a long time - but both the sky and the ground was a danger to him and an easy target. Bellowing out fire on the ground, he quickly landed. Of course, he still sustained injuries after that. The dragon swiped his claws at the Varjans, throwing one of them against the other in an attempt to distract more of them.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw that two were now battling it off with Gnazgraz. Good, he didn't know how long he could hold out against all these forces. Battle hardened he may be, but he wasn't invincible - even with being a Manakete and all. There was little he could do to help them aside from serving as a distraction to the main bulk of his forces. Should he aim to help, collateral damage was certainly a danger. He knew that from experience.

Seeing the death of Gnazgraz and Anna telling them to get the hell out of there, Ferrian once more spread his wings and followed the group - flying away from the battle and to the safety of the outside. Once they were a a safe distance and the group stopped, he landed and transformed back into his human form. He let out a small grunt as he sat down. He definitely did not sign up for any of this. He won't go and say it's been a while since he fought, but it has definitely been quite some time since he fought in a battle of such caliber. Bandits were nothing to these guys. He rubbed his right leg, a dulled pain making itself known. The Varjans really went out on his leg huh?

He listened to the discussions of the nobles and the merchant. So they were planning on keeping everything in order huh? He knew exactly why they were doing that, but if it would work, he couldn't completely assure it. Tensions were way too high. Ferrian wanted no part in this, but he couldn't exactly leave now. Ferrian stood up, limped nearer to the group and then said, "I'll go with the merchant." He looked towards the red head who resembled the woman from centuries past in both looks and name. "I am also seeking something and travelling all around Arcadia would aid me in my search. In the meantime, I shall aid you in your endeavors." Perhaps he had more of a chance of finding his sister with a group.

General Luna

Luna smiled when the Paladin fell from his horse, and the dancer from before began attacking. Luna was about to join in when a soldier came up from behind to attempt to take her life. Thankfully, she managed to block the incoming attack and then push the soldier back before driving her sword down the neck of the taller soldier. She pulled out the sword and was about to run towards the Paladin when she saw that the leader had fallen with a bolt in his throat. Well. That was convenient.

She went with the group as they escaped, only taking one last look at the carnage that unfolded before her. This wasn't what she had expected to happen. She didn't even get a chance to check on the representative who most likely died in the battle. Luna wondered what would happen if she returned. Most likely branded as a traitor, but she was confident that she could convince King Hardin otherwise... or at least, she hoped so. Luna turned back and then fled alongside the others, holstering her sword and axe in the process.

Once they reached a safe place where the nobles decided to camp, Luna began to contemplate her own future actions. It was imperative that she returned to Archanea, but the feeling that she would not be welcomed greatly dissudaded her from doing so. At least, not alone. She kept an ear open for them as she almost got lost in her own thoughts. They seemed to be focused on either alarming the others that this was not a declaratoin of war and finding out what exactly happened that led to this. It was a good idea, and she agreed with their actions. At least these royals had a good head on their shoulders.

That was when Emma volunteered to search for the cause - naming Valentia and Archanea as their places of interest. It seemed that it would be a good idea to tag along. It was either this or returning alone, and she doubted the latter would be good for her. Hopefully this wouldn't impede the group's progress. "I shall also go with Miss Emma." She said after the dancer, Danica, had spoken. "Archanea is my homeland, and I know the twists and turns of it. My rank in the army should prove to be useful as well, if you are searching for answers that would be privy to others." That is, if the news of her fleeing and also battling her own soldiers hadn't reached the kingdom. She'd just hope for the best. Bowing her head respectfully at the dancer, she continued, "I hope we can get along. My name is Luna."

Jerod Staudinger

"As I said, gladiator, lead by example!" Wrenching the silver blade out of the dying Gladiator, he watched the Varjans falter and seem to stumble without the guidance and reassurance of their oh so invincible leader. Terrible way to lead, the sellsword considered with disdain, if an army is so readily bested because its head was lost, it should not bring about an air of its mightiest leaders fight at the front. Turning away, he quickly went to assist the Princeling who had loaned him his sword, ducking forward to carve a bloody path through the breaking warriors. Once they started routing, he scanned and saw his sword, the rapier laying near where the Gladiator had lost his own swords, and grabbed it before running after the rest of the retreating group, knowing damn well he would have to give the silver sword back to the princeling once things had calmed down.

Once they found themselves well and truly clear of what was going on in the pass, Jerod looked over those present as the chatter began. The Elibean princeling wanted to go try and talk his parents out of declaring war on the Dwarves, the Askr royalty intended to head home and try to prevent war declarations from their country, several others wanted to try and track down the root cause of this, and the Merchant was going to, unsurprisingly, profit off the war. While his business sense told him to go with Anna, and as much as he hated to admit it, he had business in Elibe. His family would be getting involved, and the last thing he really needed was to cross paths with them out in the world as it tore itself apart in war, oh no, if he was going to find himself dealing with them again, it would be on his terms. First though, he returned the silver sword to the Askr prince who had loaned it to him. "Thanks for the loaner, even if you would be better served carrying two shields and just fighting with those."

A joke, but with that Jerod turned and approached the Elibean Prince Jarde, arms resting on his hips as he spoke to him plainly. "If your going back to Elibe to convince them not to go to war, you'll need help that knows how that place works. I've got...some people that owe me money in Elibe, so I can cut you a discount on my sword arm this time. Folks owing me money and dying before paying is bad for business, after all. Believe it or not, I'm familiar enough with how the royalty acts in Elibe I can lend a hand there, all part of the services I offer in this case." Not like he would be getting any Dwarven coin at this point, he silently lamented, but he presented his case to the Prince, and hoped that he wouldn't be recognized as a Staudinger, not yet. Burn that bridge later, the fewer prying ears that can leak that information back home, the better.

Rionach

The sudden interjection of a fellow lancer turned the entire situation on its head. With both enemies' focuses diverted due to Jarde's arrival, Rionach enjoyed the opportunity to maneuver herself away from the cliff wall. With the dangerous prospect of a two-on-one erased, Rionach could re-engage the fight with complete confidence. Though she could not afford to take her eyes off her foes' blades for any longer than a split second, the brief glance she managed to get at her rescuer confirmed that he, too, seemed to be a blue blood. That's some luck! As long as we survive, of course. Jarde's status didn't go unnoticed by the sword-wielding soldiers, either. They stood at the ready, far enough apart so as to be able to prevent any attempt to surround them. Rionach kept still, spearpoint forward, as the prince interjected an idle comment into the midst of battle. Confident enough to be chatty, huh? She didn't know whether that was a good or a bad thing. Either way, this shouldn't be too difficult. “Yes, sir!”

Without further ado, she lunged forward, and Jarde feinted a thrust before bringing his lance around in a heavy sweep. Rionach's spear sped in before the swordsman could reorient his shield, and a painful jab to the upper thigh came before the shield could repel it. With an iron grip the spearwoman pulled her weapon back, returning it to neutral position to ward off a counterattack. Meanwhile, Jarde's sweep knocked his adversary's sword aside, leaving his shield out alone. A followup bash with the butt of his lance to the side of that shield sent the swordsman spinning a half-turn sideways, and from there a kick to the torso opened the way for a finishing blow to the ribcage. By that time, Rionach was already breathing heavily, having to avoid and block a number of slashes from her enemy, each carefully calculated to not overswing and leave an opening. Desperate for a way in, Rionach changed her stance to hold her spear with both hands above her head, the point at a downward angle, and she made a jab at the foot. Anxious to avoid another potentially lethal hit, the swordsman flinched, then -realizing his mistake- threw caution to the wind for an overpowering charge.

Not expecting such a bold move, all Rionach could do was hold her spearhaft horizontally to catch an overhead strike that might have otherwise split her collarbone to navel. The swordsman did relent, and bulled forward with superior weight and strength. Rionach stumbled backward, all her focus and energy expended on just remaining standing, until a final shove sent her sprawling. Out of sheer luck, the butt of her spear stuck on the ground, propping her up for a split second. Before her relatively-untrained mind could race to think of a way to capitalize on the situation, however, the swordsman was upon her. A thrust would have killed her then and there, but her foe -his enthusiasm perhaps overpowering his reason- went with a wild horizontal slash. At the last moment Rionach managed to hold up her forearm, and the blade caught equal parts pauldron and sleeve, stopping in its tracks. The force rattled Rionach's bones, and a blossom of pain shot up her arm, but all she could see was the shield edge rising up to careen toward her face. Before it could, a lance point sprouted from the swordsman's sternum, and with a gasp of agony he slumped sideways.

Jarde pulled his weapon free and held out a hand. With a nervous, numbed laugh, Rionach accepted it and was pulled to her feet. Around them, the battle seemed to have ended for the time being—furious but brief. The Archaneans seemed to be on their way out, their leader presumably dead, while a look at the Varjans confirmed the same. “Whoa. Guess this group's got some real talent.” Embarrassed at forgetting herself, she glanced back at Jarde. As far as she was concerned, he might have as well had a halo above his head. “Er, thank you, sir! You saved my life. I am forever in your debt.” Still jarred, she performed a bow as best she could. To have a royal scion intercede on a mere peasants behalf...she was astounded that any prince would stoop to such a level. It was a footsoldier's job to be expendable, after all, whether or not she actually was one. Everything she'd ever heard about royals indicated that the idea of risking one's neck for the life of a commoner was ludicrous, yet here he was. Still smiling like an idiot, she ran her fingers through her hair, staring at the ground.

A yell rang out the next second, belonging to Anna. Startled back out of her thoughts, Rionach packed up her spear and ran in her direction.

Everything was a dark blur until the misfit platoon came to a stop in a forest, congregating around a stream. The water could have been flowing a little faster for the sake of safety, but thirsty soldiers seldom thought of viruses and parasites. As they alleviated their thirst, the big names spoke one after another, and Rionach listened carefully. For the most part, she snuck glances in wonderment at Ferrian—only once before had she ever seen a Manakete, and even that was from a distance. Fighting alongside one added another point to the list of unforgettable experiences she'd gotten in a single evening. It would have been easier to believe this whole thing was a dream. When Rionach held out a hand, she saw that it was still shaking from the shock of almost dying. Closing her eyes for a moment, the spearwoman took one steady breath after another.

When the question came up of dispersal, Rionach knew she wanted nothing more than to run away from this conflict, and find somewhere safe to live and work until things felt normal again. Then again...wasn't this the opportunity of a lifetime? Her eyes settled on Jarde. Agenda or not, she owed him her life. Fear and doubt whirled about in her mind, but Rionach picked up her spear and approached him before kneeling, head bowed. “Uh...pardon me, sir. I d-dare not presume, but if it please my Prince, I would swear myself to your service to try and repay you for saving me.” The butterflies in her stomach formed a whirling tumult, though Rionach couldn't tell why. This was hardly the first time she attempted to ally herself to someone of note. Was it the lingering shock of battle? It had to be.

On The Road To Elibe

~@Lugubrious, @Eisenhorn~

Morning had come and the night of Dragonrage Pass seemed like a faraway memory. The group in the forest went their separate ways and Jarde and those who went him began their long trip back to Elibe. In this party were Prince Jarde himself, his two female retainers who have yet to introduce themselves, the Mercenary Lord Jerod Staudinger and the Soldier Rionach.

"Hey, you two." Jarde called Jerod's and Rionach's attention. "We've actually been together for a while now but I've yet to learn your names." He told them, an indirect request for an introduction. "I'm not sure if you already knew but I'm Jarde. Jarde Devaron. Err, Crown Prince of Elibe." The Elibean prince formally introduced himself. "Oh and ah, these are my frie-- retainers. Merilia and Keerin."

The aqua-haired girl bowed. "I am Keerin. A Sage in Prince Jarde's service." She introduced herself. "I look forward in working together with you." She continued. Her tone was cold but polite as well and her face betrayed no expression.

"And I'm Merilia. A Hero and also in Prince Jarde's service." The woman in the red armor introduced herself. She was louder than Keerin but maintained formality. "And you guys better not try anything funny with Prince Jarde." She then immediately warned Jerod and Rionach although she looked at the latter more intensely.

"Come now, Merilia..."

On The Road To Archanea

~@Zaphander, @Polaris North (LNA)~

Morning had come and the night of Dragonrage Pass seemed like a faraway memory. The group in the forest went their separate ways with Emma and Shade heading to Archanea along with everyone who went with them. The party composed of the Pegasus Knight Emma, the Dark Mage Shade, the Dancer Danica and the Hero Luna.

"Hey, we've been together now for a while so I think it's pretty weird that we don't exactly know each other." Emma began, riding atop her pegasus. "Alright, I'll start. I'm Emma. A Pegasus Knight from a faraway land. Me and Shade have come here for adventure!" She cheerfully introduced herself. "Solving a mystery to prevent a huge war wasn't what I had in mind for an adventure though."

"Just goes to show that what you're looking for and what you find won't always be the same." The dark mage woman was the next to speak. "Well anyway, I'm Shade. A Dark Mage also from the same place where Emma came from. Sort of." Shade introduced herself. "And also in for the adventure, I suppose. Though, I generally just like the traveling part."

On The Road To Somewhere

~@Polaris North (FRN)~

Morning had come and the night of Dragonrage Pass seemed like a faraway memory. The group in the forest went their separate ways with Anna and Jake setting off along with anyone who joined them which was only one person, Ferrian. Thus, the party was made up of only the merchant Anna, the Sniper Jake and the Ferrian the Manakete.

"Say, weren't you the Manakete from the battle last night?" Anna inquired about you. "Honestly, I didn't expect a Manakete to be present in that meeting. What were you doing there? Were you a part of that meeting? I heard there was a special person who was going attend." She explained.

"Well anyway, I'm glad you were on our side. I'm not sure how we could have fared if you were attacking us while we were trying to escape." Anna continued. "Oh by the way, I'm Anna. A traveling merchant. And this here's Jake."

"What's up?" Jake waved at you.

Ferrian

True to her word, they didn't seem to have a definite location yet when Anna and Jake split up with the others. Despite this, Ferrian lagged behind the two as they continued their travel, seemingly unbothered by their lack of planning. It's not like he could have done any better, so there was no use in complaining. His short rest when night had come was usually disturbed by distant noises - ones he picked up more often than the others - causing him to awaken suddenly. He spent the entire night drifting in and out of it, and it honestly irked him. All he wanted was a peaceful night, but the creatures of the forest just won't let him.

This resulted to the white haired Manekete being largely silent during the trip. He was observing the red haired merchant though. No matter how he looked at it, she was eerily similar - no, an exact copy of his merchant acquaintance from back in the war. He still didn't know how to feel about it as every time she spoke, she would be the one he's thinking about. He knew that it was impossible that they were the same person. Unless Anna was a Manakete herself, which was obviously not the case considering her general appearance, there was no way she could live that long. It has been centuries since that war, and she hasn't aged a bit.

He was snapped out of his thoughts when Anna started to speak, asking about why he was there and if he was involved in the meeting. Ferrian allowed her to speak all her questions before responding, "Indeed, I am the Manakete from the battle." He then paused before continuing. "No, I am not that 'special person'. I was merely stopping over for a quick nap before continuing in my travels."

Then they introduced themselves. He nodded. "I know you." He pointed at Anna. "But not you." He then pointed at Jake. It was better to hear whether what he thought was true or not from the person who knew the truth. "What I don't understand is how you're still alive after all these centuries, unless you just happened to look like, sound like and have the same name as the merchant from the war." He then shook his head lightly. "Nevertheless, my name is Ferrian. Pleasure."
General Luna

Luna seemed to have her head in the clouds as she followed the group with her hand atop the hilt of her sword. She had cleaned her weaponry for the better portion of the night - the blood of Archaneans staining it. She couldn't sleep well that night. Understandable considering the fact that she just turned her blade to soldiers she used to fight with before. She didn't know them all by name, but she knew them all by face. She was sure that nightmares would plague her nights for at the very least a week. Even just mere wars between soldiers shook her core, especially when she doesn't know what she's fighting for, so this really hit home for her.

She looked at Emma as she began speaking. Emma and Shade. At least she now knew the latter's name, which she didn't quite catch earlier. She was such an energetic Pegasus Knight that merely seeing her brought a smile to Luna's face. She then turned to Shade as she continued the introduction. Luna remembered that she had introduced herself to them before they all went to sleep, but she figured that the events must have left everything hazy. She could say the same - as everything that she could remember during the Battle at Dragonrage Pass was the dying faces of those that she killed. Certainly not something you want to remember.

Luna placed a hand over her chest as she introduced herself, "My name is Luna, a General from Archanea sent jut in case of a fight. Needless to say, I haven't done my job properly, regrettably." Though she spoke in the same tone throughout the whole introduction, her voice seemed to falter during the end. She abandoned her post to save nobles from another land - none of which were from Archanea - and also fought for the opposite side of her soldiers. She wondered how this would all translate to when the news spread to her homeland. "I hope you do not change your way of treating me to befit my position." She said with a light chuckle as if to rebound her rather saddening introduction to something more lighthearted.
