@BenG85 There's still something about the character, on which I can't quite put my finger, that doesn't really click. Could be the concept itself, since the refinements don't seem to have cleared anything up when it comes to me feeling the character for the RP.
Hmmm... I happen to have different, less "grimdark" concept I could easily whip up, trying for reliability, instead? I can't help but feel like what I've been working up is maybe a little too dark, even compared to the other, similarly serious characters. Maybe that's the problem?
Ah, I see... Well, I went ahead and re-imagined the character, anyway. Trying for reliability, this time- it would have been my first choice, anyway! ^_^U
Complete change of background, and a lot less mean. Still not great, but, much less mean, I think.
Appearance: Shoulder length wavy dark brown hair, combed back, blue eyes, freckles, black t-shirt under a denim jacket. blue jeans, black steel toed boots. Broad shoulders, lean but non athletic build, stands about 5'9". High cheek bones, clean shaven.
Bio: "Monty", as friends called him, didn't have a childhood that was particularly good or bad, his over-protective father was too eager to make excuses for him, and, he took it to heart. Nothing was ever his fault, and he carried that attitude into his teen years. He didn't take much of anything seriously; he always shirked his chores around the house, He had a gold fish graveyard in the backyard, and struggled in school. It wasn't for lack of learning; he always managed to pull through and move up a grade like normal. He just didn't take it seriously, and had an answer for everything. That was something he had in common with his father, his mother couldn't help but notice. His parents fought a lot, and eventually, his dad's answer to his marital troubles was to leave. Monty thought he'd go live with him, eventually, but, he always had a reason why now wasn't a good time. By age 15, after a difficult conversation with his mom, and 2 years of his dad's excuses, he decided his dad wasn't the kind of man he wanted to be. He managed to graduate high school on time, but, his mom got sick. So, thinking on what he thought his dad might do, he did the opposite and stuck around. She insisted she'd be fine with a live-in caregiver, but he wouldn't hear it. She'd need additional financial support, even with insurance, so, he got a job, and has been working ever since, occasionally struggling with decisions, fearful of taking a "wrong turn" and letting people down. He still messes up, sometimes, and is very hard on himself when he does. Sometimes, he actually creates problems for himself, pursuing objectives beyond the point where others would have, reasonably, cut their losses and let it go, just to prove to himself that he's better than his father.
My Digimon
Personality: A grounded sort; when Monty starts beating himself up, or overreacting, Terriermon talks him back down to reality.
@BenG85 I've come to a realization; You're not as much making characters with a problem with their Crest, you're making characters for whom it'd take a miracle to develop in that way. @Zelosse Give a submission a shot. Who knows, you could come up with something interesting.
Hmmm... You know, I think I misunderstood what you were looking for, with the characters. I'll keep working at it, until I get it right, or somebody else get's the part :P I'm thinking about this all wrong, that's clear now. Thanks for the input and feedback @tobiax
So @Zelosse, who is an awesome friend, by the way, was willing to give up his spot to me, but I instead pitched the idea that I play as his Digimon. He thought it was a great idea, so I just want to make sure that the GMs are okay with it. He's also let me know that there is an implied need for water Digimon, so I am aware of this and intend to make my Digimon accordingly.
