The Entropy Center is much more like Qube than Portal. (Especially in terms of its quality. And the more mindless back and forth dialogue. Versus Portal's morbid wit.) Still has bugs and flaws that I'm sure will be fixed with future patches.

But the thing is...this game is filled with non-puzzles. And no, I'm not talking about the trial-and-error 'run through the crumbling level' sections. In fact, that's somehow the best part of the game. And no, I'm not referring to the lack of challenge either. (Though this game definitely needs harder and more open puzzles.)

No. I mean the cube and switches puzzles ala Qube. Except, EVERY single trick this game pulls is, "Here, do the whole puzzle with what you can see. And Ah, HA! There's one more hidden switch at the end. Do the whole puzzle over again." (Rinse, repeat, fall asleep.)

Halfway through it in one session. Hope to finish the rest later. (And now I'm concerned that it won't even lead to anything worthwhile either. Since the dev on reddit acknowledges "his ending might be controversial." Yeah, buddy. That means its sequel baiting, or it has an ambiguous and unanswered plot. And those things are controversial for a reason. They suck.)

@Dark Cloud I've seen glimpses of it through Steam Next/youtube channels that recommend indies. Haven't played a lot of survival horror, especially recently.

It looks pretty cool imo. Anyways, I've heard something either very concerning or very cool...

Illumination is working not only on a Mario film, but also Legend of Zelda. I'm..Kinda concerned, but I love the LoZ..Ah I dunno what to think! D:

@Dark Cloud I am beyond cynical about the upcoming Mario movie. (And Mario is barely a character to begin with.) And the more expanded stories are in the spin off games like Paper Mario.

So Hollywood making a Legend Of Zelda movie, (games with actual plot and much more complicated/convoluted lore behind them) would almost certainly fail. Plus, I might not have ever seen anything from Illumination Entertainment. But its studio doesn't give me any reason to. But now we're starting to drift off topic from vidya games.

The lore in any given Zelda game is hardly complicated or convoluted at all, it only becomes so when people try to do timeline bullshit. You could easily make any given Zelda game into the foundation for a movie because they all follow the same basic premise of normal dude chosen by the gods goes on a quest to defeat the bad guy and save the princess.

Anyway.

I finished God of War: Ragnarok and I don't think they should make more of these games both because of the way the story ends and also because it and 2018 are just not very good as action games because of their slavish devotion to their own cinematic aesthetic. It's a game that overstays its welcome and suffers the same problems as 2018 only worse because it actually feels like padded length at multiple points.

That isn't what I'm worried about, although those are good points. I can see this going a few ways, the best one is if Illumination keeps there hands off the serious Zelda settings like BotW and Twilight Princess. I'd say the studio isn't going to make a 'mature' film that touches on serious themes like death and loss. If they use the Windwaker IP, that would definitely be more within their wheelhouse.

Here's a few of my concerns though:
- If they give Link a voice, I think they would be disrespecting the longtime tradition of LoZ's silent protagonist.
- Illumination just isn't a studio that makes films targeting older audiences.
- The Zelda fandom would be way more harsh than the Mario fans.

In other news I've started playing The Surge, though the sequel is better I gotta play the games in order. It's got some interesting things like cutting specific limbs of enemies to get the weapon in their hand or the armor their wearing (because it's surgically attached) I've been stuck on one boss who I accidentally triggered by turning on the power in a facility, activating security systems by doing so. And my sweet sweet scrap will be lost if I don't kill it because my scrap (see souls lol) is stuck in the boss area.

4600 lost if I don't kill the stupid robot.

>So long as I don't have to use console commands just to complete bugged quests, or deal with the usual Bethesda standard in general, I too would like more info on Starfield. That and Elder Scrolls VI.

The Entropy Center's physics engine, Does. Not. Work. I'm repeating the same puzzles dozens of times, because the engine can't repeat results, and the jump/jumppads often don't work correctly.

That, on top of the minimal story, and it's becoming a frustrating pain to get through.

*Too complicated and convoluted — for Hollywood. Especially from the folks that made the Minion/Dr.Seuss movies.

Mind, aside from the many inconsistences in the timeline. I enjoy most of Zelda's stories, items, worlds and characters (the latter two being where most of the "effort" is placed. Something they'd also almost certainly fuck up.)

You could easily make any given Zelda game into the foundation for a movie, because they all follow the same basic premise.

The idea that each game could be just as easily adapted as the other, is something I can't agree with. Especially because the quality of the Legend Of Zelda games tend to go beyond the bare bones that Hollywood would imitate.

But maybe Link's Awakening could have an Oldboy-style "reinterpretation", since Hollywood's so used to producing the "and it was all a dream" cliché. Though I'm trying to imagine how fucking awful a Majora’s Mask movie would be.

Maybe I could imagine an anime movie (made by a studio that has a track record for making anything other than cynical products) that could be passable? Maybe an animated series? But I feel like constantly trying to turn games into other mediums is already a mistake to begin with. (Just see all the shitty 'cinematic' games, for proof of that.)

But I'd imagine Ocarina Of Time would be the one they'd adapt. For being the most well known of the series. Even if that one has so much going on in it - that trying to turn it into a single ninety-minute movie - would be a grave mistake. Now with Beyoncé as Zelda. And all new music by Pharrell Williams!

The director of the Mario movie is the writer of an upcoming live action Naruto. And the writer made the Minions Sequel. This movie is going to suck.

Now to go back on topic, how is The Surge treating ya? Have not heard many good things about that one.

What are you talking about, one of the most acclaimed movies of the last year involved multiverse and had rules and explained itself without any complication or convolutions while also telling a story that resonated with people. Hollywood is no stranger to complicated movies, and your opinion on the Minions aside those movies are still well received. But even so, nothing in a Zelda game is complicated or convoluted and the structure of them is basically fodder for an easily told story anyway, you'd just cut it down from like 12 dungeons to like four which they did with BOTW anyway.

The idea that each game could be just as easily adapted as the other, is something I can't agree with. Especially because the quality of the Legend Of Zelda games tend to go beyond the bare bones that Hollywood would imitate.

I know you have some weird bone to pick with Hollywood but any given Zelda game could easily become a movie. And they wouldn't even have to copy the story of any of the games because all they would need to do to have an accurate to the source material is an elfy dude in green named Link, a princess named Zelda who may or may not get captured, and a bad dude named Ganondorf who may or may not turn into a pig monster at the end of the movie named Ganon. Link has to use a sword and arrows. Mention the triforce. Zelda uses light arrows at the end. Throw in a mid section of gathering shit to make the triforce of courage or break the seal on the castle and bam, you've got a two hour movie. Probably even an hour forty five if you're good about it.

Just because you think Hollywood is some monolithic thing producing mid or bad content doesn't make it so and that just says you're not seeking out movies other than blockbusterinos.

But maybe Link's Awakening could have an Oldboy-style "reinterpretation", since Hollywood's so used to producing the "and it was all a dream" cliché. Though I'm trying to imagine how fucking awful a Majora’s Mask movie would be.

Hollywood doesn't even do "it was all a dream" stuff anymore that shit went out of style years ago. Also a Majora's Mask movie would be easy to do, time travel is not a new concept in movies nor are time loops. You should really give movies more credit because nothing suggests a Zelda movie couldn't work other than you automatically assuming the worst because one of the top animation studios who Nintendo has already put their faith in and is guaranteed to make bank and likely produce a solid 3/5 movie about a plumber with no real personality outside of loving to stomp on turtles is maybe considering making a movie based on a video game series that a 1985 movie already basically has a version of anyway starring Tom Cruise and directed by Ridley Scott

Hey, hey cool ya jets you two. Lemme straighten something out for the both of you: the target demographic for this movie (at least if the studio knows what their doing) will be either both young and older audiences or if they use an older IP definitely people around their twenties. I can bet you they'll use BotW, it's the current with the fans and a perfect way to sell the upcoming game. I can bet they will keep Zelda British, they'll definitely tone down some stuff and it probably will be fun to see a cinematic Link silently do comedy, hopefully they make the Kokiri sound ridiculous and give Beedle a part too.

Now before this descends into bickering lets just all pray the movie is faithful to it's IP. K?
