When the Gods first arrived in our universe, they made merry. They created a myriad of stars to decorate the sky, and performed matches of might and magic. From the wrist of one of these wrestling, frivolous beings, fell a single gemstone. Among the wrestling and battling, the stone was unmissed, and the Gods soon left our universe, uncaring for the longely stone, set adrift among the stars. It came to orbit a star which would be called the Sun, and from the God's lingering magics spread a mold, small and unnoticeable on the stone. This mold was life, and from it grew all that we knew. Of course, when the great wizard Merlin finally did discover how the Earth was created, he decided to hide the truth from his fellow mages, for good reason. It wasn't a very dignified beginning for our small planet.
From the primal moss of life have sprung a number of beings, many of which have harnessed the remnants of the magic of the Gods. There were elves and man, dragons and demons, who were banished to another realm. Life took many shapes forming innumerable beasts of magic and mirth, entire societies were built and destroyed. The world went by many names, as history built up and broke down, and societies rose and fell. However, eventually, it became known as Heartstone. And within the land of Heartstone a thousand tragedies and a thousand stories are told, as empires rise and fall. One of those stories is ours.
After the great Dragon War, the Alderan alliance rose, the surviving groups of humans banding together into a single kingdom. This kingdom grew out to an empire as it conquered nearby lands, including the seven Elven Thrones and the Eastern War Tribes. They are at war with the Kingdom of Isles, and the Black Marsh sits to the north, full of evil magics and hags. The land is rich in strife and treasure, ancient ruins remnants of times long past. This is a world where the strongest thrive, and the weak are crushed. Welcome, my friends, to the lands of Hearthstone.

Human
Humans are the most common race in Heartstone, being at the center of the Alderian Alliance. They sit upon the throne of power, and more often than not, non-humans face prejudice and superstition. Although humans are in many ways weaker than the more magical races of the world, they make up for this with wit, courage, and teamwork, which has allowed them to become the most powerful of all races in Heartstone. They also have an adaptability which they use to master the technologies of other races before or after conquering them.
The main language in this fantasy world is Corinthian, a language that was first created when Lord Corinth combined the languages of the many city-states that had combined into the Alderian Alliance shortly after it's founding. It has many useless and nonsensical grammatical clauses which were taken from languages that didn't quite fit, much like English, and is spoken throughout the Alderian alliance, although many regions still have their own dialects, and even alternate languages that can be spoken among people from that area, as seen with the elves.
Orc
Although most common in the desserts and mountains of the world, Orcs can be found nearly anywhere as mercenaries or travelling warriors. Having grown hard and durable, orcs are a hardy race, with incredible physical strength and resilience. Although notably bad at any non-spiritual form of magic, they can master most forms of physical combat with ease, and are master smiths. Few can match an orc in a fight, and the orcs of the world know it.
Elf
Elves come in many shapes and colors, all springing from the Primal Elves. The many aspects of Elves all lived as one under the Seven Elven Thrones, before they were conquered. Now they are spread out. There are High Elves, Dark Elves, Blood Elves, Night Elves, Snow Elves, Wood Elves, and Primal Elves, who have all died out. All races of elves have different skills and qualities, although they share a rather fragile build and a certain agility. High Elves are the ruling class of the elves, however, much of the prejudices between elves have been destroyed by hundreds of years in forced cooperation, and often a Dark Elf, or Snow Elf will sit upon the throne.
Elves ancestrally have two tongues. Ancient Elves, and Thronic. Ancient Elven is the tongue spoken originally by the Primal Elves, which, after the fall of the Primal Elves, was seen as the perfect language. The High Elves, together with the Wood Elves cherished and protected this language, forbidding the "lesser" elven races from speaking it. However, as the Seven Thrones were instituted, 300 years after the Dragon War, a new language had to be created to combine elves. This language was derived from the complex Primal Elven, but simplified and twisted. Ancient Elven, as it is now known, is a tongue spoken mostly by scholars throughout the world, having spread as Elven magical knowledge spread as the language of learned men.
Thronian, on the other hand, is a tongue that is rarely spoken by Elves nowadays. Elves were required to learn Alderian when the Seven Thrones were conquered, but the members of the resistance refused. Due to this, elves who speake Thronian are associated with the resistance, and it is spoken exclusively among elves, not when there are humans present, a hiddenl language. It is popular in Elven bars after a few drinks have been served, as some small measure of resistance.
Dragon
Rare after the great Dragon War, dragons still exist to this very day. They are massive creatures with an affection for treasure, blessed with the ability to harness primal draconic magic, which enables them to fly and breathe fire. Older dragons can also use this magic for a variety of other uses. There are many different types of dragons, from green dragons to gold dragons to Drakes and Wyrms, but they all share a great size and an affinity for thier particular element. Most dragons can also become many times older than humans.
Please wait for my acceptance before doing anything in the IC. Also, be free to create new races if you want to. You can be an undead, or a Demon. Just write them up before you do. Feel free also to invent different kinds of magic, I haven't specified any as of yet.
