Because the last game started with the World Martial Arts Tournament, a very cliche beginning to almost every Dragon Ball game hosted on here. I could tell my players were growing bored with the idea, and so I decided to start this game differently. The way a real DB game should start. We're going to have most of the same folks from the last game with their characters in this one, but the first Chapter/Saga will be more open world. Read below.
Meat and Potatoes
This is a role play based in the Dragon Ball Universe. There are certain aspects of the DBU that will be highly-manipulated for the sake of making this a workable RP idea. If while you are reading over this game, you decide that you are not interested, then please move on and do not cause any drama. This will be an original universe. All canon characters from the manga and series do not exist. In this DBU world, the story will revolve around what we make of it. This game will have elements of sandbox with a GM-led plot. It is highly-encouraged for players to interact and write together in order to make a nice story.
I do not plan for this game to move that fast. I expect the game to move leisurely. If you are expecting a rapid-fire game, then move along. Do not join this game because it will move in a patient manner not to exceed two weeks of inactivity. Players have 14 days to get in contact with the GM if they haven’t told the GM already about their absences. A player who hasn’t posted in 30 days will automatically be dropped from the game.
In this DBU game, as a GM, I am hoping to see some creative ideas within the limitations provided by my game. As with the DB franchise, the combat in this game will be important and players will be rewarded for participating in such scenarios. If your combat writing is poor, then you can expect it to get better in this game. While most of the combat encounters will be PVE, there will be opportunities for PVP. Players do not have to participate in PVP, but those who do will be rewarded. The PVP will not be PVP for the sake of PVP but will come around during specific plotlines in the story. I just gave you the run-down of the entire game and how it will go. If you’ve made it this far, continue on to learn more.
Setting
The planet is Fictional Earth (Dragon World), but this is an alternate universe of DBU. While all the events originally took place in Universe 7, our Universe is Parallel Universe 7 (reverse 7). In this universe, Planet Vegeta still exists and has not been blown to pieces. This universe is a clean plate, so whatever happens, happens and becomes a part of this universe’s history. Earth is modern-futuristic with its technology. Flying vehicles, robots, and compact-space technology exist; and space travel is possible though not common. Earth currently is very xenophobic and very few people who are sane or not in such a field of study believe that aliens exist or that there is even life in outerspace.
The continent in which this game exists is unnamed in the series, but for this game we’re going to call it “Kujira,” which is Japanese for “whale.” The map is oddly in the shape of a whale, and so therefore, that is the name. Below is a map created by a DeviantArt artist, and it will be the map used in this game. All canon references can be ignored. However, use this for reference for your character’s origin story.
Races
Below I am listing only the major races allowed in this game. If you do not see a certain race in this game, then it is not permitted. OC races are not allowed in this game.
Earthlings
Humans: Humans are the dominant race in Kujira. Unlike how they are depicted in the DB franchise, in this game, humans stand as much of a chance as Saiyans. However, what separates a superhuman from an average human in this world is their martial arts. Martial artists possess a higher level of ki and have the discipline to transcend to a much stronger level. Other sub-races included in the human category are: magi, cyborgs, mutants, and bio-engineered humans. These sub-races may have unique qualities such as weapon programs, supernatural abilities, and magic.
Magi only grow stronger by learning new spells. Magi are incapable of sensing/using ki. Instead, magi are capable of sensing magic and paranormal occurrences caused by another magi tampering with magic.
Cyborgs only grow stronger by acquiring weapon upgrades, which they can only acquire from a scientist or engineer, thus making them dependent on such a character existing in game. They are not able to use ki. They cannot sense ki naturally and instead will have to acquire the ability by a special program.
Mutants are limited by their mutation. The ability their mutation granted them is the only ability that will grow stronger. Mutants are not martial artists. They focus on developing their mutant ability. They cannot sense ki, but they can sense other mutants.
Bio-Engineered Humans these are humans who were either artificially created through genetic engineering or had genetic engineering performed on their bodies. These humans are naturally above average and are created/designed for a purpose. They are often seen bound to a government agency. Similar to Cyborgs, these humans can only advance in strength by undergoing experimentation. Therefore, their creator must be a character in the game.
Clarification: The sub-race of Human are an option. Players can play normal humans, but if you want your normal human to stand a chance in this game, then he or she must know a martial art. The martial art can be completely made-up or inspired by an actual martial art. If you are planning to make a hybrid style of multiple martial arts, instead of listing the martial art styles, just make an original martial art. Spare us.
Beastmen: Beastmen are animals except for insects and mythical animals. Dinosaurs exist on Kujira just as normal animals exist. The Beastmen are a race who are anthropomorphic mammals and reptiles, and can be dinomen as well. The Dragon class or any mythical species does not naturally exist on Earth, and instead, is treated as a foreign species. It can also be treated as a summoned creature by a Magi. I am willing to twist some things for those who wish to have a dragon Beastman or some other mythic Beastmen—however, there will be a very hard limit on these types. Like humans, there can be cyborg, mutant, and bio-engineered beastmen. Beastmen possess the qualities of the animal whose appearance they mimic, which makes them naturally above the average human. For a normal beastman (non-subrace Beastman) to be above the average beastman, the beastman would have to be a martial artist.
Androids: Androids are a common sight mostly around populated cities. They perform several services such as cleaning, building, travel guide, interpreter, etc. They are even programmed to serve defense purposes such as assisting police officers in stopping crime or the military in combating terrorists. The artificial intelligence (A.I.) of an android can be as advanced as they are capable of human-like emotion or as simplistic as basic computation. The human or beastman types are very rare for they require tons of money and resources to create. These machines are rarely seen and if they do exist, very few people can tell them apart from anyone else. Androids can function without a creator, however, if they wish to advance in power, then they need an engineer who will grant them such enhancements.
Aliens
Not all alien races are listed here. Why? Because they are not permitted in this game. If you don’t like that, then do not join. This does not mean you won't see these alien races in the game, it just means they are not playable.
Saiyans: Just a warning, if this game receives too many Saiyans, then I will limit the race. The only sub-race I’ll allow of the Saiyan race is a Half-Saiyan/Half-Human. If you do plan to make a Half-Saiyan/Half-Human, then I expect an explanation to be in your character’s origin story seeing as Planet Vegeta exists and the Saiyans are a conqueror race. If you plan to play a Saiyan period, then there better be a valid explanation for why they are on Earth, how did they get here, and what is their goal? [Race Reference: Saiyans]
Namekians: All the Namekians resemble males, and they reproduce asexually. I am not going to write a race description for them. You can read about them here. [Race Reference: Namekian]
This is a summary of the first saga of the game. Players can sandbox and will be able to see this plot gradually unfold as they play.
GM Plot Type:PvE (PVP is optional between players who agree to it) The peace of the planet Earth is abruptly disrupted by the arrival of an alien ship. The ship lands like a meteor, putting a crater in Parsely City the size of a city block. Skyscrapers crumble, people run in panic and terror, and news reporters rush to the scene. Were they attacked? Was it a terrorist bombing? Rising from the crater to the citizens awe is a green man who offers no introduction as the people silently gaze on. He instead scans the beings around him, his hand resting on a strange orange glass visor that crosses both of his eyes. Once he lowers his hand, he hold it out before the people, and in a flash of white light, Parsely City is no more than a swirling gargantuan dome of white-hot energy. In an instant, the city and all of its people were gone, and the invader nowhere to be seen. Left behind is only his empty ship and the crater it made.
The Story: Your character might have seen the incident on television just before the screen went blank or felt the sudden skyrocket of ki. There is an alien menace on Earth named Dyce, and he is seeking out Earth’s strongest fighters in order to quickly obliterate them in preparation for his race’s invasion. His race is known as the Zandols. An alien species of warriors who seek out weakness and destroy it. Only the strong deserve to exist, and so the planet is purged, conquered, used, and destroyed after they’re done. Other alien races have compared the Zandols to weeds, how they take over a nice garden, and destroy its beauty. They populate in a hydra process. All it takes is one Zandol to conquer a planet for if any part of him is split into pieces, then those pieces will grow into a new warrior. Again, weeds.
Player Goal: Your goal is to come to this Saga with a character who is not at “end game” level. What I mean by “end game” level is you don’t create a character that has nothing to learn because they know everything like a Mary Sue. Allow your character to grow and develop. Allow your character to meet other characters and don’t make too many NPCs to the point you’re writing with yourself. Do not come here to write with yourself. This is a role playing “group game.” Write together! Build stories. This saga is going to be added to your character’s back story after.
PVE & PVP
This section will explain combat etiquette for both PVE & PVP. If you are to engage in combat with GM-controlled NPCs (PVE) or another player (PVP), there is a very simple etiquette to use. The GM will not control all minions. The GM only controls mini-bosses and bosses, so if you are ever thrown into a GM-situation with multiple minions, you, the player is free to dictate their demise. However, if you are engaging a named GM-controlled mini-boss or boss, then there are some simple rules to follow:
1. Never Auto-Attack a Mini-Boss/Boss or Another Player. As mentioned above, minions are free game. However, mini-bosses/bosses and other players are not. When you are writing an attack toward a MB/B or player character, you must not complete the attack by writing the results. Here is an example:
Bob ran toward Suzie, swung with a right hook for her jaw, and shattered her jaw with his fist. Bob then quickly ran away before she could fight back.
The post above is garbage. Do not write this garbage in my game. Do not ever dictate what happens to another player’s character or my bosses. You do not know how that player will react or if your attack will even hit. Now below, is the correct way to write an action:
Bob ran toward Suzie and swung with a right hook for her jaw.
This post leaves the outcome open to be dictated by the other player. Your goal in a PVP match is to force your opponent into a corner like chess. You can do this merely by challenging their attention to detail. If they swing at you with their right fist, but you react to their left fist by mistake, and it wasn’t their left fist attacking, then you gave your opponent a hit.
This leads us to the next discussion.
2. There are only a certain amount of actions you can perform in a single turn.
You can either write an attack and a defensive move, two attack moves, or one to two defense moves. I will give an example of two.
Attack-Defense: Bob carefully stepped toward Suzie. His right arm was curled at the elbow, fist clenched at cheekbone level in a guard (defense). His left fist jabbed outwards toward her mouth, fist rotating to deliver his full force behind it (attack). Explanation: In Attack-Defense, your character not only attacks but sets up a defense in the case of a counter.
Attack-Attack: Bob hopped a foot toward Suzie, his right leg rising and tucking at hip level before it thrust out, sending his foot toward her gut. His right foot then quickly retracted, his right leg curling before he thrust it out once more, sending his foot toward Suzie’s chin. Explanation:In Attack-Attack, the character sacrifices his or her defense in order to execute two attacks in what is deemed a “chain.” A chain is tricky and should only be used as a finisher or if there’s an opportunity to take the advantage, say if an opponent is stunned or disoriented. A healthy opponent can break the chain by reacting to the first attack, which will nullify the second attack ever happening. Here’s an example of that:
Chain Break: Suzie pivoted on her right-foot and turned outward and sideways to Bob. Her left hand snagged his right ankle and the palm of her right hand thrust toward his kneecap with enough force to possibly break it. Explanation:Suzie never responds to Bob’s second attack because it never happened. Because Suzie reacted to the first attack, the second attack was nullified for Bob’s writer had implied that the following motion would have happened if his initial attack had been successful and not hindered. Suzie’s counter will more than likely be a hit for Bob didn’t set up any defenses to counter it. What Suzie used to counter Bob was Attack-Defense. Suzie also mentioned the intended strength of her strike, but didn't compromise her intentions by saying the assault, fore sure, happened.
Defense-Defense: Now a defensive move can be an evasion (dodge motions: side-step, duck, pivot, lean, dip, step-back, dive, etc.), a grab, or a stance. Defense-Defense is usually performed when a fighter is blocking the barrage of another fighter, when a fighter is being overwhelmed, when a fighter is trying to open his opponent’s guard, or when a fighter is trying to tire out his or her opponent. I will not give an example of this technique for it is pretty self-explanatory. For the example of a grab, refer to the “Chain Break” example.
3. A “grab” is a free move. Because a grab is non-lethal, it is a free move. Refer to the “Chain Break” example. When Suzie grabbed Bob’s ankle, the grab was not the attack. The grab did not cause him harm. The grab instead held him in a position where she would have an advantage. A grab can be countered just like Bob’s kick was countered in Suzie’s post. A fighter can logically counter a grab with a grab of their own and get into this grab, counter-grab, hand battle. A grab will not be considered an attack, but it is considered a defensive move. It may seem like an auto-attack because the writer has to write their character successfully grabbing the other opponent in order for the next move to make sense, but it’s not an auto-attack.
4. Chaining Moves. Chaining or Combos are a very advanced form of fighting. When you create chains such as Defense-Attack-Attack or Defense-Defense-Attack or longer, you risk the opponent breaking that chain somewhere. However, it can also be used to your advantage because it forces the opponent to focus and pay attention to each of your character's movements in order to logically break the chain. The chain will either be successfully broken or the opponent will miss a detail and fail, causing the combo to succeed. A chain break doesn't always cause a consequence, but there can be a consequence. As you get more comfortable with text combat, feel free to try using combos. Sometimes it makes for a very epic fight.
5. The GM and Co-GMs will be judging the PVP matches. I do not care too much about PVE as I do PVP. I recommend players go into PM or our discord chat (if we decide to have one) and talk out the match prior to attempting it. If players cannot decide on a winner beforehand, then one will definitely be decided in game when they do a blind fight. A blind fight being when neither player knows who the winner will be. What the GM and Co-GMs decide is final. The GM is the main judge you have to win. The Co-GMs say one thing, but if the GM says something else then that will be a win or lose for you. Understand this rule. What the GM and Co-GM decide goes. If you do not think you will be able to agree with this ruling, then do not join this game. I do not tolerate drama.
Power Level
Disclaimer: Power Level is a big deal in this game, and I know that some sub-races are unable to detect it without certain spells, programs, enhancements, etc. See Power Level as a ranking in this game to tell you how powerful a character is.
A power level system exists in this game. Power level can be increased as a cash-out after every PVP match, mini-boss/boss fight, and saga completion. It can also be increased in spars between characters. The largest cash-outs are for defeating Saga Bosses and winning tournaments. The power level system may become unfair to any player joining the game months-late or even a year-late. I reward longevity. The writers who enjoy this game, who join from the get-go, and who are in this game until it perishes with the GM or Co-GM who tries to pick it up in my absence, they deserve to be rewarded. There are too many players on this site who join games and then immediately bail from the game for random and mostly selfish reasons. If an IRL situation requires you to go absent, then you are always welcome back once the situation is resolved. If you leave the game because you joined too many games or you realize that the writing level of this game is more than you can handle, then these situations are easy to figure out before deciding to commit. Any who, long-story short, I reward veteran RPers. The writers who join this game now will have the strongest characters in the game in the long-run. Any new players who join months and years later will have to be mentored by the veterans in order to catch up.
In this game, every character will start at power level 910. As your power level increases, you will be able to acquire more slots for your character's techniques. If you are playing a magi, cyborg, android, mutant, etc. See these as program or ability slots.
Later as your character levels and receives their first “transformation” players will be able to customize a super form for themselves, which will be limited by a frequency per battle. If there are two battles within a Saga and you already used the transformation in the first battle, then you won't be able to use it in the second battle. That is what I mean by frequency.
For every 4,000 points a character’s power level is above another that character will seem invulnerable. To better clarify, if Player A’s Character is power level 1,000 and they are fighting Player B’s Character who is power level 5,000, then Player A better go find some help before he/she attempts to fight Player B. Player A would not be able to effectively solo Player B.

Rules
1. Do not come to this game to argue. If you read over this recruitment thread, and saw something that you didn't like, then move on. 2. No Enormous Pics/No Neon or Dark Font Colors. There is nothing wrong about using pictures. It’s when you do not size the picture down that it becomes a problem. You can use websites like pixlr or imgur (google them) to size down your pictures before you post them. If you don’t feel like resizing them, then link them or put a hider around them. Avoid using neon colors. They do nothing but hurt the eyes and nobody wants to read neon-font. Avoid somber colors that blend into the already dark background of the site. I should not have to highlight your post in order to read it. It should just be visible to read. 3. Whatever the GM says goes. I try to be fair to the best of my ability. However, I do not try to please the world nor do I care to. If we discuss an issue and we can't seem to come to an agreement, then it is best that the issue be dropped. If you remain persistent and create drama in my game, you will be reported. 4. Read my Game. I did not write this for my health. I wrote this mostly for you than for me. The number one way to get on my shit list is to show me that you didn't read my game. The best way you do this is by frequently asking me questions that are answered in the damn OP. If I suspect you're not thoroughly reading this OP, then I'm going to stop caring and you're not going to be allowed in this game. Why would I allow a person in whose hand I would have to hold throughout the entire game because they don't want to read a freakin' text role play game on a text role play site? 5. GM questions. If you ask a question, mention me. If you're talking to me, mention me. If you want my attention mention me because that is what that button is for. If it looks like I ignored you, 99.9% of the time it is because you didn't mention me and I lost your comment or question in the OOC flood. Mention me. Mention me. Mention me. I have to repeat this because people don't do it. 6. Be open and friendly. I am very big on character interaction. It is often overlooked in games. Please collaborate with other writers in this game. This game will become way more interesting if you do. 7. Romance. I like romance. Some of us do. But if you plan on walking the borderline of the Guild rules, then take it into PMs. 8. Third-Person Past Tense. The only acceptable style of writing in this game is third-person past tense. 9. Have fun. There is only so much I can do as a GM. I cannot make you have fun. I cannot make you enjoy the character that you created. I cannot make you seek out writers to collaborate with. All I do is guide the game and make sure everything goes forward and not backwards. You have to do the rest. So please make the most of this game.

The warrior without his gear stands tall and rather thick with his jutting muscles. His complexion is tanned and hair black with sickle-like sideburns. His personality tends to match his appearance: brutish, but he is kinder than his façade puts on. Intimidating, the warrior looks like quite the foe, which often inspires people who don't know him to leave him alone. There is, however, a charm that exists about the warrior. The impression he gives off of a big, dominating male tends to attract many a female, in which Lena is forced to keep back with a fist.
In his gear, no one familiar with Saiyans would have ever guessed him to be one. His tail is always comfortably wrapped about his hips and his short, bladed hair hidden beneath his headdress. It is the exchange of blows or the discovery of his tail that reveals his Saiyan blood.
Equipment/Clothing: Upon his head is a headdress crafted from the fur and bones of the White Devil. It is what gives him his stark mane that acts as his "White Lion" trademark. Upon his broad shoulders sits a mantle of brown fur and steel. A brown cape obscures the bulk of his power, trapping his body heat within a cloak of warmth. Beneath the shroud is a fur-lined, black vest and black trousers. Upon his knees are steel kneeguards and about his forearms are black steel and leather bracers. The teeth of the White Devil were fashioned into a necklace that rests against his collar. The boots at his feet complete his arctic ensemble, estimating the weight of his equipment to be 145 lbs.
White Devil Crown: Designed by Grisha from the dense bones of the monster yeti known by the villagers of Kosetsu as The White Devil, the headdress alone weighs 45 lbs. It is more than just a crown. It is his identity and memento of his birth into his frozen home.
______P E R S O N A L I T Y_______
Since waking from his coma, Grisha is rather free-spirited and unbound. The warrior goes where ever he pleases, when he pleases, and sometimes he won't return for days, which makes Lena worried sick. The Saiyan has learned to speak coherent sentences from Lena, but with him being so aloof, his speaking ability is still mediocre, neither entirely primitive nor advanced.
The warrior's desire to train overcame his desire to learn the etiquette Lena tries to educate him with. Grisha is simply downright barbaric from his bad manners, to his ability to smell on the level of a bloodhound, and to his appetite. The guardian often returns from being away when summoned by the Lion Horn. It is a horn carved from bone, which is blown in emergencies. It is wise for a visitor in Kosetsu village to not start trouble. If the horn is ever blown on him or her, they will face the fury of the lion. An enemy of Kosetsu village is an enemy of Grisha's "'nough said."
The Saiyan can't resist a challenge. He loves being able to throw some punches with a sparring partner or most of all, one that can give him a good fight. One of his biggest stereotypes is that the warrior is unintelligent because of the way he speaks. On the contrary, if challenged, his opponent will find that he is quite clever if not reckless.
Due to his mental deficiency, Grisha sometimes has irrational bouts of emotion in the form of rage or frustration triggered by something indefinite. No one knows what triggers these attacks, but its been assumed from witnessing certain situations that its when his brain is trying to remember or recall something to mind that just isn't there or accessible.
Overall, the warrior is a handful, and when around people, he needs constant supervision. The warrior isn't afraid to say it like it is, and is unaccustomed to the advanced technology that exists outside his home region.
______H I S T O R Y_______
A General
Grisha was once a general by the name Oniyon in the Saiyan Elite. He was ordered to conquer a mysterious planet to transform it into a colony for the Saiyan race. During his journey, a comet nearly struck his ship. His ship was sideswiped and sent whirling into the cosmos. Several of his unit's ships were destroyed. His pod approached a planet unlike any he had ever seen before. His pod broke the atmosphere to plunge haphazardly into a snowy scape. It crashed into the base of a mountain and at the foot of a frozen lake. The chilling waters and temperature penetrated the capsule, and in his terror, the ice had taken him.
Coma
The mysterious meteor that had crashed in the mountains attracted the people of the nearby village Kosetsu. Subordinates of the village chief were sent to investigate the impact site and when they returned, they brought with them on a sled a mysterious orb. With ice picks and mallets, they broke the ice about the pod and forced open its hatch to find frozen within a man donning a uniform unfamiliar to them--and they hadn't seen much living in the mountains their entire lives. The people were unsure if their find was man or alien, but it was dubbed that the creature, whatever he was, was dead. The village chief ordered the body to be thawed in the hot spring and given a proper burial. As commanded, the body was thawed, and the still waters became disturbed by oxygen bubbles. To the people's awe, the alien had survived but was in a deep coma.
The White Lion
There was a wicked creature that occasionally attacked the village. Twelve feet with horns like a devil, the yeti would terrorize Kosetsu village, devouring their herds, children, and those vulnerable enough to be caught. The White Devil came unpredictably once a month and would consume twenty villagers before its appetite was satiated. As the people scattered in fright from the devil's presence, the alien was unguarded and became vulnerable. The alien's caretaker Lena tried to deter the devil from reaching him, but held tightly by her father, she was unable to do so.
The White Devil found him and hefted him above his jaws. Dangling the naked Saiyan above rows of blade-like teeth, the Saiyan harshly woke and unleashed an enraged scream. The decibels of his scream shook the yeti down to his cells until he exploded, having been ripped apart by the assault. Bathed in blood and screaming irrationally, the villagers thought they were observing a lion, bellowing his dominance over a kill as his tail thrashed about.
I Am Grisha
The alien responded to questions although slowly. His gaze was distant, and the villagers believed that his brain may have been damaged by the cold. When asked his name, the Saiyan responded ineptly with, "Gr...sh..." Lena thus named him Grisha and with her weaning, he became a respected and cherished guardian of the village.
Current Story
Grisha, Lena, and Tobias have left the frozen north on a journey to the World Martial Arts Tournament. They are hoping that Grisha will win the tournament and some zeni to aid Kousetsu Village's survival for the winters to come.

Shatter (Offensive): Grisha stomps the ground upon his opponent’s charging approach, causing the ground to shatter and upheaval, throwing his opponent’s balance and opening up their defense for attack.
Faint (Defensive): The bigger you are, the slower you are right? Wrong! With Grisha’s muscles inflated with ki, he can move in short, instant bursts, leaving an afterimage of himself to fool the enemy.
Steel Thyself (Defensive): Grisha will execute a stance and concentrate on hardening his body with ki, raising his defense against physical and ki attacks.
Muscle Counter (Offensive): Grisha will contract his muscles the moment an opponent’s fist or feet makes contact. The sudden bulge of his contracted muscle sends a shock through his opponent’s limbs. An average human would risk breaking their bones.
War Cry (Offensive): Grisha’s enraged scream. The decibels are so strong that the villagers of Kousetsu say that was how Grisha killed the White Devil. His scream vibrated the White Devil’s body until the yeti exploded. Best scenario, a sturdier opponent will find themselves temporarily deaf and disoriented.
______O T H E R_______
Lena (NPC): She is Grisha’s adoptive family. She tends to take care of Grisha like a mother does her child, except she’s the younger one. Despite being a teenager, she knows how to put her foot down when Grisha gets out of hand. Her father Tobias claims that she gets that quality from her mother. Lena secretly likes Grisha, and she will become jealous of any other guy or girl who tries to flirt with him.
Tobias (NPC): He is Lena’s father and Grisha’s well…they don’t exactly see eye-to-eye. Tobias sees Grisha as a wild animal Lena brought into the house and won’t release back into the wilderness. They always butt heads, and even so, they still somewhat respect each other. Grisha will still protect Tobias if only because he’s Lena’s father.
When in school Kin wears the basic clothing befitting a high school student, which is a black and dark blue shirt and pants. When he is not in school, Kin likes to wear red robes and a silver necklace. He has an average body type and at first glance doesn't look very intimidating. He also wears a dark red cloak and goggles when he is trying to hide his identity from people who might be able to recognize him.
Personality
Ever since his mutant powers activated when he was younger Kin has always been more on the defensive side thanks to some people viewing his powers as something to be afraid of. He is fine with using his powers to do what he thinks is right and despite his defensive nature, Kin has a love of combat to push his mutant powers to their limit and beyond. Kin is a believer in objective morals and objective truth. He is subjective and relativistic concepts when it comes to society. For him fighting is more about doing what is right and imrpoving his ability deal out his brand of justice.
Background
Kin Zoku was born to average middle class parents living in South City. His early childhood was spent dreaming about achieving great things when he grew up. At one point he had an interest in learning martial arts, but upon taking his first class, Kin learned that his body was not built for the rigorous training required to become a great martial artist. Faced with the reality that his body wasn't strong to master the art of hand to hand combat, Kin decided to give up on his dream being a master of martial arts and focused on his schoolwork.
At the age of 13 Kin found that he was very good at concept of metallurgy and physics. Do to his weaker body Kin became the target of school bullies who picked on him for not being able to study martial arts and viewed his dedication to the sciences as a weakness.
At the age of 14 he was picked on after school and the bullies made it get physical, but unlike all of the other times he had been bullied something within him awakened and he felt power that he had never felt before flow through him and his body unleashed a wave of repulsive force that sent his bullies tumbling several feet away. He had been stunned by this turn of events and he was confused. Kin ran home and locked himself in his room in a panic. He had no idea how this had happened and while his mind raced with possibilities he decided to test to see if he could do it again.
At first he was unable to do anything and he wondered if what had happened was just some random unexplained incident, but when he focused as hard as he could he was able to knock the lamp on his study desk onto the floor. When he found that he could also bend metal to his will Kin realized that he had manifested the ability to manipulate electromagnetism. This revelation made him both shocked and amazed at the same time. He had heard conspiracy theories about people developing incredible abilities mysteriously, but he chalked it up to be the usual nonsense like magic.
For several months he practiced using his newfound powers in secret and occasionally did some good deeds such as stop petty crimes and save a couple of lives. But it was during a bank robbery that he intervened in when Kin encountered another person who had superhuman powers. Before the robbery Kin had felt the presence of someone at the bank and it compelled him to head their to intervene in the robbery. It was a man who went by the name of Stone Fist and he had the ability to make his body as hard as solid rock granting him inhuman strength. The two of them made quick work of the bank robbers and afterwards Stone Fist explained to him that he was a mutant.
Kin was grateful to figure out what he was and from then on he would occasionally meet up with the stone skinned mutant to learn how to get better control over his powers. After realizing that he had great potential if he kept developing his powers, Kin got the idea that he could actually learn to one day fight in the world martial arts tournament. He put together a costume to wear and came up with an alias to hide his real identity when he did hero business.
His parents didn't realize that he was a mutant and he kept it a secret to keep them from worrying about him and his line of work as a hero.

Kin's mutant power is the ability to control and manipulate electromagnetism. At his current stage he can only use his power in a limited manner and hasn't reached his full potential.
Crushing Hammer: Kin shapes a piece of metal into a large man-size hammer and wills it to attack his opponents and crush them with power blows. Maintaining this technique uses up energy and if pushed too far Kin will begin to experience fatigue.
Electromagnetic Wave: This technique allows him to fire off a blast of electromagnetism that hits with a great amount of concussive force and heat. The power of this ability varies depending on how much energy he puts into the attack.
Almighty Force: Kin unleashes a wave of repelling force that hits his enemies with crushing concussive power. The size and power of this technique is depended by how much power he puts into and if used too much then he will experience fatigued. This technique can also be used as a method of defense by repel both projectiles and melee attacks depending on how power he puts into it.
Electromagnetic Vision: Kin makes his eyes change to a bright glowing green color and it allows to see the electromagnetic energy that surrounds both living and nonliving things.
Electro-Bull: Kin creates a giant bull made of electromagnetic energy with a glowing bright green body and bright yellow eyes. When it hits its target it creates a large explosion of heat and electricity. This is one of Kin's signature move and uses up a good deal of energy and will tire him out if used too many times.
@Weird TalesElectromagnetic Wave: This technique allows him to fire off a blast of electromagnetism that hits with a great amount of concussive force and heat. The power of this ability varies depending on how much energy he puts into the attack.
Mighty Force: Kin unleashes a wave of repelling force that hits his enemies with crushing concussive power. The size and power of this technique is depended by how much power he puts into and if used too much then he will experience fatigued.
Repelling Force: This is a defensive technique where Kin uses forces of attraction and repulsion to create a wave of force that can repel both projectiles and melee attacks depending on how power he puts into it. If used too much Kin will feel fatigue from overusing the technique.
These three abilities are almost the exact same. Two of those abilities you could probably make one ability, such as Electromagnetic Wave and Mighty Force.
Have you looked at the superpower wiki to get ideas for more things you can do with electromagnetism?
Besides all that, I like how you're going the super hero route. Very unique. :D I know this is the same CS from the last game, but seeing how we're starting in sandbox. It'll be cool to read.

They are similar, but one is defensive technique while another is used for offense. I didn't want make him seem overpowered which is why I made three techniques that were similar although electromagnetic wave is basically a beam of energy.
Yang generally sticks a with simple blue martial arts gi as seen above. However, he's not above wearing more casual attire if an occasion calls for it. In those cases, though, he tends to keep it to a simple shirt and jeans. Beyond that, there's not much else to tell about his wardrobe. He stands at 5' 10'', a slightly above average height. He weighs a similarly average 160 pounds, at least that's usually the average for one spending his life in rigorous training anyway. He keeps a clean-shaved head, believing that growing his hair long would prove tactically disadvantageous in situations where the wind blows it in front his eyes to block his visibility, or provide opponents something to grab him by if he is not careful.
Personality
Focused and serious-minded, Yang takes his training very seriously and practically scoffs at anyone who doesn't. The martial arts have been one of the only things he's known for most of his life, and so that is the thing he has come to latch onto more than anything else in the world. Of course, this also means he knows little about city life and finds most of it to be frivolous and without meaning, which can and has rubbed many people the wrong way. He's also slow to trust others, but on the flipside his trust is almost always permanent once it's been earned. That also comes with the caveat of his trust being nearly impossible to regain should it be broken or betrayed. In battle Yang is equally as distrusting, often spending the first several moments of any fight purely on the defensive. Most opponents mistake that for fear or hesitation, but they learn soon enough that this so-called hesitation is really just Yang's way of studying his opponent until a suitable weakness can be found and exploited.
Background
An orphan since childhood, Yang knows nothing about his parentage and where or if any of his living kin live. And strangely enough, the young man has never had any desire to go searching for those answers either. He was taken in at an early age by a wandering hermit known only as Master Feng. Feng happened upon the orphan Yang being bullied by bandits, but before the old man stepped in he noticed the young child was quick to go on the attack to defend himself. The child didn't stand a chance, but there wasn't even the slightest hint of fear in the boy. Intrigued, Feng finally stepped in and easily frightened off the bandits with his superior skill. He took the boy home with him and trained him ever since.
Yang trained for years under Feng, learning what was known famously as the Crane School of Martial Arts. After beginning to master the School's style and even its most iconic technique, Feng surprised Yang one day when he told the newly-turned-20 year old student that he had nothing left to teach him. Unfortunately, Feng had focused Yang so much on training that the young man was at a complete loss for what to do. This was indeed the issue that Feng hoped to solve. Perhaps by sending Yang away to experience the world on his own he would learn to love and appreciate other things besides Martial Arts training. Always a loyal student, Yang obeyed his master's wishes and left to travel the world on his own.
Five years have passed, and Yang now travels here and there, always on the lookout for new training or a new rival to test his limits against.

Techniques
~Zanzouken: More commonly known as the Afterimage technique, the Zanzouken is a phenomenon that occurs when a fighter moves at such speed that they leave behind afterimages of their body in their wake. The images themselves cannot attack, as they are mere images that quickly fade away. Instead the technique is most often used to confuse or misdirect an opponent so that a counterattack can be more efficiently used against them afterwards.
~Taiyouken: Sometimes known as the Fist of the Sun or as the Solar Flare. The user holds their hands next to their eyes and their Ki produces a bright flash of light comparable to looking directly into the sun. It can blind the target and even those around them for several moments, leaving them open for an attack or providing the user an opportunity to escape. The technique can blind an opponent even if they're eyes were closed at the time of the attack, though for a shorter duration. A useful technique, but also easily countered by simply wearing sunglasses.
~Dodonpa: This finger beam attack is the most well known and iconic technique of the Crane School. While most Ki wave techniques rely on raw power and concussive force, the Dodonpa is instead a more concentrated beam of superheated energy. Depending on the user's level of Ki, the beam can pierce through virtually any form of armor or defense, often burning a small hole in the target's body. This efficiency is made even more devastating by the technique being much faster to charge than other more conventional Ki wave techniques. Its speed combined with its small size make for an attack that can be used at overwhelming speeds and with lethal accuracy and precision.
~Kikoho: The user forms a vaguely diamond-shaped "tunnel" with their hands. After gathering enough Ki, a powerful wave fires forward at a downward angle and slams the target with a powerful concussive force. The attack can be repeated multiple times, but with each successive blast draining the user's Ki and even their own life, potentially killing them should they overuse it. Despite the blasts leaving a square hole or crater on the ground, it has often been given the misnomer of Tri-Beam.
~Dokuken: Sometimes called the Venomous Fist, the Dokuken is series of swift strikes that don't appear to actually damage the opponent's body. Instead, the strikes are designed to target pressure points on the body and causing a brief paralysis in the limbs to restrict movement and slow the opponent down for a brief period of time. The more advanced form of this technique is said to not only debilitate an opponent's body but their Ki as well, seemingly crippling their ability to raise their Ki for a short time until they can shrug off the "venom" of the Dokuken strikes.
@Holy Soldier I'm also planning to update the appearance. The more I looked at those Chiaotzu-esque clothes the less I liked them. xD
@Holy Soldier Updated Yang's appearance, and made a couple minor tweaks. Aged him up to 25 since the pic I settled looked a little too old to be just 20, and I made a him a few inches taller to better match the new appearance. I also removed the part about the World Tournament from his background and instead he's just traveling place to place to train and seek new opponents.
@Holy Soldier I thought about what you said about three of the techniques sounding alike so I decided to combine Might Force and Repeling force together into one and added a new technique if that is fine with you.
Standing at 5’6” she is neither tall nor short but there is where her averageness ends. One look at her physic and one can tell she is very athletic, with a toned body and noticeable muscles but not so much that it crosses over into unfeminine territory. With her shoulder length blonde hair, sharp cyan eyes, and light peach-colored skin she is quite pleasing to the eye; however, she tends to not bother with her hair too much, letting the ends grow wild and the way her eyebrows are angled upward at such a degree gives her a bit of a cruel and unwelcoming look.
On the job usually she is decked in full combat gear, combat vest, plenty of pouches and straps for ammunition and knives, and of course a sidearm holster. Very rarely will she wear a helmet however as at her level it more gets in the way than actually helps out in combat. When not on the job you can usually find her in jeans or cargo pants, and a simple white hoodie or T-shirt. Even off-duty though she never leaves home without her sidearm and a few other pieces of equipment.
Personality
While a person who takes her jobs seriously you probably wouldn’t know it by now she acts. Erika is the type who will crack jokes and make snide remarks even at inappropriate times. She is not very lady like and has more of a rough edge to her. She can be nice but her brand of nice is probably not what other people would consider as nice. A bit of hard love and mocking is more her style than cuddles and reassurance.
While possessing a semi-rotten personality one cannot deny her brutal honesty and fierce will to protect others while mercilessly beating down the bad guys. While she tends to enjoy bringing the beatdown on her opponents if the decision comes to between taking down a baddie and saving a life, she will save the innocent life 10/10 times. Her purpose in life is to save life but she doesn’t have to be exactly kind when doing it.
Background
Erika Beryl was essentially what you could call a designer baby. Her cellular-structure was modified at birth to make her stronger and smarter than normal. This process was bought for by her parents on the black market. When it was discovered by the government they were none too pleased at the revelation and forcibly adopted the young girl at 5 years old.
As she had already been genetically engineered this made her DNA easier to manipulate and so more extensive testing began. A Doctor Tread was soon put in charge of her development and so Erika grew up under intense observation. After a few years she was able to return back to her parents but under the watchful eye of Dr Tread who continued to treat her. Finding herself much stronger than those around her she naturally started getting involved in more physical activities and became the ‘honey badger’ of sports and combat do to her unnatural toughness.
Deciding she wanted to use her talents to good use, she decided to go to police academy so that she could protect people. On the side the government made sure to give her extra training in more lethal combat styles and to continue their gene-manipulation so she could became a government weapon when needed. Graduating at the top of her class, especially in the physical department, she soon became a member of the police force that would often be sent straight into combat to quickly subdue any situation.
Her current assignment is in West Capitol
Weapon & Techniques
Weapon
Pump-action Shotgun – Her main weapon of choice when on the job, this dark grey and brown bad boy has been modified to be a lot more powerful than normal and makes for a decent melee weapon as well if needed. It can hold 4 rounds at a time plus 1 in the chamber. She usually has 20 extra shells on hand. It has a Total length of 2’4” and weighs 8 lb.
Taurus 9mm – Her trusty side-arm which she carries around at all times, only really useful against normal thugs but holds sentimental value as her first gun. It sports a fairly traditional black and metallic look. It holds 7 bullets per clip and usually she has two extra clips. It's stats are a 3.2” barrel length, weighing at 22 oz.
Combat Knives (3 + 1 Ki Blade) – Usually found in her vest pockets she can use them in hand-to-hand combat or as throwing knives. She always keeps one special knife on hand which has an orange handle, which allows her to pump Ki into the weapon to make it stronger and sharper. They weigh 11 oz, have a 1’ overall length, and a 6.5” Blade length.
Techniques
Landmine – She infuses the ground under her feet with Ki, creating a trap that will activate as soon as the next person or animal comes within range. She can also trigger it prematurely to cause a distraction or set off another trap.
Razor Edge – She cycles her Ki through her hands or her special Ki Blade. This cycling creates a sharpness that can easily cut through flesh; however, it works best when being used through her Ki Blade as it gets condensed much more, increasing its sharpness and effectiveness, allowing it to carve through many metals. As the technique uses a lot of Ki she has to use it fairly conservatively, especially without her Ki Blade.
Vital Strike – Trained in the art of killing, Erika specifically targets spots on that body that can cause fatal injuries. To cause said injury she concentrates into a single contact point on her body such as a toe, knuckle, or finger. On contact the concentrated point unleashes its deadly ki into a pin-pointed strike. The attack has to be positioned just right however for it to be effective so mostly just used as a finishing blow.
Energy Barrier – By concentrating she can create an energy barrier where she puts her hands. The barrier is best at stopping Ki and energy attacks while physical attacks can more easily break the barrier. The barrier only appears in front of her hands, covering the area equivalent of a large shield around 5 feet diameter.
Energy Grenade – Collecting her Ki into her hand she lobs the energy ball into the air or at an opponent. The ball then either explodes shortly afterward or on contact with an object or person, showering the area with Ki shard, like the shrapnel from a normal grenade.
@IceHeartShe's approved. We have some from the last game who still haven't moved their CSes over yet and plan to "one day." I'm not too concerned about it though.
I plan to start this game Friday. This will allow those who need to move their CSes over to do so, and any new CSes we're waiting on to get in. As usual, we tend to get more players once the OOC is up. But that's why I'm not too concerned about pre-OOC applications.
We do have a discord, so if you ever want the invite to it, let me know. I think some of us are on European time, but the rest are about Pacific. I don't know lol. I'm always on when I am on and not at work.
Porting this character over from another, recently closed RP. Hopefully you don't mind me using a modified version of the same template. @Holy Soldier
Basic Information:
Name: Ryuhei Takagi Age: 22 Gender: Male Race: Human Height: 5’ 9” Weight: 157lbs Hair Colour: Black Eye Colour: Brown Occupation: Assistant training instructor Ki Colour: ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇
Personality: A disciplined, focused individual who always manages to keep a level head no matter the situation, Ryuhei is someone who is dedicated to his chosen path and seeks only to live a good and respectable life. He is polite, friendly if a bit distant with strangers, a little bit cocky at times but maintains humility in the face of defeat.
However this was no always the case. Ryuhei was a troubled child, one who was often getting in trouble or starting fights and it looked like he was well on his way to becoming a trouble teenager as well. He was a delinquent with anger management issues and a distain for authority who was destined for life as a thug or criminal. The Ryuhei now is a changed person, but he still feels that old anger rising to the surface sometimes and worries that that side of him is not completely gone, merely suppressed.
Biography: To Ryuhei, fighting is the most important thing in the world. Not because he enjoys fighting, though he does, or because he likes winning, which he does, but because he credits martial arts with saving his life. When he fights he is able to feel the progress he has made, see the results of his training. When he fights he can show his master that his teachings worked. When he fights in a tournament he can win titles, earn prize money and show the world how great kyokushin karate is; he can give something back.
As a child Ryuhei grew up in a working class household in Kyoto. His father was a construction worker and his mother worked a series of retail jobs; they had a comfortable life, but money was always a little tight and there was no room for luxury. Ryuhei was a normal boy with a normal childhood, average in school and with a close group of friends, he was happy. As he grew older however he began to fall in with a bad crowd; nothing too bad at first, they were still only children after all, but he began to misbehave at school and at home, his grades fell and his attitude changed for the worse.
Over time and as he grew older Ryuhei fell more and more into a delinquent lifestyle; graffiti, vandalism and shoplifting were common occurrences, as was running from the police or being dragged home by an officer. Once he was in his early teens, Ryuhei was regularly getting involved in fights for one reason or another, enough that he got quite good at it and was even starting to earn a reputation as a dangerous individual among his peers.
It was during one of these fights, a routine clash with a rival “gang” from another school, when he was first approached by Master Goichi. He and a couple of friends had been ambushed on the walk home from the arcade by a dozen students from a nearby school that they had fought in the past; outnumbered as they were it was a surprise for his attackers when Ryuhei managed to beat them all, though both of his friends were also knocked out in the fight.
It was as he was preparing to beat another kid’s face in that a middle aged man approached him. He’d been watching Ryuhei fight and asked him why he felt the need to continue to beat a defeated opponent, Ryuhei replied that it was as revenge for the ambush and so that they would know not to try this again. The man asked him if he would stop just because of something like that and Ryuhei had to admit that the answer was no, he would find another way to get back at the person who did this to him. The man asked if Ryuhei wanted to become stronger; the answer was yes.
That was how he met Master Goichi and that was how he became his student. Master Goichi began to train Ryuhei as his dojo, even waiving the normal membership fee that he charged, and taught him the art of kyokushin karate. Goichi had strict rules for his students; a code of conduct, obedience to the master while in the dojo, a commitment to always give your training 1000% or your effort, and no fighting outside of spars. To break any of these rules was to be expelled. Ryuhei wasn’t sure it was worth the effort.
He changed his mind the first time he saw Goichi demonstrate a Hundred-man Kumite.
Master Goichi took the term a little more literally than most. Rather than fight one hundred separate spars he simply challenged one hundred people to fight him at once. People of all skill levels, some of them not even practitioners of kyokushin but coming from other disciplines instead. Goichi beat them all.
After then Ryuhei dedicated himself to his training whole heartedly, rapidly advancing in his skill level and physical strength. Although he originally agreed to join the dojo so that he could grow strong enough to beat anyone who tried to challenge him or his friends on the street, his masters rules prevented him from using his karate for this purpose; even without this rule, he found himself spending so much time training that he no longer had time to get into trouble and was only able to see his friends in school.
His parents began to see another change in Ryuhei’s personality over time, this one more positive, as the teachings of kyokushin to always be courteous took root. His dedication to his training spread to dedication in other areas and Ryuhei even started to see improvements in his grades at school. Over time he began to spend less and less time with the bad crowd he was a part of, his friends growing tired of his lack of free time and changing attitude. From afar he watched as one by one his friends were kicked out of school or dropped out themselves; he saw the injuries they would bring to school with them from the constant fighting, sometimes missing school or even ending up in the hospital because of them. By reflecting on his past and by watching his potential future play out, he began to realise where the path he was heading down before led and how much Master Goichi had done for him by taking him away from that.
Upon graduating from high school Ryuhei opted not to go to college, but instead to join Master Goichi at the dojo as an assistant teacher. He also began to take part in tournaments, which was something he had done in the past but not at the level he was trying to compete at now, giving any prize money he won back to the dojo along with any titles he matched to win. A few months prior to entering the World Martial Arts Tournament for the first time he reached 4th Dan in kyokushin karate, meaning he had to complete his own Hundred-man Kumite and although he was able to complete it, the experience showed him that he had a lot of progress to make before he could reach his master’s level.

Techniques • Kaiten Geri [OFFENSIVE] – Also known as the “Kyokushin Wheel Kick”, this technique involve the user performing a forward side roll towards their opponent in the air, rotating their body and striking the opponent with their heel. While already a powerful technique that puts the users full body weight behind the attack, it can be further enhanced by the user empowering their leg with ki energy • Morote Zuki [OFFENSIVE] – Literally translating as “double handed strike”, while this technique isn’t unique to Kyokushin it is taught to its practitioners as general karate technique. It involves striking the opponent with both hands simultaneously, as separate attacks, in order to make it difficult for them to defend against both at the same time; sacrificing the ability to defend to improve the chance of a hit. This too can be enhanced with ki to make it stronger •Mae Geri [OFFENSIVE] – A forward snap kick that can be aimed at either the face or the midsection. What makes this snap kick different is that it is designed to strike with either the ball of the foot or the toes instead of with the base of the foot; while a normal front kick is mostly use to push the opponent and create distance, this kick delivers a piercing attack to the chin or the liver. As with all of Ryuhei’s physical attacks, this technique can be enhanced with ki • Ki Block [DEFENSIVE] – The use of ki energy to strength the body by creating an aura around certain parts of the body. While useful as a defence against physical attacks this technique is most useful at reducing damage caused by other ki-based techniques •Ki Flash [OFFENSIVE] – One of the few ranged ki attacks Ryuhei knows, this is a short ranged but wide burst of ki release from the palm; it resembles a fire suddenly flaring to life. This technique can be performed with one or two hands, with the two handed version taking longer to prepare but being stronger as a result
