Thoth (A Shin Megami Tensei Inspired Roleplay)

You toss and turn inside of your bed unable to sleep. In your dreams, you are walking down a long dark corridor you walk into a cozy but tacky-looking room. In this room, an androgyny-looking person is sitting in a large comfy chair. This person has a large book sitting on their lap. Speaking to you about how you have been chosen to help battle the evil forces that are planning to eradicate humanity and turn Earth into their new home. The figure speaks that this symbol would enable you to summon demons to protect yourself against evil. The figure says that the way to summon a demon would be to call forth their name. The figure burns a Symbol on the back of your hand. The pain is intense and causes you to jolt awake from your bed, thinking nothing of it and going on with your mundane life.

In the waking world, you hear on the news of strange occurrences happening around the city. People claimed that saw supernatural beings wandering the city, or seeing paranormal activities. Most of it was scoffed at and disregarded as crazy people hallucinating. You also hear whispers of a budding new age group that is talking about the end of days. As well as the sudden rise of murders. While you are going on with your day you are attacked by a Demon

The back of your hand starts hurting when you notice the symbol from your dream burnt into your hand. Calling forth your demon and fighting to protect your life. Can you figure out the appearance of the demons, and why supernatural events are happening? Or will you succumb to the hellish forces that want to destroy all of humanity?

So this RP is inspired by the Shin Megami Tensei series, with some inspiration from the Jojo series. In this roleplay, your players will be in morally grey situations and will make tough choices. Your characters will be given the freedom to do whatever they like. I am still working on story plots and other story ideas that may or may not be implemented in the story. If you have any questions please let me know. I am aiming for two or three players as I want to keep the group pretty small.

Potentially interested! I have a few questions, though:

Since you mentioned Jojo, is the implication meant to be that our Summoned Demon is sort of "one of a kind" like a Stand or a Persona? Or will we negotiate with other Demons to build a multi-person party, and if so does the Player control their subordinates as well as their own character?

Does anything keep the players from leaving the city, like a barrier of some kind? Is this sudden invasion of Demons something that only happens in the given location, or is the whole world suddenly plunged into an apocalyptic scenario of some kind? If it's the former, will this play out similarly to the Devil Survivor games?

So my jojo inspired i was thinking of the characters just being super weird. We would start out with one demon and as the story progress our character will be able to get more. And being able to switch them out. The supernatural events would start small and lead into a coming apocalypse. And as things get more chaotic their will be a "barrier" of sorts placed around the city. I have not planned out all of the details yet, but i'm on a plot outline.

I'll throw in an "on the fence" as well. If you decide there's room for another player or if Scribe doesn't want in once the OOC is up, I'd be down to join. Gonna need to see the demon list and have a little more general info though, but as a fan of Devil Survivor (and SMT as a whole) I have to at least throw in some interest, lol.

Since the SMT Wiki lists the statblocks from various games under each demon's entry, what if you limited the available demons to ones that have entries under a certain level? For instance, maybe we're limited to Demons at Level 5 and under to start with, or Demons at a minimum of Level 3, max of Level 10, something like that? That'd probably open up all your usual starters like Pixie, Slime, Kobold, etc.
