Realism is only an issue when a power is based off of realism, which this power is because it's based off of how super-speed like this would function.

Ignoring realism is good when something isn't intended to be realistic(I greatly prefer ignoring it honestly though for some things it's good), but this power is intended to be. At least that's how it reads and was attempted to be executed, which is the root of the problems.

Well, the line right before it was 'I hope it's not 747 level thrust', and it has nothing to do with any other arguments I've been making. So my arguments are not questionable.

Holy shit you people don't understand how sound works. First of all, he only puts out 150 decibels when flying around, the cloak is loud fucking wind about the sound of a lawnmower when he's not. That's it, stop arguing over it.

Second, the wind only has a range of two feet away from his body. He cannot project this wind any further from his body than two feet. That means the sound is obviously not projected infinitely in every direction, it dissipates. Emphatic does not shoot liquid balls of screaming air at people. If I wanted to make a character who was designed to fuck over the RP I would have. I made a guy who's a hero with upper level abilities. Why nobody else has done this is beyond me, but I did it. And now people are arguing over something that I stopped caring about last night.

Third, obviously I entered him with the intention to destroy the eardrums of every character in here. He's designed for the sole purpose of ruining the roleplay by being really fucking loud. The italics here emphasizes sarcasm.

Think critically for two seconds here. Every super power I have seen brought up in this thread are complete and utterly idyllic abilities. They're really cool and have few drawbacks. Not every power is gonna be like that. Because I don't make characters with anything idyllic, because that's not my style. And no, I won't change a thing about it. Because it's not an issue if you read my damned post!

I'm not hurting your super special characters with a screeching wind that's a few hundred feet above your head. You might feel a little bit of tingling in your ears from how loud it is, but it's not gonna kill you.


The reason I even MENTIONED how loud he is is because I thought it would be a good device to introduce the other heroes to the concept that Emphatic is loud. In a group founded by a fucking Demigod, Batman-2: Electric Boogaloo, and Super Sentry, I see little to no unrealistic way of saying. "Oh hey, Emphatic is really loud. So here's earplugs for whenever he's around." Emphatic has the drawback of being fucking loud. Too bad, so sad. His power isn't perfect, I don't make perfect characters. My characters always have massive drawbacks, and sometimes people don't like those drawbacks because they break the norm of your average list of drawbacks. "Oh, well his parents died and he has issues." No, Emphatic's god damn loud.

Hell! His name roughly translates to: "Loud as hell!"

But no, mentioning how loud he is labels him as a: "Character obviously designed to troll everyone else."

Mine is just 'remove the part causing problems'.

I think mine makes more sense and doesn't fix a problem by buffing a character unnecessarily.

I never intended to chase anyone out of the RP, though I have severe problems with how you responded to it that I will not get into here beyond not approving of the assertion that our characters are "super-special" just because we don't want them to be completely deafened all the time.

I had problems because this power was specifically intended to be realistic, and it's much harder to suspend disbelief for when something is intended to be realistic even when it is among unrealistic things.

If you really want to leave, fine.

he already explained it in his post that there is a barrier that keeps the sound from traveling far but it seems like you guys ignored that and kept arguing.

I researched into jet engines and found that a turbofan that all big jet airplanes use is way more powerful than a fighter jet in terms of thrusting power, that video is was a bad example. Once again there is a barrier keeping the sound from making everyone go depth, so thanks a lot for making someone leave.

When it turns into an argument about:
"Well physics!" and "Well suspension of disbelief!" And neither side is budging, causing a part in the RP for no damnable reason. It's dumb, period. The entire argument is dumb and based on three lines of text that were supposed to be a clever vehicle to make people understand that EMPHATIC IS LOUD!
