But, as I said, he was always more dangerous (it seemed) when he being autonomous. Also, has anyone else wondered how Justin Law fought before he became a Death Scythe? It would have been pretty difficult...EDIT: He generated his chain without giving up any body parts... Ergo, Death Scythe, or something similar.

First, I'm sure Justin's Meister had to be strong enough to swing him around, like what's his face from bleach.

Secondly, there's no way to tell if Giriko gave up a part of his body or not, since the chains themselves aren't that large. The amount of his body he had to give up could have been easilly concealed, or just limited to the area directly beneath the chains. His weapon wasn't like a scythe, where the blade of the weapon directly corresponded to a bodypart.

Thirdly, interesting fact, Maka is on the same level as a Death Scythe according to this factor, at least when she's asleep. When she fell unconscious during the fight with Ashira, she could use her Weapon blood to form scythe blades on her body. It's even more impressive because she's only HALF weapon.

No, they don't. Justin Law was a Death Scythe, and as such, is an exception. The Golem had part of Arachne's soul, which must have been the soul wavelength Giriko used.

Demon Weapons cannot use their own Soul Wavelength in combat.

I choose to ignore the part of the anime that says Maka has demon weapon anything. How can you be HALF weapon when all weapons come from one made by Arachne?

We have only seen two autonomous weapons in the series (unless you count Tezca? I think he did some things autonomously), one of which did not use his wavelength, the other of which is a Death Scythe, meaning he'd be on a whole other level whether he was autonomous or not. Any weapon that is not a Death Scythe cannot use soul wavelength abilities without the use of a Meister, and only a select few Meisters can use their wavelength abilities without a Demon Weapon.

There's a reason the whole Meister/Weapon thing exists, basically.

Her father was a weapon, remember? She was the child of Spirit (A Death Scythe) and the woman who I learned the name of once but forgot (A Meister). Therefore she has Meister blood from her mother and Weapon blood from her father, allowing her to fill either roll. Since something like that hadn't happened before, they assumed Maka could only be a Meister since her weapon blood was dormant.

in the manga it is largely implied that Humans and weapons of great spiritual power and training can be plenty powerful and self reliant. This is demonstrated possible for both humans and weapons ( Mifune being literally having the strength of 99 souls in the manga and Giriko's own soul become so powerful and full of hate that it collapses on itself )

So theoretically Justin Law always had the proper amount of soul wave length to be a solo fighter and made himself a death scythe. Much like how Black star can preform attacks that do damage on a soul level because of how powerful his own is. But these kind of characters are 1 in a million, literally only having the three I've mentioned ( 4 if you include Stine and how powerful he is with out a weapon as well )

It is why my whip girl failed as a solo weapon, she has an average soul wave length so while she has the technical skill she can't make up for her lack of power with out a partner.

But that is pulling a bit more from the manga than it is the show, so take all that as you will.

I'm definitely with Cirus on this one. The reason she became a Meister was because she never showed any ability or potential to transform, and in the manga it stayed that way. The whole Maka-is-also-a-Weapon thing just came out at the very end of the anime because... Well, I actually don't know. I don't know why they ended the anime there at all. It seemed like an odd choice.

Autonomous weapons make up for their lack of soul wavelength with physical power and skill. The whole reason the meister/weapon relationship is so important is because they rely on each other. Meister produces the wavelength, weapon amplifies it. That is why a weapon cannot produce their own. Because they amplify wavelength they are given.

Anime ran out of budget or something. Not enough time to get to the end of the arc, etc.

That's beside the point. Manga came first. Manga is canon. Maka also being a weapon is stupid and I hate it. Bravery Wavelength is just some made-up bullshit to bring everything to a close quickly. The fight against Asura lasts sooooo much longer.

I think what all this boils down to is that Jivusa needs to rethink the autonomousness of his character. My advice is to change the weapon form into something much more esoteric, where the only possible option for him is to be autonomous...

-Dons super nerd glasses-

ACTUALLY~~~~~ It was due to the manga had not yet ended and had a great deal to go still, in fact it only ended august of last year, so much like original anime for full metal alchemist they went and made their own ending. I personally hope that means we can expect a 'Soul eater: Brother Hood' ( I'd like the name to be something like 'Soul Eater; Second Course' ) in the future now that the manga has finished.

I mean, yeah, it's cool as a closing. It works for the anime, 'cause that's where it ends. But it flies in the face of everything else. If Maka's weapon powers woke up at that point, she'd lose the ability to be a real meister. She could still swing Soul around, but it wouldn't be as effective, or at least the effectiveness would drop off as Maka's Weapon abilities began to take shape.

*looks over at Kitt* Oh, is that it? I see. Well then.

Yes, I'd like to see a Second Course, myself.

It's nothing against you, chukklehed. The reason I didn't like it is that it marginallized the whole "working together" theme that permeates the entire series. Even Shinigami, who is basically a God, is not at his full potential unless wielding a Demon Weapon... Having Soul kind of thrown to the wayside like that was disappointing to me.

EDIT: Having read the manga and seen Brotherhood... Yeah. The original FMA anime kind of pales in comparison, at least for me. I'm right there with you, Kilt, I really hope they come back to Soul Eater and bring the rest of the story to the screen.

I think if they took the anime, continued from where they left off and didn't change lines back to the Manga version, it could become a really interesting Divergence and could change the entire story. I honestly find it REALLY boring when an anime follows the EXACT path of the manga, because then there's absolutely no point in reading them both, which is why I dislike FMA: Brotherhood.

Also, started reading the Manga again, and Justin did indeed become a death weapon without the use of a Meister.

That's your opinion and you're entitled to it. But I'm not buyin' it, so Demon Weapons cannot use wavelength. Not until they're Demon Scythes, but at that point, you've transcended 'Demon Weapon'.

What's my oppinion? That Justin was an autonomous weapon? That's not an opinion, that's a fact that was directly stated by Stein in the manga. Just about the time he started beating the shit out of him with Marie.

No, your opinion is that the direction they went with Maka at the end of the anime is valid and not disappointing. Cirus' is that is was not valid and it was disappointing.

The fact that Justin is autonomous is just that, and isn't at all what we have been talking about. No one ever doubted that Justin had always been autonomous.
