For Ames, the last couple of days had been very exciting. They weren't filled with danger or adventure, but instead: possibilities. The day after obtaining her Nuclei, Ames had toured the Sweet Maid and generally basked in the establishment's aura. She inspected every part of it, from the kitchen to the bedrooms to Britomart's clothes. Especially her squire's clothes - as the proprietor, Ames fully planned on either finding a matching outfit or hiring a tailor. Eventually she was going to lean into this part of the game, because... well, it was fun. If she had been embarrassed at first, telling Sean and the others about how excited she was to explore the Nuclei, the feeling was quickly wiped away when she logged back in.

She'd parked the inn outside of Nyu-Taro and spent the in-game nights there, inviting the rest of her party to do the same, though with all of them spread out and pursuing their own things it wasn't likely they were all in the same place for long. Besides that, Britomart turned out to be a poor chef, and Ames wasn't much better - she could cook an egg and flip a pancake, but any fancier breakfasts were left to Raime if he so chose to try and cook with his one-armed avatar. Today, though, Ames packed the Maid away. The morning was spent mulling over whether to keep it safe or to move it closer to the battlefield, maybe make some money renting the rooms out... after she'd been reminded that the war was something the party was intending on 'doing.'

After passing through the gates into the city with Britomart, the crest on Ames' hand flashed and the squire faded out of existence, back to wherever she and the inn rested while not summoned to the material world.

Soon enough the circle of friends came together. Ames had shed the cloak she'd been wearing now that she was more or less happy with how her avatar looked. Balancing fashion and function was a bit tricky, but she thought she had a decent grasp on it now. The edge of the haori, her most prized piece of equipment, fluttered gently behind her as she moved. It's long sleeves swayed with the movement of her arms, the opalescent phantom bangles peeking through from time to time. The haori was tied around the waist, covering up most of her chest - though the top showed plenty enough to see the necklace of bone she'd been wearing since almost day one. A cute cat earring pierced one ear, which was new. The shin guards and sandals she wore were a deep fiery red that bled upwards into the scarlet embroidery of the haori. All in all, it was decent look.

Ames stood with one hand on her hip, about to ask the all important question: what the hell were they going to do next? Were they going to split up or support one clan over the other? There were things left undone, mysteries she still wanted to solve, but she wanted to see what her friends were thinking. However, her voice was drowned out by an engine's roar, and she blinked in surprise when an unfamiliar man approached them. He was acting awfully friendly... but... oh, wait, was it...?

"Russ?" Ames guessed. That rugged guy that never posted any pics in their chat, wasn't it? He had said something about going on a trip and not having internet access for a while, but suddenly meeting up with him in the game was pretty surprising.

Ames smiled at the man. With so many disappearances within their party, it would be cool to have another person join them—— aaaaand nevermind, he'd immediately stated his intent to go off on his own. The red haired swordsman scoffed and pinched the bridge of her nose. She had to get used to this. She took a deep breath and took a look at whatever Russ - or Leif - was holding.

"I dunno, don't think I've seen it before," Ames shrugged. "Oh, and I'm Amelia if you couldn't tell. I guess it's nice of you to drop in and say hi."

She was kind of curious about what kind of trouble he could have gotten into in such a relatively short amount of time, but there was something else she was more curious about. "Uh, what do you mean 'locked in' to your path? Can that really happen?" Was she going to have to worry about somehow getting stuck in one of the paths she'd picked up?

Amulak al Acturus (Stanislaw)
HP: 2370/2370 MP: 5040/5040 SP: 460/460
Character Sheet

Honestly, the last few days had been a blast. The massive surge in levels they'd all gotten from taking out so many gyunin at once meant that Amulak was a decent enough level to start being a contender in PvP. And boy did he dive straight into that shit. Outside of kicking back and relaxing with Ames and the rest of the gang at the inn when he could, he'd just been going ape in arenas.

"Hey, asshole!" A jovial voice cried out, not particularly hostile despite his choice of words. "You queueing up tonight?"

"Fuck you, and maybe!" Amulak called back to a familiar face. He'd gone up against that one a good few times in the arena, and they'd developed something of a friendly rivalry as a result. "Friends calling meeting, might be questing tonight instead!"

"Lame. The only other necro in our bracket isn't half as fun to go against. Well, don't let me hold you up then. Get going, pussy."

Amulak flipped the other PvPer off in response as he left, continuing to make his way towards the designated meeting point. That was the other thing. Apparently all that PvP meant he'd started making a name for himself. As much as Amulak wanted to outright join the Mora-Sho, he didn't want to ditch his friends. In terms of the current conflict, only Klein was really interested in the Gakui-Re, but it didn't seem anyone else wanted to go Mora-Sho. Which meant that even past this war, any future wars would be troublesome to deal with if others found out he was questing with rival clan members. What a pain.

As they all met up, Amulak found himself about to voice the same question that, unbeknowst to him, Ames was about to as well. But before either could say anything, they were cut off by...a fucking motorcycle?

Well, at least Russ finally deigned to get his ass online.

"Look who it is!" Amulak called out in his exaggerated, game-assisted Slavic accent. You know, despite the fact that he spoke English at a more than proficient level. "World-traveling gigachad finally get ass online at decent hour! I still say bullshit you actually traveling. Probably stay in Thailand and pay for ladyboys." He chuckled, giving Russ a good ribbing as he was used to. "Is Stanislaw, if you can't tell already. How does shit be so far? Enjoying game?"

Despite being dead while the others farmed, Mags managed to be the highest level out of all of the goobers. As if as a cruel joke for her sacrifices, she gained a rare item that allowed her to die. In addition to this, she moved with a newfound sense of grace and dexterity. Of course, this wasn't because of her increase to AGI and DEX. An odd side-effect of having the strength of over a hundred men lead to Mags feeling like a metaphorical giant in an ant's world. She actually had to put in effort to not rip a door off its hinges or chip the ground with a stubbed toe. Thus, every step had to be deliberate. Otherwise, the property damage would have slain her meager savings.

If Ames appeared in the plaza as a princely warrior of summer flame, Mags was the seedy daughter of a crime lord. She was the type of ojou-sama that responded with a concrete bath instead of ohohos. Every ounce of her being radiated strength. Her confidence was astounding, considering that half of her outfit was the nevernude option. She had so much strength that even her chest could barely be bound by something as mere as cloth.

Though, that was actually the result of her items instead.

"Hello and goodbye, nerd." She said to the new arrival and departure of their ragtag group. "Good luck with fighting... people who wear badges?" She didn't recognize the symbol at all. Though, that was mostly because she spent the last IRL days doing nothing murder beasts and monsters. If the ecosystem was close to real life, she would have probably been a one woman extinction event.

"Any of you guys pick what side you're going to do? I'll probably just end up following one of you because I don't care who I end up punching at this point." She said, speaking like a true brute. She didn't really have too good clue of the political situation, either. After all, she was the type of person to skip every cutscene just to reach the fights a little faster.

It kinda bummed him out that both Theresa and Lew couldn't reconcile their differences and opted to drop out of their discord, but they did what they have to do to keep the drama turning into another noodle incident. Regardless they had to march onward and hope that they're doing fine themselves. But it was time for Raime to get used to his newfound skills and goodies.

Practicing a weapon such as his gunsawkatana was pretty daunting with only one arm. But after watching a few move set and combo videos of a certain one armed Devil Hunter made training with it way more easy than winging it on his own. Soon enough he'd pull off complicated combos as if it were his second nature. Sadly he couldn't do the same with his alchemy. Real world chemistry applied itself in the world of CaCo but vast majority of the materials he was working with was alien to him. The one armed man is eternally grateful to those random alchemist guides he found online. But all that hard work wouldn't amount to anything if he couldn't apply it to practice. What better place to do that but in the battlefield in the upcoming war? He really should have felt bad for even thinking about that...but wearing the mask made it easier for him to accept that cutting down another player would be more interesting than cutting down another enemy npc.

God. Is this game slowly turning him into a psychopath? Nah.

He was brought back to reality by the sound of...an engine? He turned his head to the source of the sound he was hearing and couldn't help but smile underneath his mask. "Well I'll be damned. Russ, long time no see or speak for that matter. Guess you finally got a good enough connection in Tanzania, huh? Regardless glad to have you back." The man would snicker at Stanislaw's comment regarding Russ getting tired of travelling the world and settled somewhere in Thailand railing some ladyboy's ass. The happy moment was cut off by Mags, being Mags, doing her own thing and basically giving a not-so-subtle threat. Raime shrugged, he'd learned quickly that it'd be best for his mental health to just let the brutish woman go do whatever the fuck she wants. "Sorry Russ, no clue with the symbol. Plus, can't join you in your vengeance quest; been rearing to participate in this event for a while now. I didn't join in any clan, so no loyalties here." That was a lie. Raime leaned heavily towards the Ryoku-Jo and would be more likely to do jobs for them than any other faction offering. "but there's profit to be made and I suggest we take opportunities before the city state decides that it doesn't like fence sitters and kicks us on our asses."

Leif grunted in annoyance at the group not knowing a thing about the symbol. At the same time, he hasn't really seen them in a while, so he isn't about to go out of his way and leave just like that. After all, he spent all this time grinding so he could play with them. "Well, not that it matters too much. I'll look for it later. Oh, and fuck you guys, haha!" Leif laughed at the banter from his group, flipping the bird to Amulak appropriately. "Yeah, I'm touring around Africa. Not in Thailand, haven't been to the Southeast in a while. Can't stand the water there. Gave me the shits. Things have been going solid tho, might be heading home, in about a week from now." Leif said, knowing he's got finals that week and would probably need an excuse for his absence.

"And nah, I figured you were a catfish this entire time" Leif quipped at Ames, knowing he is also treading dangerous waters here. "But what do you mean? Are you saying you can pick up other classes? Fuck me, I've been playing this game thinking I'm stuck with being a wolf this entire time!

"Well, if you guys hadn't picked a side yet, I'm fine with fucking around for now so long as we don't lock in anything just yet. Want to get a feel for the different factions and all. So we're going in as mercs? Or are we gonna wait around for places where some of the lower-levels will be and fuck their shit up the old-fashioned way?"

"I say mercenary work. We get paid and renown while getting a good chance for us to do some PVP." Raime said as he patted the hilt of his chainsawkatanagun. "Kinda off tangent, but was that motorcycle your nuclei? Pretty damn awesome one if I do say so myself. Mine basically covers my left arm with near indestructible armor and can turn into a roided-up buster rifle. Kind of makes me feel like Guts sometimes to be honest." The scout demonstrated the arm cannon function of Claiomh Solais without actually firing the thing. "...but I digress. We really ought to find someone that's hiring mercenaries like us so we can get into this event before things go full swing during the war."

Well, Mags and Raime got to the point he'd wanted to make. What to do? What side to take? Amulak knew what he wanted, but as for whether the others would go for it, that was up in the air. Still, might as well try if they were all making their cases now.

"I think you guys know what the fuck I want to do. Very obvious, yes? Take Mora-Sho side, go PvP hard. However, I do not want to be dickhead that breaks up group. If you guys want to do merc work, I will do merc work and join Mora-Sho some other way." Hopefully, he'd get want he wanted. Realistically, there was no chance in hell.

Amulak turned his attention back to the conversation, joining in.

"Africa, huh? When you visiting Poland anyway? Come to Krakow, we get drunk." He turned to Leif, flipping him off right back. "Anyways, yes, dumbass, you can change classes. Build multiple off each other. You grind how much and not realize this?

Klein

HP 3010/3010 SP 500/500 MP 0/0 Shield 0

"Alright, listen to this." Klein talked to the group as he showed an image he was able to capture during his relationship grinding missions chain. In the image, a giant, accompanying a group of people of various appearance, was traveling across an old jungle. But the most noticing thing was not about how Klein was flexing his muscle with one of the fellow travelers, harassing the twink with his god chiseled eight packs, but the rows of wooden coffin behind them. Despite coming with various shape, size and engraving, the coffins convoy stretch beyond the narrow mountain paths and disappear under the banyan's shade.

"Looks, I think the Mora-Sho had a secret class." Klein points to one of the image before looking at Amulak. "And if we raised enough relationship with them, it would be open to us!"

Still, convincing Amulak alone is not enough. Mag, Ames, and Raime had also grown considerable during these last few days. Leif on the other hands was more of a mystery as Klein have no idea what he do. Wolf- calling? Druid? Nevertheless, persuading them for the cause would certainly increased Klein and Amulak's chance to receive this class. Although it is a low level class, it is still rare. It gotta have something special about it for it to be so rare.
"And based on my in-game research with the Gakui-re, it is the "dead soldier. A rare class. But that is as much as I know." Klein shrugged, expectingly looking at the others. Amulak are sure gonna go for Mora-Sho. The others are just looking to make some quick bucks and dip to other regions.

For all the maneuverings and machinations that the party planned on doing in order to not lock themselves into any particular clan too early, in the end, only Amulak offered a concrete plan of action, one that more or less encompassed the disparate yet ambiguous desires of the rest of the party.

With the necromancer at the helm, the group headed not for the board that everyone else had been congregating towards, but rather for the sector of Nyu-Taro where clan recruitments were established. While the five buildings that dominated the plaza were always ostentatiously designed and filled with interested Immortals, this time around, there was a particularly feverish atmosphere in the air. War was coming, and while the main influx of Immortals to the area were focused either on the Mora-Sho or the Tato-Ie, the sheer traffic meant that other clans had a good chance of snagging passersby. Only the Gakui-Re, perhaps characteristically so, made no special effort to join, but from clockwork contraptions to crystal-vid depictions of swordmasters, both the San-Li and the Ryoku-Jo Riens were working overtime to draw attention to their own clans.

But Immortals were a capricious, war-like bunch, especially the ones that had decided to choose such a volatile country to establish their foundations in, and more than that, those who gravitated towards this particular war were interested in one thing in particular.
Being on the winning side of the conflict.

After all, the Mora-Sho were historically in the shitter, and while the Tato-Ie weren’t a massive player themselves, they were tough enough from clashing with the Ryoku-Jo that they could certainly take the Mora-Sho out. And if they were going to do so…well, there was certainly going to be a lot of natural, financial, and human resources up for grabs in the aftermath. Why not work for a slice of the pie, rather than join a sinking ship of a faction?

That, of course, was not the logic that drew the party to the clan recruitment office of the Mora-Sho clan. Dark timbers constructed the austerely-designed building, and wreaths of spider lilies offered splashes of sanguine vibrance over top it. Standing at the sides of the entrance were two friendly-looking skeletons, moving in accordance to some ancient dance popularized by a spinoff of a game involving modern-day phantom thieves, while what could be spied of the interior of the building had more to do with the past glories of the clan juxtaposed against its present sufferings. Scroll paintings of necromancers raising armies, of warriors who removed themselves from the cycles of life and death, of lives enriched by the knowledge that death was not the end, all painted a tale of a clan that could rise once again in power, the story of an underdog with a counterpunch.

Of course, there was also a sign that read:

“lmao if you’re not mora-sho you’re a fucking pussy. imagine playing on anything other than hard mode”

And holding onto that sign was a familiar face.

Well, not a face, exactly.

Shaped like a yam, with chainmail showing beneath a patchwork cloak from which copious amounts of talismans were nailed, a man with a weathered face, his features mostly hidden by the umbrella-shaped hat he wore, turned one beady eye up at them.

“Sup? Here to start fucking up casuals?”

The deliberation on what to do wasn't so much of a deliberation as it was five assholes standing conflicted around one amiable but focused person. So, they went with Amulak's preference: Mora-Sho, especially after Klein divulged there might be some hidden class available with that clan. As far as Ames remembered, Mora-Sho was the zombie clan. The underdogs. The spooky necromancy stuff she could take or leave, much more of it and she will have had her fill. On the other hand, who didn't like rooting for the little guy? So fence-sitters they were no more, and the group jostled through the crowd around Nyu-Taro's plaza toward the Mora-Sho recruitment office.

Alright so if this clan loses a lot it's members must die a lot, right? So let's set up the Sweet Maid on the edge of their territory. Not too far but not like, right in the thick of things. Our group can use it as a... base camp or something, and then we can just charge other people that want to use it. You got all that, Bri?

"Yes, sir."

Once they were close enough to the office that they could make out the details of it, the first thing Ames noticed was of course the mascots outside.

"Aaaaw, they're cute," she cooed, watching the skeletons dance. Ames hadn't checked out any of the clan offices, she hadn't been interested in joining a clan at all. Still wasn't really, but now that they were here she could see the little details that showed off the Mora-Sho's history and aesthetic. She'd have to look at the others another time, if just for fun.

Out front there was a man holding a sign that clashed horribly with the booth itself. Ames grimaced when she read it. It was 2038 (or something) but trash talk like that never really changed, huh? Her eyes drifted down to the man under the sign, but his vegetable-like appearance sparked no recognition in her. She had completely purged him from her mind, probably for good reason, and when he spoke she raised one red eyebrow.

"Are you doing registration?" she asked, a tinge of suspicion in her voice. Did this kind of recruitment campaign really work, a dude with a vaguely insulting sign? She looked around to see if that was really the case, because if so she would be shocked. The Mora-Sho might be in need of a PR agent. As for the man's question itself, well... Ames was pretty much a casual, so she didn't even answer. She could probably guess what the rest of her party would have to say, though.

While they waled to the Mora-Sho clan recruitment office Raime kinda wished he suggested them to join with the Ryoku-jo earlier. Seeing as the rest of the group had easily agreed with Klein to join the weaker clan, he could have just as easily suggested to the group that they join the side with the winner of the Rinkan Annihilation Tournament and steampunk power armored samurai with chainsawkatanaguns. Eh, pointless to whine about what is already done. But it really didn't surprise him. The group had a knack for getting into situations where the odds were heavily stacked against them...the one armed man just hoped that their decision to work with the Mora-Sho would be a lucrative one at the very least. If they were going to fight for the losing side of this war, the clan should at least give the players who sided with them compensation for trying.

"I guess?" Raime replied to Ames' comment regarding the dancing skeletons. It was a rather macabre sight in his realistic perspective, but he guessed there was something akin to gap moe or something. The sign berating those who didn't join the clan of necromancers got a brief chuckle out of the man. He should have known that a number of hardcore gamers would welcome the hardcore difficulty that came with joining the Mora-Sho clan with open arms. He'd soon focus his attention to the Yam man that asked them if they were here to fuck shit up. "Depends. Got any work for semi-reliable sellswords like us?" Raime says while he tried to rack his mind into remembering this tuber shaped fellow.

To be honest, the Mora-Sho was one of Leif's least favorite factions. They were the underdogs of the war, weak and crippled with low expectations of winning. Their lore was also edgy as fuck, seeing as they were corpsefuckers and all that. Probably smell, too, not that Leif had any right to complain about it since he smelled like wet dog most of the time. As far as Leif was concerned, he was more interested joining one of the more popular factions, one where he would get recognition from all. Still, seeing that the small majority of the group leaned towards working for the Mora-Sho, Leif decided to hop on the bandwagon at least for now. A few of his friends were excited about the faction, and it wasn't his place to tell them their choice was wrong or anything.

Leif was a bit worried about if his Shaman powers would diminish if he joined the Mora-Sho given the implications of his class clashing with that of the faction. Don't druids hate necromancers, anyway? Leif wasn't too worried about it, however, seeing as it'd be more of a reason to reset from here. If he knew he didn't have to be a shaman from the start, he would've taken that option long ago. Could've taken some sick-ass Wuxia shit or something, maybe go into full magic seeing as there was only a whopping one mage in the party. It'd mean starting from the beginning again, but it wasn't like grinding was too much of a slog for Leif. At this point of his schooling, he's starting to realize trying to maintain a good GPA was mostly a waste of time anyway. Having more time for his hobbies wouldn't necessarily hurt.

Once they made it to the camp, Leif cringed a little at the skeletons dancing, and even more at the tryhard sign. Faction was really starting to give him some sweaty vibes, especially with a squeaker at the front desk. That aside, the clan's aesthetic wasn't actually all that bad in all honesty. Still wasn't a clan Leif felt like swearing himself off to yet, but it wasn't too unbearable.

"Hell yeah we are! Fucking shit up is our specialty." Leif said as he looked up to the kid, with a cocky grin, before crossing his arms and getting straight to the point. "We're looking for work as mercs for now. We aren't looking to tie ourselves down just yet. I'm not a fan of commitment, if you know what I mean." Leif giggled, knowing with confidence that the kid does not know what he means. "But nah, we're just here since the other clans are full of weak-as-shit noobs. Don't want them dragging us down or anything. They probably play with automatic combat on, those fucking casuals..."

With their path decided by the one person who decided to suggest something (as many paths are decided), the gang went to join up with the Mora-Sho.

Mags wasn't exactly a Rise Deadman type like Amulak nor was she a logistics icon like Ames. Her value to the Mora-Sho would lie almost exactly with her stats. She could probably punch holes through people at this point. It would make her a good soldier. Plus, if she died, her dead body could probably be used to punch more holes. Though, she'd prefer not to die during this event. She wanted loot, after all.

With the rest of the gang approaching the familiar talis-man, Mags had no reason to converse. 3 of them were already talking to him. Would be a bit weird to mindflood him with her asking the exact same thing. She just took the position of the group's muscle. She looked menacing. Well, as menacing as a woman without pants unable to reach 5' could be. She was just emitting negative waves for the man to collect.

She could have brought up the man saying see you never to them, but he'd probably not remember and she'd just look like a massive loser for bringing it up.

Well, shit. Amulak hadn't realized he was the only one with a concrete plan of action in mind on what to do. While that was a relief for him getting what he wanted, he couldn't help but feel like a bit of a dick for having the group go his way. Oh, well. If there was a problem, someone would vocalize it eventually and they could work it out. Probably. It was the current year, would someone really be enough of a passive-aggresive dickhead to keep their issues to themselves until shit boiled over? Naaaaaah.

Everything leading up to the recruitment office reinforced the belief that at the very least, the Mora-Sho were definitely the clan for Amulak himself. The sign was fucking hilarious on its own. The recruitment officer just had Amulak nodding and grinning.

"Of course I am!" Amulak cackled Slavically. "Want to start getting into world PvP, not just arena. You have initiation test or some shit?"

And while the guys were busy with bombarding the recruiter with their messages and questions, Klein ventured inside the clan office to see what is inside. Usually, there are more to be expected coming from a clan. Its associated perks, daily quests for clan contribution, clan contribution store, exchange,... Klein needs to know if "Dead Soldier" is even open to exchange. If it is deadlock into a something like a clan leader requirement to be open, he would just be a merc then. But then again, maybe he would still stick with these guys, seeing how going solo this low level is basically a dead wish.

“Does it look like I’m doing anything else?” the yam-shaped man said in a vaguely mocking tone towards Ames. He regarded the other three in the party with various amounts of indifference, his free hand moving up to stroke his chin. The gunslinger was an odd one, playing with only one arm, but the other two looked like the sort of gamers that Mora-Sho wouldn’t particularly benefit from in the long run…not that he was the type the clan would benefit from either.

Still, wartime was wartime, and work was work.

“Y’all talk big shit for a buncha sub-500s,” he laughed, “But hey, this is a low-enough value war to get started in anyways, so why the hell not? No initiation test or anything, cause y’all are too weak for any main line defense, so let’s see…”
He rummaged through the folds of his patchwork cloak, before pulling out a collection of wooden tablets tied together by a braided rope. Flipping through them quickly, the eccentric of a man pulled out three of them and handed it out to Amulak. “Small beans stuff, honestly, but also low liability if you just claim that you’re bandits or something. Don’t call yourselves Gakui-Re if ya don’t wanna be iced though. Keep the boards with ya; I don’t really care which ones you do, but they’ll track what work you ultimately end up do so, like, yeah.”

He nodded sagely a couple of times.

“Happy hunting. Don’t bitch when you spend more time in respawn than in-game, yeah?”

Klein’s browsing of the clan’s office didn’t reveal as much as he’d have liked. While becoming a member of the Mora-Sho clan did come with some benefits, mainly discounts in clan-affiliated stores and a free pass through the city-state, it appeared that greater benefits only occurred when one became a trusted member of the clan, something that could only be achieved by endorsements through the Rien leaders. Rather than the MMORPG guilds that he was accustomed to, it looked more like a political party that handed out more violent work for its members, and while mentions of specialized necromancy techniques did pop up in places, the term ‘Dead Soldier’ never showed up in any of the posters that the mountainous man looked through.

It appeared that whatever this Job was, it wasn’t something advertised by the Mora-Sho.

After reading through the mission details on each of the wooden boards and engaging in vigorous debate about the pros and cons of each job, ultimately Amulak’s desire for mayhem and brutality was overturned by the near-unanimous decision to attack the supply lines that would connect the main body of the Tato-Ie army back to the city-state they’ve pursued. Weapon durability and the need for potions meant that even fully-stocked item pouches were liable to run out during a campaign, and while Immortals could certainly afford expensive item pouches that bent the rules of space, getting one for every Rien in an army that numbered to the tens of thousands was a bigger problem.

A problem, naturally, solved by Immortals who did supply runs that allowed them to travel light while carrying inordinate amounts of goods.

That was the party’s main target in this situation: creating a PvP ‘blockade’ in key geographical regions between the Tato-Ie army and their city-state in order to intercept any Immortal couriers before they could off-load supplies onto the army itself. While none of the party possessed any Thief skills that would allow them to actually empty the contents of an Immortal’s inventory, 20% of all goods within an inventory, including currency, would drop upon death by another player, which meant a tidy profit even when exempting the commission fee they earned for every supplier party they sent back to the Keystone.

The main issue then, was twofold: how to prepare and how to intercept. With superhuman capabilities came superhuman traversal, after all, and the land that stretched from the Jinto Mountain Range to the Plains of Repentance was vast and varied. What would be the best way then, to track down and take down other gamers?

Raime would have liked to go hunt down an enemy Rien officer and interrogated the higher up for info on the routes the supply runners would have taken but after Leif explained to them that he could turn his head into a wolf's head, he could likely track down the scent of players. He'd just hoped that Leif's wolf sense of smell was just as good as a blood hound's if they intend to track players in such a wide expanse of land such as this. No sense in worrying about it now, they were on site and preparing to intercept enemy players.

The one armed scout was rather glad that they were still in the Nyu-Taro region of the world. He'd only recently got familiar with the region's alchemically useful flora and fauna. The supply couriers would be, no doubt, exceptionally fast and nimble. He would need to create a countermeasure for that. Gathering all the poisonous plants and fungi he could find, Raime uses his alchemy skills to create whatever nasty poisons he could make from the materials he had gathered. Once he created the base poisons, he would go on to share the created poisons to his companions. "I'm not sure if this will be of any use to you, but make sure you have a coating of it on your weapons before PvP starts. It'll debuff their stats enough to make killing them a little easier on us." The man says before coating the teeth of his Chihanashi Mk. II as well as a number of the bullets the weapon uses in its [Handcanon] form. "Hopefully none of the players we encounter has poison resistance or something. That would suck."

The rugged mountainside and the wide plains were both a sight for sore eyes for Leif, who had quickly found a way to tie his bike into their schemes. While hunting and tracking down other players would be a bit of a headache for the average Immortal, it was here where Leif's abilities as a Wolf Shaman would truly shine. One of the wolf's strongest aspects was their sense of smell, after all, and Leif was able to tap into that ability perfectly, capable of snuffing out the weak and the bloodied for his pals to make quick work of. Not only that, but the terrain was perfect for Leif to show off the limits of his new toy to his friends.

"If we're going too fast, just hold on tight, Ames!" Leif hollered to his passenger as he procured a handful of lotus roots. They were simple mana restorative herbs scavenged in the Pearl Bloom, and served both as a nice snack as well as a good way to keep his mana stores decent in distance rides. He would need them to be ready for combat, after all, seeing as he was about to chew up a good portion of his MP with what he's about to do. Shoving some of the roots in his mouth, Leif revved up Arion's engines as he prepared for his trek throughout the mountains and into the plains. At an instant, the lower half of Leif's face morphed into that of a wolf's snout, the Shaman letting out an excited howl before accelerating at an instant. The scent of blood filled his nostrils as he quickly caught onto many different trails, following those of the most bloodied.

The plan was simple: ride around a perimeter of the designated PvP zone, getting as much trails as he could, before closing in on those who are particularly low on HP. Ganking those who are already weaker would be easy earnings for the gang seeing as their only goal is to kill the supply runners for their loot. And if they happen to come across any other Mora-Sho, it'd be good to coordinate with them to learn of any other easy pickings in the area, as well as any threats they'd need to keep an eye out for. Of course, the main downside to this plan was that Leif would end up with heavily reduced MP in whatever fight they find themselves in, but it didn't matter too much to him. Even without MP, he was still capable of holding out his own due to the sheer versatility the Shaman class had to offer him. If anything, he'd be just as useful barking out orders as he would be blasting the few spells he has to his team.

Perhaps he should figure out ways to boss his pals around more easily...

Supply chains were an important part of war. At least, that's what Mags thought. Read in an internet comment on some site, rather. She wasn't exactly a strategic mastermind or logistician. What she did have, however, was a stupid ape amount of strength condensed into a miniscule body. Plus, she had a lot of crowd control. Where Raime had poison applied to the group's weapons, Mags had a protein shake for herself.

Her own strategy was simple enough. Find and intercept a group for the rest of the party. Once she found them, she would flex her brain then go for a sanguine burst that would knock everything around her prone and smash the face of whoever looked like a healer. Or, at the very least, whoever looked like they could be one shot. Mags' brutal strength alongside her humanoid damage increases would allow her to brutalize someone quickly and efficiently. Unfortunately, that brutal strength increase also meant that she was at risk if they weren't knocked prone.

Amulak al Acturus (Stanislaw)
HP: 2370/2370 MP: 5040/5040 SP: 460/460
Character Sheet

Raiding supply lines was alright, Amulak supposed. He still really wanted to go burn down some villages instead, but apparently simulated video game atrocities just didn't sit well with the others. Oh, well. There's always next time.

His own part in the group's battle tactics was exactly how he liked it. Sit back, make minions, and take advantage of the fact that he'd implanted Weishaupt into Leif to use his mobility as a scout. Now he wasn't playing a MMO, he was playing a RTS. Stanislaw was in his element. Anything that Leif saw, he'd deploy his minions alongside the guy's wolves as bait before moving in for the kill. Plus, Amulak could still contribute even hanging back, since Weishaupt let him cast through the implantee as a conduit.

[Party]: How's it feel being a zergling, Leif? I feel like I'm back in fucking IEM again, like the good old days.

Amulak typed through text chat, keeping a watchful eye out even from his camping hiding spot.
