The year is 1897 (two years prior to the setting of the Red Dead Redemption series). The age of Outlaws and Gunslingers was reaching its twilight. America was becoming a land of laws. Even the West had mostly been tamed. A few gangs still roamed, but they were being hunted down and destroyed.
I present to you...
What will you do on the day of reckoning, when disaster comes from afar? To whom will you run for help? Where will you leave your riches?
~Isaiah 10:3
This is a Red Dead Redemption-inspired original RP. You do not need to have any prior knowledge of the games to be able to participate (though knowing the games will aid in your appreciation of the easter eggs that may pop up).
The game will be borrowing 2 main components from the Red Dead Series: The Map and the Lore.

I will explain the pertinent lore throughout the game as we need it. The Van Der Linde gang exists in the world, but they currently will not be playing a large role in our story.
I am going to be a little picky when it comes to recruitment. This type of RP is a little ambitious and it's going to take some talent to really make it worthwhile.
At least 2 paragraphs per post. The more the better. I've moved this into Advanced to hammer down that fact. I am definitely looking for writers that want to help me create an amazing story.
You must be 18 years old or older. This is a dog eat dog world of blood, gore, prostitution and debauchery. By applying, you acknowledge that you are a legal adult.
You must bring your own personal campaign with you. What does that mean? That means I want you to construct a personal story arc for your character and explore it throughout the game. For instance, Arthur Morgan had a side arc centered around his lost love Mary and his attempts to get her back and do right by her. This arc had very little direct involvement with the main plot of the story. That's the kind of thing I'm looking for out of all of our players. If things get a little slow on the main plot, I want you equipped with your own story that you and maybe one or two of your new friends can explore, giving your character dimension and development as well as providing content for everyone.
You must have writing prowess. I'm not looking for novelists, nor am I pitching a fit if there are typos. However, I do want to know that you can write well enough that it's enjoyable to read. I will be looking at some of your past contributions to the RPs on this site to help determine that. For those who lack a history of posting on this site, I may ask you privately for a writing sample.

When we first start off, it's going to be free roaming. I want everyone to give their characters an intro that will goad the rest of the players into caring about your creation. I'm likely going to start my character off in Armadillo. Anyone can start their character off anywhere, but if you intend to have your character meet up with mine and potentially join the gang, it would be best to start off somewhere near that vicinity.
That said, you do not have to be part of the gang to play. Originally I was going to have that be the case because it seemed like it'd be easier to herd people that way but ultimately I don't want to herd people. That's a bit boring for me. Red Dead Revolver herded you as a player and went through the sequential missions in a very linear campaign and it was just a ho-hum experience. Then Redemption came out, added a massive about of freedom and was a raging success. We're going to try to emulate that. I'm going to lead you through a main campaign, the skeleton of the game. I want you all to fill that skeleton with meat. Develop relationships, side plots, enemies, heists. This game is going to be as great as we all make it.
My character will be going around spectating, recruiting for a project. He's going to eventually find some of your characters and hopefully once he does, he'll be impressed. If your struggling with how to introduce your character in an exciting way, maybe keep that in mind; Do something that will impress a no good outlaw.
When it comes to Player vs Player fighting, my co-GM(s) and I will be coming up with a system that we may try to implement later in the game. I don't expect any PvP Shootouts to happen right off the bat. If you're fighting an NPC, write the results of the fight out in a way that best serves the story. If I have controlled the NPC at some point, please get with me and we'll weave out a result together. If you and another player want to fight and can already agree upon a result, then by all means skip the system and go for it. For those who really want to duel, though, with a dynamic outcome, that's where the system will come in and decide upon the victor.
We can and will get a little weird at times with these stories. Red Dead Redemption has been known to dip its toe in the pools of zombies, UFO's, mythical creatures, demonic practices, etc. Weirdness is gonna happen! If you've got something planned that edges on the strange, hit me up and tell me about it. I'd love to hear it.
Posting Schedule - Looking for at least 1 post a week from all players. If this is an issue for some, please address it with me as the issues arise.
Discord - I will be passing the Discord invitations out individually as players get approved.
I think that about covers the basics. Throw your CS's into OOC and await approval or critiques. If you have any questions, feel free to ask here or in private and I will answer to the best of my ability. Many of you have applied for the Co-GM spots and, once we start getting these CS's approved, I will start addressing those appointments as well.
I'll get my guy's CS posted soon after a bit more polishing, but until then I'd like to introduce you all to a man you'll be getting to know fairly well. Love him or hate him, he's Draven Creed.
