Background & Personality:
Matilda is the stereotypical typical nerd, with wide, blue eyes hidden beneath thick, black glasses. She is particularly small and skinny for her age, often leading to others assuming her to be younger than she actually is which she occasionally finds quite frustrating. She talks a fair bit and may sometimes open her mouth and allow a random, scientific fact leak out into the conversation. She finds it quite difficult to make friends (though not from lack of talking) as her unwavering honesty is sometimes off-putting and she is not the type of girl to 'gush' about things. She finds the male species rather intimidating but instead of this making her quiet, this causes her to launch into scientific explanations of anything nearby, that usually ends up boring them off.
Her parents are both busy, full time doctors and she inherited her werewolf gene from her father (though they both prayed in vain that she wouldn't), who has managed to train himself to be almost human, via detatching himself from emotion which he has tried (and failed) to make Matilda do. Every full moon, both of them retreated into the secure basement of their large family house for their transformation, the one thing that cannot be stifled, and her mother left them with a grimace until morning. It felt quite stifling to Matilda - and she often wondered what it would be like to roam free in the woods as a wolf, though her parents would never allow it - but she has learnt to cope with it. For the first sixteen year of her life, the three of them managed to live fairly normally and practically never talked about the skeleton in the closet (or 'wolf in the basement'). However, one day at school, when Ursula, Matilda's bully, was being particularly malicious and resorted to physically pushing her, Matilda saw red and launched herself at the hefty girl. Although she was unable to transform fully, since it was not the full moon, Ursula scrambled up and ran off, screaming things about 'glowing, yellow eyes' and 'claws', which had left three parallel lines of blood down the side of her cheek and nicked her eye, making her partially blind until a surgeon corrected it a week later, paid for by Matilda's parents. Matilda was suspended for a week and her parents were horrified, realizing they needed to look for alternative arrangements to handle her daughter. And lo and behold, they received an invitation from Swords and Heart Academy, a school that didn't seem to mind of her past suspension.
Matilda wasn't particularly bothered as she had no close friends to speak off and so she went with the flow, allowing her parents to enrol her and promised to let them help her control the 'beast'. Her parents told everyone (including Matilda) that she was being sent to an ordinary American boarding school. Her parents reckoned she needed to stay away for a little while; if word were to escape that the English town where Matilda was born happened to have a werewolf virtually running the town hospital, there would certainly be an uproar!
Other:
Matilda has ambitions of becoming an astrophysicist and is mainly hoping to control her wilder, animal nature so that she can live a normal, human life. She doesn't deny her wolf side and necessarily look down on other supernatural beings but her parents have taught her fairly well; she wants nothing more than a regular, human lifestyle
