Marin opens her mouth to ask the question, then she frowns when Angel speaks.

Angel glared at that. She pulled something out of her pocket. She tossed it at him. It hit him square in the chest before falling to the ground. It looked like a very old ring.

Marin’s eyes widen. “Is that... a wedding ring?”

[Shadow Dragon]

He picks up the ring, but he doesn't remember it. "I'm sorry, if I hurt you....but....I don't know you." He sounds shaken. "Why do I have no memory of this? I know this ring, I know your face. But I can't say from where. It feels like a half forgotten dream." He stumbles backwards. "What happened to me?" He sinks down his staff until he's kneeling on the ground, and whispers to himself. "Who am I?"

Angel kept her back to them. She was in tears. She muttered something.
'sounds like amnesia. too bad he doesn't have one of those mirrors that lets him see the past.'

Marin crouches by Damocles and she hugs him. “Shush. Your name is Damocles. Your powerful, but your not a monster. You’ve done questionable things because the search for more power possessed you, but that’s not who you are. Atone for you mistakes but don’t let them define you.” She looks up at Angel. “What happened?” she repeats.

He reaches out to his home, and summons the mirror. "Where did this ring come from? Why can't I remember her?" He wills the scrying magic to show him the things he's forgotten.

Marin sighs and stands.

[Shadow Dragon]

He looks at Marin, and asks, not just to the mirror, but to her, "Why did I never learn to appreciate what I had until it was gone?"

Marin sighs with a frown. “I wish I could tell you, but I didn’t know you at this time. I don’t even know what you had. Perhaps because you were so engaged in your search for power you didn’t realize what was right in front of you until it was too late.”

Angel sighed.
"He promised. He had my trust. I never felt so loved. Then...one day...he...ruined everything. All he cared about was power. I was practically living in an emotional cage ever since."
She summed it up.

[Shadow Dragon]

"I....needed power. I was told that I was worthless, a mistake, all my life. Something in me....broke. I just......wanted to prove them wrong."

Marin sighs. “I understand that. But there are other ways to gain power, they’re just not as obvious, but they last longer and they build you and the world around you instead of destroying anything it touches. Having someone that loves you, that thinks high enough of you to give you her heart, proves that your not a mistake.” She clears her throat slightly in an effort to dismiss the color on her cheeks.

"I got desperate. I made some stupid decisions, and it corrupted me."

Angel sighed. She muttered again.
'more than stupid'.
She narrowed her eyes. A tear rolled down her cheek.

He kneels down on the pavement. "I'm trying to remember. I want to be a better man. But.......I don't know how, anymore." His head drops down to his chest. "I don't deserve to live."

Marin sighs and rolls her eyes slightly. “Yeah no kidding.” She frowns at Angel. “If you won’t take the money at least let me give you info.” She gasps and at the last statement from Damocles, she slaps him and grabs his lapel, pulling him to his feet. “Pull your miserable self together! You don’t get to give in, you’ve caused too much pain! You have to atone for everything you’ve done, even if you don’t remember. As long as I’m alive I’m not letting you give up, you damn coward!” she seethes.

Angel shook her head.
"I wouldn't be able to believe it anyway."
She sighed. She frowned and teared up again.

[Shadow Dragon]

He doesn't flinch when she slaps him, and braces himself on his staff. "How? How can I fix all the pain I've caused, all the people I've hurt? Many of them are dead, because of my actions." He doesn't look at Angel, but he does respond to her. "You have no reason to."

Marin’s eyes flare. “You remember them, and what they taught you. You live for them, and you don’t run from what you did to them. I suggest you start with Angel.”
