[IC] Fractions: A New Age

Kyron raised his eyebrow in interest as she spoke about Z. He had not yet made it back from solitary to see the fight with Z, but it still got his attention at the mention of it. He chuckled and rolled his eyes, "Great, what better to have than a FOURTH older brother. After I get my viper under control, I am soooo challenging him to a rematch. Not for a grudge or anything, just want to try and beat him next time. That healing thing he did was so unfair!"

They made it to the cafeteria where Kyron ordered a couple slices of pizza and a soda, sitting there with his food as he waited for Caroline to pick something to eat. "You two seem pretty close knit, thats good to have with a sibling." he commented.

Caroline got her food and sat down with him, suddenly subdued. "Hey, remember when I told you my parents died in the war?" She asked, not touching what she had ordered. "That wasn't entirely true. My parents are still alive, in that the people who gave birth to me still have heartbeats. I never had any parents in the traditional sense of the word, Alex is the person who raised me. When the call came to round up defects, those two wanted to turn me in, they wasted no time ratting me out. It was Alex who pulled me out of there and brought me here." She slowly started eating, not looking up at him.

Kyron stopped to listen as she told him about her parents. The way they ratted her out... it reminded him a lot of how the people of his town ratted himself out. It sickened him to see how some people could be so cruel... even to their own kid,,,

He gently placed a hand over hers and gave her a gentle smile, "A kid never gets to choose their parents...Some people dont realize some of the best things they have until its gone, and some people are just too ignorant and stupid to realize it at all. You deserved much better than that Caroline, I can tell you that. Youre too good to have had to deal with that crap. And Alex seems to look out for you well. He's a good brother to you, and im sure itll stay that way"

Forest sighed and entered the cafeteria, she saw two others as soon as she arrived, most definitely a couple, just by the way they acted together made it clear. It was...disgusting, she was sure that she had seen those two before though. She couldn't place the faces to the numerous names they had listed off at the hospital though. It was frustrating.

She walked towards them and started staring them down. "Luna said I needed to interact with others, you two seem fine."

Tears dropped onto the table as Caroline shook. "I know, but..." Suddenly she broke down and threw her arms around him, sobbing. When she had gotten some control over herself, she spoke. "Sometimes I wish I knew what it was like to have your mother tuck you in at night, or your dad chase away the monsters. Alex taught me how to take care of myself, but I don't think I wanted to know how to use a dagger when I was seven, or fight three people at once when I was 12. I don't know what it's like to be normal, and I hate it." She managed to pull herself together enough to wipe the tears from her eyes. "I never told Alex how much I hate this life. He's doing the best he can."

listening to what Caroline told him, he realized they were not so different after all. Leaning forward, he wiped the tears from her face and said, "When it comes to having real parents, I can tell you I dont know shit about that. My mom left when I was just a toddler and my dad is a hardass military captain. I grew up in a slum where it was fight or get the shit knocked out of you. The first person I fought was when I was nine, broke the guys arm, both his leg, and shattered his nose. Had I grown up any other place I would probably be more worried about the next time I would get to watch tv or something."

He scooted closer to her and wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling her close and saying, "Look, I kind of suck at trying to say positive stuff, but for you ill make an effort. It doesnt matter if you grew up in the stereotypical normal life or grew up in a shithole. Life is lived the way you lead it to be, for the good and the bad. I guess what your brother did for you is trying to prepare you for the bad, but at the same time trying to put some good into it by being there for you."

He chuckled then added, "If you wanted to know about normal, Ill tell you I dont know shit about it. But I guess while we are here in this world, lets be our wonderfully crazy unnormal selves together."

After he said this, he noticed a new girl coming to their table. "Glad to know we seem fine" he said sarcastically, but managed to smile and show he was not being serious about it.

Forest flipped him off with a smile that could cut like the sharpest of knives, her eyes bore into his as she finally and utterly snapped, spewing curses and laughing at the fact the girl was crying, when all of these things were said and written into stone she seemed to regain herself. "So, I believe that is my fault. I am going insane. Comas are said to do that, it just isn't shown or read in dramas."

Althenez turned to see the boy with red hair and glasses and returned his hello with a wave. "Hello." She said politely. Yes, she could be a flirt, but if someone is being friendly towards her the better chance she's not going to awkwardly hit on someone.

Luke smiled at the reply finally, "I just thought I'd try and talk to someone, instead of just wandering around" He said, with a shrug, "I'm Luke" He added, trying to be friendly. It really was better then just wondering around like an idiot.

Ping ping. Keele continued to hack upon another student's sword with as much force as he could. When the sword shattered, he disabled him by slicing through his abdomen before the entire space destroyed around him, ending the simulation. "That could've been worse, but lucky it was just simulation." He sheathes his weapon and stores it away. "I'll see you around~" He exits the room and into the corridor where he strolled around

She finally turned the rest of her body, her face in a content smile. "Yeah, that was pretty much plan B for me." She walked a few paces closer and reached out her hand. "My name is Althenez. Nice to meet you." She left her hand open for a firm shake before dropping it back down and swayed awkwardly.

"I'll never be able to pronounce that" Luke said honestly, shaking her hand. "Can I just call you Allie? That's easier" He said with an almost shy smile, noticing her swaying, he frowned, "are you okay?"

She laughed, that was the usual reaction she got to her name. "Allie? I've never been called that. My family call me Aya, but either works I guess." She shrugged her shoulders but continued to smile to be honest that she really didn't mind. She spaced out momentarily before blinking at his question and realized she had given off a awkward vibe and rearranged her position. "Sorry, I do that." She smiled sheepishly.

Luke smiled sweetly, "Aya's okay too" He said, "That's okay, spacing outs an easy thing to do. So, obviously if you were going to be wondering around, You're new too" He said, he put his hands in his pockets, slouching slightly as was his habit. He seemed at ease, and he waited for her to speak, taking a hand out his pocket and pushing his glasses back up his nose. The damned things didn't fit properly, and he always forgot to look at them.

She sighed as in exasperation. "I got here a few hours and already have about three people who hate me." She laughed sarcastically but you could really see how much in bothered her in her eyes. "Well I did walk in the middle of a ginormous fight, and the girl was ready to hit me for messing around to much." She laughed a bit and shrugged, "I'll make sure to apologize soon enough... I am guessing you're new too?"

"It looked like a pretty intense fight" Luke said, "How could anyone hate you?" He said with a shrug, "I'm sure it was just the fight, and worried that you might get hurt, who knows?" He wanted to reassure her that it was okay, "I'm sure everyone will be friendlier once they all cool down and are clean" He nodded, "Yep, only got here a little bit ago, and really only ran into my sister and the guy she was with. I'm not at all sure what to do here" He said, "No ones told me anything, really"

She nodded in agreement. "I was just kind of dropped off here and that was it, but that's pretty cool your sister is here. My brothers are both are elpis and I was the only one born with Elpis and Phorros." She laughed then pointed to her eyes, one bright blue, and the other hazel. "That's why I was born with these. It wasn't exactly easy to hide that I was a fraction." She shrugged. "I know that the North hall was meant for us students, I wonder what it is about."

Luke listened, quite content to, "I was born Elpis, my brother and sister too. Nessie got Viper, and I got Lucen. Our middle brother just has Elpis. I think he's jealous" He said with a shrug, "I doubt you could be the only one with bi-coloured eyes, so why would people assume you were fraction because of that?" He wondered, "North hall...I have no idea where that is"

She glanced back with a "Right?" look when he mentioned her not being the only one with colored eyes. "That's what I said, but as soon as there was a bounty over Fractions in the community, everyone in our county assumed I was one just because of my eyes, it was just ironic." She laughed, but she understood what it was like to have jealous sisters and brothers, except when she was pulled out of her own mercilessly and dragged to this place. "It used to bug me but now, I embrace them." She winked both eyes playfully. "You know, you're pretty easy to talk to." She played with a piece of her hair out of habit as they spoke.

Nyx yawned heavily, the pain in her shoulder decreased as the days went by and it was now becoming bearable but not by much. She sat up and looked at her wounds that hadn't bled through as badly as before. Only small blotches here and there across her chest and down her arms a bit. She sighed heavily and stood herself out of the bed, deciding not to look her wounds again she stretched her body and decided she wasn't going to wake Alex up. She quietly put on clothes that would cover her entire chest and arms, but you could still see the bulky bandages from her sweater. She had to get out of the room, and the last thing she wanted was to worry Alex. She would only go get something to eat, and let the poor man rest for once.
