Full Name:
Madison Lewis Lovette
Nicknames/Aliases:
Maddie, Mad, Professor
Age:
34
Gender:
Male
Primary:
Pyromancy
Professor of Pyromancy and Magical History
Secondaries:
Healing and Toxin Production
Description:
Standing at a height of 5’7” feet, Madison is a man of fair complexion, with mellow features, dark eyes, and even darker curls that fall to his chin. These traits, however, tend to be overshadowed quite easily by his rather...interesting choice in wardrobe. Despite being male, and identifying as such, the professor is almost always found donning a pencil skirt and heels. As Madison leans naturally on the more androgynous side of the spectrum, it doesn’t take much use of makeup for him to become nearly indistinguishable from a woman. This hobby of his can easily confuse both staff and student alike- especially if one has not been informed of his gender otherwise.
On the side of his neck is a tattoo of an oval with several concentric rings inside of it, with the words “Sempre vigilans" inscribed on a banner below it. His left wrist bears a twined Alpha and Omega symbol in black ink. His body as a whole is littered in various scars.
Personality:
At heart, Madison is an open, gentle natured man. He actively strives to be the type of professor a student (or staff member, for that matter) would go to with their problems- understanding and patient. In a contrast to several of his fellow teachers, Madison is slow to ire, being able to take many things in stride before getting riled. However, in the case that he is truly angered, he becomes silent with rage, and will often hold a long lasting grudge against whoever drove him to that state.
Relationship:
N/A
Skills:
- A master of pyromancy, capable of equal parts control and destruction against opponents.
- A talented healer and toxin producer, partly through constant use and practice during the war. With the latter, Madison particularly favors sleeping agents and flammable substances, but is also capable of more deadly concoctions as well.
- Good people skills.
Weaknesses:
- Madison has difficulty forming strong bonds with other people.
- On a related note, Madison also has trouble working alone, and prefers to work in a group than alone.
- For all of his control, his fires are still very dangerous, and could very well harm team members if left unchecked.
Brief History:
Madison’s relationship with his family was a rather difficult one, put gently. As the Lovette family line was primarily matriarchal, Madison’s parents wanted nothing more to have a daughter to carry on the name. Though they made a constant, increasingly desperate effort, they were unable to have any children for many years- until Madison, at least. Of course, seeing as how the child was male, he could not carry on the lineage, but the options had begun to run out. A heir was expected, and, with the parents growing old, they made the unorthodox decision to raise their son as a daughter.
Eventually, after years of this treatment, Madison came to learn of the full extent of his situation. Disturbed, he found refuge in his close friend, a Terramancer, and ran off to join the war- lying about his age to join. While Madison survived, he watched many of his fellow soldiers fall, as well as his companion. Once the war was over, Lovette took to wandering, strengthening his powers in the meantime. Interestingly enough, he also returned to the habit of dressing in women’s clothing, albeit of his own choice this time around. However, upon receiving an invitation to teach at Marchand, Madison was quick to leave behind his travelings to teach at the newly born institution.
Full Name:
Esperanza Rosalind Ernesta Ciervo
Nicknames/Aliases:
Esp, Espie, Esper, La Hija de la Muerte
Age:
15
Gender:
Female
Primary:
Necromancy
Student
Secondaries
Blood Magic and Familiar Summoning
Description:
Clocking in at 5’3”, Esperanza is a woman of a slim, almost twiggy build, with tanned skin and sad brown eyes. Black hair falls just above her shoulders, and the girl herself is typically found wearing a cheerful expression. Hers is the face that could blend into a crowd easily, if not for a few key quirks that keeps that fairly difficult.
Namely, her right pinkie and several of her toes amputated right down to the knuckle, and a tangle of ink across her wrists, arms, and back. The tattoos are by far the most eye-catching, stylized to appear as pitch black feathers, and, in the case of her back, wings, sprouting from her skin. There are times when portions of her tattoos are hidden- most frequently in bandages, as a direct result of her Blood Magic usage. The girl herself is quite twitchy as well, with a stilted, awkward grasp on the English language and a thick accent. Esp typically wears a variety of multicolored blouses, long-ankle length skirts, and loafers throughout her everyday life.
Personality:
By all means, Esperanza can be considered a decent person. She genuinely makes an effort to be friendly and understanding to her peers, and is a sweet young woman, but is still very much...peculiar, to say the least. Esp has a difficulty grasping most social norms, which can lead her to speaking a bit too much of her mind, sacrificing small animals in the name of her god, and generally struggling to interact without eccentricities.
Nevertheless, Esp is a kind soul who is eager to experience the novelties of school, and is fiercely loyal and stubborn towards what- or who- she believes in.
Crush:
Any cute necromancing boys that respect her culture, and all the rather...unsavory details involved in it.
Skills:
- A highly skilled necromancer for her age, as a result of being taught her craft since she was a young child.
- Has a fair amount of talent in Blood Magic for the same reason, and a limited amount of skill in Familiar Summoning.
- While not planning to go into Healing, Esperanza also possesses strong knowledge of the human body, and can patch up wounds in a pinch.
Weaknesses:
- Has little, if any, social skill.
- Is a smidge sexist towards male necromancers, believing wholeheartedly that women are naturally better than men at the arts of it.
- Esperanza has no experience in combat whatsoever, relying primarily on her magic for both offense and defense.
- Her devotion and loyalty is not always a good thing.
Brief History:
While many bloodlines can be considered “eccentric” by the standards of others, the Ciervo lineage is one of the more strange ones. Based in rural Mexico, the Ciervos are a line of Necromancers that found their start back when the Mayans were still alive and well. They have made a name for themselves for their rather interesting community- a cult by their own creation, based around the worship of the Lady Death. The methods have ranged from cannibalism to live human sacrifice in the past, although due to the intervention of other magical groups, they have tampered these practices down for the most part.
The cult rounds to about a few hundred members in modern times, and is a primarily matriarchal society led by La Hijas de la Muerte: The Daughters of Death. As the name would imply, the Daughters are a group made up of exclusively female necromancers chosen as young girls from the Ciervo line, who are seen as the leaders and guardians of the cult. It is their job to organize and perform the various sacraments, rituals and ceremonies the cult performs in their god’s name, overlook and make decisions, tend to the bodies within the public crypt, and protect their community from harm.
Esperanza was one such girl, having been chosen as a young child after an incident involving the channeling of her great-grandmother’s spirit. She was promptly whisked away to reside with the other Daughters, and, while tutored in the basics of learning, her education was primarily focused around learning control of her own developing powers, varieties of blood wards, preparation of cadavers, and so on and so forth. While allowed to roam the grounds of the cult and visit family, most of her time was spent in the crypts. For the most part, Esp was content with this life, albeit somewhat lonely.
When the invitation to Marchand first went out, the cult initially refused vehemently, more content to protect its own than risk sending out one of their own- and one of their strongest, at that. However, as the disappearances grew closer and closer to their boundaries, they eventually relented, sending one of the few Daughters that fit into the age range: Espie.
While nervous about leaving her home, Esperanza is very much excited as well, eager to be treated as a regular girl and make a few friends.
Full Name:
Dawn Ravenna Memoli
Nicknames/Aliases:
N/A
Age:
16
Gender:
Female
Primary:
Trickery
Student
Secondaries of Interest
Shadow Step and Levitation
Description:
Dawn is a fairly small girl for her age, standing at about 4’11” when in boots, and with little muscle mass to speak of. Curves add some shape to her body, but for the most part, she is quite waifish in figure. She is pale, with a somewhat rounded face and large grey eyes. She has thick, wavy black hair that falls down to her chin, framing her face.
Clothing-wise, Dawn can typically be found in a grey coat, calf high boots, and either a skirt with tights, or a simple pair of slacks.
Personality:
Dawn is a soft spoken, mild mannered girl, friendly and benign by nature. Due to the nature of her bloodline, she makes an effort to be more empathetic and amiable- although she is not necessarily a yes-woman. There are times when her patience does run thin, and, in response, she will often become a tad snarky in her commentary. If pushed completely far, though, she will act frigid to the offender, avoiding or snapping at them throughout the duration of her temper. This is fairly uncommon, however. Most of the time, Dawn is polite, albeit fidgety and easily flustered if the right buttons are pressed.
Crush:
OPEN
Skills:
As a result of her Trickster lineage, Dawn has a decent amount of skill with her magic. Currently, she is able to turn herself- and others, for a limited duration of time- invisible, mimic a large range of voices, produce items as large as a tennis ball via sleight of hand, and a few other abilities.
Dawn is competent with a gun, and can shoot one with relative accuracy.
In addition to this, she is also somewhat fast on her feet.
Weaknesses:
Dawn is quite small for her age, and can be overpowered easily as a result.
She has difficulty in trusting others, and her stubbornness to do what needs to be done often leads to rather questionable actions.
Brief History:
Throughout history, the Memoli bloodline has made a somewhat unique- and fairly shifty- name for itself. Moderately young by the standards of other lineages, the Memolis made their beginnings in the city of Urbino, Italy, in the mid 1400s under one Fedrico da Montrefeltro. They served as condottieres- mercenaries by trade- until Montrefeltro’s death, and the war that followed. The Memolis remained in the condottiere business for a few more years, before moving, tossing away the honor that came with their old occupations, and becoming assassins. Through the use of their magic, they became rather infamous among the magical world, offering their service to the highest bidder.
The family did keep a few of their ways from the past, and, developing loyalties to certain other European bloodlines, settled and placed their roots. While they still made a living as paid killers for some time, they eventually branched off into other, less violent ways...although if evidence is to believed, not without dirtying their hands in the process. Rumor has it that in later years, the Memolis were affiliated with the mafia, although they deny the claim to this day.
Dawn was born as the second child to Darrien Memoli and his wife Julia, an American born Trickster. Given the wealth of the family, as well as a recent scandal involving the firstborn Allen (one that has caused the parents to reconsider dubbing him heir), Dawn has lived most of her life at the brunt of overprotection and grooming to live up to the Memoli name.
Admittedly, however, she is a tad embarrassed about her line- and the reputation that surrounds it.
Given her upbringing, Dawn was especially pleased to learn she was being sent to a more public school.
Particularly to show that the Memolis will not break a person’s kneecaps when provoked.
