It all started with the looming climate crisis facing the world and it growing ever more dire during the first two decades of the 21st century. Humanity was running out of time to make the necessary changes to curb the threat and preserve what natural resources were left; and the world's leaders and most brilliant minds were scrambling for solutions.
It was the year 2067 when the solution was found... but at a cost. Yes, both technology and humanity arose and evolved to meet the crisis, but it was thanks to the "successful" results of human experimentation. In an effort to preserve the human species in a rapidly changing environment, the world's brightest biohackers, biologists, and doctors banded together to expedite the human evolutionary process via gene splicing. This resulted in a new generation of mutated humans known as: "The Gifted". These gifted humans were born with all different sorts of supernatural abilities ranging from human-animal hybrids to being able to control the weather. Realizing these abilities could be harnessed to stabilize and heal the environment, the now unified world government would end up exploiting The Gifted for their abilities but would regard them as selfless heroes that "voluntarily" dedicated their entire lives to the cause of restoring the planet aka Operation Gaia. When in actuality, these first generations of gifted "heroes" were made, raised, and trained in military facilities before being shipped out to the outside world. Though, of course, very little of what Operation Gaia was or what was happening behind the scenes actually reached the general public.
As the decades passed and the environment began to stabilize once again, the topic of The Gifted and talks of human rights began to erupt. For you see, as The Gifted and non-gifted humans began to mingle and reproduce; the population of new Gifted children began to rapidly grow with each new generation. With the exception of the first handful of generations, the Gifted were being born rather than artificially made. These newer generations of Gifted were inheriting the altered genetics from their Gifted parents and ancestors, and when you play the lottery of genetics things get even more complicated. Some children's powers manifested differently than their parent's while others inherited their gifts from ancestors father back. In some more uncommon cases, children of Gifted parents never manifest powers of their own but instead are carriers for the gene.
In the end, though, the world's leaders were met with an unexpected problem: What do we do with these Gifted children now that they have served their purpose in restoring the planet? Do we simply continue to assimilate The Gifted into the non-gifted population and, if we do, how do we keep their dangerous abilities under the control of the world government?
The year is currently 2245 and the solution the world came to all those years ago was Operation Tartarus. The Gifted are now being relentlessly hunted down by the ever so aptly named police force, The Hunters. This police force is mostly are made up of Non-Gifted humans, but there handful of Gifted that were made the exception; only after they were beaten into submission and then molded into the perfect super soldiers, of course. In order to keep the upper hand over the Gifted, the Non-Gifted Hunters were given the worlds most advanced armor and weaponry. The world government, now known as The Republic, established countless military concentration camps around the world where The Gifted would be contained and where the most dangerous classes would be imprisoned. These imprisoned Gifted, the average aging between 10 - 35 years old, are exposed to all sort of inhumane and harsh conditions while surviving confinement. However, all is not lost for The Gifted, as whispers of a Gifted rebel army echo the metal halls of the military camps and with it, hopes and dreams of freedom and equality....
Hey all! Just wanting to put this into the interest check because I'm hoping to reach more people! We haven't started the story yet and we are still looking for more players! The goal is to have about 5-7 characters before we start! Let me know if you have any questions!
