Mithias lay in his tube, motionless and unconscious. Blood and flesh crawled over the bones of his skull, gradually reforming a face. Black hair began to regrow, each strand setting itself to its previous length. Broken ribs reconnected, and breathing recommenced. Slowly pulling itself together, his body was alive, but his mind was lost in a dream, shared by Martin.

Mithias observed all of it. He watched with mild curiosity while Martin swallowed the mental representation of a girl's spirit. The girl looked very much like the one that shot one of his swords earlier that night. Mithias tried to recall his fight with Magnus, he tried to recall ANY of reality. He pressed his fingers against his forehead. "None of this is real, Martin. Only you and I are, and we need to wake up." He stopped for a moment, looking around, his brow furrowed in thought. "Listen." He said. "Do you hear it? It's a pulse, a heartbeat. It's all around us." He looked up to the leviathan and clutched a fist. A fire began to spark in Mithias' eyes.

What a commotion was being caused below. Jack, of course, had BioPILOT monitor the entire area, and it had immediately alerted him the moment Magnus had appeared on the scene, in plain view no less. And then the monkey spoke as if it were an educated man, with the right to speak. The ideas he preached nearly made Jack laugh. Of course SOLDIER wanted to wipe out vampires. Was the boy stupid? It was the simple idea of racism. Two groups might live together, but Vampires were too different from humans, too alien, to ever be accepted. Black people had been seen as little better than monkeys simply for having a different color of skin. Vampires fed on human blood, and feared the holy cross. There could never be any lasting balance. One side or the other would strike, and wars would start. This is why treaty after treaty had been broken, the Blood Compact only being the latest of such treaties. However, such arguments would not sway the crowd.
A BioHIVE Drone flew out from one of the hangar bays of Terebithia, hurtling down towards the ground. It was black, like Terebithia itself, armored for many situations, a smaller version of Terebithia's gravitron drives keeping it afloat. As it approached ground level, eigt long silver metallic legs extended, and it rested on them. It was usually best to save energy whenever possible. "This is Jack speaking from the 'giant eyesore.' " Jack almost growled at this. Nobody insulted his baby. "I would remind you of the things SOLDIER stand for. SOLDIER was never meant to create some form of balanced society, no military force could do that. SOLDIER exists as a military-funded protection agency, trained specifically to take down vampires, in case they become a threat."
"Three months ago, an Oldblood by the name of Dresden led a group of two hundred vampires, and slaughtered many villages in the southern areas of Callifornia. The Blood Compact, the treaty SOLDIER had created to keep peace between the two races of man and vampire, was broken by your kind. Just yesterday you led a strike against this very base, killing dozens of our men, and just now, one of your vampires destroyed our armory in order to cripple us." Jack worked hard to keep the smug tone out of his voice, and succeeded. Had he not been a scientist, he could have been an actor, or a politician. "More than four hundred here are dead by your hand, family and friends. Indeed, SOLDIER does not want peace, or balance. SOLDIER wants to take down you, and those who side with you, against the citizens of the United States. No friends will aid you, because those of political power are those that do not want to kill all us humans. You stand alone, not against the monkeys you accuse us to be, but against brave men and women, who risk their lives for the safety of others."
The drone turned it's body to Rhyss, it's large red lense focusing on him. "As a vampire, it is understandable that you might side with Magnus. However, the fact that you are alive proves that SOLDIER is not against vampires, or Olbloods. We are not a group of psychotic killers, who wish to exterminate your race without reason." Well, not all of us, Jack thought to himself, as he recalled his last meeting with the superiors of SOLDIER when he'd presented Saya. "We fight Oldbloods like Magnus, Dresden, and Gabriel, those that kill humans without thought just to feed. As senior SOLDIER officer on the scene, I am willing to forgive you for near treason because of your natural allegiance. However, if you want to join with Magnus's band of killers, go ahead." As expected, there were hostile stares towards the vampires. Many of those here had lost friends and family to the vampires, and the wounds from the explosion were fresh and raw. Jack had gotten his story in first, and any counter Magnus would offer would be ignored. He also had evidence to show Mithias's presence on the scene, as well as Martin, in case solid proof was required. He had the crowd in the palm of his hand.

Magnus growled at the man's machine mentioning his sirelings name, but didn't outwardly admit to him being his. "I did what I must to get to SOLDIER, I myself did not kill any innocent humans, hell I barely killed any among your ranks. I am not always myself due to a mental injury that happend long ago I also cannot be accountable for what my army did, I am not multiple people, I cannot watch each of them at once. Tell me, would you rather sit here and listen to a man surrounded by armor plating, doing more harm than good by blowing up YOUR men and your supplies? He has killed more men than I have these past few days. Would you rather listen to someone like him, or someone who has lived for nearly 2000 years and watched as SOLDIER as well as other groups of similar origin did EXACTLY like they are now? Sure, not all of those of my kind with higher standing will agree, but I trust you there are a few. By what he is saying, he will kill any vampire who does not conform to SOLDIER or does the slightest thing wrong, only to kill them once SOLDIER's job is done. I am truly sorry for what my comrades did and what I must and will do, but you have to realize, I am trying to achieve what SOLDIER is doing without exterminating either of our races. I want to achieve my goal with as few casulties as possible, if that means killing a few people than so be it. If any of you are blind enough to follow this man, sitting there comfortably, willing to kill each and every one of you for his purposes, than so be it."

At the end of this Magnus focused on someone in the group who looked just as important as the man he held captive(Miller. He closed his eyes, not showing him a illusion, but showing him of what he had seen over the years. SOLDIER, groups ages before them, all striving to completely obliterate vampires that did not join them. He opened his eyes nearly as soon as he had shut them, with any luck the man would help him.

"An officer is held accountable for the actions of his men. You sent hundreds of vampires over here, ready for killing. Are you arguing that they did so without your permission, or that you did not lead them into battle? I find the idea quite laughable." Jake was getting annoyed with this foolish vampire. "Are you truly arguing that I am more of a monster than you are? Terebithia's medical supplies have saved dozens of people, people who were injured by YOUR vampires. Now that the main stores have been destroyed by one of your vampires, whom's stores will it be that aid the brave men on the battlefield? As a vampire who has committed hundreds of war crimes, you have no right to speak of morals, or of compassion. Do not delude yourself into believing us to exterminate all vampires. Just like humans, vampires who kill and steal will be punished. However, unlike humans, a vampire does not have the right to live, for no prison can hold a vampire."

Martin nodded as he felt the entire world around him pulsate. Energy rushed trough everything, the sky, the earth. He knew none of it was part of the material world. But that didn't make it any less real to him. The notion of what was 'real' and what wasn't was a silly idea. Realism is a trick question.

"We should be just about ready. Ready to return to controlling our meat-suits. But..."
Martin held out his hands like he was conducting a concert. The nearby corpses started to bleed.
"If we stick around for just a little longer."
The blood that poured out of every orifice collected like it was dripping upwards to a reversed gravity.
"We could learn so much here." Martin dramatically gestured as five crimson coils of blood stood up from drained corpses.
As they touched the cold flames they turned a pale glowing blue.

"To be like father" The whirling coils of fluorescent life surged towards martin and circled him as martin gestured for it to come closer. "I think we'd have to be."

"How do you feel?" The weird liquid turned to needles piercing into martin from every direction. In seconds all was gone, consumed by his image. "Aren't you ready to abandon your last shred of humanity?" He said with a wicked grin and outstretched hand, in his open palm a sickly flame.

Mithias, the vampire hunter, stood motionless as he watched Martin control the blood and ignite it with the spiritual flames. As his brother consumed it, he seemed to grow even stronger, more inhuman, and perhaps slightly psychotic. He was more like 'Father' than he realized.

Seeing Martin's outstretched hand, with the sickly blue flame in his palm, Mithias already knew what his answer would be. He reached forward and grasped his bother's hand, tight, and looked into his eyes with life, vigor, strength, hope, and defiance. The blue fire grew and covered the whole of Mithia's body, changing him into his vampire form. His grip on Martin's hand too strong to break, Mithias answered him with a slight grin, "Never." Seemingly in response to Mithias' will, the blue fire changed to regular colored orange flames that reflected in his eyes and burst from Mithias' back in a set of flame wings. Neither of them were burning, of course. Mithias held Martin's hand. "I'll tell you a secret, brother. 'Humanity' has nothing to do with whether or not you are human." With a smile, he finally let go and took off to the air toward the image of Terebithia.

In the real world the temperature inside Mithias' cylinder started to rise.

"That depends on your definition of humanity" Martin mumbled, looking up at his older brother ascend.
Perhaps it was time then. Time to wake up and live unlife. A slight rumble ran trough the ground. Cracks started to form in the earth and in what was left of the buildings.
We're waking up.
With an outward burst of energy shot dusty moth like wings, they sparked with blue flames as he steadily rose. Following his brother, drawn to the lights of the dark creature.
"Then what do we do when we arise? Will we fight or will we lie?"

The floating whale let out a terrible, reverberating screech and opened it's jaws wide. A thick swarm of insects poured forth, heading for the two vampires. As the ground cracked and sundered beneath them, Mithias saluted his bother. "Patience. You will know when the time is right to strike." Those were the last words he said as the horde of giant insects swarmed around them both. Those around Mithias began bursting into flame one after another, creating a cloud of fire and smoke. They were burning everywhere as they flew. Burning, burning, burning...

An alarm went off, indicating a problem with Mithias' capsule.

Miller sighted, it seemed Jack completely ignored his call. Then he heard a familiar voice nearby, he climbed down the remnants of the HQ and after a little walk he knew why this voice was so familiar, it was Magnus who held a speech and seemed to be argueing with Jack. Even Rhyss joined Magnus side, Miller never liked Rhyss as he first saw him, now he knew why. As Magnus sent his memories to show them Miller, he remained calm and a bit cold, the fight between vampires and humans was like a war and in a war there will always be people dying, even the innocent. However, Miller neither would join Magnus now since he still has to take care of his men nor would try to stop him. Without any weapon and being a bit wounded after the collapse of the HQ, he couldn't win a fight against a vampire.

The swarm covered all and blinded martin with a torrent of wings and claws. Wait. Blinded! Martin could see nothing but he didn't feel the insects presence right either. They were misplaced. Mithias was misplaced also, he wasn't flying above him, he was laying down nearby. A screen resisted his movements up. The clicking and buzzing of thousands of legs and wings continued. A horrific symphony of chaos, yet somehow in perfect harmony. Martin decided to match their movements and fly along. He came to understand their erratic patterns. When he found the place where Mithias had scorched the hive all he found was the torched air and the remnants of the immolated.
"I guess he woke up." Martin turned around to face the horde that followed him and stuck out his hands to meet them. Up on touch they shattered into small shrapnel.
With the shockwave Martin could feel he was close. Another shockwave sent the rest of the swarm scattered and broken.

The glass in Martin's capsule started to show cracks.

jack jumped from console to console, his fingers a blur, as he regulated the heat and pressure in Martin and Mithias's tubes, rapidly returning them to the norms, while retaining life support. He would have to have BioPILOT take on this task automatically if he planned to keep them for any duration of time. However, the brainwave reads were massively informative. As he had expected, they used a special type of brainwave to communicate with other minds, and they had managed to sync their thoughts, while retaining their individuality. It was fascinating, truly.

The world went dark. As expected, his eyes had regrown, but they would never see again. No matter, he could see better without them. Well maybe 'better' wasn't the right word. Different. Martin's mind probed out, checking if he really was where he expected to be. As they had thought, he was in the belly of the beast. The humming feeling of hordes of identical minds swarming around him was still there, as it had been in the dream. Martin could feel the thoughts of his brother being synced with his own, but he noticed another. A primitive mind attempted to match this synchronization. Martin realized it was a computer. It was reading his brainwaves? Martin dove back into his personal little hellscape and before long he found the point of data in his mind that matched the computer. This was the point he was reading. Martin sat in front of it and concentrated. This was his mind and he had learned by now to control it with some finesse. He blocked off all mental activity in the selected area, then started to feed data according to his design.

The screen in Jack's room that displayed Martin's brainwaves displayed a massive spike of activity for a second, then went dead. After a few more second the screen came back to life, showing only a black screen and white text.
