Ahoy! ‘Tis I, your Captain! The name’s Deriva Graystone. Now before you go assuming that a day on the Legacy is a stereotypical pirate roleplay day, let me tell you how wrong you are. Just last week, my Sailing Master attempted mutiny- I sadly had to exterminate her. I quite liked her…  Oh well. I can get a new one- considering I already have a crew swap planned while I’m docked… perhaps you’d like to join me?

Back to serious business. I’ve hosted this roleplay on different sites and each time, it’s died! Not surprising, really, but I’d like to try again. I’d be GM and take the role of Captain, but all other roles are open to others. As always, there are auditions for higher roles such as: Quartermaster, Sailing Master, Master Gunner, Helmsman, and Doctor. One person can play multiple characters if you so choose. Legend Of The Lioness

The Lioness is a feared ship. She is crewed by the damned and a pair of captains. Once upon a time, the Lioness was defeated by two ships, but only those two could ever defeat her again... The two captains were a man and a woman, both of whom had been in the same position for a very long time. One was an old man, a survivor, who had survived the first attack. A second was the woman who, after the attack, took the Lioness to a new world, a world of new rules. She was now the captain of that new lion, which was her new name. Her new ship, she said. In the end it will be a ship that is not afraid of any man or woman. That will not be afraid. Because she will have a captain who will fight unafraid. And she has a crew who can be trusted. That's why she is the best ship in all the seas. There is nothing she can do that the others can handle. If you are not with her, then you can never defeat the ship, he said in that way that only the most powerful men can. So, if you want to defeat this ship... The Lioness is the power of the sea, it will be hard. If they were to be defeated, there is to be no survivors. Their ships would not even come close to matching the power of this one in terms of sheer numbers. These ships were the only fear carried with theLioness captains. Yet, the Lioness terrorized the lands until sailors unite, though unison between the powers would never happen to defeat the Lioness and her crew. The seas will never allow sailors to join together and defeat the dangerous Lioness. But perhaps they will… before it’s too late… or after… Be wary of the docks at night, my children, and stay safe in bed. If you don’t… You may run into the Lioness and her crew. Stay in bed and sleep, or I’ll have you sleeping outside.

Legacy Origins(Capt. Deriva Graystone)

Deriva Graystone was raised on her father’s ship, the Seahawk. The Greystone family was rich until its fall in 1989. That year, Deriva was kidnapped by vampires and turned. Before this, she was just human. She was tossed out of the family but the news of her turning spread and the Greystones’ fame declined. Many were against Deriva’s father throwing her out. She turned against her family. She got her own ship, the Legacy, and her own crew. When Reginald Greystone, Deriva’s father, passed on, she did not show up at his funeral. She claims that she was too far at sea to return to land for the funeral but everybody knows she’d been the one to repeatedly attack the Seahawk in multiple instances, trying and soon succeeding to kill her father in order to gain the power she deserved. Ever since then, the Legacy has been one of the largest powers in the seven seas- save for her two main rivals, the Santiana and Lioness.

Ello! Can I audition for Quartermaster with Zio?

Zio Blade

Name: Ziora Blade
Goes By: Zio, Blade
Reasoning: Zio hates his full name, finding it distasteful and too feminine- he finds nothing wrong with feminine but he prefers his shortened name(Zio) or to be addressed by his last name(Blade), or sometimes even just by his rank if he’s in a rank that can be addressed as such(Quartermaster, Sailing Master, Cook, Doctor, etc.)
Age: 22
Gender: AFAB
Pronouns: he/him
Species: Half Leopard
Looks: His ears and tail are black with white prints. He wears a torn-up black T-shirt that has one odd long sleeve and raggedy jean shorts. It’s nothing much, but it keeps him comfortable. He can shift to his leopard form when he’s cold and his fur is mostly black with white prints. He has short black hair that he cuts himself- it’s nowhere near even but he doesn’t really care. He keeps a dagger up his long sleeve and a pistol obviously strapped in its holster at his side.
Personality: Zio isn’t harsh in any manner, but can be sharp. He doesn’t mind dealing damage and getting his hands dirty, but will never disobey any order unless it conflicts with a higher rank’s orders to him. If he is in a position of power, however, he has a tendency to be slightly abusive with this power- in the sense that he keeps the ship running by any means required and appears as the exact opposite of his normal behavior. His normal behavior is sharp but kind enough to care. Despite the fact that he carries one obvious weapon, he’s never pulled it on anybody unless in self defense in his life- except for his ex-captain- but he never talks about it.
Other: Zio, unlike many half-felines, is not afraid of water in any manner. He’s actually a pretty good swimmer. He can pack a punch when he needs to, but prefers to use ranged weapons and sometimes- rarely- knives, daggers, etc.
Experience: Zio was Quartermaster on his old ship, the Duchess until he was accused of attempted mutiny. He hadn’t attempted mutiny. He knows his way around being Quartermaster and regular crew, and exactly what to, and what not to, do. He’s used to a position of power, but can be in a non-powerful position and be just fine- the pros of being a transgender high ranking on a homophobic ship though it was one of the reasons he was accused of mutiny.
Role: Audition for Quartermaster or Master-At-Arms if not Quartermaster. Reg crew if not either.

I like the idea of a pirate ship roleplay but I think you're not getting a lot of traction because you're not giving the players much to work with. Like, you'll be the GM, so you'll control everything outside of this crew. But you also control the captain whose authority this crew is bound by. So really, it seems like the players are applying to be pawns in a story you 99% control. What's in it for them?
