Trying to make a living in the universe is harsh.

When you're a teenage crew flying the stars on a stolen ship, smuggling goods to the impoverished and getting caught up in intergalactic space battles, things tend to get out of hand. One moment you're finding ancient ruins on an abandoned planet, the next you're being shot at by Imperial troops eager to collect a bounty. It's a rough life out there, but through the power of friendship, you'll surely get through the thick and thin and maybe make the universe a better place while you're at it.

=====

Hey guys; this is an incredibly basic concept with heavy sandbox elements. The roleplay is meant to be goofy and almost cartoonish, so we won't be discussing the feasibility of FTL drives or other aspects of accurate science and logic. In other words, this will not be hard science fiction, rather it'll be more geared towards soft scifi in order for everyone to flex their creativity and have fun writing whacky and zany things.

Given the rather short introduction, this roleplay nor I will not expect a lot of out its players. About two paragraphs once or twice a week would be the bare minimum expected from anyone that is accepted. Other than the site rules, this will be the one and only rule for this roleplay unless other guidelines are needed.

If you have any ideas, suggestions or concerns, feel free to post them below. If not, then I hope you all are having a good weekend and thanks for taking the time to read this.

Actually, I haven't touched Sunrider in some time. Though now that you mention it, I probably should play it again, maybe finish out the achievements I still don't have.

Anyone have an idea as for a character yet? Would love to hear what people have in mind. I know I kept it incredibly vague, but I did so to give people freedom to develop as they wish.

Oooooh some old classic sci-fi space stuff???

Yeah! Hell yeah!

General character concept that immediately runs on up to me, though it doesn't work if "teenage crew, stolen ship" is a proper thing to run with, or if this is the tone you want to go with at all: veteran of an intergalactic war who doesn't talk much, has some PTSD, tends to have some flashbacks. The only thing that gets her to relax is a small hydroponic garden of orchids and bonsai trees she takes care of. She keeps her military-grade exosuit in a high-security locker in her cabin on whatever ship she's on. Never takes it out, it's mostly there as a reminder.

The general concept I'm running with here is "kids up to no good actually end up doing good", so I don't know if a veteran character would work here. I could amend it to allow people in their early 20s (no further than like, 22 or so), however.

I have a character idea or two that might work for this. I'm interested and will keep my eyes on this thread. One question; is this in the future of our universe (e.g. places like Earth and Mars exist) or in an alternate universe?

Dunno why, but giving me big Infinite Ryvius energy. Except its not a space station.

I could very easily come up with some character ideas depending on what we need. I like the jump-in, low stress approach of things, too, so there is that. Just gotta thing what kind of character I'd like to do.

Far future of our universe, yes, but with artistic license as this'll be soft scifi. Made up alien species, fictional galaxies, etc. all exist here. If you're considering a character from the Milky Way itself, though, I do feel like it would be a hard press with space faring civilizations and all that. Most people have probably never been to their species' homeworld (although I would admit this depends on the species in question, especially considering species offshoots) and grew up to a mix and mash of various alien cultures on some planet.

Nah, no worries; if she doesn't fit, she doesn't fit, and I don't want to shoehorn her in weirdly. I'll come up with a kid instead, no shortage of ideas there.

Makes sense. I asked more due to the background of one character idea I have. I may or may not use this character, but it's good to know the option exists.

I'll wait until the OOC is up to start work on the CS, but this light-hearted sci-fi idea sounds like fun and it should be interesting to read.

Here you guys go. Typed up a few plot goodies for the future of the RP that might spur some creativity or something.
