[IC] Fractions: A New Age

"I know, right?" A voice from behind Austin said. Caroline walked around so he could see her. "Be glad you can do that much, Phorros is stubborn. I've never been able to do much." Picking up one of the scattered stones, she focused on it as hard as she could. The rock wobbled a bit, lifted half an inch, and fell again. Breathing hard, Caroline shrugged. "For some reason I can only use Phorros one way with any skill, and I still have no idea what it really is."

This angered Nessie, and once more her demeanor changed, losing her stuttor once more, she said, "I already know Elpis-I might not be able to do anything as fancy as you, but I've lived in the Elpis colony my whole life. I don't have to think too much with it. I need viper not Elpis help, but I hate it, I hate how it makes me feel, I hate how I have to struggle, I hate it! I'm not like you! We may have the same elements, but I'm nothing like you!"

She seemed unaware that her skin was warming, her face flushing, and her eyes danced with an inner light, "I can barely talk to people without stuttering, can barely look at them, and my whole life, the men in my family have protected and shelthered me. I will never be like anyone here!"

And just like that, her demaenor changed once more. She dropped her eye to the floor, and looked away.

The smile never left Alexander's face as he said "First you don't want help, then you do, now somehow you want hep without wanting help. You should spend some time getting your thoughts in order, then if you decide you want me to help you I'd be happy to oblige. For now I'll leave you to your devices." And without another tord he turned and walked away.

"Urgh!" Nessie stormed away, only her thoughts were so frustrating, and distracting that she fell once more, and ended up knocking a tray of food off the table she fell near, and over herself.

She let out a frustrated cry, and scrambled up, fleeing the mess hall, and heading to her dorm room. She didn't make it that far, and merely slid down a wall, bringing her knees to her chest, and leaning her head against them. Stained covered with Food, frustrated, and more then a little afraid, she only just realised that she had never asked for help to begin with, all she had said was he was skilled with water, and that was it.

It was too much for Nessie, and she cclosed her eyes tight, wanting to be anywhere but where she was.

Nyx giggled as she bit her lip, even though she wasn't entirely free she felt more open here. There were so many places to explore but at the moment her only goal was to find a way outside, not that she wanted to run away but she wanted to find somewhere of her own, and if she had to go another night without being able to sit outside she would go crazy. The cellar door to go outside was sealed shut so she had returned to the West Hall to try to find the tool room or a workshop room for tools. She find some pliers and a crow bar and decided those would be best to break it open, not really knowing what to do with them. She tried to act conspicuous as she walked through the main lobby to get to the third floor.

Mason was bored, he had finished unpacking, and he had been reading a book, though he hadn't been able to focus much after after that encounter with Forrest. I suppose I should do something. Finally deciding on a walk, Mason ambled out of the dorm. After a little bit down the hall he came across a girl, covered in food.

I should probably help, or something... "Err.... Are you OK?" As soon as he said it he regretted it. Clearly she wasn't.

"No, I'm not bloody okay!" Nessie snapped, then immediately regretted it "s-s-s-sorry. It's buh-buh-buh-been a long d-d-day. And a trying o-o-one" she sighed and looked up, her face was pale her eyes watery. "I s-s-s-s-shouldn't have s-s-snapped at y-you"

Austin jumped as the voice sounded behind him, turning slightly. He didn't know anyone was in there with him. He watched her, his lips pressed into a thin line, as if deciding to talk to her or not. Eventually he did decide to talk. He needed help. He growled," it's so damn frustrating. It's easier when I can use it with my fire, create lava, but it just doesn't comply on it's own. I'm trying to create armor out of the earth, but if I can only cover my feet or my hands, and then for only a period of time, it's not that helpful."

Caroline sighed and sat down facing him. "Yeah, Phorros is tough. I guess it's just a lot easier to move something that isn't solid." Running her fingers over the stone in her hand, Caroline suddenly had an idea. Arranging several stones in a circle, she closed her eyes and focused on tapping into her Phorros element. Once she had it, she touched each stone in turn. When she touched the second one, the first one snapped to it like it was alive. Each stone she touched after that did the same, until she had a pile of them stuck together. "That's it," She said happily. "That's how I can move them." Glancing up at the boy, she realized he probably had no idea what was happening. "Sorry, I just had to try it. I just magnetized the rocks, making them move on their own. I don't suppose that's helpful to you, is it?"

After about ten or twenty tries of summoning water Forest was drenched, she sighed and changed into a sundress that she had always had. She put her hair in a bun and walked around outside until she found two people, a girl and a boy chatting. She didn't want to bother them but had no where else to go. "Hi." As she saw them using Phorros she smiled and her eyes brightened.

Austin watched her in confusion, frowning. What on earth was she doing? Even when she got them all stacked on top of each other, he was still having utter confusion. When she did look up at him and explain he nodded slightly then said," ok... So you control it with magnetism... Yeah that doesn't really help me..." He heard another person approach and he turned slightly, looking at the person that said hi. He didn't mind talking to one person, but two people, that he didn't trust.. That was a bit harder. He said slowly," hi..." He obviously didn't carry the same cheerfulness of the newest girl.

"N--N-N-n-n-n-Nessie" Nessie said, "if y-you c-c-can s-stand my s-s-s-stuttering, I d-don't s-see why n-not" SHe said, looking up, realising she was covered in food, and probably looked like a fool, she glanced down, and away from the boy.

"Umm..." I've gotta think of a decent reply "If you can stand my pauses, then we'll be fine." That wasn't too bad. "Er... So what happened?"

" She trailed off, brushing a strand of spaghetti out her hair, "A-And I'm c-c-covered in f-f-food"

Kai sat in his room with the door shut, he thought he saw Nyx but he was wrong, must be something to do with Flickering..
He had the door shut and.. was thinking what to do..

He waited.. so when whoever opened the door, would come in he would flicker as wide as he could and then when they where inside hid shut the door and run away.

Forest turned to leave the two, as soon as she did she went back to the dorm. "Hello?" She asked as she entered and with a shrug went to her own room.

"Kai realised it was forest ant flickered back in nearly scaring her.. he was hyperventilating.... "Somones (breath) trying (breath) to Kid (breath) nap me!" he said falling to the ground using up too much energy from flickering so fast.

"Err..." I'm not sure how to deal with this.... Talk about yourself, see if you can shift the focus..... Hopefully that'll work. Mason continued, "Ya know, I had a lot of brothers too, some sisters, but a lot of brothers. Honestly, I like the space; but I miss them." Crap, I ended on a negative note. I suck at conversations.

Mainly b-because m-my mother d-d-died w-when we were k-kids, and t-they followed my f-father's e-example, b-because I look like h-her" Nessie sighed, and dropped her head in her hands, "S-so I f-feel like I h-have to be g-good, and not seek t-trouble, and...and...n-not b-be who I a-am. Every time I use E-elpis, I f-feel like I h-have to s-struggle to keep one half of m-me a-alive and every t-time I use V-Viper, I feel like I h-have betrayed my b-brothers and f-father" As she continued to talk, her stutter seemed to grow less pronounced, and she looked back up at Mason, "a-and now I'm s-sitting here, c-covered in food because I s-stormed away and d-didn't look where I was g-going, which is u-usual for me"
