Additional details Morrigan stands at a towering six foot even. After being part of the track team back in high school he kept up with his daily fitness routine giving him a limber and lean look to his body. His dark tresses are stylishly kept tousled and cut to frame his angular face while hiding a thin scar that goes through his right eyebrow and back towards his temple. He also has his sister's childhood nickname, 'Moog', tattooed on his left wrist.
He prefers darker jackets and mute colors such as grey and black when it comes to attire.
Age Twenty
Gender Male
Personality There’s warmth despite the fact his body holds no heat. A certain sad joy that could be seen etched in the corners of his eyes. Morrigan wasn’t the brooding type—not by nature at least. His humor bubbled to the surface with ease; a peculiar method of coping he would claim if pressed. His need for social ties seems deeply rooted in his past human life, for when left to his own devices Morrgian's mood dampens and a sense of restlessness settles in.
Dying is an art.
One humankind is adept at. It is pain and peace all swirled into one. And while Morrigan stood on the threshold between life and death his boiling mind could only form one coherent thought, Did it matter?
In his human years he never found the deep seated hatred that most humans carried for vampires. Did he trust them? No. But it was more like he had accepted their existence just like they had accepted his. But there was fatal curiosity he felt towards them and a deep desire to improve things between humans and vampires.
When the ritual came on his birthday there was a small mixed feeling of disappointment and relief when the stone stayed dull in his hand. For his older sister it had apparently lit up brightly. An adept mage at the ready to help keep the peace between the two. And while some families rejoiced in a better life for their child, Morrigan mourned for the loss of his only sibling.
He went on in that manner in life. Both curious and cautious, until he happened upon an accident on his way home. Rouge vampires driven by blood lust were few and far between these days. The pairing system worked well to sate their need for blood. But there were still reports in the news—fear mongering, he had thought.
But the creature that dripped blood before him was not that of the ones whispered in fairy tales. There a young bleeding mage frantically whispered incantations while pressed limply against the street light. While his vampiric partner engaged in a struggle against the towering foe.
He was losing.
Morrigan could see it, the frenzied vampire was older, stronger. And to this day he wasn’t sure why he stepped in. His thoughts a mess from the conversion. Only the sting of pain as something sliced through him and the watery voices that faded in and out for what felt like years.
Turning wasn’t something one could easily describe. It was like feeling your body fill with molten lead, liquefying and scorching before your brain shut down and brought with it blissful numbness. And awaking was a new world of its own. The peaceful cold of a life long gone but a corpse still animated. Now he finds himself caught between the scornful eyes of the pure ones and the distrust of the humans he once belonged too.
Sexual orientation Pansexual
Likes Star gazing, reading, listening to people talk, laughter, and music.
Dislikes Conflict, not being able to watch the sun rise, being left alone, and rudeness.
Habits Morrigan still falls prey to his old human habits. Small things like grabbing a cup to make coffee. Or holding his breath when going over a bridge. He also seems to have developed a need to touch objects from time to time—a method to help cope with his new reality.
@HecateProxy Your character is perfect the way it is! Though about your sibling, are you interested in having her be in the story at all? How much older that you is your sibling? Did you want to see her at the Academy?
@Achronum There's a good ten years between them. I actually was going to have him poke around to see if he could gather information from the teachers or older vampires about what happened to her. Most likely have her dead just to kinda push that little thin line of peace they got going on.
@Leslie Hall Sorry for the late reply. I'm totally fine with overlap if you have your heart set on metal. Honestly the hair thing seems totally different from what I was going for anyway.
Standing at about 5’9” and weighing in about 170 lbs, Amaris is built on a rather slender frame. Her large, violet eyes and softened facial features are framed by pitch black locks that normally tumble down to her waist. When straightened her hair can even reach to the back of her thighs, however she doesn’t usually bother putting in the effort.
Her clothing preferences range from dresses with hi-low skirts to skinny jeans with crop tops… and on occasion you might find her wearing lensless frames for aesthetic purposes. However, when visiting other noble families she has been known to dress more conservatively in more dated apparel.
Name: Amaris “Ari” Marivaldi
Age: 95
Gender: Female
Personality: Having been birthed into one of the noble families, Amaris learned from an early age to read situations and behave accordingly. Because of this, her personal and public personas can sometimes make it seem like she is two very different people.
When in the public eye she takes on a more studious visage, carrying herself with grace and her head held high. She can maintain a cool and collected appearance, speaking evenly and often times more formal than necessary. Having completely adored her father, she strives to represent the very best of the family name and is careful to avoid anything that would publicly shame her or her lineage.
Privately, however, Amaris is full of energy and life. Her innate curiosity can be so intense at times that it is often joked she could be the daughter of the new Lord Salazar and his wife. When excited she can speak a mile a minute and will often divulge onto tangents when speaking about something she holds passion for.
Despite the opposing personas, there are some things that never change about her. Amaris was raised with the ideal that vampires and mages were close to equals and thus should be treated with the care and respect that they deserved. While outwardly she is forced to acknowledge them only as servants, Amaris dreams of finding the kind of romance her mother and father spoke about behind closed doors. Her kindness, however, is not limited to those within her house or her species. Even the lowest of humans, by society’s standards, will find no ill will from the young vampire… that is unless provoked.
While Amaris prefers to avoid violence whenever possible, she is not above proving a point with physical action if pushed far enough. With such an abundance of kindness also comes an overprotectiveness of those she considers close, and for a Marivaldi... that is no long list.
Biography: Amaris, or Ari for short, was born into one of the five noble vampire families known as the Marivaldi. Her father was the late Lord Ralmevik, whose ‘recent’ passing took many by surprise both outside and within, and her mother was a beautiful mage who died when Ari was still quite young.
Despite status, Lord Ralmevik had been careful to keep his daughter out of the spotlight and politics that came with being a noble. As she grew older she would learn and integrate, but as a child she was allowed the freedom of carelessness and imagination. Because of this, her love and interest for magical theory blossomed and grew. She showed particular interest in casting incantations and the languages of old that were used to study and manipulate spells. Seeing this, her father promoted her interests by teaching about the many world languages; some common and others long since forgotten by the general public.
She adored her father, following him around wherever he went and imitating many of his mannerisms. It was no secret how much she loved the man, nor how much his sudden passing hurt her. It took her near a decade to come to terms with the loss and to re-enter the public eye, though now labeled the adopted daughter of the new Lord Salazar. There were many rumors surrounding the demise of the late lord, many of which were brushed off due to the secretive nature of the Marivaldi family. Still, even those within were left without answers and tensions were high as Salazar took over the reign of the family.
For the first 20 years after her father’s passing, Amaris rejected Salazar and treated him as if he were an outsider despite his apparent loyalty to the family. She locked herself away in her father’s study for the first 10 years, pouring over old handwritten journals and letters. Once the initial shock and grief had passed, she returned to her daily routine and maintained appearances, but it was clear that there was a fair amount of distance between her and Salazar; a distance that would last for another decade at least.
Eventually Amaris began to accept Salazar and his family, including his wife Alyssa and their son Romero. While she was not of their immediate blood, they treated her as family and she did the same. It was never a connection as close as she had with her own father, but embracing them was the Marivaldi way… Amaris would not fail her father, even in his absence.
In more recent years, Amaris has made a push to attend Noila Academy, though her reasons she has kept to herself.
5’7” and only 165 lbs, Dakota maintains a slim but toned figure. Their light brown eyes are speckled with gold which give them the appearance of having sunlight trapped within the irises, and their hair is a silky shade of auburn that sits just below shoulder length.
While biologically a female, Dakota does not feel the term fits completely. Often times they will tie their hair back in a messy updo and will even go so far as to bind their chest if feeling particularly masculine on a given day. Primarily they will dress in male-traditional clothing, or purposely choose gender-ambiguous clothes… however, once in a very rare while, Dakota can be seen wearing a sundress (the only type they’ll wear).
Personality: Dakota has, what can only be considered, a loud personality. Just shy of complete fearlessness, there is very little that can stop them once their mind has been made up. Always excited to try something new, Kota does not mind messing up and views their mistakes as learning experiences rather than failures. First to jump in, Kota is definitely the ‘all or nothing’ kind of person.
This boundless energy has a habit of causing trouble, however. Often times, Dakota does not realize that they have reached a limit (their own or otherwise), and will continue to push. This will lead to physical exhaustion, injury, or even the provoking of others. With a spunky mouth to match, Dakota has seen their fair share of fist fights and squabbles.
Still, not one to back down from a challenge, Dakota doesn’t let things bother them for long. If something is broken they’ll try to fix it, and if that’s not possible, they’ll find it new purpose. Ever looking forward, Kota operates with one motto in mind: Life is an adventure; it’s time to start living.
Biography: The eldest child of a non-magic couple, Dakota is ringleader to two younger siblings Skylar and Jacob. With an eight year difference between Dakota and the twins, Kota has taken it upon themselves to care for and educate on the art of mischief… much to their parents’ collective dismay.
Assigned female at birth, Dakota had been a tomboy from the start, always getting into trouble and coming home covered in dirt. While they had shown some interest in stitching and sewing, their primary interests had always aligned more with electronics and how they functioned. Dakota was known to take apart toy cars to see how they worked only to put them back together again. Eventually they began stitching together pieces from other toys in order to create something new which, more often than not, failed to work.
It wasn’t until Dakota hit high school that the self-discovery was made that they were gender-fluid, going through periods of swapping pronouns before settling on gender neutral terms. The two and a half year period was not without its struggles, but by the end of it all, Dakota came out stronger and just as confident as they had always been.
Just shortly after turning 18, Dakota was put through the mandatory Awakening Ritual, though coming from a family of non-mages… not much was expected at the time. Much to everyone’s surprise, especially Dakota’s, the ritual concluded that they did indeed have magical potential. While the mages performing the ritual were unable to accurately discern the elemental affinity from the color of the crystal, it was made clear that Dakota would be a mage.
After two years of preparations, Dakota is finally moving away to join the prestigious Noila Academy, leaving both her friends and family behind.
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Likes: Electronics, Music, Puzzles, Sweets
Dislikes: Bullies, Silence, Cold Environments, Anything Sour, Sitting Still
Habits: If forced to sit still too long, Kota will begin tapping or making clicking noises.
Will drink hot chocolate (preferably Salted Caramel) during any weather.
Has been known to run off into tangents mid-sentence or forget what they were talking about.
Such an element has yet to be catalogue so yes, you could exist in the world without the vampires making you vanish but you would be very closely watched. The second anyone thought you may have the capacity to control a vampire, you'd be gone.
Appearance: Standing at a little over 5'11" (though he'll snap at you if you claim he's any less than 6 feet) and weighing in at about 140 pounds, Max has a lean, but not quite physically ideal, build. His face still looks relatively boyish for his age, accentuated by the implied immaturity of his persistently messy ash brown hair. His eyes might've once been a lively and piercing blue, but now they're subdued by the empty blankness of his stare; as if passion had been drained out of him entirely aside from the occasional glint of anger or sadness. He typically adorns his attire with some form of metal, if not outright armor, due to the nature of his magical affinity, and favors catalysts or casting implements that that cling to his person without fear of being disarmed or stolen in a fight.
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Element: Metal
Personality: In a word: bitter. Bitter at vampires for forcing him into what he sees as slavery. Bitter at humanity for allowing themselves to be collectively held hostage in order to control mages. Bitter at other mages for not rising up against their vampiric masters in spite of the cost. He maintains an air of cool politeness when decorum demands such, but can be quite irritable otherwise and rarely hesitates to take verbal jabs at others. When regarding vampires, his demeanor ranges from guarded, but amiable, to as outright hostile as he can feasibly act in such a scenario; depending on the attitude of the vampire in question. In general, however, he's rather sullen and resigned to his fate; any outrage he may have once felt is now dulled a quiet seething. As such, his bark is generally worse than his bite, and though he may complain, he's still willing to play the role of obediant vampire slave for lack of another option. Ironically enough, his detest for weakness pushes him to excel in that role as much as possible, despite it benefitting his oppressors.
Bio: Max grew up an only child within the territory of a highly traditionalist vampire noble, and as such spent his childhood in fear of being drunk like a juice pouch in the night. He'd witnessed the brutal exsanguination of people in his hometown written off as an unfortunate accident many times throughout his life, with the ruling count and his vassals rarely facing any sort of formal punishment for their sport hunting. In his hotheaded teenage years, once he was old enough to understand what was happening, Max was utterly appalled by the state of society and frequently argued with his parents' assertions of "That's just the way things are". Gradually, he grew to resent what he perceived as their weakness for not taking a stand; an animosity that eventually extended to almost the entire human race. Upon his Awakening, he was elated; magic was a power that could oppose and even kill vampires. Naturally, this delusion of grandeur was ended quickly by the reality of being a mage - a glorified piece of cattle for some upstart vampire to order around and drink from. Recently, he set his sights on Noila Academy in pursuit of magical instruction, believing that the accumulation of power is paramount if he's to cling to any hope of having freedom.
Sexual Orientation: Homosexual
Likes: Long walks in the sunlight (if only out of spite), Advancing his magical abilities, Bluntness, Defiance of authority, Sleeping
Dislikes: Weakness in himself or others, Vampires (as a whole - his opinions on individuals are subject to case-by-case decisions), Overly-fake people, Restrictions on his actions
Habits:
Has a tendency to be rude whenever he can get away with it (and when he can't, albeit the rudeness is usually veiled a bit in those cases), even to people that would generally be undeserving of such an attitude.
Generally punctual and attentive, despite a feigned dismissive demeanor.
Avoids eye contact with vampires on principle, out of fear of hypnotism rather than submission or awkwardness.

Portrait of Aaron in ceremonial dress, a tradition of the Starag family. Painted soon after his Awakening, when he was eighteen.
Aaron stands around six feet tall, with a lean athletic build. Shown in his portrait in ceremonial dress, Aaron normally dresses more modern, insisting to keep himself looking presentable. Clean-shaven, hair neatly styled, stuff like that. Long-sleeved dress shirts, slacks and khakis make up his everyday wardrobe, always clean and nicely pressed. On cooler days, a blazer or peacoat is usually never far behind.
| Personality | Aaron was raised very disciplined, and that is reflected in his personality. He keeps to his routine, maintains good self-control and is very well organized. However, that doesn't mean he has the attitude of an army officer. Quite the contrary, in fact. He is a vibrant young man who loves life, but also loves work. A very purpose-driven guy, he will never start a project he doesn't intend to finish, and is extremely goal-oriented (the goal, of course, being to be the best attendant he possibly can and uphold his family's legacy). As a result he is always trying to better himself, be it in academics, art, or any other discipline. To some, especially other mages or humans, his dogged persistence and desire to be, essentially, the best slave he can be, can be a little odd or even off-putting. For him, though, his work is a matter of pride.
He is a perfect gentleman, well-spoken, and well-versed in etiquette (admittedly, to a point where those who weren't raised to be servants to royalty might find him to be a bit much). Friendly and dignified, he maintains composure in public, disliking overly emotional behavior. Luckily, he's not quite uptight to the point of awkwardness.
Aaron holds himself to impossibly high standards and as such, can sometimes push himself a little too hard. He becomes annoyed with himself in failure, but tries to use failure as a motivator. Being devoted as he is to being a good attendant, he is at risk of betraying his principles on the command of his master. Hopefully, though, it won't come to that.

The Starag family name was made famous during the Blood Wars when Larand Starag made a name for himself as arguably the most powerful mage on the human side, as well as the most tenacious. He took to his magic more easily than most, ever so slightly shifting the power balance in each battle he fought. Fighting off the vampires and freeing the human race was his singular goal; he led mage forces against them time and time again, wielding fire at the head of each encounter, and even accrued the most vampire kills on the human side. He was strong-willed and well-respected, and even in the face of certain defeat, would not surrender.
His resolve didn't falter when the werewolves attacked. Even in the face of sure destruction, he was the last to be swayed in favour of the Blood Treaty. Fortunately, his desire to save humankind won out over his hatred of vampires and he did finally sign the Treaty as the co-signatory to Queen Anastasia Noila herself. After the combined armies of the humans and vampires fought off the werewolf invaders and a shaky peace was finally established, Queen Noila took Larand as her personal mage and, to set an example, declared that from that day on the Noila family would take only Starag mages as their servants. Outwardly, Larand accepted his place under Queen Anastasia's thumb and performed well as her mage servant until he eventually died of old age.
Ever since, as Queen Anastasia declared, the Noila vampires have only taken Starag mages as their servants. As a result, the Starag family came to be held in high regard by House Noila and the Moonlight Council for their history of dedicated service. In return, the Starags have developed an affection for the Noila line and vampires in general, having reaped benefits from their service most mages are not so fortunate to recieve. As such, the Starags have changed from begrudging servants submitting for the greater good to enthusiastic attendants who consider their position to be a noble one and take it as a source of pride, telling themselves and their offspring that through their work they are participating in the system that emancipated mankind from tyrannical rule.
To this day the Starags are some of the best trained and highest regarded mages in the Treaty. However, this will be the first year a Starag will attend Noila Academy, having traditionally been privately tutored.
Born to a mage family well-respected by the Council, Aaron's pedigree is long and impressive. Directly descended from Larand Starag himself (albeit many, many generations on) he has big shoes to fill and a sparkling reputation to uphold; as such, it comes as no surprise that he had a very structured and disciplined upbringing. Indeed, Aaron has been held to a high standard all his life, his entire childhood having been spent learning everything from etiquette to swordsmanship. He was taught academics and etiquette alike from private tutors, and has been kept on a strict diet and exercise regimen since he first became a teenager. You see, in the Starag family, the best thing you can become is an attendant to a vampire, and they take their assignment to the royal family very seriously. Therefore, their children are taught from a young age anything and everything that could be of use to make them the best attendants out there; how to conduct themselves in a vampiric court, how to keep themselves fit and healthy (i.e. in good feeding condition) and everything they might need to keep their future masters happy, from organizational skills to keep their master's appointments to martial training should they have to defend them.
Aaron was no exception. In fact, he was a glowing example of a Starag child on his way to great accomplishment as an attendant. Only one thing stood to impede him: whether or not he was actually a mage. One of the things Aaron remembers best from his childhood was a combination of anxiety and desperate hope that he would have magic and be accepted, as his ancestors were, into the ranks of mage attendants. Most of the Starag descendants before him had been mages, with the few who had not having left His Awakening day was the most exciting, terrifying, and highly-anticipated one of his life; he remembers practically shaking as he held his crystal in a white-knuckled grip, eyes tight shut, hoping with all of his might that the damn thing would light up. To his considerable joy and great relief, the crystal glowed brightly, emitting sharp rays of golden light all throughout the chamber.
In the two years since his Awakening, Aaron has been training harder than ever under the watchful eye of his tutors, knowing any day could be the day he was finally chosen to take his place at a Noila vampire's side. However, only a few weeks ago, he was informed that, against tradition, he would be attending Noila Academy instead of completing his studies under a tutor - at the command of Princess Ryner herself, the vampire whom his father and other relatives served - and, consequently, end up possibly being assigned to a vampire outside of the Noila family. As of now, he will be the first Starag mage to ever attend the academy.

| Other | Aaron keeps extremely good care of himself, partly because it's good for him both physically and mentally, and partly to make himself the best protector and most satisfying feed possible for his future master.
He was raised nocturnal in anticipation of his service to a vampire, so he'll have no trouble adjusting to life with a vampire.
He uses full-spectrum lighting to prevent vitamin D deficiency and seasonal affective disorder.
Aaron also keeps a diary and a detailed log of his health and habits. He uses a smartwatch to track his steps and activity.
Aaron wears a ring on his right middle finger made from the crystal that was used in his Awakening as a tool to help channel his magic. When he uses it, it glows bright yellow. When it's not being used, it appears amber. He also wears a longsword on his hip, for ceremonial reasons as well as for caution; it acts both as a regular sword and another object through which to channel his magic.
Bah. I kept the backstory vague as the idea I was originally going for is being used, so I haven't had a chance to fully explore a new one. But I didn't want to withhold posting a character any longer so.
Minfilia stands at 5'7", weighing 56 kg with a lithe, petite frame. Even by the standards of the immaculately perfect Vampires, Minfilia is what most would consider to be a conventional beauty. Her face is diamond shaped, possessing a fair complexion with a beauty mark beneath her right eye. Her iris' are a striking azure, paired with thick lashes that delicately brush against rosy cheeks with the slightest flutter. Minfilia's most tantalizing feature is her smooth, silky locks of golden hair. Even when braided and tied up to keep it neat, her hair will still reach down below her waist. Her hair possesses an unnatural shimmer to it, a byproduct of the peculiar way her Magic has manifested. Regardless, most find Minfilia's gorgeous locks to be aesthetically pleasing.
Element
Steel Minfilia uses her hair as a conduit for her Magic. When she awoke to her abilities as a child, her hair grew rapidly and became hard as steel. Since having her powers sealed away, she has been unable to directly tap into her aspect. Yet even while sealed away, Minfilia's magic has affected her physical being while growing up. Her hair grows much faster than normal and possesses an unnatural glimmer to it. Now, with her powers reawakened, Minfilia is able to grow her hair a few extra feet at will and manipulate it to a very limited extent - though doing so has proved to be very draining for her.
Personality
Minfilia is a young lady who understands the importance of her role in society as a Mage. She is stern and by the book, preferring not to deal in nonsense. If there is a job worth doing, it's worth doing well. She is often seen as a little too serious for her age - but her meticulous work ethic and obedience is a quality highly sought after by Vampires seeking a Mage partner. Yet make no mistake, Minfilia's actions are self serving. She understands that everyone, even Vampires, are resources to be exploited. To attain power and influence, she must play their game. Minfilia isn't above stepping over people to elevate herself, and she certainly has no issue swallowing her pride and playing the part of a subservient puppet. Years of wearing a different face in order to manipulate others had led her to be quite talented at it. Coupled with her general secrecy and dislike of discussing personal affairs, most don't know Minfilia enough to assume she has an ulterior motive.
Minfilia has trouble opening up to people and trusting them. She does a good job of convincing others that she is perfectly fine on her own, but in truth she an often feel out of place and lonely. Anyone who she does let in is usually pushed away continuously when her anxiety begins to settle in. She's convinced herself that relationships are a luxury she simply can't afford.
Biography
Minfilia speaks very little of her background before her reawakening. Though there are some who know her by association. Her father leads the local law enforcement Mages in her home-town. Understanding the type of man he is - a stern, no nonsense soldier, really justifies the way Minfilia tends to act. Other than that, she mostly keeps her past to herself. She awakened to her magic early and subsequently had it sealed away until she was the required age.

Lilie Dionne
αρρҽαɾαɳƈҽ
Standing at about five feet five inches, Lilie is a rather average young girl. Many have described her as looking very much like a ghost; sporting pale skin and silvery white hair, one could hardly blame them. The only semblance of color she has are her brightly colored blue eyes. She is on the slender side of things, having a few curves though nothing to write home about. She tends to dress in pale colored clothes, adding to her ghost visage.

Lilie is a very gentle person with a kind and optimistic personality to match. She is interested in plants and the "language of flowers". She doesn't speak too often unless directly spoken to, choosing to think before speaking. Should tensions rise between people, she is never the breaker or starter and sits by watching, usually at a loss at what to do. She usually goes with the flow, preferring to keep her head down and stay out of trouble to the best of her ability.
When it comes to her fencing, it is the one place where Lilie feels she comes to life. Despite only having been in mock battles, something about fighting and combat exhilarates her. She somehow manages to keep herself calm and collected, looking only towards victory as she pushes herself to her limit, striving to improve and see what she's truly capable of. She wields her rapier with a gusto that completely contradicts the gentle demeanor she usually carries, a passion in her blazing forth.
Initially having a love-hate relationship with being a mage, over time she has come around to embrace it. She is somewhat eager to learn how to control it, finding the concept fascinating as she comes from a family that lacked the ability. While she is somewhat fearful of the idea of having to interact with vampires, she understands the exchange and is willing to go through with it in exchange for more knowledge.
Ⴆισɠɾαρԋყ
Lilie's life was rather mundane all things considered. She grew up with working parents and an older brother, her life uneventful for the most part. Her parents were lower class but she preferred it that way as they were usually left in peace. The most excitement she had were her fencing lessons, but even that was The very first hint towards her mage abilities came when she fell into a river as a child, finding that instead of drowning, she could actually breathe under water. After being rescued, she tried to make sense of it but was too afraid to tell her parents about it, but failing to duplicate the ability caused her to forget about it. The second incident was much more public and exposed her for better or worse. While no one was harmed, protocol needed to be followed and her magic was sealed until she would become of age. That was the moment she felt that her life had a purpose, although interacting with vampires for the first time had terrified her somewhat. Her admission to the Noila Academy came as a surprise, but she obediently followed instructions, hoping to get a better understanding of her abilities.
