F o r e w o r d
The Kingdom of Meplein is in chaos.

Upon the betrayal of of High King Yaril by his son, Joren, the kingdom was willingly subject to dark armies of the powerful Dregrot. With the kingdom's gates now open, the creatures of the night—orcs, demons, undead and more—sacked and burned entire cities to the ground; the fallen only feeding the enemy's strength. What remained of the king's court called their neighbors to arms, citing ancient treaties made with the dwarves of Hagh Kuldir and the high elves of Thal'Lamore, yet both calls went unanswered. Finding itself alone on the battlefield, many Mepleiners chose to flee, whereas others prioritized survival and joined their Traitor Prince.

This, however, is the tale of neither. This is the tale of honor and glory; of hardships and bloodshed. This is the story of the White Rose—a knight-turned-militant order—standing few against the many. With small bastions of hope scattered through the lands, members of the order have locked themselves in an inevitable struggle against Dregrot and his host, their weapons brandished to defend the kingdom and fleeing refugees.

Will you heed the call and join them? Will you give your life for a greater cause—one of holiness and servitude to a greater good?

Below is a list of basic rules and guidelines that will be applied to this roleplay. It is recommended that you read through them thoroughly, as everyone will be upheld to the rules. Anyone who fails to uphold the rules will be met with equal punishment depending on how severe the infraction happens to be.

Pacing: Typically, I expect at least a minimum of a post a week for any RP I GM. At the same time, it is understandable that someone might find themselves busy as everyone has some sort of obligation, whether it be school, work, and so on and so forth. If you do find yourself unable to post for some time, please make sure I and any CoGMs know so that your character can be moved temporarily into the background to avoid holding up the roleplay.

Posting: Whilst I don't expect everyone to be the greatest writer in the world, please try to write at a high casual to an advanced level. This doesn't mean that you should write a rambling novel, rather, it means to write a post of considerable quality. Ensure your post is fluid and flows with the scene, check your grammar and spelling—that kind of stuff.

Etiquette: Put simply, don't be an ass to everyone. We're here to have fun roleplaying, so don't incite arguments and flame your fellow roleplayers. As long as you follow these rules and the guild rules, we should be fine and dandy.

Here she is. We need cooks, medics, and archers and the like, but I guess I'm kicking things off with a front-line fighter. Let me know what you think, and if I should change anything.

What ever works as long as it isn't super over the top/overly flashy.

It largely depends on the race in question. High elves are more open to using magic (primarily arcane magic), dwarves are extremely cautious with using it, humans are more indifferent (though they tend to have paladins/clerics/priests more than regular old mages), etc.

I had this idea for a House Elf, in this case an Elf (or a member of some other Race) who is tied to a building or an organization (in this case White Rose) through a magical Household Pact.

According to the Pact, in exchange for an offering, the Household Guardian performs tasks for the order (such as mending clothes, cleaning and taking care of the horses). The Pact also grants the Guardian magical powers to aid in performing the given tasks, such as speed and invisibility.

A rather unorthodox idea, I admit, but I thought it would be a nice twist to the Household Spirit archetype.

But, what do you think?

I suppose that could work, though I would need more information on the powers the Guardian would have, and what kind of offering would be needed.

@Kuro
Need questions

1.) Since I wanted a mage, I took one skill slot for general magic and one skill slot for his specialization. Is that alright or can I only take single schools? Like since I took general magic am I allowed to use the basics of all schools of magic and one specialization meaning I can be amazing in that one school or is it like magic's rare/grounded enough that I'd need to pick a specific school and just have the basic ability to perform that one school?

2.) I wrote in a magical college into his backstory, do those exist or are wizards in small scattered groups?

3.) How does magic work? Mana or slots? You said it causes exhaustion so I assume it's Mana based and people can just use mana energy to affect the surroundings/themselves. Like Shadowrun

4.) Can I get a measuring stick on what's possible to be done by mages/magic both in a general sense and when they specialize? Like generally what's possible with magic and how much stronger an evoker can use offensive/evocation magic than a generalist/non-evocation specialized mage

5.) Depending on how powerful mages are and the fact everybody can use magic, can knights/fighters can superhuman physical abilities by subconsciously manipulating their mana so they can keep up/keep improving when faced with a literal army of darkness?

6.) I realize I might have misunderstood magic descriptions. With there being Arcane, Rune, Holy and Nature magic, do schools of magic even exist?

One skill slot for general magic would mean basic ability in all schools of magic, yes, not unlike a jack of all trades. Taking a skill in a certain type of magic would mean that your character would be skilled further in said school than the average caster.

2.) I wrote in a magical college into his backstory, do those exist or are wizards in small scattered groups?

Mage colleges do exist, yes. They're more prominent in elven cities, but they do exist. Smaller groups/factions such as harvest witches (a minor form of druidism practiced by those that have a small control over nature magic) also exist.

3.) How does magic work? Mana or slots? You said it causes exhaustion so I assume it's Mana based and people can just use mana energy to affect the surroundings/themselves. Like Shadowrun

Magic, including religious-based magic, functions through mana. Whereas everyone has some sort of magical affinity, it requires years of formal teaching to cast something that actually looks like a spell. Students at mage colleges might learn how to sling fireballs, priests/clerics/paladins-in-training would learn to mold their faith into magical abilities, and so on and so forth. While those with spells under their belt can cast any of them (though more complex spells may require time and reagents/ingredients), too many spells cast without a momentary rest will leave the user drained and weak, unable to cast anything. Of course, this can be ignored through the use of potion/crystal use, but too much of either will eventually create an addiction to the substance.

4.) Can I get a measuring stick on what's possible to be done by mages/magic both in a general sense and when they specialize? Like generally what's possible with magic and how much stronger an evoker can use offensive/evocation magic than a generalist/non-evocation specialized mage

With magic, almost anything is possible. Life can be restored or just as easily drained away. Rains of fire or blizzards can be called down upon an opponent. Constructs can be forged and weapons can be enchanted through the use of magic. It mostly depends on what the user is skilled in, and how knowledgeable they are in the magical arts. As for how stronger a proficient member of a certain school would be over a generalist, the difference would be noticeable. A generalist might know how to cast a fireball or two, but someone skilled in Fire magic could potentially cast a storm of fire from the sky or even turn a foe into a living bomb.

6.) I realize I might have misunderstood magic descriptions. With there being Arcane, Rune, Holy and Nature magic, do schools of magic even exist?

Those are the schools of this universe, though I suppose one might consider them "types" rather than "schools". The ones I listed are just some of the possible schools that one can practice. There's Arcane, Fel, Necromancy, Nature, Holy, Shadow, Rune, Blood, Elemental (also broken further into elemental magic like fire), and so on and so forth. No one is certain how many schools there are, especially since some spells combine schools such as Astral magic (which is essentially divine nature magic) or Shadowflame magic (shadow and fire mage combined).

EDIT: Missed #5. No, a knight or a general fighter can not use magic to supplement themselves unless they've trained to do so, like a spellblade, or a paladin.

Especially with that reply, I have another question from the side of a non-mage. Or maybe really some questions.

First would be the use of magic in "normal" crafts, such as: Is it common for someone to improve their craft with magic either by unconsciously channeling some of it during production or through learning of explicit runes / enchanting procedures? Are magical items (lamps, storage ..) / weapons common at all or special as only trained sorcerers create them?

And how does magical affinity show for people not formerly trained? Are they aware of surrounding magic or is it just the general possibility to make use of it without any real implications?

Yes, people can use magic in crafting. You might find blades inscribed with runes or enchanted with magic reagents, though (as to answer your second question), they are harder to come across. An adventurer might have an enchanted blade or a battle hardened paladin might wear holy-infused armor, but the average person won't have some sort of magical gear (unless you're a high elf, of course, since they're more inclined to use magic themselves). You wouldn't see guards up and walking around with [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker].

As for the magic affinity question, high elf research has found that everyone has some sort of magical prowess that acts not unlike an essence. In other words, magic affinity is like blood that one uses to power/cast their spells, but can also be drained through the use of certain spells that devour the target's mana reserves, leaving them empty until they can replenish. One must go to school (or a church/temple in the case of religious-based magic) to learn how to physically harness their powers, but those with a stronger affinity generally have an easier time pursuing magic, with some colleges preferring those with a greater affinity to magic than those with weak ties.
