Point 3 will be addressed IC, point 4 is negated by cloaking. 2014 military can't touch this.

And what about the fact that he'd get creamed by the ship? I'd be willing to bet that two equal tiered generals of Khazna and Fury are in that ship as well.

I don't pretend to know the ship's capabilities, therefore I can't comment to that end.

This is why Ships are meant to be in the background.

Because literally.

That ship is capable of anything that they want it to be able to.

Then why do they ever actually leave the ship to fight? Why do their ships even exist?

The ships exist for plot furthering and transportation. Thats it. This isn't Stars Wars, we dont have ship battles. If two people have a ship, and they want to fight, they get out of the ships and start punching each other.

Either you're intentionally not grasping the concept, or you're really just unable to receive the message.

So let me put it in bold, italics, and caps so you will understand the message as clearly and concisely as possible.

THIS IS A CHARACTER TO CHARACTER COMBAT ROLEPLAY.

NOT A SHIP TO CHARACTER COMBAT ROLEPLAY.

NOT A VEHICLE TO CHARACTER COMBAT ROLEPLAY.

SHIPS ARE INTENDED TO BE PART OF THE SETTING, NOT PART OF THE FIGHT.

FIGHTING WITH THE SHIPS IS NOT THE INTENTION OF THIS ROLEPLAY.

THIS IS ABOUT INTERACTION BETWEEN TWO CHARACTERS.

And before you mention mechs:

Mechs are humanoid or bestial form machines. These are capable of properly fighting with characters who are bestial or humanoid in shape. The people inside are wholly useless without them. While Mechs have advantages, their greatest disadvantage is their size. And their entire body being a target.

If I post about a tree, my opponent is more than welcome to blow that tree up. I post about a car in the background, you can interact with a car. We are supposed to interact with the setting, not just each other. Why this inane bubble exists around ships and ships alone is beyond me, but frankly it's both moronic and immersion-breaking. Why not just not have ships?

On my next character, I will give him an ordinary earring, but no one is allowed to post about it or even acknowledge it IC.

After, this is about character vs character, not character vs. earring.

And then there is the irrational vehicle hate. What is the functional difference in terms of the story between a sword and a tank? One is a tool a character uses to kill, and the other is...a tool a character uses to kill. So long as the character using the tank is balanced, what is the problem?

I want you to re-read under what pretenses I accepted your character.

Then I want you to sit back and read what I'm about to say, because I'm not going to say it again.

Vehicles are part of the setting. Yes, they may fire. Yes, they may present a sense of urgency and be considered a 'stage hazard.'
But they are not the central concept of the roleplay.
Ships exist simply to enhance the setting by;

A: Pushing the plot along with a sense of urgency.
B: Transporting characters from place to place.
C: Representing the challenge of power based on the immensity and number of their ships.
D: Being a hazard to avoid.
E: Being a location to do character to character combat on.

Saying that it is 'moronic' or 'immersion breaking' is you personally not understanding what this roleplay is about.

I am growing frustrated with this notion of: "Vehicle hatred." And especially the way you are reacting to something that I told you on day one of you being in this roleplay. It is not a hatred of vehicles. It is a well justified frustration that vehicles aren't intended to be the central focus of the combat.

When you claim that your vehicles are balanced, I grow even more frustrated.

As your ship can accelerate to Mach 10 in 40 seconds.
Your ship can orbitally bombard any character in one turn with explosives that are sufficient enough to level more than what the bomb in Hiroshima did.
It can turn invisible.
It is the second largest thing in this roleplay to Green's mech.

Not a single character can compete with your ship. Not a single person.

And on top of it all you're acting like you're some kind of martyr, some kind of victim. You're simply not understanding what I told you from day one.

Vehicles are part of the setting.

You are making statements, not explanations.

I recognize now Garrett is horrendously OP, as the God types like Raptormam's char are inactive and he was made to counter those. However, he needs to return to Earth to advance the story and allow me to introduce my next character. Do you see a better way to get back to Earth than following those people who know how to use portals? Because I don't.

Here is what I mean by "immersion breaking". Why in the hell, would anyone who has this immensely powerful ship, ever go down ever to brawl with some punk on the ground? Better to not have them at all.

You're perfectly illustrating my belief in your irrational vehicle hate. Suppose Beowulf of Titan had treads instead of legs, and a driver. Is it now not a character? Would you have denied it if it had treads and a driver? Can you show me a quote by Skallagrim saying vehicles don't belong with characters?

Garrett's "ship", which is really my terminological laziness, is much smaller than a 747. It is half the size, in fact. It is a plane which can go into space. If/when a God shows up, I will bring him from retirement.

Did you ever consider that at some point in this massive OOC it was dicussed and you didn't see it? Did you ever consider that it might've been mentioned elsewhere (PMs or an IM client of some sort). There is also a certain reasoning to it. Unless the vehicle in question, be it a ship, a car, or a tank, has an immense amount of weaponry and ridiculous maneuverability and/or armor it would not stand a chance against a smaller, more mobile, and potentially devastatingly powerful individual.

That last thing "smaller, mobile, and potentially powerful individual," applies to most, if not all the characters in this RP, with the possible exception of low tier characters.

So I'd say it is less a hatred, and more the sheer fact that it would, in most circumstances, be unfair on one end. Either the vehicle would be too potent, or it wouldn't have enough maneuverability to handle the other characters in the RP, even those in the same tier.

Also, this isn't just based on speculation, I had a conversation about it with LeeRoy on skype a while back. I asked him about the ship thing sheerly out of curiousity. Honestly, I think you don't get an explanation because he's tired of hearing you whine about it, which is what it appears you are doing.

Incessantly. I really don't mean to be insulting when I say that, I'm just telling you how you appear to anyone else looking at the situation.
On another note, I have to slightly dispute LeeRoy, and you for that matter, in saying that Garret's ship would be a challenge to Arkaeis. It is not impossible, or implausible that he could face the thing on fairly equal terms. I have justified reasons for saying this. So why not send Garret to Arkaeis? Perhaps he would be willing to help him use portals? Or they could have a bout, he is looking for one afterall. I mean, he pretty much attacked the place. Granted, I don't know where Garret is atm, so I can't say if that is possible, thus it is entirely up to you.

Skallagrim pretty much explicitly stated himself that ships were complete fluff only a short while into the OOC, I'm not entirely sure why Boerd's character was accepted at all considering it's his only way of fighting.

Regardless, if you want to retire your fucking character, retire it. Don't force some stupid-ass victory which quite obviously negates two months of posting of what Fury does using some borderline meta-gaming ballshit understand Boerd?

Ask LeeRoy. :p

The way I see it, the problem with the ship is not what it's capable of, it's that as long as Garret is in the ship, he's effectively isolated from the majority of the characters in the MV, which meant incredibly limited character interaction and since this isn't supposed to be "RAWRFIGHTFIGHTFIGHT!" part of the Arena, it gave another set of problem.

It's not a ship. It is smaller than even the Space Shuttle. If it could not fly, there wouldn't be a problem. Being a vehicle itself does not ipsp facto make it OP.

Lol, don't talk to me about meta-gaming, mr "Freedom just magically disappears without a portal!"

Your logic is so stupid, as if even a kindergartener wouldn't put together that Fury and the megaship are connected.

And since everyone is all "RAWR IT IS SETTING!" Fine! Let me blow ot up in a single post like a tree or a car. Let's not make it a focus. Just get it out of the way, pure and simple.

I don't -think- you actually understand what meta-gaming is. Then again, I don't think you understand what a lot of things mean.

Frankly, I'm perfectly happy if you go back to sulking in a corner though.

Using OOC information IC. What you did was not meta-gaming, you are correct. Godmodding is the more appropriate phrase.

Or more precisely it was just plot convenience, because if I had a drop-ship come down what logical reason would they have not to blast the giant bear attacking their operatives with lazer fire? You weren't even around at this time.

I'm obviously a lot more polite than you.

Drop-ship from where? Khanza wasn't even there yet. You just transported him through the dimensions without a portal.

My character dropped from space with two other Nas'Gadurans (who are technically described as being teleported down.) I'm fairly certain I stated somewhere they had come from a Corvette class ship.
