Hmm.

Playing a Gorilla? Workable. Scientist Gorilla, possible.

But his Origin clashes with the Continuity of the RP too much. For the purposes of the RP, barring the Supernatural almost all of the weird stuff happened after the Awakening. So he could be someone that was mutated into a Gorilla by the Awakening. He could be a scientist who tried to make Super-Soldiers post awakening. He could even be an extremely rare animal that was awakened into sentience. But as is, it just clashes too much.

Post-awakening super soldier program seems most likely, come to think of it. I'm going to be honest, I copied that over from a Silver Age Mutants and Masterminds game.

Haha alright, just rework your sheet to reflect what we've discussed. And I'm going to need you to ditch the plasma gun, because that's kinda outside his specialty as a Scientist. Your character's work on a Super-Soldier program could also be a preface for some plots I have in mind. But Gorillas are already much stronger than a man so having one be genetically altered on top of that might be a bit much.

Oh, the extent of the gorilla's genetic modifications was going to be from a really early batch of the serum- minorly enhanced intelligence for a gorilla, as well as increased longevity. I'll swap the plasma cannon out for a taser if that's okay, since it's a less-lethal weapon that's a bit more publicly accessible.

EDITED :D
Name: Jack Shawn

Codename: Deckard

Age: 21

Gender: Male

Place of Birth: Colorado, Denver

Affiliations: Under a mentor (Adoptive father), Devereux

Occupation: -None-

Appearance: An averaged sized man, donning black hair from his heritage with a few strands of blonde in him. He is slender
due to his constant urge to perfect the art of Gun Kata, which involves running. He has a scar running from the corner of his lip to back of his ear.

Wears average clothes from time to time and has a penchant for Scarves
He wears a special cloak when hunting for criminals, the cloak is dark red in color.

Powers: Has the ability to manipulate wind (Not Generate them... yet), allowing him to sheathe his weapon with wind which helps it slice through enemies easier and quicker,
making it effectively painless as well.
He can also summon gales and direct them at a high velocity towards an enemy and can also use it to glide around as a means of travel; however he is not very skilled in this section as of late. He can also make a wall that will block a few projectiles but is not very sturdy as a few attacks can rip it open and pick up light objects on the floor with wind.

Skills:
Trained by his adoptive father, his endurance, strength and agility are noticeably higher than that of an average person.
Though he can run remarkably fast, his strength isn't as good as other the heroes.

-Trainee Marksmanship-
Trained in Gun kata.
He can use his Guns at close quarters range as melee weapons, but would prefer to stay a safedistance away.

-Above average Freerunner-
Due to not being able to use his powers at its highest potential as yet, he has adapted free running to give chase or retreat from danger.
-Above average intellect-
Jack can create and formulate strategies in his head, though not as effective as the other heroes who are exceptionally more clever.

Equipment/Resources:
Jack's cloak has the ability to withstand slight levels of elemental attacks but doesn't
fully protect him. It was obtained by his adoptive father through the underground.

Dons dual guns as his primary choice of weapons for combat but can also use a vast array of other types of firearm.
His adoptive father has a few special connections within the underworld and can normally get things done that other people
can't. Though his contacts are limited and will not be able to get him everything he might need.

Weaknesses:
Jack's power of manipulating wind will be useless in a vacuum or in space, he also barely has any experience with his newfound
powers. He has to be careful around fire users as wind can make their power even more deadly. Although he has powers, that does not mean he is invulnerable, as his powers are still growing and manifesting within him.
Even though he can fight people at close quarters, he is not as skilled as other people in melee range.

Psychological Profile:
Jack isn't a people's person. He's the type to keep to himself, a lone wolf per se. Even so, his integrity towards social justice and his moral code
urges him to help people who are in need, and will not ever hesitate to save people in a plight.

Even though he has a general
distrust of people, he still treasures all his loved ones and will go through great
lengths for them. People tend to underestimate Jack, which he uses to his advantage.

He doesn't like talking about his past and tends to avoid the subject, though he has a somewhat dry, crude humour which is often laced with sarcasm.
He is ruthless in battle and does not hesitate to eliminate a person who will prove to be a threat in the future.
He also has a soft side, that he has shown to a few select people.

Biography:
Jack, born and raised in Denver, Colorado, grew up with only a father as his mother died giving birth to him.
His father tried to do everything he could for Jack, and he was, at the time, Happy.
He had a childhood friend called Jane, they spent alot of time together, often playing in the woods and doing things
together.

Jack, considering his reclusive demeanour, got picked on a lot by many people, namely schoolmates-
even to the point where he'd attained a scar involving a
vicious attack with his pursuers at some point in his life.
The scar ran up from the corner of his lips to his ears.
The bullies ended up getting fended off by Jane. She was the one who always told Jack to stand up for himself, to pick himself up whenever he gets pushed down and to generally just stop being a pussy. "Life is what you make of it and nothing's going to happen if you spend your time cowering in the corner."
-Needless to say, when she moved away she was extremely worried about Jack, and thought about him throughout her journey.

As Jack got older, he tended to be non-confrontational as he looked at the world with a grey-tinted filter. He figured life would be easier for him if he just stayed a safe distance away from everyone. Naturally, being a social recluse, he did not have that many friends during this phase.
During this reclusive stage (And the Awakening), his powers had begun to manifest.

When Jack discovered his new-found powers accidentally, he was shocked and awed. He had no idea how and why he was blessed with a gift like this, nor did he know how to fully control it.
Life was normal for Jack, until one unfortunate night. He was casually lounging on the backseat of his father's car, watching and waiting as his father walked towards it.
It was during the wee hours of the night that a merciless mugger decided to ambush his father. Whilst watching his father get assaulted, Jack tried to access his newly found powers,
but found that he couldn't and to his horror was paralysed in his seat, forced to watch his father get overtaken, shot and have his corpse looted. This has led to his personality growing ever darker.
He saw how cruel, desperate and selfish
humanity could be that night. What he noticed about the mugger however, was the scraggly scar that ran across his pulsating jugular which resembled a 'Z'.

After his fathers death, the mugger all could not be found by the police and after a week of inverstigation was
dropped from the police, while he begged and pleaded the police to continue the case further, they simply coudn't
because of other 'pressing cases'. Jack fell in a deep state of depression as the last person who cared for him just, vanished.

Adopted by a mysterious man, Devereux, with who seemed to have connections with his father.
Throughout the years, Jack had asked for his father- Devereux skillfully avoided the subject but did mention that
he owed his father a huge debt. He trained him vigorously in the art
of Gun Kata to ultimately help the kid with his revenge, against the murder of his father.

Jack heard of the League through Devereux, and was prompted to join,
while at first, he didn't like the idea of working with other heroes
due to Devereux's persistance
and his drive to find his fathers murderer.
He now works side by side with the new 'heroes'.

I remember being new, we were all there once. For a first-timer it's ok, but there are still some issues. Keep in mind everything I say is not a comment on you personally. I simply want to help you become a better roleplayer and writer.

1. Powers. He seems more like a Metahuman than a Supernatural and as such he can't really imbue or "enchant" his weapons with wind like you say. He can wrap them in fields of air he generates sure but not give them elemental qualities. Also telepathy doesn't really fit his powerset and it should be left out. Regeneration isn't a skill and there should be realistic defined limits, he shouldn't bounce right back after taking direct rounds into the torso.

2. Skills, I need concrete and realistic statistics for his skills and traits. They should be consistent to his skillset. A free-running ninja type may be stronger than he average man but they shouldn't be able to bench-press like a real weight-lifter for example. And seeing as how the Awakening took place five years ago ic, then he shouldn't be a Master swordsman. It takes a very very long time to be truly adept at swordsmanship, usually around a decade or more. And if you also have skill with knives and guns you really have to choose which you would be adept at and be realistic about what you can do with them. Learning any weapon takes dedication and in only five years you're probably going to be much better at one weapon or weapon set than another, especially since learning Parkour is no cake walk either. And I need a good reason why someone would be learning modern combat with guns and knives along with mostly outdated swordsmanship, a lot of the time it's gonna be one or the other, otherwise you're going to have to choose which is emphasized. And then keep in mind that learning ancient combat is kinda unrealistic in most cases, especially since there's no real reason for your character to learn that stuff. Learning how to properly handle throwing knives or tomahawks works much better in most cases and fits better with someone who can be good with guns as well .

3. Resources and Equipment, Your mentor needs a name. He really does. Adoptive father is much too vague. And we need to know exactly what kind of resources he has access too. And we need to know why does he have them. Your mentor shouldn't be an endless bank account for your character to get everything he will ever need either. Your mentor should have realistic operational limits, he shouldn't have access to loads and loads of equipment. Your character can learn and get most of what he needs to get started in humble surroundings. You can always get better gear latter, specially since you have the League. And in this light I really can't sign off on a bullet-proof cloak. That takes either supernatural workings or some kind of highly advanced gadgetry that are pretty unrealistic for you to have. It's ok to start off with humble equipment. Faith went through all kinds of gun-toting guys without bullet-proof clothing.

4. The Katana. I'll try not to rant too much on this one. And this also kinda ties in with number two. But a lot of roleplayers, mostly beginners like yourself, arm their character with a katana when it really makes no sense for them to have it and there's no reason for them to have it besides katana's being "cool". I always get really wary when a character has a katana when there's really no discernible reason for them too. It usually devolves into them becoming a generic and cliche character that tries too hard to be badass. It's kind of strange that a guy from the Midwest should have a Katana, every other character that uses more ancient weaponry uses weaponry that is befitting to their culture and background. Like I said before he probably shouldn't even be trained in traditional weaponry since there's really no reason for it, and if there was then why wouldn't it be sabers or longswords? I'd really rather you just take out the whole sword thing entirely in face of all the issues I've raised in two and this one. You can always be like Connor and dole justice with a nice axe, that's much more grounded.

5. Background. I need a reason for the scar, otherwise it's just a cosmetic feature that lends nothing and seems like it's just there to look cool. And why is Jane included? Why is she important? She needs more detail on exactly why she's important to the character's development. And I want more explanation on why this guy needs to go Vigilante, since the police probably could have handled his father's murder pretty easily. There probably aren't that many low-life criminals with z-tattoos after all. You could just use the incident as some kind of Batman-esque igniting motivation. Also we need much more detail on this mentor, how's he's connected to his seemingly average father, and why he trained Deckard at all along with Deckard's motivation to go hero like I said earlier.

All in all, it's not terrible but it needs some work too. I don't want to discourage you and like I said none of this is a reflection on you. I'm just giving my thoughts on how you can improve your sheet and your roleplaying for the future.

As to the weapon, why not start off with a baseball bat, hockey stick or something else seemingly mundane like that. If you can use your powers to put an edge on it then it doesn't need to be a lethal weapon to be lethal.

Clanjos, That might work but you just need to work it into your sheet.

I still want you to do that but in the interest of moving things along since I'm leaving for a few days, Professor Primate is accepted. Just put it in the sheet when you can and you can start working on your first posts.

Yep, gimme me a day or less to rework or review it, thanks for the constructive criticism, it's gonna help alot in the review.
Thanks for your time, mate.

Edit:
For the power, he really doesn't enchant it, and can only surround it with it, atleast to the point where it helps it cut a bit better, though keep in mind,
Jack can't control his powers all to well, as no one could've taught him that (Not even the mentor)
Speaking of the mentor, I'd probably have to give a backstory to him or a name atleast huh.
For the weapon, I sincerely didn't know (mostly) everyone started with that, just though my character would go well with it, I guess.
Damn back to the drawing board

Also, mind giving me a heads up for a weapon, thinking of a gauntlet like weapon, which helps him manipulate wind better(?)
or I might go with Gun Kata. Hm

Note: Character sheet has been edited, see if it fits more OP.

Name:

Daryl Redman

Codename:

Furious

Age:

17

Gender:

Male

Place of Birth:

Los Angeles, California

Affiliations:

Daryl considers himself a lone wolf, and would deny having any affiliations with anyone if asked. He's managed to botch two LAPD investigations, so his relationship with the law is strained at best. He's had very limited interactions with the rest of the superhero movement, other than those that he deem 'the posers from Hollywood'. Anti-Meta movements consider him a prime target, and proof that meta's are dangerous, untrained and irresponsible. The People's Meta Defence Front, PMDF, are especially critical of him, though he's not got very many nice things to say in return.

Occupation:

N/A

Appearance:

Daryl is a well built teen, taller than most full grown men at 6 foot, with an impressive breadth of shoulders. Although muscled he doesn't look to heavy, built for a combination of strength and speed. His looks favour his father, having his movie star, swarthy good looks. Disdainful of 'fashionable facial hair' or stubble he tries to always be clean shaven, though he has trouble keeping his 5'0 clock shadow in check. His eyes are a deep brown, so dark that they can appear black. He usually dresses in loose fitting, comfortable old clothes, and a tattered old leather jacket that once belonged to his maternal grandfather.

His 'outfit' consists of black padded motor cycle boots, black wrestling tights with the word 'Furious', printed up the outside of the right leg in red writing, a loose black and red sleeveless hoodie, white cotton wrist wraps and a full face red mask to conceal his identity.

Powers:

Daryl's body has the ability to convert physical pain into theoretically limitless super-strength, speed, durability and regeneration. (I know it sounds like a game breaking concept, but let me try to explain myself!)

Daryl's resting rate, the level of strength he has before suffering any pain, is no more than the average for a boy of his size and weight who regularly engages in physical exercise. After that his powers will increase relative to the trauma he suffers. For example if he accidentally stubs his toe then the gain would only be slight, however if he was to be punched in the face by a champion boxer then his gain would be greater. This doesn't mean he does the most painful things to get stronger faster though, as at his resting rate he is no more durable than anyone else. If he was to be hit by a tank shell at resting then he would be blown apart just like anyone else. How ever, theoretically he could build his powers up to be able to withstand a tank shell.

His strength, speed and durability is fuelled by the energy his body builds while receiving pain. This means that although he gets more powerful, his time with that power is finite, having only until he has burned through his stored energy before returning to his resting rate. The harder he hits, the faster he moves, the more punches he takes, this all uses precious energy.

A downside to his increase in durability is that eventually things that powered him before will stop hurting, failing to give him any more power. To go back to the previous example, if the boxer was to punch him once then his increase would be great. The second time the boxer punches him then the increase wouldn't be as great, as Daryl's durability would have increase, negating the boxer's ability to hurt him. If the boxer continued to hit him eventually his strikes would have no effect whatsoever, except to hurt the boxers fist. This means if Daryl wants to build himself to Zenith level power then he has to constantly find more threatening foes.

Daryl's resting rate regeneration is actually higher than normal -Surface cuts and the like will heal over in the space of seconds- it has similar setbacks to his durability. Although having the ability to heal is useful to someone who routinely goes out of his way to get hurt it also means that the harder his body is working to offset the pain he's receiving then the less return he's seeing for it.

Daryl's pain tolerance is astronomically high, likely a secondary effect of his powers. Even at his resting he can take hits that would knock other men out and still keep on fighting. However he can still be 'overloaded' and knocked out. Too much trauma and his nervous system will shut its self down, a defence measure that even his superhuman body can't resist.

Skills:

Daryl is a talented fist fighter, athlete and wrestler, having competed in high school.

Other than that he was a gifted student, evident from the numerous awards he received for academics, though he plays the role of the brainless bruiser while under the guise of Furious to lure his foes into making mistakes.

Daryl's greatest skill is his ability to keep moving forward despite whatever hits he takes, physical or metaphorical. His self belief, determination and willpower sees him rising to any challenge.

Equipment/Resources:

Although they don't appear to be close he has access to vast wealth due to his fathers career. The one thing his father never seen him short for was money.

That said Daryl is very proud of his powers, preferring to try and utilise them rather than use any other means to solve his problems.

Weaknesses:

Daryl's power is only activated by physical pain, so spiritual, mental or emotional pain will NOT give him any increase.

His nervous system can be overloaded much like anyone else’s. Electrical attacks will lock his muscles, intense burns will knock him out, gases and poisons at resting rate will have near full effect. (His healing factor will help him deal with the toxins more effectively)

Daryl is headstrong, eager to take on all challenges and conquer them. He has more than once bitten off more than he can chew, though rarely learns his lesson.

Daryl has severe father issues. If a strong male figure was to offer him any sort of positive praise then Daryl would become very easy to influence.

Psychological Profile:

Daryl can appear to be no more than a typical teen. Arrogant, angry at the world, self obsessed yet desperate to show everyone what he's got to offer. Desperate to prove himself, he will go out of his way to earn respect, respect he will then claim to never have wanted.

Daryl has severe issues with his father. He has long been desperate to earn the old man's praise, throwing himself at several different challenges in the hope that his father would take notice of him. After years of fruitless endeavours Daryl claims to no longer want or need his father, but the truth is that he now does what he does just to get noticed.

Daryl has been raised in the lap of luxury, though has still suffered his share of hardships. This upbringing has coloured his attitudes and personality. He has very little 'street smarts', though his recent experiences have given him an admirable crash course.

Biography:

Born Diego Dominguez, the first and only son of famed, multiple Academy Award winning actor Miguel Domínguez and his supermodel/philanthropist wife, Sofira Redman, Diego's early life was the sort that most people dream about. Raised alongside the bright and the beautiful of Hollywood, Diego wanted for nothing. Very little went wrong for him, so there was very little to write about, until, that is, his tenth year on this planet.

His family had been at a charity function that his mother had been running. She had so many that most can't even remember what this fundraiser was actually for anymore. Needless to say the night went perfectly, with many a contribution made before the end of the night. It was about half eleven when Dominguez family decided to call it a night, Miguel carrying the sleeping Diego out in his arms. The young boy had no idea how much that night would change his life until he heard the screams and the screeching of tires. His father handed him to the nearest friend then ran into the street, skidding to a halt next to the prone form of Sofira. It wasn't until much later that Diego would find out that his mother had been hit by a drunk driver, who then raced from the scene. She died, but she didn't die easy, suffering nearly sixteen hours of agony before passing. Miguel, always an intense yet emotionally reserved man, retreated into himself. Right when Diego needed his father the most he couldn't find him, receiving only stony silence whenever he asked him for anything.

The driver was caught two weeks later, but was given a very lenient punishment by the courts. Miguel, appalled by this turn of events, left the acting world and entered politics with plans to eliminate such things from ever happening again. His skills at oration, passion and stone cold conviction propelled him into the spotlight, were he garnered masses of support for his platform on harsher punishments for potentially fatal irresponsibility's.

Diego was raised by a succession of harridan like nannies during this time, Miguel believing that it was time for the boy to grow up, and to coddle him to be a mistake. Diego, swiftly realising that life was never going to be the same again, tried to forge on under his new circumstances. He took up several athletic and academic endeavours, showing a keen intellect and competitive spirit at a young age, all in a desperate need to get some sort of acknowledgement from his father. Miguel never showed much response, but Diego was not to be deterred.

Then, five years ago, the awakening struck. Hundreds of super powered beings populated the earth, most untrained and irresponsible. Miguel had less time than ever for his son, fronting several anti-meta organisations. His political clout swelled, as the fearful rallied behind him. Diego still struggled against his father's indifference, heedless of the seeming impossibility of the task. It was during a boxing sparring match that his powers first manifested, Diego's durability and strength increasing until he accidentally punched his opponent clear out of the ring. His father, fearing the worst, got his son to the best, and most discrete, Meta specialist in the county. It was a bitter sort of irony, one of the county's biggest Meta critics the father of one himself.

The doctors studies revealed the worst, that Diego had the ability to convert physical trauma into potentially unlimited super strength, durability, stamina, speed and regeneration. Miguel made his son promise to give up all his extra curricular activities and withdrew him from school, instead hiring a string of tutors to teach the youth. None were allowed to find out the Dominguez's secret. For the first time Diego felt like he had no more to give. How could his existence possibly become more lonely. In his despondency he began to wander the empty rooms of the Dominguez mansion, eventually coming across the one time belongings of his maternal grandfather, Daryl Redman, including a diary. Daryl had been a soldier during the Vietnam war, eventually coming home after years of savage combat to a country that had more use for him. Battling against the indifference and sometimes hostility of his home Daryl managed to provide a good life for his family through sheer determination, eventually even helping other veteran's adjust to life back on home soil. Diego couldn't help but feel a kinship with the Grandfather he had never met, his own sense of alienation due to being a Meta seemingly mirroring Daryl's story. Diego realised however that despite his gifts he wasn't utilising them nearly as well as Daryl had, wallowing in his on defeat as he was. From then on Daryl vowed that he would live a life his mother and grandfather would be proud of, and stop trying to please his own father.

Taking a few belongings, including his grandfathers leather jacket, and renaming himself Daryl Redman to distance himself from his father, he took to the streets. The beginnings of his one man war on crime were disatourous, botching a police investigation that had been on going for months, though he has redeemed himself somewhat after foiling a recent super villain prison break. Nevertheless his desire to help and to further the pro-Meta cause are as fierce as ever, and with word spreading of a league of like-minded individuals being formed he is eager to join.

Notes:

He has called himself Furious as a misdirection. His foes will think his powers increase with how angry he becomes, rather than how hurt he is. It has proved useful with a recent battle with the robotic Pillbox.

Miguel Dominguez suspects that it is his son under Furious's mask, and so halts any investigations into the hero's true identity. Whether this is to protect himself or his son is anyone's guess.

Like his hero name, Ryker is a hot shot and can act arrogant and foolish at times especially when starts to show off, he also has a very big ego. Despite his lighter exterior, Ryker has a more sadder side that he keeps hidden which stem from his time as a pilot when he saw his best friend dai. Ever since he was discharged from the military not long after seeing his friend die, his emotional state deep down has been a sad one. He has a love of racing and when he is not doing hero work, he is busy trying to best racer in the world. Not only is he very talented at racing, Ryker is also very smart and designed all of his own gadgets when he became a superhero. Although he likes to be around other people, his hotshot attitude can make it hard for him to be a team player since he spent the past five years working alone with the occasional temporary time up with another hero. Politically he is moderately conservative and is critical of those he feel are hypocrites and have double standards. Like with his super speed, Ryker likes to live in the here and now, and doesn't worry himself about the future and prefers to leave the past behind. His life belongs in the fast lane and he hardly ever stops. His relationship with his wife is stable but there can be times when he seems to move too fast for her and he tries to slow down for her. Finally, through out his personality, he has a slight inferiority complex because despite his incredible, he thinks of himself not being as good and strong as the more powerful heroes. He also once suffered from traumatic stress do to the death of his friend, and the memory of his death can still be a very saddening thing to Ryker.

Biography: From the moment he could remember, Ryker almost had only three things on his mind, cars, gadgets and planes. He had dreams of being both a pilot and race car driver even though the idea of having both jobs at the same time would be considered impossible by most. He loved fast cars and he loved jet fighter planes, so much so that his childhood room was decorated with both. Almost all of birthdays up until he was twelve he asked for model planes and cars and radio controlled ones as well. The first books he started reading where about cars and aircraft, and he learned everything he could know about the vehicles. When he became a teenager he started delving into his talent with creating gadgetry and he began to tinker with stuff that most people considered junk. At age sixteen, Ryker was happy to finally get his driver's license and he eventually got his own car. Not long after he also got his first job working at an auto shop in his home town of Austin Texas and helping work on cars. He liked his job, but soon had to leave it to go to college and he hoped that he would be able to attend flight school to become a fighter pilot.

When he got his wish and got to live his dream as a fighter pilot, that was when things went bad for him. During his time at flight school, he became close friends with a fellow student named Alex, and they both dreamed of becoming the greatest pilots in the world. Both him and Alex graduated flight school with flying colors, and soon found themselves in the air force. Ryker and Alex were very happy to be in the air force, but almost two years after they joined, tragedy happened. Both Ryker and Alex were testing new planes that the air force had given several of its finest pilots, they seemd perfect but then there was a flaw in Alex's fueling tank and his plane exploded. Ryker couldn't believe what he had just seen, his friend's death and he felt the horrible anguish of seeing one you care about die. When he got back to base, he was different and suffered from post traumatic stress. Not too long after, he quit the air force and headed back home.

Despite leaving the air force, he still remembered his friend's death, Ryker still felt haunted by the image of Alex's plane being blown away and he began to fall into despair. After about three years of sadness and being alone, his life started to make a change for the better and that was when he met his wife Sally. When she came into his life, Ryker felt happier and suddenly the pain of his friend's death didn't feel as bad. But in order to not dwell on the sad times of his life, Ryker started living in the here and now and not dwelling too much on the past. He knew he was in love with Sally and when he twenty seven, they got married. With some encouragement from his wife, Ryker pursued his second dream of becoming a race driver. It was then that his life once again took another turn, this time it was a very strange one.

While he was racing in the national Grand Prix, his metahuman powers unknowingly causing his body to ignite into flames and he crashed car and he had to be sent to the hospital, but it wasn't long after he was released that he realized his incredible powers such as supersonic speed and flight as well as the ability to create tornadoes of fire. When he discovered his gifts, Ryker thought of his Alex's death and realized that he could save others from the pain of losing someone close to them whether it was by accident or by crime. When the Awakening happened and the area of costumed heroes began, Ryker followed their example and designed himself a suit modeled after the ones that race car drivers wear. He then made his high tech sunglasses and was ready to become the hero Hot Rod. In the five years of his hero duty, he has fought many villains, most of which were not the world conquering kinds but still no pushovers at all. His heroism has given him a big ego and his popularity is almost celebrity like. Now he has gotten an invitation to join the newly created League of Heroes and Ryker didn't want to pass up a chance to show off to the other heroes and please his fans. He is Hot Rod and he calls himself the fastest man on earth.

Name: Benjamin Brady/ Black

Codename: Sixgun

Age: 34, or maybe 158, depending on how you keep track

Gender: Male

Place of Birth: Chino Valley, Arizona

Affiliations: Sixgun is mostly an independent operator, though he does have sympathetic contacts in the Phoenix PD and is cut some berth. His main partner/ confidant/ adviser is a Phoenix-area Catholic priest, Father Julio Ochoa

Occupation: Barback, part-time vigilante

Appearance: Ben Brady is a tall and rawboned white man, dried up and constantly looking sunburned. In his Sixgun persona, he wears a modernized version of the classic cowboy ensemble: brown leather cowboy boots, blue jeans, a pistol belt, work shirt, brown motorcycle jacket, and white Stetson. He protects his identity through the simple expedient of a bandanna tied around the lower half of his face and secured with spirit gum.

Powers: Sixgun is pretty sure he has no powers, though he is unsure of what might happen if he's killed a second time. He's in no hurry to find out.

Skills: Sixgun's main skill lies in his extraordinary skill with firearms, particularly single-action revolvers. Having honed an innate talent with countless hours of practice, he is able to draw and let off aimed shots in a very small amount of time, less than a second on a good day. In addition, he is also skilled with a lariat and a Bowie knife, though not nearly to the same degree. He is also a competent (though untrained) hand-to-hand combatant, depending on a rough and ready combination of boxing and wrestling fundamentals. Sixgun also has some proficiency in riding and tracking, though these skills have gotten rusty with disuse.

Equipment/Resources: Sixgun carries two Ruger Blackhawk revolvers (.357 Magnum) on his pistol belt. A 10-inch Bowie knife is tucked into his right boot, and a rope lariat is ready to go at the small of his back. He also wears light body armor underneath his jacket. He has confiscated money stockpiled as well, taken from criminals and used to cover his expenses.

Weaknesses: Sixgun possesses all the frailties of a normal human being. In addition, he is still struggling to adjust to modern times- not only technology, but also changes in values, attitudes, and language.

Psychological Profile: Sixgun used to be a very greedy, bitter, and hateful man. Those inherent traits have not vanished, but he is now making a constant effort to suppress them and behave in a more ethical fashion. He feels a great deal of guilt over his previous life and wishes to make amends, "break even" as he puts it. In a crisis, he often has to stop himself from going with a first instinct in order to do something responsible instead. That said, Sixgun loves adventure and the thrill of a good fight.

Biography: Benjamin Black was born in the Arizona Territory in 1859. His mother died giving birth, leaving him with just his father Arnold, the operator of a remote trading post. The two were close, operating the business together and supplementing their income by hunting game in the high desert. Young Ben discovered a talent for shooting on these hunting excursions, and took to taking game with a revolver as a self-imposed challenge.

His peaceful life was interrupted in 1876, when a few escaped fugitives came upon the Blacks' post. Not content with ransacking the store for valuables and supplies, the leader of the band callously shot Arnold Black dead. Ben flew into a berserk rage, beginning a gunfight that killed two of the gang and sent the others in flight. Benjamin Black discovered at that moment that he had rather a taste for violence. With no further income, he abandoned the trading post and drifted into a life of crime.

Several audacious armed robberies later, Ben "the Sixgun Kid" Black was the leader of his own band of cutthroats. However, he had become cold, greedy, and crueler over time. In 1888, after killing a sheriff's deputy for no real reason except to pick a fight with the county's lawmen, Ben's gang tired of his reckless antics and put two rounds of buckshot in his back outside of Phoenix. He was carted away and given an unmarked pauper's grave in a little Catholic mission.

Fast forward to 2012 and the chaos of the Awakening.

Unnoticed amidst the darkness, panic, and lawlessness, a naked man clawed his way out of a grave in a churchyard that was now the Laveen district of metropolitan Phoenix. Confused and frightened, thinking for sure he was dead, Ben Black stumbled to the nearest building and pounded on the door, asking for help. The building happened to be the rectory for a sparsely attended, almost forgotten little Catholic church. The priest, Father Julio Ochoa, took him in, assuming him to be yet another victim of the disaster. As news of the Awakening came out and Ben discovered to his horror it was now more than a hundred years after his death, Ochoa realized that this man had been brought back to life after certain death, restored to the body of a 29-year-old man. The priest listened sympathetically as Ben haltingly recounted his past life, all of his misdeeds and cruelties. Looking back on his life, Ben realized it had been a waste. Why, he wondered, would such an evil man be brought back to life?

Father Ochoa contemplated this, and then made the simple suggestion that this was his opportunity to correct his mistakes, to lead a good and worthy life.

Ben embraced the idea wholeheartedly, particularly once the news of costumed crimefighters came out. Working with the priest, he was able to use the parish records of a Benjamin Brady who died as an infant in 1982. Overworked civil servants assumed he was one of the thousands who lost paperwork in the Awakening and issued him everything he needed to start anew. Though the transition to modern times was a bit rocky, Ben was still able to get a job as a barback at a popular Phoenix cop bar. Eavesdropping on officers discussing casework, he used his combat skills and knowledge of criminal minds (unchanged after all these years) to help apprehend drug dealers, gangsters, and other criminals. Gaining confidence and understanding of the new world of Phoenix, Ben has been slowly but steadily moving up the ladder of crime, gearing up to take on the Cartel presence in Phoenix. He has gained contacts and informants on both sides of the law. As far as anyone knows, he's a modern man who assumed a cowboy theme, only Ochoa knows of his resurrection.

Lately, though, he is beginning to feel as though what he is doing is insufficient towards righting his wrongs. Maybe he needs to set his sights a bit higher than drug rings. Maybe this League he keeps hearing about is the key towards "breaking even."

Plightz, I see you're taking inspiration from Equilibrium hehe. It's an interesting choice but it runs into the same problem of training and experience. For all practical purposes becoming a Grammaton Cleric is as difficult and intensive as becoming a master swordsman hehe. You could be a trainee with competent marksmanship but I would go with the idea of a gauntlet that helps with wind powers in addition to that. Or even a baseball bat, baton, or brass knuckles he wraps in wind to knock people senseless. When he gets more fine control he can even start throwing knives or other objects and direct them with wind currents. Everything else looks fine however. I'd like a PM with your plans and background with the mysterious Devereux, Z, and his father.

BlackSam, The sheet is looking good. The power is very interesting and seems to be a more grounded hulk-like character. Definitely more upper-tier than most of the characters but not gamebreaking.

Poly, This sheet hits all the right notes. SIxgun is accepted.

I think i'd stick with Gun Kata, I've seen people here and other topics use gauntlets way to much, lol. And yeah it was from the equilibrium, Cool movie overall!
I like the concept of Gun Kata, I guess I can make him a trainee, and instead of bullets i guess pellets would do, yeah?

Ok Plightz, Deckard is accepted.

And Yog, the powers are looking good so far. Though channeling makes it seem like some kind of mystical ability. Mimicking would be better language in my mind.

OK, she's not quite finished but I wanted to get the technical bits up for consideration.

Name: Captain Sonia Lewis

Codename: Thundercracker

Age: 25

Gender: Female

Place of Birth: Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States

Affiliations: 412th Test Wing, US Air Force

Occupation: Test Pilot

Appearance: In her undersuit. Will also wear normal Air Force uniforms (With her hair tied up) or civvies. Stands approximately 5’3”.

Powers: None

Skills: Sonia is a skilled pilot, holding a type rating on the F-16 Falcon, and hours logged in the F-35 Lightning jet fighters. She also has pistol marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat and SERE training as part of this background.

Equipment/Resources: Suit of advanced power armour powered by an experimental micro fusion generator. The suit was originally developed for a military contract, which fell through when the Department of Defence deemed the costs to be prohibitive.

The suit is equipped with a pair of prototype pulse blasters in the wrists, decoy flare launchers in the hips, miniature rockets in the shoulder blades, angled for use in horizontal flight, and flight thrusters capable of propelling the suit up to speeds around Mach 2. The undersuit is designed for minor small-arms resistance and to help mitigate G-forces incurred during use.

We’re also not sure how Sonia was able to recolour (it was originally painted in standard USAF “Compass Gray”) the armour like that and have the colour hold up under the friction at transonic speeds.

Sonia also occasionally carries an M11 handgun for defensive purposes.

For the most part the armour is stored in a bunker at an old testing range out in the desert.

Weaknesses: Sonia’s suit isn’t EMP hardened outside of the flight and mobility systems, rendering her weapons control systems vulnerable to electromagnetic interference.

Very nice, the sheet is looking quite well. The armor doesn't seem overpowered or anything and I quite like the idea. On the technical side, everything looks good. I just hope the bio sufficiently explains how she obtained the armor.

Perhaps the program ties in with the government's efforts to create super-soldiers? I could also use the armor as a sort of foreshadowing plot point for some future events.
