"I think I might be an overachiever."1. ♫ 2. ♫3. ♫ 4. ♫Name: Eleanor Harris
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Height: 172 cm
Weight: 63 kg
[APPEARANCE]Dogged belief that she must never stop pushing forward is what defines Elly. Though it's a rare sight, her natural hair colour is actually blonde--her quirk, when in active use, causes her hair and eyes to be a bright blue. While awake, she nearly always has it consciously active, as a means of constant training.
Due to the wet nature of her quirk, it's equally rare to see Elly wearing anything but athletic wear that resists water better than regular clothing. Track jackets, hoodies, spats, leggings, and sneakers of a spectrum of colours from muted grays to neon greens--she's never been particularly picky about looks, which can lead to some questionable outfits on mornings where she's sleepier than usual.
Specially made to be able to transform with her body, Elly's costume allows her to freely use her quirk without having to worry about ending up naked, which is nice. As for practicality behind the design itself--none, really. Elly simply wanted something that would help boost her popularity. Most would agree the costume accomplishes this too.
[HERO PROFILE]Hero Name: Torrent
Quirk Name: Water Body
Quirk Type: Transformation
Quirk Description:Elly can shapeshift her body into water.
With a pair of quirkless parents and two quirkless siblings, Elly was believed to be the same for a long time. Nobody was able to make the connection that the fact she seemingly sweat a bit more than the norm was related to her quirk--a very young and undeveloped version of it, but a quirk nonetheless. Eventually, as it strengthened itself through accidental use, the change in the pigments of the girl's hair and eyes were noticeable enough for her to be tested again. This time her quirk being officially recorded.
Even when Elly thought she was quirkless, she had still been aiming to become a hero. With the discovery, she became extremely motivated, immediately getting to work in strengthing both quirk and body to make up for lost time, proving that she could do much more than 'sweat' extra.
Elly can instantly turn any part of her body into water at will--from the tip of her pinky finger to a chunk of her stomach to her entire body. She also has a level of telekinetic control over this water, allowing her to 'keep her shape,' for one. This ability is most used to avoid damage to her 'normal body' by quickly transforming a part of herself to make any impact harmlessly splash through her. This telekinetic control is also used to return water that's escaped the main body in one way or another back to her--it's also the only way she can 'rebuild' herself if turned completely into a puddle.
Truly damaging Elly through her water is difficult. Temperatures hot enough to evaporate the liquid or cold enough to begin to freeze it are dangerous, and both slow down her transformation time considerably.
An application of the quirk in its infancy is a factor of super strength. Outside water can be assimilated into Elly's 'system.' Currently, she can only really return to her normal shape--that is, how she looks like regularly, her default 172cm, 63kg normal human body state. However, with extra water in her system, her body like this is stronger and faster than normal, dependent on how much extra water she is holding. Holding water past her normal capacity is extra tiring, and the length of time she can keep it all assimilated lowers the further past capacity she is. There are signs that with much practice and effort, she may not be only able to return to her normal shape, instead quickly shapeshifting her body to suit situations based on how much extra water she currently has assimilated, leading to immense versatility and power.
Along with the normal consequences of overworking one's body, overuse of the quirk leads to severe dehydration and spontaneous activations of the transformation--essentially quirk muscle spasms. These spasms are how the potential to shapeshift and hold a different solid form than her normal human body was discovered. As an example, the quirk may spasm and cramp, causing her forearm to eject water that solidifies as a protrusion from her skin, before sinking back into her as the cramp subsides.
[INVENTORY]- Not a whole lot. Having things on one's person is discouraged when everywhere you walk is one big splash zone. A water-resistant phone and a small wallet with no cash are necessities, as is a bottle of water that she chugs and refills dozens of times throughout the day.
[SAMPLE POST]While she might have gone a teensy little tiny bit overboard during the training exercise, and was being yelled at again for it by the irate principal of the second-rate hero school she attended, Elly simply couldn't help but feel proud about herself.
The dumb grin she was wearing definitely wasn't helping the principal's mood, even though his ranting lectures were just white noise to her at this point. Wait, that fact was probably clear too through her body language. He yelled louder. Yeah, probably also not helping.
Hm.
He was screaming about having some common sense. Sure, she had completely laid out the kid she had been sparring against, but 1. pulling punches in training when their aspirations were to deal with real, dangerous villains would be idiotic and 2. the kid was kind of a dick anyway.
She had already pleaded both those cases a few times each and the teachers here didn't want to hear it, so at this point she had learned to just keep quiet while everyone just calmed down.
"Um, sir..."
The school's secretary, timidly walking over to interrupt the rant at hand. She motioned for the principle to turn, both their backs to Elly now as they whispered. The principal seemed to choke on his own spit.
"Unbelievable. Un-fucking-believable!" he yelled, throwing his hands up and quickly exiting the office. Elly fought hard to keep down a laugh--she'd seen him livid before, but that was the first time she had ever heard him swore.
As she watched him through the glass turn into his office, the secretary sat down next to her.
"It's U.J." she said excitedly, placing a hand on the girl's shoulder. Elly perked up immediately, expression clearly asking for more information.
"They've been talking with us the past couple days. They're interested in transferring you there!"
Elly blinked. "Really?"
The woman nodded, and Elly finally afforded herself a genuine smile. A moment later though, she realized that the principal must be talking to someone from the far more prestigious school now. The smile faded a bit.
"He's not gonna let me go."
The secretary gave a laugh at that. "Oh dear, believe me, he will. He's much softer than he lets on. He knows as much as you and I do that that's where you deserve to be, not here. He's not going to show it, but he's happy for you."
Elly blinked, incredulous again.
"I swear."
She was right.
Elly kept the phone to her ear until she heard the other end hang up. Slowly, she moved the device away from her ear so she could look at the number, still in disbelief. Yes, it was still U.J.'s. Yes, she had just spoken with staff from the school, reconfirming she would be transferring there. The girl flopped back onto her bed, staring at her ceiling.
She had been a late bloomer. Thought quirkless for years, she had had far less time training than all her peers that had the same aspirations she did. She had worked a hundred times harder than everyone around her to make up for that difference. She had ignored all the teasing about how useless her quirk was. Despite all the anxiety she always felt, despite being terrified to fail--and knowing she would have to, hundreds and hundreds of times to catch up--she had kept fighting through it.
And she had failed. Even with all her efforts, she hadn't been strong enough to pass the U.J. entrance exams when they had come around.
For the thousandth time, she had wanted to give up.
But--and though it was harder this time than any other--for the thousandth time, she hadn't. More anxiety, more fear, more potential failure, and having to accept the failures that had already passed--she shouldered it all again and trained herself even harder. Ragged day in and day out, but pushing further each time. She made it into her second choice school, and excelled beyond any of her peers. With each passing day, the gap only grew larger.
And people had noticed. Really, it hadn't taken long, but it had felt like an eternity to the girl who hid the anxiety that wracked her exceptionally well.
Elly found herself laying on her stomach, her face in her pillow, halfway between sobbing and laughing. The right people had noticed the results of all her effort. She had earned her way to the best hero education she could have hoped for.
Elly had earned it.
The girl flipped herself back over, to stare at the wall another moment as she wiped her face with her arm, the tears disappearing into her skin. Enough crying, that wasn't fit for a future top hero. There was only one thing to do now.
Bouncing up off the bed, she slipped her sneakers back on and made her way through her quiet home.
Again, she remembered the last thing her old principal had said to her when he delivered the news of the transfer to her himself.
"Go get 'em. And stay out of my hair."
Elly stifled a giggle at the memory, stepping through her front entrance and locking the door behind her, thoughts shifting to her plans for tonight.
The pond. That's where she'd spend this evening. It just felt like a heavy quirk-training kind of night to the water girl.
