@Dark Cloud I think it depends on the depiction of the halberd... If you're imagining a huge axe at the end of a spear shaft- on the one hand it's probably a heavy weapon, but I'd still consider it a 'polearm', which are the Dragoon's weapon of choice. Glaives are also something I'd consider a Dragoon's weapon.

Both glaives and halberds- while heavy compared to a single handed sword, I do not think are prohibitively heavy on their own- especially not when held in two hands

A big hammer is something I'd say is not exactly within their skillset (though the term polearm is fairly broad)

I am leaning towards Red mage, as that would likely be the closest thing for what I have in mind for a character. Other possibility could be summoner unless they are bound to staffs.
