@Lady Lascivious Well, as long as it's not too super dark or edgy for the sake of it, and fits well in the setting, almost anything could work, and of course if me and commodore are fine with it.

Is there still room to join? When is this RP going to start? I might want to see how it rolls in action before committing but I am getting interested.

@Sigma@Commodore

I. Have. Completed my app! Finally!

...Which is no rush to everyone else, but after a three week or so sage of this I am glad to be done with this thing (outside of any potential changes or edits as requested for by the GMs so the app can be approved of course). (@_@)

(Edit: Added "The P.S.I. Bureau" as a part of the nation to address and have involvement in psionic things.)

[hider=TEOSC]
Nation Name/Flag: Treaty on Exploration and Operation in Superluminal Contexts In accordance with Consensus of Covenants (can be abbreviated TEOSC, TEOSCOC, or TEOSCACC) this is a rough translation of an alien phrase

Map Location: (Post your claim on the starmap.)

Government Type: Long story short an Astrocratic Republic aided by a mystery cult. At the upper levels of government The highest government official has a title that might be translated as “Consul” the consul is often multiple people at once. Below the consul are an Executive Branch. A judicial branch, and a legislative branch which together decide and act on TEOSC goals. Below each of these branches is a Council of representatives. Below the consul is another few councils of representatives, the most notable of which are the Embassy Program, which handles integration of new civilizations into TEOSC and the Ominous “Itinerary” or “Order of Prophets” as its sometimes called, which is a group of Techno-psionic mystics who work as Liasons between hyperspace and “real” space, along with precursor technology. The Itinerary has a huge sway on policy within the TEOSC and all FTL capable structures are required to have one or more agents of the itinerary overseeing operation.
Individual planets within TEOSC space operate as city-states, but enjoy protection and favorable trade agreements, but with some oversight to prevent “gross violations of sentient rights”

Demographics:
Chiroform: Founding race of TEOSC, Eusocial low gravity bird-bat-moth like creatures. Homeworld in ruins, often cybernetically and genetically modified.
Yesod: a machine race, while the Chiroformics are the founders of TEOSC, the modern day industrial and infrastructural base of Yesod made it what it is today
Proteans: Shapeshifters whos civilization became experts with gravitic technology, known for their religious beliefs regarding black holes. (one of which serves as a holy site)
Celestials: The Celestials origins are largely shrouded in mystery, claim to descend from humanity (and generally believe this) The Celestials have a long history of STL spaceflight, and relativistic travel. The federation considered the Celestials barbarians
Crusaders: The Crusaders are believed to have been the creation of a malignant Federation AI, while clearly of human descent, the creators were turned into twisted super-soldiers who fought against the barbarians, ,early Teosc, and during the civil war, other federation polities. During the civil war Teosc rooted out and destroyed the commanding AIs “liberating” the crusaders. Most crusaders these days either isolate themselves in small communities, form charities, or serve as mercenaries.
Armezoa: a “barbarian” species, fought against the federation and the Crusaders, and alongside the early Teosc. The Armezoa are often described as “living war machines” while they fought relentlessly against the Federation, they have since become more peaceful, believing “not getting into unnecessary conflicts” is a form of threat neutralization, an enemy destroyed by never being an enemy in the first place. Many other ‘barbarians’ live alongside the Armezoa.
Lindwurms: snake like creatures from a high gravity scytherian world, they have very high g-tolerance, while they were not spacefaring when first contact occurred, they have since then become notable space travellers
Hadalic: crablike deep sea aliens, early members of TEOSC, originating in the same system as the Chiroformics.
Wizard: Anomalous Plantlike lifeforms, powerful psionicists, but difficult to integrate into society

Discord link had previously been mostly "private"(In that I just personally send invites to anyone interested), but figure now is the time for the link to be public.

I know I have had some... choice views about NRPs in the past, but this one looks genuinely relaxed enough to interest me. I do have one major question first though, and that is what are your thoughts on a reactivated artificial general or superintelligence created by certain members within the Federation military to ensure a reclamation of the sector in the event of the polity's fall? As a nation concept that is.

Completely fine with it! Even considered going that route but opted for my current nation.

All right, and on a technological scale, what's a good cap? I was thinking that maybe it could have one superweapon for defensive or intimidation purposes. Like a dyson swarm that can be repurposed into a Nicoll-Dyson Beam. The rest of its forces could be standard warforms or the like, maybe autowars or a type of Von Neumann probe if self-replicating machines are allowed.

@Havoccultist The setting does have its fair share of superstructures, forge worlds, and city worlds. Sadly though, I'm afraid that Dyson Spheres/Swarms and above would be prohibited, sorry about that.

That's more than fair. I just figured I'd float the idea to get a general gist of the level of crazy weapons can get. Autowars, that is self-replicating warships which act like offensive Von Neumann swarms and strip systems of resources to build more of themselves according to a template, alongside what could easily be millions or billions of machines for planetside engagements (assuming we're operating to actual scale or close to it for these nations) would be effective enough as a fighting force I imagine, though I can easily scale those numbers down if need be. I noticed gravity manipulation tech was a thing in one of the accepted(?) sheets, so maybe I could go with that instead for ejecta-less or reactionless (if I'm not mistaken) drives and similar stuff. But not like full on, crush or implode an entire system, or whatever batshit things the Xeelee like to do.

Also, I know I'm focusing a lot on the tech and military aspects right now. That's largely because this ASI-to-be is meant to be a rather straightforward entity (and I guess antagonistic force) all things considered, so I feel it's pertinent to focus more on its capabilities at the moment instead of its politics and the like. That's not to say it cannot negotiate, just that its ultimate goal is bringing the Orion Sphere back under Federation control.

@Havoccultist Maaaybe scale down the numbers a notch, but otherwise, I'm good with it. :)

Cool. I think maybe a vague hundreds of thousands would work better, but I can go with hundreds instead if that doesn't work. I do have it in mind, however, that for planetary warfare a special class of autowar is used that's essentially a flying fortress which uses gravity manipulation technology to pull up resources, which it then uses to manufacture said ground and atmospheric based units. Kind of like a World Devastator from Star Wars, but less indestructible. And nowhere near as stupidly OP. So the numbers can easily fluctuate based on the narrative if need be with that idea, either because resources have run out, the gravitational tractor has been countered or disabled, etc.

For weaponry beyond that, I'm really just thinking these ground forces use standard lasers and kinetic/explosive weaponry, unless plague bombs or gray goo type weapons are allowed, but that might be a bit much. These wouldn't be like physically accurate lasers either, but Star Wars style ones, where it's akin to a slow moving (comparatively) bolt of superheated plasma that can be reflected or absorbed with the right materials. And obviously dodged.

@Havoccultist Sounds great with me so far! As for numbers, hundreds of thousands or millions is a fair range for the ASI machines.

Alright. Also on weapons like plague bombs and such, if they are allowed they'd really only be deployed against particularly stubborn worlds. The ultimate goal is reclamation and ensuring a return to Federation control, and leaving a bunch of ruined, uninhabitable, and unusable worlds behind wouldn't really be conducive to that.

Other than that I don't think I have many questions besides what kinds of power sources are allowed. I know the dyson swarm angle isn't allowed, but given the fact there is gravitational technology, what about black hole generators? Or certain types of fusion reactors like cold fusion or direct fusion drives?

@Havoccultist Other than black hole generators, those other power sources are acceptable. As for Plague bombs, that'll be fine, the current Orion Sphere is rift with war crimes :P
