Well, This is my first roleplay where I am having characters have numerical stats, and those stats affecting the roleplay.....So, the basic idea is that there are two great forces. One, the dark and grotesque darkside, and the militaristic, cold and unfeeling Lightside. Oh, and there is one man who decided screw those two, and started his own group. You may know him, the one, the only....SOLAIRE OF ASTORA! Ok, all funny game show cliches aside, Solaire is the leader of the middle group. The "grey" area of people. Each faction has its advatages, weaknesses, and straight out wacky traits. They will be expanded on, and most likely modified as we discuss before I start the true rp. I will be waiting for a while, so I can have input from other people. This is meant to be fun for the rpers, so I will be open to suggestion. Now then, onto the stats.

Int, or intelligent. This stat governs some magic, and general smarts.

Srt or strength. This stat governs how powerful your attacks are, and how heavy a weapon you can use.

End or Endurance. This stat governs stamina and resistance to some attacks, such as sleeps spells. or stun weapons.

Will. Will is your bread and butter. Not sure what to level? Will is a good thing to level, not matter who or what you are using. Will determinds pain tolerance, resistance to mind control, and the ability to enthrall creatures. It also gives you a slight bonus to Srt, end and faith, but not nearly as much as if you had leveled them directly.

Faith, or Fth. This governs a character's faith to either their chosen entity, or allows characters to call upon the powers of the gods of their faction. This is a good stat for people normally without magic, for it allows them to gain powers akin to the leader of their faction.

Agility, or AGL governs how limber, and graceful your character is. High agility can lead to your character dodging arrows, and even bullets!

Now then, each stat can only go up to 100, and as such, depending on the faction, at certien points these stats will have a tangible in pact on battle. Again, this is to be decided as we talk out some rules. Now, For example, someone with 30 int is a pretty smart person, able to do more advanced magic and knowledgeable in a great number of things. Someone with 100 int can tell you how your atomic particals are moving, and use magic that can rend planets and destroy whole armies of god like fighters. getting a stat to 100, is a fairy big deal, as it puts your character at GODLY levels of power.

Now, for the leveling system. In this rp, to level up, you must consume souls. Each faction has different ways of leveling up, and as I have stated before, are subject to change. The general gist of things are, you go, kill monsters (or other players, if you think you got the spunk.) and harvest souls. These souls in turn, make your characters Bigger better faster stronger. There are different catagory of souls, and as such, will be expanded upon when we start to finalize the rules and such.

Well, thats it for now. What ever input you put forward will be considered, so feel free to speak up.

I've never really been one to do a RP like this, so no. :/
Edit: There would have to be different classes for stuff, right? For beginning stats and then level out from there.

Well, no. You have a certain amount of stats to allocate when you bring a character in.

Well, now when you start you must choose a faction. Also, you get 70 points to allocate at the start.

The stats thing sounds like fun, but you should allow players to create factions of their own. I like the idea of Solaire creating his own group, but perhaps it's better to delegate that role to the players in this situation.

I'm joining, BTW.

I'd like to know how the stats will actually operate before I decide to join. Will they just represent the limits on what we can do? Will you be providing a scale as to the tangible benefits of the incremental increase?

Yes, but as I said this is more or less a development period. I am thinking of having it be every ten levels, it has a impact, but in some scenerios, it a direct roll against stats. Such as, for example, a magic based invisibility based on int, being rolled against another's int, to see though said magic. Also, stats will effect how the character acts in some ways.

Well, I'll allow it, but they run the risk of being overwhelmed and destroyed.

Alright, here's my input. A character can have stats to determine their attributes, such as being very smart, strong or fast. However, in addition to that, there are absolute powers, which grant the ability to, for example, teleport from place to place. These powers should be seperately listed, and have a fixed effect. The capability of such powers should quite probably be dependent on one's stats, and you, as GM, will link each power to a stat.

I don't think that's a good idea, wiz. It basically makes the stats useless. Howere I too have concerns for any game with a fairly new gm and numbers. There's gonna be problems, and one of those is the player who keeps making npc's and killing them, or whatever it takes to be written, just to become superpowers asap. Are there gonna be dice rolls, or does the stat alone determine the victor? Lastly, I don't think I want to be on any of you factions. Neither of them fit my classical fancy. And Solaire being between them is just you breaking your own rules.
This is a great idea, but it needs some tweaks.

Well, there is a three character rule, one for each faction, and as for combat, it would depend on stats, and the attacker/defender's traits. As wiz stated, the trait system will link a certian ability ((teleportation, flight, invisibility ect.)) to a single stat. As that stat gets leveled, the ability gets stronger.

Ok guys, I am thinking of every ten levels, a stat gets sorta a boost. as I will list here.

0-10, utter novice. (Don't expect much, in fact, this stat is near useless at such low numbers.)
10-20 apprentice. (Ok, you're getting there. At this levels the basics are under your belt, and you can pull of some slightly advanced things.)
20-30 Journeyman (The basics are second nature, and the advanced is not entirely foreign to you. At this level, you are looking at really starting to get use out of your stat.)
30-40 Experienced practitioner (The advanced is like the back of your hand, and master level spells are possible, but you aren't the best of the best.))
40-50 master (Here, you are rivaling the greats. You have pushed yourself to the human limit.)
50-60 ground breaker (otherwise known you have surpassed all other people other than those in this conflict. here, characters will be able to create new spells, survive fatal wounds, break apart mountains with their attacks ect.)
60-70 Monstrous. (Here, you are becoming more god like in your power. Your spells can create seas of fire, Warriors can slash though entire armies, You are able to survive being cut in half vertically, and still fight.)
70-80 Godly. (You are nearing the power of the gods. Here, you are a threat to most anything, and depending on what stat is this level range, you may get a few really cool toys....)
80-90 Ultra powerful. (Again, nearing god status.)
90-100 TITANIC! (You are at god powers. The very gods who summoned you are at this level, and you now have gotten to their strength. At this level killing the enemy god is possible, but it will still be a tough fight. Expect planets to be destroyed when ever this stat (if an attack stat) is used, or if end, you will be night immortal at this level.

Also, if you wish you may get more points in exchange for a increased cost to your levels, or you may not use points to get a soul level discount. again, this goes by tens.
