Depends on the potions. Invisibility potions or stuff that can heal grievous wounds with a sip? Probably not. Medicine, chemistry stuff, drugs, possibly. Just don’t get any wise ideas about starting a gunpowder revolution. Tired of dealing with fools who want to use poorly understood modern sciences to try and take over the world.

Sometimes. It’s just that whenever I’m in a fantasy RP, with or without magic, there’s always that one player who wants to start a gunpowder revolution and makes up as much backstory or excuses why such a character would have the in depth knowledge to not just make the blasting powder, but also the metallurgy skill to create a functional firearm that’s not just a muzzle load.

It’s the “give them an inch and they’ll go a mile” problem. GM let’s them have their gun powder, and somehow they’ve also figured out how to create metal cartridges for their bullets, either double barrels pepper boxstyle guns, and sometimes even magazines based off repeating crossbows designs. Which is stupid because repeating crossbows are gravity fed not spring loaded like actual modern gun magazines.

Good grief, that's still a massive jump considering spring-loaded magazines don't really even date back all that far. I mean, I'm not gonna lie, I've brought guns into a fantasy setting before - those being revolvers and some kind of handheld cannon. In hindsight, revolvers are definitely still pushing it... but as far as technology goes they're probably better?

Regardless, it'd just be best not to bother with them if they didn't actually exist in the first place.

Most of you are in the middle of a conversation and I'm not sure if I should pull you guys away or not. If that's okay with y'all though, I can start the monster hunt at least, putting anyone who wants to participate outside of the city so they can begin. You can mention making needed preparation retroactively of course.
