I actually had an explanation for Plasm's strangely high Charisma yet isolated upbringing and often distracted and alien mind but can't quite remember it. I'll simply chock it down to, compared to other oozes, they have have a fantastically strange and unusually human personality.

It'll take a day or two to reach Zephyr. Long enough for two small encounters to happen before the party gets there.
