From the looks of it, you can choose anything that doesn't make it overpowered. My character has one mutation with an active and a passive ability. Others also have mutations with other passive and actives abilities linked to that somehow. It's up to you and most things are good as long as it doesn't get all over the place, I think ^^

So... can one choose one one power/mutation/gift or could they use two minor ones?

Mostly Mutants only have one Mutation/Gift/Power though that one power may have several applications

Morena will be studying Danny and River and their strange romantical encounter, then she will fall out of a bush screaming because her gem thing is glowing like crazy.

I just picked one of the guys because I did not remember if a girl was even out there.

Everything is fine with me. We're like 5 people in the same location and River is free to interact with. Heathen hasn't really replied, and I can understand that he's busy.
Anyone who wants to approach River can. I just kind of need to head off to bed in like 20 minutes now, though.
