He laughs. "Why don't you ask your parents? They're the ones who agreed to my deal."

Emily blinked. She frowned. She glared too.
"What are you talking about?!"

"Your parents took a deal I offered the town, years ago, before you were born. It was spelled out quite nicely on the papers."

Emily gasped. She glared. She shouted at him.
"Liar!"
She was in denial. She tried to run before he could do anything.

He reaches into his robes and pulls out a copy of the document they signed. "Am I?"

Emily looked at him. She glared. She charged forth. She tried to reach for it. She wanted and planned to tear it up.

He laughs, and catches her wrist as she grabs for it. He flexes his offhand, the document vanishing.

Mary gasped and glared. She tried to take back her wrist. She struggled to do so.
"Let go of me!"
She shouted nice and loud. She certainly was not quiet.

He lets go, and spins his staff. "Oh, I'm afraid no one can hear you." His hand fills with ethereal blue flames.

Emily glared. She struggled. She screamed. She didn't believe him. She felt that she had to keep trying. She did not want to, and could not, give up. She was also stubborn.

"Mmmm. You're a loud one." He laughs. "Can you hear anyone?" The darkness is as silent as the grave.

Emily glared. She teared up and continued to struggle.
"Let go of me!"
She repeated herself. She tried to hit him to get him to let go of her arm.

He lets go, and watches her.

Marin sits up on her new bed, sensing her master’s presence nearby.

Emily took back her arm. She ran off. She tried to get away. However, she could not find her way in the darkness. Then, after a few minutes, she bumped into what literally felt like a brick wall and fell to the ground.

Marin finishes her room and looks around, using her sense of Damocles’ power as her guide.

He chuckles. "You'll only hurt yourself by running." He spins his staff. "You want to ask your parents about it? Feel free." The darkness abruptly vanishes, but he's still standing a few feet from her.

Emily blinked. She prepared to yell. But, the darkness was gone. She looked around. She frowned with confusion as she noticed they were right in front of her house. The door was open. She stormed inside to tell her parents to lock the door, etc.

By then, Marin had gone back inside the house and in her room. She comes out when she hears frantic speech, her curiosity piqued. Emily’s parents are baffled and hesitantly obey after trying to sooth her. Marin leans against the wall, waiting for a perfect time to enter.

Emily was in disbelief over what her parents confessed. She was furious as well. She could not believe that they would do something like that. What parents offered their daughter as a bride to some villain like that? Not to mention before she was even born! She was feeling very betrayed, etc.
