A woman on the street saw them and gasped.
"He's not going to hurt Angel again, is he?!"

Angel blinked. She looked towards the woman and then back at the sorcerer. She narrowed her eyes again.

Marin grins. “And there he is.” She puts a hand on his shoulder. “You know who you are, Damocles.” She sighs and lets her hand fall back to her side. “I shall stay with you and help you to find him again. Maybe then we can both be happy.” She smiles.

He looks at the women and shakes his head. "I have no reason to hurt anyone." He turns to Marin, and smiles softly. "Thank you."

Marin blushes faintly and she smiles. “Of course. Now, is there somewhere I can escort you, ma’am?” She turns to Angel; she doesn’t like seeing the young woman out on the streets.

Angel sighed.
"I have nowhere to go. I WAS visiting my aunt and uncle until I heard what happened."
Her tone suggested someone with a broken heart.

He begins escorting the two women. "You can stay in my guestroom until you can get a proper home, if you want."

Marin nods with a frown. “I understand your upset. I think you might like to know that Emily and Jason are free and out there somewhere, probably with a marriage in the new future if it hadn’t already happened. Now, as for you.. have you considered buying yourself somewhere to live?”

Angel narrowed her eyes. She didn't trust the sorcerer and she blushed every time she looked at him. She blinked and glanced at Marin.
"I can't even afford a cheap apartment."

Marin nods and retrieves a pouch of gold treasure from her robes. She hands it to Angel. “Here. This should be enough for a decent home.”

Angel tried to force the pouch back into her hands. Her pride would not accept it.
"I do not want your charity!"
She was offended and now very angry once again.

"All I can offer without threatening others is my home."

Marin forces the pouch into Angel’s hands. “It’s not charity, and I’m not asking. Now if you’d stop being so stubborn and just take it you would help us all greatly.” Her tone is stern, with underlying kindness.

Angel shook her head.
"I can not accept something from someone who is friends with that...that...heartbreaker!"
Angel gasped when she realized what she said. She turned bright red.

He rubs his chin thoughtfully. "How am I a heart breaker?"

Angel narrowed her eyes. She teared up. She dropped the pouch. She looked ready to run off.

He looks at her with a deep, questioning gaze. "Wouldn't that require having loved them in the first place? No one's ever.....wanted me, in that way. So far as I know. But perhaps I'm just blind."

Marin picks up the pouch, and frowns as she puts everything together. She sighs. “I’m not friends with that cold-hearted beast of a man. The man I acquaint myself with wears his skin, yes, and their names match, but that seems to be the end of their resemblance.” She turns to Damocles. “You are blind.” She huffs through her nose. “What did he do?”

"Then Marin, why don't you look at my life, and ask what broke me?"

Angel sighed. She turned away.
"It was years ago. I...I thought he was nice, until he betrayed me."
A tear rolled down her cheeks.
"He broke his promise."
